• Windows Update under XP Professional 64 bit icon has changed and does not work in the Start Menu

  I didn't want to be informed of updates to two-day but inadvertently somehow I am struck back for all notifications.

  Windows Update icon turned blue light with an i or an exclamation mark inside. When I click it, nothing happens. I can access the automatic updates in Control Panel to change the settings, but I still don't get the notifications.

  How to make it all back please?

  PS, I can always access updates through http://www.update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/default.aspx?ln=en-us , but I don't want to do that.

• The most visited folder on the toolbar is not up-to-date and does not the same content as the list of the most visited in the bookmarks library.

  The content in the most visited tag on my toolbar doesn't seem to update and contains a few sites I have visited only once. If I look to organize Favorites there is a library for the most visited folder that seems to have a correct information, which is very different from the list of sites under the label of toolbar. How can I get the latest update list?

  If a copy and paste of the Working Group "Most visited" bookmark in the bookmarks (library) Manager only gives not a working copy you can create a new "Most visited" bookmark with location defined place: sort = 8 & maxResults = 10

  You must paste the full text in the location field of this new bookmark and probably need to close and restart Firefox to make it work like a smart bookmark.

I don't know the reasons why it is not available for public download, this is the final version (not beta). It is a customized version and Toshiba only can distribute. Please contact Toshiba support.

  Sorry, but I think you're a little frustrated and you obviously don t understand what real problem there is. Do not be frustrated. All, to an explanation or a solution even.

  First of all if you need assistance, you can call Toshiba hotline in your country and try to learn more about your problem. For each European country, Toshiba has a web page where you can find information on phone numbers and info how to contact Toshiba. Unfortunately, it is not the same for each country and if you go to http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com the site of the left hand you will find the hotline number. Call them and explain what you want to know. I hope that you will be able to contact the right person.

  Back to the question of the utility! It is logical that the producer of software is most often one step as a producer for laptop and before the tool is provided for download, it must be tested. It seems that the software producer has new version that is created for Windows Vista, IE7 and FF2.0. As you know that Windows Vista is not officially released and thereby there is no new version of Vista available on the Toshiba download page. I'm 100% sure after Vista start new version will be available for download. You will see that the new laptop Vista pre-installed will have this new version.

  As far as I know official Vista launch term is end of January.

  By the way: it will be interesting to know what model of laptop and preinstalled OS you are using.

  Assuming that it's just a problem with the recovery media, here's another solution, you can try.

  Before you try the following, make sure that you can always read the character product activation key 25 on your label Windows COA (5 blocks of 5 alphanumeric games).

  You can create a Windows 7 installation disc yourself using another PC - just download the good Disk Image ( it must be the same version that originally shipped with your laptop - IE if your laptop comes with Windows 7 Home Premium, that is the file you need to download ) from the link below and use an app like ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly file on a blank DVD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write an ISO on a disc is here.  The source of the Image is - Digital River.

I tried the various help and resets listed in the site support, and also through a search engine search.  No solution that was out there was again active. I tried to reset the file .dll, re-installed McAfee, closed, deleted and re-installed the gadget.  I'm running to do a total reinstall of Vista (not), but I don't really want to do this for a simple gadget.   This behavior is observed if the XML registration is missing in the system. To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

  • Close the Windows Sidebar . To do this, right-click on the Sidebar icon in the Notification area, and then clickoutput (GK: in the case of Windows 7, press Windows key + R > typetaskmgr and press enter > Proccesses tab > selectsidebar.exe > click on the end process button)
  • Open an elevated command prompt window. To do this, clickStart , click principally made programs , Accessories , right-clickguest , and then click run as administrator .
  • In the command prompt window, type the following command and press ENTER:

  Similarly, run these commands:

• When I try to burn a music disc player is registered as a DATA reader and does not allow me to copy music files that I can play on an external source

  I have computer aGateway running Vista Home Edition and something happened with WIndows Media Player.   I have the DVD/RW internal drive and external DVD/RW as a player.  I use them mainly to copy music files and it has always worked fine until yesterday.

  When I try to burn a music disc, the player is registered as a DATA reader and does not allow me to copy music files that I can play on an external source (such as the CD or car drive).  Worked fine Saturday and had burned discs Saturday night recognizes the two drives as data drives.

  Is it something that needs to be reset or changed?

  In WMP, please click the button burn up and make sure that the Audio CD is selected. Then try burning the CD again, they now play on a standalone CD player too.
