DCUI: COMMAND NOT FOUND
Hello all;
I'm about to upgrade my server ESXi from 4.1 to 5.1 in the next few days. I through vCenter Update Manager and have taken the appropriate steps of research. My question & concern is good.
I want to see want happens through DCUI but I don't get - bash: dcui: command not found
Now, I have followed the links:
VMware KB: Access Direct Console User Interface (DCUI) since a SSH session
VMware KB: Enabling root on an ESX host SSH connection
and logged in as root but the command does not run. I'm not able to view the DCUI (which is weird, indicating that another host on the vCenter, I can't PuTTy (SSH) in this host and see the fine, same DCUI ESX & build number.)
Any Suggestions?
You can connect to the Service Console, but keep in mind, there is no way to make a room upgrade from ESX to ESXi - 4 or 5 - there must be a new installation.

Hi Friedhold
You can start the command line WLS_FORMS?
I want to know if it's a configuration nodemanger error or a forms runtime error.
12 c you must start all managed servers command line the first time. 11 g, Oracle made for you.
12 c is no security directory to the boot.properties file so create.
If information of name of user and password of the noch (boot.properties or Nodemanager) are then forms are not used will be able to start

vifptarget: command not found since the upgrade
I upgraded my camera vma 5.1.0.0 Build build 782391 to 5.1.0.1 1062361 this morning and now when I try to issue the vifptarget command to specify one of the guests in my list as target I get
-bash: vifptarget: command not found
I can see the man page for the command and I noticed that it in/opt/vmware/vma/bin/as well as vifp that works to add or remove hosts.
I tried a logout or restart the device, but that did not help. I tried to add location of the command on my way and that only errors generated.

You can try:
1. from the vMA console, open the /etc/bash.bashrc file in the vi editor.
2. Add the following lines at the end of /etc/bash.bashrc
alias vifptarget = ' source/opt/vmware/vma/bin/vifptarget '.
source/opt/vmware/vma/bin/completion_vifp
source/opt/vmware/vma/bin/completion_vifptarget
source/opt/vmware/vma/bin/completion_vifs
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH = ${LD_LIBRARY_PATH: + $LD_LIBRARY_PATH :} / opt/vmware/vma/lib64: / opt/vmware/vma/lib}
3. run:
/etc/bash.bashrc source

esxupdate - command not found ESX 4.0.0
Trying to get our patched up ESX environment. It was installed by my predecessor, and nothing was ever patched.
When I try to run esxupdate (in root), I get "Command not found". I have access to/usr/sbin / and see esxupdate in there, but I can't run it yet.
I'm a complete linux noob, so I'm stumbing around that with a lot of Google searches and poke-hope and methods. Can someone help me? I would like to fix some of the bugs that this environment has...
Welcome to the community,
Although patches can use command line tools, the recommended method for patch/update is using the Update Manager. Since you mention ESX, I guess you have vCenter Server and Manager Update up!

Command not found in the service console ESX 4.0 u2
Hi all
I have a very simple question.
I have haven´t access to the service console ESX 4.0 for some time and today I need run commands to verify information on some host bus adapters.
I logged a user then used 'su root' to switch to the ROOT user.
I use Putty to connect to the Service Console.
But when I try to execute the following commands it said "Command Not Found":
vmkload_mod
esxcfg-module
I read VMware KBs, that say to use these commands for this version of ESX, but I can´t do run.
I think the answer is something very simple, but I can´t find it.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thank you
Mark
Try this command:
quo
as documented in http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1006573

You can try browsing to f4fpackager with the following command installation directory?
CD/opt/adobe/ams/tools
And then try to launch f4fpackager as follows:
. / f4fpackager
If need be, you can load libraries as follows:
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH =.

esxcfg - command not found.
Good afternoon-
I'm changing the IP address of a remote server ESX, and I get an error:
esxcfg
-bash: esxcfg: command not found
I looked under/usr/bin and the command is not yet listed here.
I tried "su-" and still get the same error.
I am 100% positive that I'm connected with root
Any other suggestions?
You are looking for specific orders from the network. Try these
esxcfg-vswif
esxcfg-vswitch
esxcfg-vmknic
You can type man esxcfg-vswif for more information about the command.
Make sure that you have access to the consoles before attempting to change the IP settings on a remote system.
