CUCM licenses BASIC vs. essential

Hi all

There's a CUCM 9.1.2 with the ELM license server.

We received a warning of license for essential licenses that I don't understand.

See attached photos:

CUCM report shows license_usage_report_cucm.jpg.

license_usage_elm_server.jpg illustrates the use of the ELM.

ELM generates a warning of license for 1 license key.

ELM how the use of licenses?

The CUCM are 39 ports ATA configured and 39 users who have need of issuing base for example remote Destination profiles.

But the installed licenses are Basic 35 and 33 essential.

You have 8 improved and Enhanced Plus 1 licenses more than the required number. In total, you have 9 additional licenses on top of your licenses required in both categories improved/more.

Now go Basic and essential your installed licenses are below requirements: you run short 6 basic essential and 4 licenses. Total if you run short of 10 licenses here.

When you run short of licensing in the category of essential basic / it will start borrowing of higher categories, so after having borrowed 9 additional licenses available (from improved/improved more) now you run always run 1 license. That is displayed in the warning.

If all goes well, it should be clear.

  • A new doubt on the license - VMware vSphere Essential Kit

    Hi guys,.

I play virtualize physical servers in the company I work (about 10 smaller servers).

To start some tests, I bought a Dell r.620 server with two processors and 64 GB of RAM.

I think buy just one license of VMware vSphere Essential Kit, just to test some features, management, and support provided by VMware.

My doubt is: to support all the RAM (64 GB), I have purchase a license of the vSphere Essential Kit, or I need TWO?

I'm a little confused on how much physical RAM memory on a single server, the vShpere Essential Kit can handle.

OK, I know I can use a free version. But this test server will be transformed into a production server, and that the price of the vSphere Essential Kit is very good, I would buy it and start my test as a test of "production"...

Guys, sorry for my bad English, it is not my mother tongue. =(

    Thanks much for any help.

    Hi Alex,

Since you are doing a test on a single server so a Kit should be good at this point. In addition to Essential Kit do not fully support 64 GB of RAM so no need to buy two. Only the free versions have limits in support of only 32 GB of RAM.

Diagram below will give you a good idea on the different Kits.

Also, you can read about licensing and prices here: http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/products/vsphere/VMware-vSphere-Pricing-Whitepaper.pdf

  • Version of the software Cisco Wireless LAN controllers & Licensing (controllers HA and APs Adder & licenses basic questions)

In fact, one of my clients has two Cisco 5508 wireless LAN controllers installed in a site and back up and running now. one of them running software version 7.4 and the other running software version 7.6. Each of them works as a stand-alone controller with number of access points. Based on this scenario, answer below concerns:

    • Can we transfer all active licenses at one of them and use it as a HA free of charge?

    • Up to which version of the software, we can improve these controllers without any extra charge?

    • What we must do if we want to move two of them to version 8 software?

Waiting to hear from you soon about my concerns.

    Here are a few notes:

-Only licenses Adder can be reheberges to another controller. Base license cannot be rehosted unless the unit is THAT RMA would be.

-Too long the WLC has a minimum of 50 access point license, so that the unit can be used for HA N + 1 or AP SSO.

s ' it use SSO of AP, the WLC must have connections to subnets for layer 2 even due to the IP address of the interface.

HA N + 1 can be used in sites different especially if the subnet do not align

  • License Basic vs Adobe stock

Hi, I am creating a brochure for a client that contains sub license Adobe Stock photos. In addition to the complete brochure, I'm going to provide them with a blank template so that in the future, they can make their own small text changes. I can provide them with images under standard license or do I need to get the extended license? Quantities of print/web etc. are within the parameters of volume for the base license, but I'm not clear on sharing, then my client using their. What should I do also provide images for use in other jobs - such as getting their web co use? Can I do this under an extended license or not at all? Of course I have to get this all in fact right! Thank you

    Hello

Please see Stock FAQ: what we send licenses? learn more about the uses of the extended licenses.

You can use standard licenses as long as the images are not used in the content for sale or for commercial purposes.

  • Change license to essential to Enterprise Plus 5.0 cluster

    Good morning guys,

I need help on the amendment of license for a SME clients.

In fact, we have a cluster with only 3 5.0 Esxi hosts and a vcenter license with the essential Pack.

Add other hosts and the customer has already purchased the Enterprise more licenses for guests (old and new).

What is the best way of change the Licensing without creating problems in the production environment?

Do I have to Unplug le hosts de vcenter, changing the vcenter licenses and then reconnect the different host to vcenter to new by assigning them a new license? We would like to avoid creating a new cluster to which Add former ESXi nodes to maintain some configurations (as fencing for a CentOS cluster). Thanks for your suggestions regarding
    Antonio

    Hi Antonio,.

There is no impact to change the license at all. You simply replace the current license with the new. Not need to unplug the host or any other thing.

    This is the KB.

  • VMs migration from one to another on ESXi 5.1 data store (free license)

I'm under ESXi in my lab (for the Cisco voice servers and a few Windows virtual machines). Virtual machines are on a datastore iSCSI hosted by a Netgear ReadyNAS Pro Business. Due to major problems with iSCSI on the ReadyNAS platform and the inability of Netgear to resolve problems (blocking NAS requiring a hard reset), I decided to buy a QNAP TS - 569 L and use it to host my ESXi data store. Now, I'm migrating my VMs from the iSCSI data store hosted on the ReadyNAS to the iSCSI data store hosted by QNAP.

My VMs are supplied thin, and I want to preserve thin provisioning after migration. The data store Navigator ESXi can move (or copy) machines virtual data to another store, but thin-set in service virtual machines become thick-set service once they have been moved (or copied). Somebody advised Veeam to that end, I've installed and configured. Unfortunately, Veeam-error with the message that the current license does not have the migration of virtual machines from a data store to another. Just today, I learned that he must have at least the ESXi Essentials ($500) license to allow this type of migration of Veeam.

I also tried OVFTool (the MMware command line utility), using the following syntax:

    . / ovftool - ds QNAP-iSCSI - dm = vi thin: / / vi [email protected]/CUCM-Pub: / / [email protected]

    where:

QNAP-iSCSI is the name of the data store on the QNAP

192.168.200.10 is the IP address of my box of ESXi that is connected to two data stores iSCSI (the one organized by the ReadyNAS and the other by the QNAP).

CUCM-Pub is the name of the virtual machine on the ReadyNAS iSCSI data store I'm migrating to the QNAP iSCSI data store.

However, I get the following error message:

Error: Unexpected Option: vi: / / [email protected]/CUCM-Pub

This is probably due to the same issue - free ESXi license does not allow this type of VM migration. So, what are my options with free ESXi license? I'm not willing to pay $500 for the license of the essential at this stage.

    Thank you!

A few options, I can think of are:

    • export to the FVO and re - import
    • use VM explore Trilead and backup/restore virtual machines
    • Use the vmkfstools command to copy the virtual disks

  • ASA 5506 and control license included

Hello! I have searched, but have not yet found a solid answer on this. We received an ASA5506-X, which has a license of control included.

From what I see, to get all the benefits of the control license, I will also need a license of protection (as described here:http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/security/firesight/541/firepower-mo...)

Is this correct? Is license included control essentially pointless until we get a license protection, or we would gain any advantage by applying?

    Thanks for the help!

Self-control offers very limited functionality. See the following Cisco description:.

Function application visibility and control (AVC) by default. This function allows the application identification and control more of 3,000 applications, detected and classified by risk and business relevance.

To perform most interesting actions based on policies, you need one of the extra cost of licenses like IPS, filtering URL or Advanced Malware Protection (AMP).

  • Cisco Jabber with Cisco multi-party Shared more Licenses

    Hello

I'm looking for a Solution to video conference for approximately 4000 employees. Currently the customer uses Cisco's Jabber for video calls from point to point. The main requirement is Ad - Hoc videoconferencing by any employee at any time. I looked at both meeting of Cisco and Cisco TelePresence Server server. The two solution requires more or licenses more pluralistic multi-party Personal shared. The customer won't buy a PMP license for each user. Their requirement is multimedia resources shared so that any employee can initiate an ad hoc conference.

Now the question is: can we use Cisco Jabber with multiparty licensing shared?

    Thank you

    Mockus S

    Yes, it is quite possible.

The only singularity is with PMP + which applied slightly differently than the head of the Orchestra/vTS. This does not seem to match your use case since you intend to buy only SMP licenses +. From version 2.0 (1) CMS, PMP + licenses - which are less expensive than SMP + - use only if: a) the space belongs to a LDAP user with a PMP + license for which they are responsible; or (b) If a user LDAP with PMP + assigned to them joins the Cisco meeting App space as an authenticated user. In all other scenarios, including ad-hoc escalation with CUCM licensed SMP + is consumed. This is different from that of head of the Orchestra/vTS, which were also able to understand the right to the user for ad-hoc calls.

  • do C20 to call outside 8.6 CUCM

    Hi Experts,

I have in my project C20 telepresence and 8.6 CUCM, I want to be able to call remotely, and I want to know what I have to do to 8.6 CUCM and voice gateway if needed. Some people told me I should do NAT, but I don't want to do NAT. I want to make it through by CUCM 8.6. And what is the possibility to appeal through URI in CUCM 8.6.

    Thank you for all

    Mohammad Saeed

For voice calls, just register your C20 against CUCM and it'll work just like any standard Cisco VoIP phone. (And so use whatever the gateways/SIP trunks you got set for the external connectivity)

If you want to make video calls outside CUCM, then you must make some changes to the CUCM. Basically, you'll want to be able to make/receive the SIP (or maybe H.323) calls on the ' net. Exactly what are the changes will depend on what you want to do, but my money is on that you need to have somewhere of the VCS in the mixture.

  • ISE renewed licenses

    Hello

We have been informed today that he was about to expiry of our licenses of ISE (expires in October, 2016).  We have imported since the new license file, which essentially doubled the number.  We believe that we must delete the old file.  Before you do, I have a few questions:

    * Is it the right thing to do?

    * It will affect the system if done during production hours?

    * Is there anything else that I would be concerned regarding the deletion of this file?

Characters: Administration, monitoring, Service policy (all)
    Role: STANDALONE
    The system time: June 13, 2016 12:01:38 PST8PDT
    FIPS mode: People with disabilities
    Version: 1.4.0.253
    Hotfix information:

    5

Thanks in advance for your help.

As long as the new license is installed and recognized, and the existing number of session does not exceed the number and type of licenses available on the subject, delete the old will have zero impact on the production services.

It would have been preferable to wait to get the new as the countdown begins on that one as soon as the PAK is issued. You missed about four months, you could have continued to run on the old license.

  • Keys options in telepresence to cucm provisioning endpoints

    To your comment, please

I wonder if when plug you directly a point of termination in CUCM configuration mode, what happens with the installed option keys?, such as the double video option or the multisite functionality?  ... or all licenses are managed through the tool of CUCM licenses?

    Thank you.

Options keys will be installed, because they determine what are the characteristics of the endpoint is capable of. They will be also managed endpoint and not CUCM, everything like they are when endpoint is configured either standalone or using VCS.

  • Conductor with virtual TP and CUCM

    Hi all

I deployed a telepresence system with:

    -CUCM 02.

    -Telepresence 01 conductor.

    -01 telepresence virtual server.

Through this guide, I have configured:

-SIP Trunk of CUCM TP driver (Rendezvous) and model of routing to make call.

-Bridge Conference and conference bridge pools, Conference

    -Models Conference and conference alias.

    -L' user to connect.

-Add TP CUCM license; touch, call session for conductor; STM license screen.

    My test scenario:

-01 camera SX10 call to conference by routing model 6188 list road bridge room is 'Rendezvous_Trunk'.

-In the conductor, make "Rendezvous meeting" of the alias(6) @.*'-'\1.rendezvous_mtg'withHD Servicemodels.

"HD Service" have Conference bridge "To_VTS".

    State of the link/trunk:

-Trunk of CUCM TP Condutor:Time up: 0 days 1 hour 29 minutes.

-Bridge Conference in TP driver: permits and status: active.

But the call cannot be successful with the message 'your call cannot be completed as composed. Please check your phone book and call again, or ask your operator for assistance.'

I see that it connects VTS:

280 Conference APP Info '6188.rendezvous_mtg' 08:23:13.256: deleted via API (not of participants)
    279 08:22:21.505 Conference APP Info '6188.rendezvous_mtg' created

And the TP driver has 3 alarms:

    - Conference bridge is missing the function of encryption key: one or more conference bridges lacks the function of encryption key. This is required for all driver telepresence B2BUA links.
    - Warning of telepresence Server license resources: use of the licenses of individual server of telepresence is close or has reached its full capacity
    - Resource server telepresence pool license warning: license server of telepresence pool use is close or has reached its full capacity

I miss encryption license, time in the head of the Orchestra and STM even not (because the STM using GMT time and cannot change his).

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thank you and best regards,

    Thanhduytran

    Hello

Driver Telepresence Unified CM deployment guide x.24

on page 17, you can find concerning the encryption key

    Task 8:
    Installation of an encryption key
The telepresence server has the ability to use a secure communications connection. These security features are enabled with the option of encryption. You must install the option key so that this deployment to work.

This is related to the mechanism how conductor and TP server communicate with each other. He can't speak SIP secure (TLS).

We tested it in our lab, without encryption key, that it did not work.

If you can ask cisco, let them meet and share their response
