"Default" folder of the deleted user

Somehow my 'Default' user folder has been removed from C:\Users. This means I can create is no longer new users, as I just get the "opening of the session... impossible user profile service. "etc when I try to load the new user, because there is no profile by default so that it can be created from...

Basically, my question is "is it possible to restore the folder of the user 'Default', or anywhere I can download it?

Thank you very much!

Found the answer!

I'm glad you found a solution and thanks for the comments. Two points remain:

  • You have no idea how the folder could be gone?
  • Have you given any consideration to create and maintain an image of your machine? As I loaded Windows 7 2 years ago, I was forced to fall back to a recent picture on five occasions. In each case, I had a minor but irritating problem that has defied my best efforts to solve.

  • Permissions problems after manual migration of the deleted user

I am the admin of my iMac, although there are a couple of other users. After rising problems with accidents, which does not reinstall OS X, my user account has become so corrupted that Finder would launch is no longer and I was forced to do something drastic. Not wanting to reproduce the problem, I decided to give up Time Machine restore and I have just created a new user for myself and deleted my previous user account, preserving its content.

It turns out that the copy of my user deleted to my new files was not something Apple intention we can do.

I changed the permissions on all the files in the old (deleted) user folder to read and write to my new user and applies this setting to the contents of all folders. However, I was still unable to move the folders in my new user folder - it copied instead. Okay, well, it makes everything more difficult, but I worked through it. Now that the files have been copied to my new user folder and permissions are certainly on my current user (admin), OS X still think that I don't "own" them, i.e., I can't move things and I type my admin password to be able to copy things.

Many Google searches on this issue have turned only complex terminal procedures that I'm not of course are worth risking. I hope that someone here in the infinitely knowledgeable Mac community has a solution for me. Thanks in advance for any help.

Have you changed the file property?
If this isn't the case, then you can change the ownership of the file using the chown command in terminal.

Using one of the administrator account on the machine, you can run:

    sudo chown - Rv User1/Users/user3/dir1 /.
(where "user1" will be the user that you want to change the property of and "/ Users/user/dir1 / ' will be the path of the file/directory or file you want to make this change to) [you might be promoted a password if you just enter the password there is no feedback that the password entered]

Once the user has files that you should have no problem moving them to the users directory.

  • Rename a folder in the tree "users."

I give a Lap Top PC to my niece. I want to delete any mention of my name. I've done pretty good so far. I changed the name of the PC to its name. But, in Windows Explorer, there is always a folder with my name. It's in the "Users" folder tree I tried to rename it, but this option is not listed in a right click. There AppData folders and files, so I don't want to delete it. How can I rename it? Please and thank you for your help.

PS, I plan on upgrading to Windows 7.

It can't be renamed directly because it could break the installed programs, operating system and features.

The recommendation is to go to the Control Panel, choose users, and add a new user with the name of your choice.  Then delete the old user.

Please help (basically, we need a way of saying the file is not a system volume to migrate to its default location.

    Hi Kathleen,.

For your information the travel records user is not recommended by Microsoft.

To restore the user folder to the default location, try the steps for all the user folder to the default location.

    a. in Windows 8.1, go to research charm, type %UserProfile%, and select the folder whose name reads something like C:\Users\yourname.

    b. once there, you can move your documents.
    c. right-click on the Documents folder. Select Properties.
    d. click on the location tab
    e. click on restore by default and then restart the computer

    f. when the process is complete, repeat it with photos, music, videos and all the other files that you want to move to the default location.

I hope this helps. Let us know the status of the issue.

I would like to change the location of the folder of bookmarks created by star.

I don't think that there is a built-in way to do it.

To call the dialog box with the Menu bookmarks instead of Unsorted Bookmarks, you can use one of these methods:

    • CTRL + d
    • Right-click on an empty area of the page, then click the star on the shortcut menu
    • (menu bar) Menu bookmarks > bookmark this Page

  • is it possible to install FF outside the folder of the windows user?

My work pc (windows 7) has a roaming profile. I'm local admin. The maximum size of my user account profile is only 100 MB. The first thing I did when I got a new OS was trying to install FF. That worked well, but after a few days, my profile has exceeded the 100 mb. FF amounted to more than 50 MB of data. Mainly in the app data files hidden.

So here's my question. Is it possible to do a custom installation, with a minimum amount of data in my win7 user account?

The simplest solution would be to use Firefox Portable instead.

  • Default environment for the Oracle user at the launch of the Scheduler?

    Hello:

It's probably pretty basic, but I have not yet found the answer. I'm trying to run an import job using imp of the Scheduler. I modified the $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin/externaljob.ora file so that the work is run as user oracle. If I take the result of 'whoami' in the program, he said yes I am oracle, but ORACLE_HOME etc. are not defined. Is - this intentional? I would think that it runs the .bashrc etc to get the right environment for the user.

    Thank you.

You can't count on any variable defined in the environment.

  • Cannot remove folder AppData in the closed user - administrator account is not enough - owner is "HomeUsers' - OS Win7 Home Premium

Because it is not possible in Home Premium Win7 for access to the control administrator privileges, I can't understand how to erase all files from the folder of the deleted user.  The user, Jake, had somehow "HomeUsers" as long as the owner of the folder for some reason any.  I checked in another location and Jake folder has been shared with the residential group which is listed as the owner?

Can I download a utility that will allow me to have the equivalent of control of folders and groups in professional Win7 and Optimum of operation systems.  All I want to do is remove AppData folder hidden from Jake and all of its subfolders.  I tried to change the owner of HomeUsers to the administrator which I already activated.  But the administrator does not sufficient privileges to delete the folder and subfolders, one at a time or all at once. Or from the bottom up (first of all the latest files and folders).

From what I see in Google ads there are a lot of hit us this security risk... The folder has been shared and accessible for a reason even if we used Page sharing to enable sharing and direct access to the records is used to disable sharing. That's why I pulled off the system Jake account.  We need assistance.  It's not a glitch in nice.  Something had access to our system and that access to create a more powerful than the administrator user.

Try to delete the file when logged in as an administrator in Mode safe account. If failure repeated, follow these steps:

    1. Use F8 during startup to start the machine in Repair Mode.
    2. Open a command prompt.
    3. Type this command:
      RD /s /q C:\Users\Jake

Deleting a folder of this profile is permanent. You will not be able to restore it from the Recycle Bin.

  • Finder keep it open the file even after I change the default folder

I have the problem with the default folder in the finder.

A few months ago, I changed the default folder from the finder to a specific folder. Now, I want to change to the new folder. I already go to finder > Preferences > General > new poster finder window and change the folder, but whenever I click on the finder on the dock for the first time, keep the change back to the old folder. What should I do with this?

    Thank you for the help

    HI there Alia80,

Looks like you set your Finder preferences to open a specific folder when you open a new window, but it seems to keep coming back to what it was previously set to. I would first start safe mode and if some system-level caches can be erased, and a check disk and repair is done automatically:

Try safe mode if your Mac does not end commissioning

Follow these steps to start in safe mode.

    1. Start or restart your Mac.
    2. As soon as you hear the startup tone, hold down the SHIFT key.
    3. Release the SHIFT key when you see the logo Apple appears on the screen.

After the Apple logo appears, this may take longer than usual to reach the login screen or your office. This is because your Mac performs a check of directory of your drive to boot in safe mode.

To leave safe mode, restart your computer without pressing any keys during startup.

Once you log in safe mode, let him by making a normal restart and test the issue again.

If it persists after this test this point in a new admin on your computerand user let me know what is happening there:

OS X El Capitan: set up users on your Mac.
