DDR4 RAM on iMac 5K?

Hello

According to Intel, the 6th generation of their processors support DDR4. Yes wil an i7 iMac 5K 4 GHz (Gen 6) end 2015 handle DDR4? Or is - this software provided is not possible (OSX El Capitan)?

Greetings

Compatible RAM is:

  • Technology: DDR3L SO-DIMM
  • Density: 8 GB (8192 MB)
  • RoHS: Yes
  • Number of pins: 204-pin
  • Op. Temp. : 0C to + 85 c
  • Flow: DDR3L-1600
  • Speed: PC3-12800
  • CL: 11
  • Duration: 1.875ns
  • Voltage: 1.35v
  • ECC: No ECC
  • Class module: Dual Rank
  • Registry: Parity no

If you want the computer to function properly only install this RAM. iMacs are generally very sensitive to RAM, RAM vendors recommended OWC (www.macsales.com) or Crucial if you buy directly from Crucial.

Good luck.

  • Problem with upgrade RAM on iMac 21 ", mid-2011

    Hello

my iMac has 4 RAM slots. Already built in which 2x2gb. I have it decorated 2 x 4 GB.

After a while, I met a problem, a strange tone while booting, RAM failure signalling. I removed a RAM 2 GB module, my iMac worked well for overall with 10 GB of RAM, but more slowly. I bought another 2x4gb and wanted to improve the memory. Once the odd tone.

What really surprised me, that even I have exchanged only the remaining 2 GB module with a module of 4GB, even leading to the Strange tone (of course also two openings with 4 GB respectively). 2 former GB slots do not work with 4 GB of RAM modules, even if the capacity of the iMac is 16 GB.

I tried the Apple, no where to found error hardware test. I was carefully choosing compatible right modules RAM (Corsair DDR3, 1 333 Mhz).

    What's wrong with my iMac?

  • What is the maximum RAM for iMac 21 "mid 2011?

    Hello

According to the specifications of apple, there are 16 GB.

According to MacTracker: Maximum memory: 32 (real) 16 GB (apple)

    What does that mean?

When Apple released the iMac 21 inches mid 2011, Apple has tested the iMac with only 16 GB installed.

It is possible to increase the RAM up to 32 GB.

  • Mid range iMac with 16 GB of RAM or Imac 4 k with 8 GB?

    Hello

I have some doubts about my purchase between this two imac. Now, I have a Macbook pro 15 "mid-2010, intel core i5 2, 53ghz, and I upgraded the ram from 4 GB to 8 GB two years ago. It works well, but little work with after effects (not professional) is so slow, just now, and other apps open like photoshop, illustrator(professional use) at the same time is not a good idea. I think that the CPU is limiting.

    So, I have two doubts:

-J' I notice a significant difference in performance with a new imac like that?

-If I decide finally buy a while ago, what could be the best decision to have a good computer for another 6 years and my work: mid-range imac with 16 GB or imac 4 k with 8 GB (two 21.5 because I prefer)? Top models are so much money for me.

    Thank you guys.

(Sorry for my English is not my language)

For "future verification", it is not wise to buy an iMac 21.5 "with less the amount of maximum available ram. 8 GB can be enough today that is not being upgraded after purchase and you may quickly regret your decision.

  • 8 GB Samsung DDR4 RAM stick works does not in T130

I just bought a Dell Poweredge T130 with 8 GB of RAM. I wanted to expand the memory up to 16 GB so I tried to install a 8GB ECC Samsung DDR4 module without success. I have no experience using ECC RAM, if my guess is that there are requirements for RAM that I'm unaware of.

I started by pulling the module installed in the factory and installed instead of the new module of Samsung, but when booting, the BIOS indicates that no usable module is installed. I checked that it is well placed in the slot.

    Module does not: Samsung 8 GB 1Rx4-2133 P-RC0-10-DC0 (M393A1G40DB0-CPB0Q)

    Factory-installed module: SK Hynix 2Rx8 PC4-2133 P-EE0-10 (HMA41GU7AFR8N-TF)

I can see that Hynix module which is installed in the PowerEdge is 2Rx8 and the Samsung is 1Rx4 - is this the reason?

    Best regards

The T130 sever supports modules memory only unbuffered, UDIMM. The module of memory in question is registered, RDIMMS that are not supported and so system makes it as unusable as it cannot be detected. Consider using the module of memory without buffer P/N H5P71

As mentioned previously, the problem here is that RDIMMs are not supported on the server and not mix strips of different grades. Bars of memory of different grades can be combined.

  • Can I upgrade an end iMac 2014 with 5 K retina display up to 64 GB RAM?

Hi, I have an iMac with Retina Display 5 K at the end of 2014. It is maximally in each record except the RAM. I heard that the new iMac end 2015 can manage up to 64GB, despite what Apple has posted on their specifications (32GB). The end of 2014 iMac can also manipulate the 64 GB? My drive is 3 TB Fusion.

Unfortunately, only the end of 2015 iMac supports 64 GB of RAM. IMac late 2014 can manage up to 32 GB of RAM, but nothing more.

  • Transfer of ram on macbook (early 2008) iMac 8.1?

Hi, is it safe if I transfer 2 ram sticks of a macbook (early 2008) for an Imac 8.1 (core 2 duo)? Or I have to get different ram for imac?

Also how can I clean the ram because its pretty dusty on one side of it.

They are not the same memory.

  • Cannot increase the RAM in end-15 27 "iMac, retina

    This question drove me crazy.

End of last year, I bought an iMac 27 "new retina (17.1 model) with 16 GB of RAM of factory. I have since decided to upgrade to 32 GB myself - but apparently not.

I tried both levels of separate module of Crucial (both sticks 2x8GB, configured by using memory widget Crucial own the latter, so I think it was the 'right' RAM). Both times, after the installation, my iMac would not start. I get the kernel panic, then reboot after reboot goes no further than the Apple logo.

Conjecturing that it must be a problem with Crucial RAM, I ordered two modules from OWC. This time, I realized an online chat with a Counsellor OWC just to make sure that the triple, I was getting the right modules.

Result: same kernel panics, same inability to start. After you have uninstalled the aftermarket RAM my iMac works fine.

And, Yes, I want to install RAM correctly (I did several times with previous computers that are much more difficult to upgrade). I also tried the papillotes in different slots (lots of combinations), switch reset PRAM, etc. etc. Nothing works.

I wonder... all the stories of 'success' on Amazon and Crucial and OWC come people who completely REPLACE their factory in RAM with spare sticks? Seriously, I think that the issue is an incompatibility with the aftermarket RAM and the factory stuff. On the other hand, I am reluctant to throw 16 GB of perfectly good 'Apple' RAM just to open the four slots for 32 GB OWC.

I know that Crucial has been (or is still) a provider of RAM to Apple, so this is really surprising.

It is interesting to try to pick up sticks 'factory' (which will be costly, of course)? I believe that my 'Apple' RAM made by Samsung. Is there a reliable source for this?

Or I'm doing something completely wrong? (Can't imagine what it would be. I've even been through a chat tech with OWC has nothing to help).

In fact, I wonder if I now won't be able to max out my RAM (assuming I decide to eBay my Apple sticks and just go all new).

Difficult for me to believe that the iMac is that picky about RAM...

    Thanks for the ideas.

I do not have a 2015 end iMac, so I don't know if the problem which arose with iMac 2010 might be similar; before connecting a couple of these very long old threads, most of the problems was: the iMac 27 "would go happily with factory all the RAM, or with less of a mix of OEM and third party RAM (12 GB) max, but would have problems with 16 GB of third party RAM maxed out. I used to have a such 2010 and stayed with a total of 12 GB of RAM (OEM 4 GB and 8 GB of RAM from OWC) worked well.

    Problem with 16 GB on 2010 iMac 27 "i5 & i7.

    I7 memory issues new iMac 27 "2010

Other than the usual suspects such as faulty RAM, RAM slot, or not seated correctly, if you have time, you might want to try to install unless the maximum - it is a shot in the dark, but...

  • Hi once again, what is the best 8 GB of RAM DDR4 compatible?

    No, it will not work

  • DDR4

    Hi guys,.

Is there a possibility for Apple to introduce new models of Imac with DDR4 Rams? I'm about to buy one and frankly, I don't want to be updated on the day 1

Thank you in advance for your answers

    Tolga

FWIW, this is a user to user forum and no one here has no indication of Apple's future plans.

  • updated my iMAC 7.1 with 4 GB of memory with the intention to go to El Capitan, but after reading how it slows down the speed, I was wondering if going to Yosemite is a better choice.

Updated my iMAC 7.1 with 4 GB of memory with the intention to go to El Capitan, but after reading the slowness becomes the MAC, it would be best to go with Yosemite?

If you upgrade the amount of RAM your iMac should be able to handle El Capitan nicely.

  • iMac is slow on Login

I'm running OS X 10.11.5 on an Intel Core i5 to 2.7 GHz, 4 GB RAM, 27 "iMac. After successive updates over the past two years, the computer has become very slow. There so bad that I recently re-formatted the drive and re-installed the operating system from scratch. I always have the same question. I do not have much running on this computer: Office, Dropbox and use it mainly for the web and e-mail.

When I connect (for instance after return to the computer at the end of the day he wake up sleep mode), my drive goes crazy. Looks like it's reading or writing or swap files from memory. It does this for several minutes. While this is happening, I can't really use the computer. I can't understand what is the cause. I check activity monitor (CPU, memory, disk) to see if there is an application that is causing the disc to do this. Nothing seems strange to me. I see the activity monitor, Kernel_Task, Firefox, WindowServer and certain other active phenomena, but noting seems abnormal. I even try killing them one by one to see if that makes a difference, but it has no effect. I know Dropbox devours cycles when its indexation, but this often happens when Dropbox is up-to-date and don't do anything. When the disc is stopped, the computer seems to be normal.

Someone knows how to fix this? What else should I look for?

    Thank you!

On the alarm system is a household that was after midnight - you don't have to leave your mac all the time.

(its tips unix), you do not have enough RAM to run all applications that you want to have active at the same time.   Handling of RAM changed with Yosemite - so no problem with maverick running the same thing means not much.
