Damaged Windows XP OEM product key sticker

My desktop PC hard drive bad a and was replaced, but the windows product key was the last 3 letters plucked from the label on the crankcase and when I did a survey on how to retrieve the key that I have in the windows cd itself is different from the key on the label stuck on the housing of the office. Which should I use and how do I find the last 3 letters of the key on the tag, and why are they different.

In this case, since you mentioned that there is a Windows XP sticker in your desktop, it only means that your copy of Windows XP was preinstalled. To solve your problem, you should contact your computer manufacturer for a copy of the recovery disk and the copy of the product key. They will be able to help you to change the product key and the reactivation of your copy of Windows XP.

  • Windows 7 used product key sticker

The product key of Windows 7 on the sticker attached to the bottom of my laptop is worn and not readable.  The HARD drive crashed and I need to install a new one.  I can't boot from the existing HARD drive - but I can retrieve files from the disk using Recuva.  Is there a way I can get the product from a file recovered key?  Can I use the HP model and serial number to find the key to OEM product somewhere?  I'll need when I install the new drive.

    Hello:

Unfortunately there is no way to get a replacement product key or to retrieve the key from the HARD disk.

Even if you could, you wouldn't be able to use to activate the windows installation.

Your only option short of buying a new operating system to full version (OEM or retail) is to order a recovery disc for your PC game, if they are still available.

AFAIK, a product key is not required when you use the HP factory recovery disks.  I've never had to enter a product key when using them.

Please look at the recovery disc guide commands on the link below.

    Thanks for the attention.

    You can try

Click Start, right click on computer

    Click on properties

You will notice it displays a time until Activation but completed. The product ID also indicates that he uses a default key, it is only for the 30-day grace period allowed until you have to activate Windows 7.

Click the change product key link

Enter the product key located on the COA sticker that is located downstairs or (sometimes in the battery of your laptop), you can also find it at the top or the side if it's a desktop computer.  It looks something like the following:

Proceed to enter the product key and click Next

Wait while Windows is trying to activate.

If all goes well, less than a minute, you should see this screen.

You can further confirm that Windows 7 is enabled by checking the State of Activation of Windows:

This HP model is: Pavilion a530e.  It crashed and the original CD is not on this earth.  I installed a generic copy of Windows XP Edition family (the same as the original OS, but different SP level).  I left the empty product key because it would not of him who is on the side of the CPU!  How to fix this?  I have access to the internet and to do automatic updates, but the Microsoft Authentication in Windows Update Web site has not been made.  Help, please!

The OEM key on the side of your Tower will not work with the XP cd to retail. You need a manufacturer OEM copy such as comes with some Dell, gateway machines.

You can get the recovery disks that don't require any key to activate it. HP can carry is no longer, but they are available here. Just put your model number in the search:

    Hey Warren,

In my view, the windows license is linked to your motherboard. You can install / reinstall windows XP with the same license / product key that its meant to be on the same computer n number of times.

    I hope this helps.

  • Reinstall Windows 7 without product key

I bought a used laptop that has either a version retail or upgrade of Windows 7 installed (OEM product key sticker is for the original OS, Vista). I would like to reinstall, but I don't have the product key. I tried tools such as Magic Jelly Bean KeyFinder, but they are unable to produce the key.

I made a USB installation using the Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool. How can I reinstall?

If the key finder displayed BBBB-BBBB-BBBB is a volume license key. You might have to reinstall the original Windows Vista provided with the machine.

  • Faded to the Windows 7 product key sticker

I had to install a new hard drive on my laptop and did not have a Windows 7 installation disc Toshiba - laptop came with pre-installed software. The sticker of the product key on the base of the laptop is faded, so I used 3rd party software and extract the key from the registry. I downloaded an iso of Win 7 and used this product key and all very busy, and I used it successfully for the past few weeks. Now, it is said, I have 10 days to activate my product key is invalid for activation. I have read various threads that keep that product key recovered and used for the loading of Windows & is not suitable for activation, so I'm back to faded sticker. I figured out all but one the letters/numbers and wonder if I enter the product key sticker, and I guess that last number (I think it's a B, a 3 or an 8), if it turns out to cheat should I get another chance to enter the product key and try one of the other numbers/letters combinations? Thank you

You will never be able to activate a downloaded the ISO of Windows 7 with the key that came with the laptop. Your laptop came with a Toshiba OEM of Windows 7 version, and the ISO would be a commercial version.

You have to get a set of recovery discs from Toshiba or purchase the complete retail Windows 7 installation.

  • The Windows product key sticker has disappeared and cannot use it to activate

Windows product key sticker is missing at the bottom of my laptop and I can't do some of the latest figures, my laptop computer manufacturer did not provide any hardware Windows 7 or a disk and I contacted them and they won't help. My windows 7 is actually owner I have the sticker on the bottom of my laptop as evidence, can I send this to microsoft to help out me? also note, I had problems with my laptop and realizing that the hard drive has indeed not my old windows 7 installed and the hard drive is faulty, it cannot be extracted, that is the reason why I have a problem.

your manufacturer would have provided a recovery partition on your hard drive to recover windows. If your hard disk does not and you can't read your key, you will probably need to order from your manufacturer OEM recovery disks. (no key needed, because the OEM SLP key is embedded).

Try a bright light and a good magnifying glass to read your product key.

I have a Windows Vista Business OEM product key but no CD. Is it possible to download the Image? Or I can upload the image of windows 7 or XP and install (enter the product key: Vista) free?

    Hello

It's not Microsoft, and we have nothing to do with your downgrade rights.

    Read these information from Microsoft:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

Hello & thanks to anyone who reads this message & can help.

It's what I've done all I wanted to do was to change my old email address on my windows mail to another email address.

I contacted my internet provider technical support to change the addresses e-mail & settings so I was able to access the e-mail address that I wanted to use windows mail. They tried their new settings, they recently tried, but had no luck, so they have tried using their old/normal parameters & always been unlucky? He kept coming up with an error for the two parameters & not could not send the test email that he was trying to send back to me.

My internet provider tech support guy said, maybe I had a virus (that I know that I don't have), or maybe something wrong with my settings for windows mail or something is wrong with windows or the program & contact line of microsoft support.

Microsoft technical support said they cannot help me because I have an OEM product key & if I wanted to get help through windows I had to pay money to get help or contact with this site I am trying now.

I don't know what I would do in the future? I always update my laptop with the updates of windows/microsoft who cross & always am aware constantly check & make all my microsoft security essentials for updates & scans?

    Hello

As Vista is preinstalled on your computer (OEM license), Microsoft charges you for support if you use them. They had good reason to send you to the Microsoft answers Forums

The way you must have Windows Mail put in place is to use the e-mail address and other parameters as your ISP (Internet Service Provider) gives you; not an e-mail address that you want to use.

They are the ones that provide all the information for you.

You need them: parameters Username, Password, mailserver and mail out Servier

Here is the information from Microsoft on how to set up Windows Mail:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/Windows-mail-setting-up-an-account-from-start-to-finish

You don't say which is your Internet access provider.

It doesn't matter what you are currently using.

The product key of Windows 8 is integrated into the BIOS chip. B. I installed Windows 8.1 update in a few of my laptop Windows 8 using the tutorial.

This means that the reason why the method above does not work, or you didn't follow correctly, either the key of your BIOS is corrupted.

I suggest you follow the tutorial without delay. Download the media creation tool & later the edition appropriate Windows 8.1 ISO according to the edition of Windows 8 installed on your laptop. For example. Single language edition Core (SL) 8.1 Windows 64 bits.

Disable secure boot & enable in the BIOS:
