CSS Style sheet will not join?

I'm doing some changes on the pages a designer has done for me, so I saved the page using the Firefox browser. He opened and the CSS is located in a directory, but it does not come. I try a style of attachment sheet, navigate and select the .css file, and when I try to make the attachment, he said the file "appears to be an html file and cannot be opened as css."

??

But it is a CSS file, a copy of the style sheet on the web associated with the Web page active. If I save and download the files and the page on my own server it works / looks very good. But not inside dreamweaver.

Any ideas? Thank you.

> it says the file
> "appears to be an html file and cannot be opened as css."

the error message may be correct.

URL address to the downloaded page so please the code and associated
the files are visible.

CSS style sheet appears on the remote server when I download my Web site, but it works very well to the local server, if anyone can help I would be grateful.

There are major problems with this page as shown in the screenshot below.

This is caused by a liberal hijacking of APDivs (aka layers) for a main page layout.  This isn't what APDivs were intended.  That's why Adobe them removed from DW.  Unfortunately, not soon enough.

I think you're the best option is to start over with a pre-built CSS layout that doesn't contain positioned elements.

Either way, Flash is dead now.  Most of the people cannot display Flash media more.  You can convert the HTML5 video or use YouTube to host videos now.

  • My own starter CSS Style sheet

When I go to a new Document, I want my own Starter style sheet (with the code outlined in the way I like, design classes, major base fonts, etc) appears under "category: CSS Style Sheets" or "Page designs (CSS). How can I do this?

To do this, you would have to edit some internal files in DW.
Specifically, you need to add to your page (with a corresponding picture)
    the folder in this location-

    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Dreamweaver CS4\configuration\BuiltIn\Layouts

    (PC, of course)

On a Mac, they are here - Applications: Adobe Dreamweaver CS4:
    configuration: BuiltIn: Layouts

It would be much easier to simply create a template for this site.

  • "Recursive" error when you try to join my CSS Style sheet

I'm totally new to CS5 - in your tutorial (create your first website - part 2: creating the page layout) which I followed to the letter, it guides you through to attach a style sheet in the ccs html file.

I get the error message "an import style recursive was found. in the dialog box to attach an external Style sheet, there are two options one is 'Import' and the other is 'link '. Link is grayed out? So I can't select it. It would seem that there may be a problem with your tutorial?

Here is my code that I checked and rechecked.

I noticed that on that three other discussions has not solved the problem?

  • To an external CSS style sheet [was: CSS]

    Hello

I made a mistake created all my css for a site like "this doccument only" what I wanted to do was to create a site wide style sheet!

Is it possible to copy my css and turn it into a .css file that applies to the entire site, without starting again.

  • CSS and Images - will not export behaviors

When I try to export as CSS and Images that I get a message "slice images of the current state will be included in this export. Hotspot and behavior attributes will be ignored.

I tried to uncheck the check box "Current States" only, but it is grayed out.

I've updated to the latest version. About the box says I have version 10.0.3.11.

    Thank you

The CSS and Images export option will export all compliance JavaScript behaviors, so if you have pimples. bearings and image swaps then they will not work in exported files.

For exporting to CSS and Images, slices are used only to indicate what should be exported as bitmaps (JPEG, gif), and you only need to put the slices on the parts of the graphic design.

I'm not entirely sure why your export files are completely empty, but it looks like you can not completely identified which must be exported as a

and that you may not have placed slices on page elements that must export as graphics. Unless you have flattened your text to bitmap images, editable text objects must export direct HTML text.

If you can share or point to your file, we may be able to help.

  • Arrgh, needing help with CSS style sheets

Please see the source code for these pages and tell me if you can figure out where I'm missing something.

My new pages marriage until now look like this:
    http://www.chuckbryant.com/Jan/anew-0217A.htm
(consistent with the rest of the folder/jan)

Because of all the foliage in most shots, I WANT the wedding pages to have the same style of deep-green base than my WCYC pages - for example:
    http://www.chuckbryant.com/WCYC/WCYC_Home.html

I even started with a brand new page - no style whatsoever. I went to the Page Properties, set up as I wanted to, with NO imported or linked style either - then when I downloaded it, or even totally outside the record jan, it somehow caught / jan pages' properties (figure of pink FF99FF)! How the #% $^ & * @! he did THIS?

I tried to put in the WCYC style both as an import and a link. Today from the page WCYC Finally I get it - it's almost everything is OK, but it still has the rose outside the table:
    http://www.chuckbryant.com/Jan/anew-0217B.htm

Add to the frustration: when I hit REFRESH, for a moment, I'll see the flash of green all around, but then returned the pink background. Somehow the anew0217 pages read the Green style deep, but they hold on him.

    . . . . . . . (insert mild expletives here)

I'm still holding off on building and load the rest of the wedding pages until I have correctly attributed WCYC style (and my lovely wife getting a little upset that I did not yet!) So please help extend my honeymoon phase by sharing simple, clear explanation from here screwing in this place and specific instructions on what I need to do.

Understand that I entered in this return of three years, with a unique college using MX 2004 course. I created most of my pages and then, when I had more clearly technical aspects in mind. Since then, I've forgotten a lot of details, and I'm sure that I slipped in some sloppy work habits, and probably the gobs of my source code has mutated into something wrong. Please do not forget my limits. I don't remember details that experienced web site designers take for granted, so I may need to ask for clarification on some things that seem glaring more knowledgeable people here.

    Thank you very much!
