Data disks to reinstall and suddenly I countrfeit stars out of office - what to do?

I spent the last hour and a half trying to find an answer and finally found this forum.  I hope someone here can point me in the right direction.

Several months ago, I bought a used computer from the the Salvation Army with windows XP on it.  The tag says outside media center edition.  Everything was fine, I did regularly updates and service packs necessary adding added.  I was happy.  Microsoft has been happy.

My computer started bluescreening before finished windows startup and I was forced to reinstall.  The thrift store did me not record saying I could move up to the main store and leave the machine and they are loaded when they had time.  It wasn't a great solution from a point of view of time and distance.

In the store of the the Salvation Army, more close to me, one of the employees said he had records that I could use to reinstall.

After a lot of stress by doing a reinstall and finally find the LAN drivers, I needed to reinstall, I connect to the internet finally and get a message on how I "may victim software counterfeiting.  YIPES.

I had a legitimate copy, but I need to find a way to get back to it.

Help!

Thank you

Gwen

The guy from the Sally Army who reinstalled your PC you have no favor. :(
He has installed a pirated Windows XP Pro - no Media Center version.

Unfortunately, there is no easy way to remedy this situation, given that MS has stopped selling MCE long ago. If you're lucky, you can be able to acquire a new set of discs direct from MS MS - look here...

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/326246

Other than that, your only option is likely to be download a Torrent of TWO DISKS required for installation of MCE 2005 and use the key to your sticker. This process works (I had to), but be very careful about where you get the torrent, that many come supported by malicious software. Choose a source Finder which has checking files, rather than simply voting, in order to avoid the pirate bay!

I am trying to simulate a tiered storage configuration and created three warehouses of shared data in order to separate the replica, the linked clones and persistent disk.

However, when I create my bound clone pool I am able to select a specific data store for the replica and bound but clone the persistent disk option is grayed out.  See photos attached to the pool creation, storage, and network configuration.

    Has anyone any suggestions?

    Thank you!

Yes, the use of the disc for operating system profiles require a linked clone pool.     The operating system will be on the clone, persistent disk will be a disc loaded end service that survive refreshes and redials, and then the replica will be reading only one copy of the master image.    The replica in general has in the IO and is almost always placed on the SSD or storage faster than you have and the persistent data disk is usually low IO.

  • Can I reinstall and update XP Pro?

My 10 year old computer running WinXP Pro SP2.  I have the original CD of the o/s.  I would like to install a new and more large hard drive, and then reinstall the o/s.  If I do this, I will then be able to download all the updates? Any other comments/suggestions will be welcome.  Thank you.

My 10 year old computer running WinXP Pro SP2.

What is the current service pack level or the service pack level that he began to?

If you decide to go with a clone as Ken suggested or a new installation, you should get the PC to SP3 level and use Windows updates from there.

If you re-install, firstly do not do any Windows updates until you're in SP3. If the clean install level is "no service pack installed" you must first download and install the SP2 of...

    http://www.Microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&ID=28

After that, or if you are already at SP1 or higher you must download and install SP3 for... http://www.Microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&ID=24

Don't worry about the text which says that these are network facilities, they work very well for standalone computers.

If your PC is currently stable and work to your satisfaction I would seriously consider cloning. If you are not satisfied with certain aspects of health or the State of your PC, you may want to consider a clean install.

If you opt for a new installation, you will also need to install all your hardware drivers for devices on mother and expansion cards. You have the installation media for all your gear? Do the installation without the original disk installed and install only the original disc after that you are happy that Windows is up-to-date, protected against malware and usually work OK with all the necessary drivers. You will then be able to copy the data to your new hard drive on the old.

This computer is home and cable? If so, this is the e-mail scan probably the cause. According to your AV program, you may need to reinstall.

Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the CPUs, slows down sending and receiving and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs, account setting changes and has even been responsible for the loss of messages. Your up-to-date A / V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more information, see:

    Hello

Here are the different ways to reinstall vista

Contact the computer manufacturer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it

they do it for a nominal cost of $

also ask them if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive to get back to the way you bought

you would normally press F10 or F11 or Alt + F10, 0 at startup to start the recovery process according to the manufacturer

Ask them of the exact key sequence

or borrow a microsoft dvd vista

Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer

they contain all versions of vista

This is the product key that determines which version of vista is installed

  • What happens to my data if I reinstall windows 7

my system does not work correctly, and I think that some of my windows got corrupted programs.  I think I need to reinstall windows 7 to fix the problem

    Hello

The best safe method would be to always have redundant backups of your data. An Installation repair help - that allows to maintain the programs and data - maybe the last link below.

You mean reinstall the OS completely? If you have the Windows 7 DVD you can do this however remember to completely backup your data off the drive and you need to reinstall your programs. If you don't have Windows 7 disks, you can buy them in your machine to cheap system. If you don't care about existing programs, then you can do a complete new installation - just select the format options that erases the entire disc (This erases all data as well). Some system manufacturers use Partitions of recovery as well as other methods to allow you to return to a completely new installation. So check with your system manufacturer to see what options you have to do - and it's certainly doable - just a matter of the manufacturer of the system processes in place for you.

  • I uninstalled and reinstalled and Firefox for windows 7 does not open. There is no error message - it just does not, even in safe mode. What should I do?

My computer is set to the automatic update in Windows 7 Home Premium and Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010. I am also running Norton 360. There was a major update for the office on 10-12-14, which seems to be at the start of my problems. This month, whenever my updates caused a restart, Mozilla has failed to open. I uninstalled and reinstalled several times, and it lasted only a day or two before it crashes again. This last time it is still not open. All instructions to solve problems appear to be based on the idea that the program is open and just questions. I can't even open it in Mode without failure.

I tried to reinstall, and it says it will launch automatically when the installation is complete, but it does not work. As Norton scan every download before it works, I am not sure if this is the problem since I never get the window that indicates the setup step by step for Firefox.

    What should I do?

Some Firefox problems can be solved by performing a clean reinstall. This means that you remove Firefox program files, and then reinstall Firefox. A clean reinstall is not the same as a regular resettlement performed using built-in installer. Please follow these steps:

Note: You can print these steps or consult them in another browser.

    1. Download the latest version of Firefox from mozilla.org office (or choose the download for your operating system and language on this page) and save the file to install it on your computer.
    2. Once the download is complete, close all Firefox Windows (or open the Firefox menu

      Click the close button

      ).

    3. Remove the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
      • Windows:

        • C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
        • C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla Firefox
    4. Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
      1. Double-click on the downloaded Setup file and go through the steps in the installation wizard.
      2. Once the wizard is completed, click to open Firefox directly after clicking the Finish button.

More information on the resettlement of Firefox can be found here.

WARNING: Do not use an uninstaller to third parties as part of this process. This could permanently delete your Firefox profile data, including but not limited to, extensions, cache, cookies, bookmarks, personal settings and passwords saved. They can be retrieved easily unless they have been backed up on an external device! See back up and restore the information contained in the profiles of Firefox.

Please report to say if this helped you!

    Thank you.

  • Reinstall and download the dvd to install Windows Vista 32.

    Hello

    I would ask you,

How can I rewrite my original Windows Vista 32 on dvd? (download, so I can fix my laptop which had original Win vista).

    Thank you.

    Hello

Here are the different methods to reinstall Vista.

    The choice that suits you.

There is no Windows Vista downloads available from Microsoft.

You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

They should do this for a small fee.

To reinstall Vista using their recovery disk/s, you start from the 1st recovery disk they provide and follow the manufacturer's instructions to reinstall:

You need to change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order:

How to change the Boot order in BIOS:

    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/SS/bootorderchange.htm

"How to replace Microsoft software or hardware, order service packs and replace product manuals.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/326246

And if you have never received a recovery disk when you bought your computer, there should be a recovery Partition on the hard drive to reinstall Vista on how you purchased your computer.

The recovery process can be started by pressing a particular combination of the key or keys at startup. (Power on / start)

    Maybe it's F10, F11, Alt + F10, etc., depending on the manufacturer.

Ask them to the proper key sequence.

And if you do not score a manufacturer of recovery on your hard drive, you should be able to make your own recovery from her disks to reinstall the operating system.

Go to programs > name of the manufacturer of your computer > then their system or recovery tools software topics for them, depending on how it is formulated.

If you can't find any reference to it, contact the manufacturer for advice on how to make these recovery disks.

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:

"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html

And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.

And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

"How to activate Vista normally and by Activation of the phone '

  • C disk hard disk space disappear and cannot return

My hard drive c [I have Windows Vista home premium service pack 2/Toshiba Satellite A205, 32 bit OS] had about 60 GB of space unused and suddenly, from nowhere, it has less than 1 GB.

    I have already tried:

    -defragmentation,

    -Disk Cleanup,

    -deletion of restore points/shadow copies,

    -scanned for virus/spyware/malware.

    -uninstalled all unnecessary programs.

Nothing I've done has increased space. What is causing this problem and how can I solve this problem?

    Thanks for your help.

Thanks a lot for your help.

In fact, I discovered what the problem was by downloading WinDirStat and apparently Norton 360 has created approximately 66GB of backups so I deleted all those and my hard drive is back to normal.

Of course it was something so simple... oh well at least it's fixed now.

  • I receive a "Low disk space" message and to free up space (d) car which seems full of backup files dating from when I got the laptop in 2008.

I receive a "Low disk space" message and to free up space (d) car which seems full of backup files dating from when I got the laptop. Now I also have the message 'the last backup impossible' because I don't have enough space on this drive.  He had originally 110 GB Local disk (d :)) and it fell to 7.44 MB of free space.) Can I remove the back of the 'safeguards' located in the 3 files and start on the 17/04/2008 right up to 2011-01.05 and just keep the last backup or removing the back will cause problems? Can someone help thank you.

    Hi KarenRoss56,

You can try to remove the old files of backup from 2008 to 2010 and check.

Note: When you delete these files and later if you perform a restore, you will not be able to get previous data. If you need one of these files, you can transfer the files to an external drive before you delete the system files.

You can also use Disk Cleanup to reduce the number of unnecessary files on your hard disk to free up disk space and help your computer run more quickly.

    Delete files using disk cleanup

    Hope this information is useful.
