Database startup time
Hello
We have a database running oracle 11.1.0.7 on Solaris 11, which takes 10 minutes start... The database is very small (a little less than 3 GB) that hosts b2b software patterns.
Stop the database with "stop immediately" and then he started through 'start-up' and we noticed that its takes a while. We had a glance on the alert log and it doesn't show much:
MMNL started with pid = 62 OS id = 25708
Mon Aug 24 11:59:44 2015
DISM started, OS id = 25721
Mon Aug 24 12:09:03 2015
Here is an excerpt for the complete startup out of the instance's alert log log:

Database startup time using DPL
Before solving the problem, I ran into the other...
Get a primary index speaks extraordinarily long .
Configuration:
* Large cache with about 12 million admissions.
* Cache not, everything will be in memory.
* Allocation of memory must be large enough to hold all internal nodes.
* The cache was deliberately not closed to test the ability of BDB to recover from crashes. (kill-9 PID)
Comment:
* EntityStore.getPrimaryIndex () takes a long time to return. Random sampling required 2200 and 1800 seconds on this method to return.
Help of IAN seems to not help about this.
* EnvironmentStats shows that memory cache is used to the top and expels the executions were necessary.

Is there something that can be done to minimize this problem? After recovery, is there a way to tell BDB to "clean" so that the next call does not have the same amount of time.Based on the stack trace I'm 99% certain that you experience this problem:
Workaround is mentioned in the thread. This problem has been fixed for the next major version and workaround will not be necessary.

Satellite A300-1MC: SOLVED - how to reduce the startup time of Vista
Today, I found a way to reduce my Toshiba A300 1mc of startup time.
Normally, it should be 3 minutes power button on the desktop.I now have it down to 1 minute by uninstalling Tempro version 1.1 and reinstall version 2 of Toshiba downloads.
He p me off why it would take so long to start, I tried msconfig and the removal of some software, but still nothing.
but by removing the own software Toshiba did it starts faster than anything...Just thought I would pass it this info... so if you want a quick start of time "DELETE TEMPRO" that you can make from the Control Panel Add/Remove programs.

The only thing that's really going to "speed up" your computer is a faster processor, more ram and a faster internet connection. Everything else is really a waste of money (IMHO)

Help of blackBerry Smartphones in startup time of acceleration
Hi I've heard, read and seen reports that the Bold 9700 boots/boot is 'slow' in less than 3 minutes for a smartphone compared to a similar specced to do elsewhere.
is there a way to accentuate or to speed up the startup time of this phone actually? an update of the upcoming firmware that will solve?
I never said anything about music and files on the press card.
I only said that the more 3rd party applications installed longer it takes to start up. It's just the way of java is. The device must read each of these java .cod files when it starts up. The more therre are to read, the longer it takes. If youre device takes several minutes to start, then everything is normal. It's just the way it is.

Why my laptop startup time is smaller when is on battery?
When my laptop is plugged in it have a 45-55 s boot, and what is on battery it has a 30-35 start sec., why?
I have the startup speed of 20 seconds if I disable windows defender :)Hi Cristi,
Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft community forum!
When the laptop is plugged in, it checks if the optimum voltage of the battery and that takes about 15 to 20 seconds. And also the startup time depends on the number of applications installed on the computer.

commandline of database startup without listening active
Hello
in the past, I started my database under UNIX with this: sqlplus sys/pwd@DATABASE @startup.sql startup.sql contains only "start";
It worked well with databases that have been hard-coded in the listner.ora. But we changed our behavior to listener... now the listener waiting for the connection to the listener, so the command above does no more than databases. I tried:
export ORACLE_SID = DATBASE | sqlplus sys / as sysdba @startup.sql
but it fails with the syntax of sqlplus prompt. Can someone give me a tip or annother opportunity so that it starts the database with a sinlge code line? Maybe something like this is common sense... but I can't make it work:
export ORACLE_SID = DATABASE | sqlplus < < EOF connect / as sysdba \n startup\n quit \n EOF

I think this would be a specific query about the creation of db real time after refresh
Select RESETLOGS_TIME, PRIOR_RESETLOGS_TIME, v status $ database_incarnation
When status = "CURRENT";
Also, I've seen a database in which v$ database.created < v$ database_incarnation.resetlogs_time.
What I did for this database was that
(a) update from the production
(b) renamed the database using nest
and I noticed the above. No idea why in this case the control file create time is less than the resetlogs_time
Thank you
MSKIf you have restored only a control file to restore a database THAT RMAN has no reason to change the database creation time because it assumes that you just want to restore the same database on the same site or to move it to another location (but it's always the same database). Using RMAN DUPLICATE is different.

recover database until time - do not recover as expected
Hello
We have an Oracle 9i db (9208) running on AIX.
We had a problem and allowed to restore all dbf files and control of the backup of the night on the server by replacing the currently damaged system.
Once this is done, we opened then the DB in order to check some things.
Once done we then closed and mounted and issued the «recover database until time...» "command.
Logs archiving we need are in the location default archive. They cover the period just before the files restored until the moment that we need the DB found.
However, when you run the recover log alerts just shows
«ALTER DATABASE RECOVER database until time ' 2010-08 - 11:16:30:00'»»

Recovery media not required.
Can someone tell us why the recover command is not the files of newspapers in the Archives until we are specifying. It doesn't look like its even looking at them.
The command runs in less than a second.
Is it because we opened the DB between the restoration and the recovery so his already written a journal of latest checking in the file, so the PB think its already up to date?Since you opened the database and media recovery finished, he will get no more. Is why he mentions "Media Recovery is not necessary. If you want to start the recovery media up to the hour, and then start a new restoration and then recover.

How to reduce the startup time of timesten
Hi guys
We run TT on a PC server and 50G TimesTen data located in a warehouse (NOT of SSD). Every time we start the TimesTen, it costs about 30 minutes, which is a little longer than we expected.
I put RecoveryThreads = 8 to speed up the process of rebuilding indexes, but the process of reading and writing of files check point looks as the main costs of 30 minutes.
Could you tell how to speed up the reading and writing of files of control point to reduce the boot time? Also could you explain why TimesTen need to write checkpoint files at startup. I can easily understand reading the memory checkpoint files (loading data in memory), after loading why TT wirte to checkpoint files?
Concerning
Li
The ttmesg.log will include messages on the number of bytes in a file of control point were read in a certain amount of time, so it is easy to calculate what your reading I/O rate. If you get poor read rates (and therefore take longer to start than desired) TimesTen is embarrassed by this rather than anything that can be tuned in the database. Your speed is about 50GB / 1800 seconds, which is about 30 MB per second. You may want to consider if the I/O reading rate anticipated for your hardware, or if it says improvements are possible. If you are able to locate your files of control point on the SSD or flash, then it is likely to be faster anyway, and then you can take advantage of the parallel control point reads at startup (see the Docs and Note1987463.1 for more details). Readings of parallel to the starting control point are unlikely to help and can actually hinder readings of classical records of spinning.
TimesTen performs a control point at the end of recovery for logs of transaction that he hasn't needed to purge and bring it to a full consistency. The checkpoint also wrote the DB header, which I think has updated during the process of recovery of fields. There may be other reasons for this, but it was always part of the architecture and recovery process.
You could also look at how you close the base database or instance. If you ttDaemonAdmin - stop when there are active connections to the database, you could force the database to be invalidated and therefore much more must be done when you start the instance / reload the database. Note 740819.1 is quite useful to the topic of why you should always try to stop a database free of charge, in order to minimize the time to reboot.

editing of database startup standby automatically
Hi gurus,
I work with a RAC (oracle 11.2.0.3 database) under Red Hat 5.3
yesterday, the server where the database is, mysteriously restarted. But the database does not start automatically, I had to do a manual "startup mount standby database.
There is a setting so that it starts automatically with the mode "startup mount standby database?
I was looking in google but only found scripts that modify the /etc/init.d/dbora or etc/init.d/.dbora.swap, but I guess that this oracle will have a parameter or something to do by itself, I'm wrong?
Thanks for your time.Hello
When clusterware start the resource (the oraagent.) is not a su (switch user) to the user corresponding environment (since this could introduce other errors).
Therefore, no profile (eg..) bash_profile) haven't is run and therefore not active. To pass environment variables required for the database, set the environment in the cluster registry (srvctl setenv).
However, it is one of the reasons why I am personally not a big fan of TNS_ADMIN.

Norton Antivirus slows down startup time in Windows Vista
Hello
need help please, I am led to madness by starting slow time of my laptop.
I he had only a few weeks and don't use it for anything beyond to produce documents word etc.It has been gradually slower on boot and I suspect it has something to do with the protection of Norton antivirus on it software and updates for norton I downloaded (thinking that it was the right thing to do).
Looking at the log for problems and solutions on the computer, the date on which he began really to slow coincides with downloading an update to norton, which I could not uninstall to check if that's really the problem.
In addition, I tried to do a system restore, my laptop could not complete.
I'm stuck on the screen of the BACK for 10 minutes with the message:
PXE - E32 TFTP open timeoutI have no idea what it means, but the newspaper issues and Solutions said something about a blocking of the system?
I looked on the web for other virus protection software and they all seem to have a problem or slow computers and another down to the start.
Did someone knows a solution or should I just make a cup of tea when I turn on my computer and lace with vodka until it is fully charged to the top!
I am a novice when it comes to using computers so would like to receive technical advice.
Thank you
LauraHi guys
I would like to add a few words about my experience using the Symantec Norton Antivirus software.
I used this software long 3 years. It was great because it supports one of the best options for filtering viruses, BUT it really slow downs the operating system.
I didn t use on preinstalled Vista laptop but on Win XP and I must say that the laptop boot process was stopped about 30 sec - 1 min until the entire parts of Norton Antivirus software has started, it is very annoyingHowever, I went to AntiVir. It is described by marina4000 software and I really happy because the startup performance of m.
So finally, I also recommend delete this Symantec Norton Antivirus software and switch to other free AntiVir software ;)
Good bye
