Curiosity mobile GPU

Hi, I own a Hp Pavilion Sleekbook 15-b000sq as follows:

Intel i3 3217u @ 1.8ghz

4 GB Ram @1. 6 ghz

Intel HD 4000 (integrated graphics as we know)

The thing is that I've seen in various shops of the same kind of laptop (Hp Pav Sleekbook 15) with the same processor, the same amount of ram, hard drive, even, even lcd, same everything except for one thing, he was a dedicated graphics card.

I know this might be a stupid question to some people, but honestly, I want to know for me.

There are 2 types of graphics cards: 1 - GPU soldered on the motherboard 2 - they built into the slot for the graphics card itself.

Now the question is it is possible anyway no matter the consequences, or it will be hard to add a different gpu (bare with me) or add a completely separate graphics card in my notebook? And if it's no big deal explain to me how to use a dedicated graphics card works on a laptop.

I hope that I expressed my good enough...

Thank you..

Only a very few laptops have a slot for a graphics card. They cost a few thousand dollars, at a minimum, and are portable true or geniuses high-end work stations. For 99% of computers laptops all tokens video (the map is not the right word) that it is integrated (as yours is) or dedicated are soldered to the card. Thus, to have different graphics, it requires a different motherboard. To complicate things, there is now a "switchable" thing called chart where there are two a video chip integrated and dedicated memory on the motherboard and operating system allows graphic chores be manipulated by one without a reboot.

In theory, your laptop could be completely disassembled, the motherboard removed and replaced by another with a little better, switchable graphics. It cost more it would cost to sell you your own and one of the laptops with the video you want to buy.

I apologize if this is common knowledge, but I do not search the forums here and I couldn't find an answer to my question. My google-fu failed me also. I have a G1 650 ProBook with i5 4200 m cpu, screen 15.6 inches 1080. I'll keep this laptop for awhile because I love her and I am poor and I'm keen to make some updates. I have 2 x 4 GB of RAM installed and I have a 256 gb ssd Samsung Pro on the way. I'm looking to the i7 on eBay too (4700mq would be nice right?) but I do not know if it would be worth that this 4200 m is quite catchy. But I digress. My question is this, is my laptop can be extended to the dedicated graphics card? My motherboard it does again?  It is the number of the piece of my motherboard, model 1993 (U3E1). If it is expandable, which dedicated cards are supported. I know that some of these 650 ProBook came with an AMD 8750 m. All others would work as well? Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hello

No, you can't. Some other machines are AMD 8750 m because they have different system board.

    Kind regards.

This is called switchable graphics and which must be ordered in advance to have this feature, the video can be found on board not something that you can add later. This requires a motherboard swap to have video and this could be a costly upgrade.

  • ATI Radeon Mobility Core/memory clock speeds - Satellite P10 873

I have a portable Satellite P10 873 using 64 MB Radeon 9700 Mobility GPU, the base clock is set at 400 and 200 memory. The chip must be run to 450/260 so if anyone from Toshiba is reading this can you tell me if the cooling of the Gpu is sufficient for these speeds (judging by the traces of burning on my thighs could well be unlikely)?

Is also the 64 MB expandable to 128 MB of VRAM?

    Hi Carmel

First of all the graphics card is a small chip that attaches to the motherboard.
The graphics card has no own cooling system. Only the CPU has a cooling fan.

Toshiba recommends to use the graphic driver Toshiba because the drivers are changed and support an overheating protection. In this case the graphics driver controls the heat produced by the graphics card.
In this case, it s undesirable to overclock the graphics card. If you want to overclock something so do it at your own RISK

    Hello

I want to ask about my graphics card in my notebook F55-108 - NVIDIA GeForce 9700 M GTS.
When I play demanding games (like GTA 4), my temperature on my GPU to 105 C place.

    Is it normal, dangerous?
    Any suggestions?

Does anyone have a common experience?

    Thank you

    Hello!

I think the mobile GPU is maded to be highly resistant to the temperature. On the other side there is the problem of GPU NVIDIA (overheating) due to a manufacturing problem, problem that seems applied to the G94 chip also.

I have a F50-108 with the same GPU and I just did a test Benchmark FUR 8 x FSAA and had a peak temperature of 90 C. After raising at this time (I think it's a value of threshold with bios 1.3) coldest step at a higher speed (not the RPM Max he wasn't very noisy) who did the temp lower about 87-88 degree Celsius and keep there.

    Idling, with updated 179.14 up-to-date office driver for mobile use, I have a 55-60 ° C temp.
I used Windows 7 for this test.

I don't know what to say... 105 seems to be a little high. Try raising the laptop by behind when you play so the air stream can be maximized.

  • Pavilion n201ax: upgrading the GPU, the CPU and the RAM of my laptop n201ax

Maybe it's a very long post, but please answer because I really need answers to each of these questions and I really want to upgrade my laptop to the best configuration, if I CAN.

Let me make this clear first.

    * In the next contained the words 'this portable' always refers to Hp Pavilion 15-n201ax *.
Good then everything first I read somewhere that the maximum Ram of this laptop can be expanded up to 16 GB, but i came up with this link here-

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/hardware-upgrades-replacements/I-would-like-to-upgrade-memory-of-my-lap...

And then I came to know that it can only be upgraded to 12 GB page chapter 1 Description this Guide - #2

    http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c04438537.PDF

First of all I would like to ask, is that,

    1. can I buy a RAM of any brand but the same 1600 mhz clock speed ofc IE?, then can I go to the GSkill 1600 Mhz DDR3 4 GB of ram?

    2. the size matter for respective locations? or I can install the 8 GB and 4 GB of ram in any other slots?

So this was all about the RAM

But I need to know if I can change the discrete GPU and the APU of this laptop

3 and if yes - which are compatible mobile GPU that I can install by removing the previous one ie AMD 8600 M (for example graphics R9, R7 and R5 for laptop)

4 and who are the compatible APU I can install by removing the APU previous IE AMD APU A10 - 4655 M (for example the AMD FX APU for laptops)

    5. If I can upgrade the GPU and APU both please tell makes compatibility issues? as only a specific GPU can work with a specific APU IE as in this laptop AMD APU A10 - 4655M + AMD 8600 M GPU.

    Please help me, please.

    Thanks in advance.

    Pavilion 15-n201ax?

We may need to refer to the owner's manual here:

    Your repair manuals

Officially, it supports only 12 concerts. Your model has a single module of 8 GB if you have an open slot. Unofficially, users here can have reported that add another 8 GB for a total of 16 concerts will work fine. It's something you take the risk of making but it is not official.

The part numbers for the appropriate memory are listed on page 42. You must DDR3L-1600 SO-DIMM.

If you want to go formal, the 4 GB module is: 691740-001

    Is this on amazon.com:

    http://www.Amazon.com/HP-691740-001-1600MHz-PC3L-12800-memory/DP/B00CI08FX4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&QID=1437948185&SR=8-1&keywords=691740-001

You just leave the concert 8 where it is and add the new memory into the open slot.

On your laptop model, the GPU/APU is soldered to the motherboard. In order to make any upgrade, you will need to buy a new motherboard. You have an idea together wrong GPU/APU can be removed and replaced and this is incorrect. The term APU refers to a processor that has integrated video, so the whole issue on the compatibility between the GPU and APU just missing the mark. On some systems, the GPU/APU is socketed and can be replaced which is used to replace/upgrade the processor and the video function but as stated above, on your this involves pulling and replacing the entire motherboard.

    There is available a little better/graphics processor using AMD A10 - 5745M 8670 M (2.9 GHz/2.1 GHz, 2 GB L2, 1333 MHz DDR3L Quad 25W) for use with Standard Windows. The part of the motherboard is 734824-501

HP does not store the Council, but I found this line:

    http://www.discounteddealz.com/product.asp?Itemid=327740&gclid=CO78y6rn-cYCFQmCaQodOP0GLQ

Never heard of this seller and can not be a guarantor, but the price is very reasonable for this Council. I was expecting to be a little more makes me wonder about this seller a little. I would advise to keep what you have. He is very strong for AMD and the upgrade to the Commission on the A10-5745 will result in only a very small increase in performance to a very high cost in money and efforts.

I was wondering if I can add mobile gpu dedicated to my motherboard. If I can please tell me what graphics card I can add.

    My laptop:

    Intel pentium 2.20 ghz (dual-core) b960

    4 GB of ram

Inteagraded Intel HD 2000 (his performance is really low)

    Dual boot: windows 7 64-bit and windows 8.1 64-bit

    motherboard: hp 1858 hm70

Sorry there is no way to do it. The video system is a chip soldered directly on the motherboard. There is no crack or any other place to add something to the video system. The 650 HP had no dedicated graphics card option, then there is not even a motherboard, that you could swap in for decent graphics card. There is another motherboard for Intel Core CPU which would have video Intel HD 3000, but that wouldn't be enough of an improvement of worth.

My current problem is that with the passage of the mobile GPU to save energy I lose the backlight on my screen when the high performance GPU is used. Everything started happening the past few days, I tried a system restore (do), tried to uninstall all the AMD drivers and software and then reinstall with their drivers updated, and the same process, but with drivers supplied with the notebook, HP still the same result.

Is it possible for the high-performance GPU to be lack of any way or is it a software problem? I'm running out of ideas, any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

There is something in the settings which has gone wrong and you have to reinstall the operating system.

  • Video Proccesor AMD M880G ATI Radeon 4250

So I have an old HP Pavilion dv7 with a chip Radeon 4250. It's always a good pc for most of the uses and the big bright screen is ideal for videos and surf, thing is on occasion, I get an itch to do some light games that the old chip no longer seems to make the chops.
I'd hate to throw side the mobile complete on a vid chip so I was hoping that it could be a driver update or a "band-aid."
Oh, the pc model # is dv7-6153-nr.

    Hello scottcollier,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand that you are looking for an update patch or driver of graphics performance on your laptop. To use the feature of switchable/dual graph correctly, you must use the drivers for HP. Unfortunately the only available drivers are dated June 2011.

The drivers are available here: AMD graphics driver high definition, if you're still running Windows 7.

There is no way to upgrade the mobile GPU on this laptop, and as time passes support game becomes more limited on older hardware.

    Sorry for the bad news.

  • HP update cannot replace HP Health Check?

The reason why I ask because the health check tells me to install 3 the same updates, he set up last month.  So I won't use it.

I want to make sure that HP Update will analyse all updates of specific HP for my laptop.

    Thank you >

Question side: with the HP update, do I need to use Windows Update?

1 year Pavilion dv6 (NB636AV); Windows Vista Edition Home Premium 64-bit SP2; battery 12 cells; 3 GB OF RAM; Intel Core 2 Duo

hp health check is unfortunately far from being perfect. It often detects drivers that need to put up-to-date and then installed old drivers, sometimes even older than those identified as being 'too old '.

Windows Update gives you rarely drivers, but all the critical updates are really critical, when they set security questions and performance inside windows, and there is no one else able to set these except microsoft, via windows/microsoft update (update of microsoft being the cotyledon also providing updates for office and other microsoft - recommended products).

There are 2 steps to follow in order to stay up to date with drivers when having a hp laptop.

1 download page check youre laptop (www.hp.com > support & drivers > download drivers and software (and firmware) > type in your model > go > choose your operating system). Here the important updates are bios, quick launch buttons, hp protect tools (for professional laptops), firmwares, audio drivers (unfortunately changed by hp - using the latest almost always requires you to mod those generic for yourself, which is quite complicated) etc.

    2. recognize that hp is too late by offering updates for drivers and get these other places, mainly manufacturers their web sites as intel (chipset, wifi, ethernet, graphics etc drivers). Some drivers offered by HP are best to be avoided completely, as pilots mobile gpu (graphics card). Get the latest from intel, ati or nvidia (get that your gpu is of) and mod them accordingly (http://www.driverheaven.net/modtool.php for ati, http://www.driverheaven.net/nvmodtool.php for nvidia)

  • experiment with soundmax integrated digital hd audio drivers...

Well, I posted this in another forum because I had some problems with a helmet of newly purchased game... Meanwhile I have solved my problem easily, but I'm still very interested in getting the latest drivers soundmax working for my ADI soundmax integrated digital device hd audio 1981

Yes, here is the post. suggestions, especially of someone knowing changes in driver HP for laptops (and how to identify and remove - effectively apply these modificarions on a non hp driver, of course ) are appreciated and neglect the first chapter noting minor problems, since theyre resolved. for those interested, it's the whole election usb to 500 Hz by my habu razer driver that caused problems (stress the cpu too all in game) with the headset - plug on the other hub usb resolved, since that, we're not overclocked.

I just bought a fatal1ty headset and now I'm some minor problems with my sound. Obviously the sound card actually since I installed the software and drivers for the latest headphones.

so far, I used the driver I got from the download page of my laptop by HP, version 5.10.1.5220 of the 05.02.2008.

now, I looked across the net and found many of these drivers soundmax, but I'm not sure that one is...

I learned that the 6. # drivers are for vista, and 5.10.02. # for xp x 64 drivers. so I need a 5.10.1 # a (using Windows XP pro sp3), preferably newer than 5220. now on the page that I found them (www.versiontracker.com), there are many of these drivers (218 to be exact) and sorting by release date confuses me a little, since the latest driver of 5.10.1 # is 5.10.1.5860, but 5.10.1.6110 a little earlier was released. So who is the most recent?

and all are 2008... is there really no more recent? the official page of soundmax there are none, not even support section.

    the device id is HDAUDIO\FUNC_01 & VEN_11D4 & DEV_1981 & SUBSYS_103C30C5 & REV_1002\4 & 1D8C0F4E & 0 & 0001, since we can't identify the exact device name.

someone at - it an idea?

    Thank you

    EDIT:
    HPC_5860_1_XP_32_REF says hardware not supported...

    EDIT #2:
used the experience of modding drivers for ati mobility GPU and copied the softpak hp devices to install my driver soundmax in the INF this driver of 5860 above, installed by the Device Manager and it seems to work. lets see how well...

    EDIT #3:
a look at the Device Manager now makes me look stupid... my driver version is now 5.10.1.5180, which is the oldest one offered on the hp page, although I have installed the 5.10.1.5860 modded inf file.

    solved.

I had the driver of the 5870 since this page and installed. These seem to be the most recent. I'll take a look at the inf file, maybe learn how future drivers in order to be compatible with 8510p mod.
