DataGuard and RMAN across Oracle versions

I was curious to know what restrictions we cross versions of Oracle using RMAN and DataGuard.  That is to say, can use DataGuard to ship newspapers a 11.2 a standby 12.1 primary?  We have to restore a database 11.2 12.1?

Support for the mixed Version, for a Data Guard physical standby is generally NOT supported.

Physical standby need primary and standby should be in the same version

You can restore database on 12.1 11.2 House, but must open the database with the option 'open resetlogs upgrade' as binary and db are in different version. We perform db upgrade after the opening of database

What mobile framework Oracle version and JDeveloper are needed to customize the Oracle EBS R12.2.2 and superior?

If you want to extend the pages of EBS, you need to use the OA framework for 12.2 version.  There is no native support for the extension of EBS by using ADF pages.

If you want to build the ADF custom applications that integrate with EBS you can watch using the SDK of the EBS (see My Oracle Support) that offers a number of design patterns to allow you to do.

With respect to the version of Fusion Middleware based on EBS 12.2, take a look at the notes 1911660.1.  11.1.1.6 is currently the base version supplied with 12.2.4 with the 11.1.1.7 version is the highest version supported.

  • 'modernize' forms and reports Oracle version 6 (1995)

We would like to 'modernize' forms and reports Oracle version 6 ERP (1995) that we have developed and I saw gold alternately Oracle Forms and reports in APEX is. We saw a little bit "and we had some problems related to the navigation of the 'grid'. " Our customers in data entry are accustomed to move in grey with enter or Tab to insert new lines and move with the arrow keys. APEX, from the little that we have spent to make a new line, you must click on a new line, you must click on Save to save, to move the arrows are not covered. 90% of our masks are masters details and I tried using the example and I tried to adapt to the navigation of our customers with poor results, but I didn't spend too much time. A good alternative to the deferral report and form in Oracle environment it? Apex is the right way? you can get these things slamming a little ' head? Now, we have tried with PHP configured so that to approach the masks made with forms and States, and libraries DHTMLX... but they are a bit "away from the excellent and actually I use this combination more like business intelligence and statistical computing in general as actual data input masks. " I'm at a crossroads and continue with DHTMLX PHP or try to get your bearings on APEX. For years, we use Oracle DB and if we could take advantage of the APEX in the right way (without changing the lives of our customers with too many clicks on the buttons!) It would be great! Or is there something else around!

Apex is a very good product, however is not a replacement for forms.  It can be used to replace Oracle Forms, but he will rewrite a complete application for most.  It will have benefits and drawback compared to Oracle Forms.  Oracle ADF tends to be a better match for Oracle Forms solutions.  That said, why did you choose to completely rewrite your old application Forms investment of 20 year?  Why not upgrade to forms the latest version which is 11.1.2.2.  With this new version, you can easily integrate with other product (Oracle and non-Oracle), take advantage of many new features and much more.  The main advantage for you (your organization), it's that you won't need to completely rewrite the code of your application.  It is quite simple to form 6 to 11.  Some minor code changes peut prove necessary, but most of the time you can move at will 11 version very little effort in most cases.  Many customers have upgraded to the latest version without changing code at all.

  • Primary and standby database: same Oracle version?

    Hello

We need to create a database of pending in our new data center. The database primary is version Oracle 9.2.0.8 - but only Oracle version 9.2.0.5.0 is installed on the server for the backup site.

Is supported by Oracle anyway? No need to say that in the version 9.2.0.5.0 can be some bugs and other problems which are already fixed in 9.2.0.8.

Would be great if someone could provide the use with a response and a link to Oracle documentation which States: must be the same version or not.

    Any help will be appreciated!

  • Block level of SUPPLY of RMAN catalog DB version and target DBs

    DB catalog version: 11.2.0.2.3
    Target the DBs: 11.2.0.2.3

Currently our catalog DB and target DBs (15 of them) are at the same level of power supply.
Let's apply PSU 5 (11.2.0.2.3) on some of the target DBs. should it apply PSU 5 (11.2.0.2.3) on the DB catalog first before we apply this power on the target of DBs?

    Hi TeslaMan,
Probably, you mean that the RDBMS of the catalogue is version 11.2.0.2.3.
If you are upgrading a CPU target databases, you may need to upgrade the catalog to an equal or higher level schema.
Please check the version of the current catalog with the following sql schema.

    Select * from RCVER;

Maybe you can create a catalog schema dummy with the task until RDBMS rman cli (perhaps you have tested the processor already?) and check the new version with the same sql.

  • Possible to rman duplicate & oracle upgrade at the same time?

We hoped we could use 'RMAN restore backups as part of an upgrade of database [ID 790559.1]' and duplicate a PRD 11.1 DB to another server that has only the 11.2 software. Anyone could do this?

When I tried this, I got an error since the target DB is a version prior to the rman client - ' RMAN-06429: TARGET database is not compatible with this version of RMAN.

I tried to connect to the target database and simply use the following syntax (duplicate "prd" DBID 123456789 to 'dev') to inform the backups, it would be necessary to NetBackup rman. If someone has done this or if it is not possible to do so, please let us know. Our goal is to not have to install the software on our new servers 11.1. Also, trying to avoid the restore with the same name and then rename the DB so that the ASM would have several directories for the DB.

  • How a copy cell text, supporting details and attachments from a Version to another Member?

How a copy cell text, supporting details and attachments from a Version to another Member?

There was a Hyperion Planning 11.1.1.3 copied cell text utility, supporting details and attachments from one (job) Version to another Version (for example Final).  At the time where we ran, data erased!

The old version (11.1.1.3's) Administration, management, copy data doesn't copy the text in the cell, supporting details and attachments from one Version to another Version. Latest version 11.1.2.4 copy these textual data?

    Thank you.

Yes, in 11.1.2.4 data copy copy 'annotations to account', 'support detail' and 'text in the cell. Read below for what copy can do and can't do.

    http://docs.Oracle.com/CD/E57185_01/EPM.1112/planning_admin.PDF

    Copy of data

You can copy plans of one dimensional intersection to another, including relational data and supporting details. For example, you can copy Final of Budget, FY10, FY11, forecast, first draft.

    Notes:

l parameters to copy selected data are kept for the current session only.

members of dimension l copied must be present in the selected plan types.

the data must be copied in the cells that can accept data. For example, you can not copy data in read-only or dynamic of cells.

l , you can copy annotations of account, to support in detail and text in cells. You can't copy annotations unit planning.

l you cannot use this feature with attributes, selecting the attributes to copy.

data l Essbase is copied regardless of selections for the copy of data Options.

l because it is an administrative function, planning means that you have full access to the data you are copying. You cannot copy in the planning units that are approved.

l this feature does not calculate data. To perform calculations, including the increase in the forecast of 5%, apply the business rule after you have copied the data.

l to copy the data to succeed, you must select at least one Member for dimensions scenario, account, entity, period, and Version.

  • Firewall rules RMAN target database and RMAN catalog database

Hi, we are on Oracle 11.2.0.4 and we just build a new environment, in which case the RMAN catalog is located on a seprate from the target database server. I'm trying to figure if the firewall between these two rules should be two-way, so that the target database and RMAN catalog database can ping each other. If bi-directional rules in place, so what's the reason for this? I understand that during RMAN backup entries are made in the RMAN catalog database, but do not know if the RMAN catalog database must always meet target db. Thank you!

If you run the rman command on the target database server, it acts as a client to the catalog database server by connecting on sqlnet to the catalog database.

If you run the rman command on the catalog database server, it's a sqlnet connection join the target database server.

In both cases, rman is simply a client that connects to the two databases.

  • Oracle Version of policy template - how deploy us multiple versions?

Oracle Version of policy template - how deploy us multiple versions of the same rule of thumb in determining server? The intention is to have the rule of thumb in parallel of the versions available and the client to the web service to decide which version to use?

You don't have to reboot - just put "cache.loaded.rulebases = false" in the application.properties file (its value is 'true' by default).  If you rename this * after * deployment then it could give inconsistent results, but must ultimately resolve itself.

    Daniel,

The problem is that you are using the ODBC Postgres driver for the HS_FDS_SHAREABLE_NAME parameter, but this must be an ODBC driver manager and not the driver ODBC Psotgres.
    Go to the.

    http://www.unixODBC.org/

Click the 'Download' and follow the instructions to download the 2.3.1 pilot and make libraries and programs.

Once this is done, then use the driver as parameter HS_FDS_SHAREABLE_NAME Manager, for example-

    HS_FDS_SHAREABLE_NAME =/home/odbc64/unixODBC/2.3.1/lib/libodbc.so

Depending on where you install it.

Yesterday, we detected this error because SQL do not run.

The error repeat 47times and there are 6 different files-block combination (4 index of schemas, tables sys and ¡2 1!)

First of all, I launched expdp and exp of a problematic figure. Exports were fine, no error when you export, but in the alert.log don't show a block corruption. He exp and experienced display error and stop?

Then, I used dbv and check all dbfs. Display only the 2 error of blocks in two data files (index).

    Then, I have used RMAN:
    (A) database check: no error.
    (B) validate the database: error in two blocks (logical error) and different from the 6 in the alert.log. The two blocks are clues.

I re - create the two index. When I re - create, the block error disappear (not immediate, assume that disappear when the block was rewriting). Now, dbv and rman show no errors.

I read a note on the types of errors, the other on procedures if db is in archivelog/noarchivelog. Also if the object is a table or index. But I find nothing corrupt self-repair blocks in Oracle or why now the 6 block error are resolved. I don't know if the two tables with two block corrupt lines lost or not.

    Appreciate any help.
