Default object style is not applied

I use InDesign CS6 on Windows 7. I have a newsletter that I throw quarterly, which contains a lot of pictures. I always feel like my photos using a Style of particular object and in the pane object Styles-> graphic block default Style, I confirmed that the style I want is set as the default. But when I drag in each new photo (or use file-> Place), it always starts as "[no] + ', which means no selected style but only a few replacements. I have no idea where he had the idea to do and selected style each time getting boring over the years. Any suggestions on how to solve this?

This is a long-standing bug. The style is hard coded, apparently, for the tool framework so normal selected object never styles are applied when you place or no drawing a frame.

There is an undocumented feature added in CS4 (and it has always worked until CS6 - did not check in more recent versions) which resolves this problem partly. If you create an object called Frame Gun on-site style will apply to new frameworks created by placing (but not to the frameworks you draw first). http://InDesignSecrets.com/applying-an-object-style-when-placing-an-image.php

  • Effects of object for a frame graphical style does not apply to its content

    I want to set an object style for a graphic frame with these features:

    1. Background color of frame: 10% black
    2. Placed image: multiply the effect (blend mode: multiply)

    It is really a very simple thing to do... manually. But I want a placed image automatically multiply on a gray background. In the next image as an attachment, you see, from top to bottom:

    1. Original frame with the black background of 10%
    2. Picture with white background
    3. Image placed with multiply blending mode

    Captura de pantalla 2016-08-04 a las 18.49.27.png

    I don't know how to specify a style object that applies to the effect of "multiply blending mode" for the image placed inside.

    Object styles apply to objects only, not to the content in a graphic block. As close as you can get to touching the content is mounting Options for editing of an image placed in an empty block.

    You may be able to speed up your manual process of applying multiply at an entire page or spread of images simultaneously.

    1. Select all the graphics frames on a page or spread with your selection tool (v).
    2. Click on the button select the content in the control panel (see table)
    3. Apply multiply at all the images at once

    I hope this helps!

  • Clicking on a paragraph Style does not apply text Style

    I just switched from a PC to a whole new MacBook Pro (OS x 10.7 Lion), and InDesign CS5.5 bought. I use CS4 on a PC for a few years and had no problems. For some reason, I can't apply Styles to paragraph by moving my cursor in the text and clicking the paragraph style. It highlights the style clicked for a while and then goes to value all styles, but does not apply the changes. The only way I can apply a Style of paragraph right now is click with the right button on the style and selecting 'apply... '. "in the menu dropdown. It is very curious. I was wondering if anyone had experience with this. I also have Microsoft Office: Mac 2011 installed on the laptop, if it makes a difference to anyone. Any help would be greatly appreciated, since I dial and change my life, and this problem slows me down a bit.

    Right on any of the third party plug-ins. It was actually 'good Zoom '. A third-party application that corrects some native zonky zoom behavior for Mac. I disabled it, and it has cleared up the problem. It's pretty strange, however, isn't it? Thanks for your help!

  • Software Simulation, default object Styles?

    I use Cap 9. Try out the features of the software simulation. Is it possible to apply a style to text objects that Captivate automatically adds the screens?

    I can't call them the text captions because they are not individual objects in the timeline panel. So far, they seem to be grouped into a single object that I can move individually and manually resize (required every time!). Be able to apply a style that would allow them to save a lot of work.

    Is there a way to do this?

    Are you sure these are legends, not forms? Because the two objects can be selected in preferences, check, default values. At this place, you will find also all the default styles for the registration of the software simulations. And you can easily navigate to the Style Manager object.

    If you want to change the style after the capture, you change to a legend (or form), then use the button of menu hamburger (top-right with three horizontal lines) where you can apply the changes to the existing style.

  • Style is not applied to the generated WebHelp

    I use RoboHelp 2015 on a Windows 7 computer.  I copied a project to help on the Web in a new directory, and then opened it to WebHelp.  The project was created many years ago and updated over the years.  The last default.css file is in this directory and also in the generated output directory.

    When I generate WebHelp output, all styles are applied correctly except one.  The name of this style, COLUMNNAME, is all uppercase.  The rest of the style names are uppercase or all lowercase.  Why didn't that one style in the document being not properly formatted?

    This model has a color applied.  A different style in a document has a color applied and it works well.

    The style of formatting shows up properly in the ap of RoboHelp.  If I click on the text, and then double-click the style, setting style format and then display correctly in the generated output.  This would be OK except that I have thousands of text with this style.

    Thanks for your help.

    Have you considered a topic where this style is used? In the heading is COLUMNNAME your CSS file maybe it's now Columname and there is a mismatch.

  • Nested style were not applied

    In InDesign CS4 (6.0.6) I have a problem with nested styles, returning to the main paragraph style. The nested style is set to apply for a period, but it's randomly switch back on the font used in the paragraph style. Some paragraphs have the nested style applied and others do not (see table).  Unknown yet, the paragraph Styles Panel does not show the substitutions to the style (or is erase replacements an option in the dialog box) but if I option click on the style, the number will return to its true nested state.

    I thought it might be a conflict of fonts, but I already checked the editors of machines (we have an InCopy workflow) as well as mine and nobody has no substitute fonts in use.

    Is this a known bug? Anyone had this problem before? We had this question pop up at random before but never this close a date press option so usually just click on even though we do not know how it goes. We're a little freaked out. Any help would be appreciated.

    Out of curiosity, I decided to do a search/replace for the STAGE of paragraph Style RECIPE and replaced by the STAGE of RECIPE of paragraph Style. Interestingly, I've corrected in fact the nested style when I would click on change. It makes me wonder if something in InDesign was not recognizing as paragraphs with this style applied?

    For the purposes of closure, I'll mark the thread as answered, even if we discover the technical problem at the origin of the problem. In my opinion, is just a bug (not a feature).

  • Custom Css style does not apply to the dynamic element

    Hello world

    I created this simple Css style just to test

    CSSStyle customCss = new CSSStyle();

    customCss.setProperty ("color", "#ee0000"); / / #-rouge

    When I put in a text input, it works perfectly

    But when I put the same style to a dynamic messageSyledText point, it does not work, the color does not change.

    I need to know if it's because this isn't a property of an element of messageStyledText, or there is problem because this is dynamic?

    Personally, I don't see where the problem may be. I tried to delete the cache, but it still does not work

    Can someone please tell me where can be the problem?

    Thank you

    Have you added any other Css on the lifeTimeRN of the region?

  • Style does not apply to the text in the preview or publish

    I created a character style to apply to the section headings in my subjects. The style is included in the file .css with the appropriate attributes. On the WYSIWYG component, everything seems perfect, but on the preview and after that I publish, the style has disappeared.

    I checked the file .css on the host server and it is as it should be (to the best of my knowledge). Is there anything else I could check to fix this?

    Thank you for your help.

  • Script will not apply the paragraph style

    Hello

    I'm new to scripting in InDesign (CS3), and I'm trying to understand why the scipt below does not apply a style in the following text file? :

    < ASCII-WIN >

    < ParaStyle: Heading 1 > who are we? < ParaStyle >:

    For ease of reading, I have shortend the text file to just two lines.

    The script that I use to open and to format the text file is:

    Create a new document.

    myDocument var = app.documents.add ();

    Set the units of measure and the origin of the rule.

    myDocument.viewPreferences.horizontalMeasurementUnits = MeasurementUnits.points;

    myDocument.viewPreferences.verticalMeasurementUnits = MeasurementUnits.points;

    myDocument.viewPreferences.rulerOrigin = RulerOrigin.pageOrigin;

    Get a reference to the first master spread.

    var myMasterSpread = myDocument.masterSpreads.item (0);

    Get a reference to preferences on the margins of the first page in the Master spread.

    var myMarginPreferences = myMasterSpread.pages.item (0) .marginPreferences;

    Now set up the page margins and columns.

    myMarginPreferences.left = 4;

    myMarginPreferences.top = 70;

    myMarginPreferences.right = 70;

    myMarginPreferences.bottom = 78;

    myMarginPreferences.columnCount = 2;

    myMarginPreferences.columnGutter = 14;

    The margins of page and columns for the right-hand page.

    var myMarginPreferences = myMasterSpread.pages.item (1) .marginPreferences;

    myMarginPreferences.left = 48;

    myMarginPreferences.top = 70;

    myMarginPreferences.right = 70;

    myMarginPreferences.bottom = 78;

    myMarginPreferences.columnCount = 3;

    myMarginPreferences.columnGutter = 14;

    Adding Master Page items

    var myMasterSpread = myDocument.masterSpreads.item (0);

    var myLeftPage = myMasterSpread.pages.item (0);

    var myRightPage = myMasterSpread.pages.item (1);

    var myLeftFooter = myLeftPage.textFrames.add ();

    myLeftFooter.geometricBounds = [70, 742, 728, 528];

    myLeftFooter.textFramePreferences.firstBaselineOffset = FirstBaseline.leadingOffset;

    myLeftFooter.contents = SpecialCharacters.autoPageNumber;

    myLeftFooter.parentStory.characters.item (0) .pointSize = 11;

    myLeftFooter.parentStory.characters.item (0) .leading = 14;

    var myRightFooter = myRightPage.textFrames.add ();

    myRightFooter.geometricBounds = [48, 742, 728, 542];

    myRightFooter.textFramePreferences.firstBaselineOffset = FirstBaseline.leadingOffset;

    myRightFooter.contents = SpecialCharacters.autoPageNumber;

    myRightFooter.parentStory.characters.item (0) .pointSize = 11;

    myRightFooter.parentStory.characters.item (0) .leading = 14;

    myRightFooter.parentStory.characters.item (0) .justification = Justification.rightAlign;

    Adding master text frames

    var myLeftPage = myMasterSpread.pages.item (0);

    var myRightPage = myMasterSpread.pages.item (1);

    var myLeftTextFrame = myLeftPage.textFrames.add ();

    myLeftTextFrame.geometricBounds = [70, 70, 714, 528];

    myLeftTextFrame.textFramePreferences.firstBaselineOffset = FirstBaseline.leadingOffset;

    myLeftTextFrame.textFramePreferences.textColumnCount = 3;

    myLeftTextFrame.textFramePreferences.textColumnGutter = 14;

    Add a label to make the image easier to find later.

    myLeftTextFrame.label = "BodyTextFrame";

    var myRightTextFrame = myRightPage.textFrames.add ();

    myRightTextFrame.geometricBounds = [70, 48, 714, 542];

    myRightTextFrame.textFramePreferences.firstBaselineOffset = FirstBaseline.leadingOffset;

    myRightTextFrame.textFramePreferences.textColumnCount = 3;

    myRightTextFrame.textFramePreferences.textColumnGutter = 14;

    Add a label to make the image easier to find later.

    myRightTextFrame.label = "BodyTextFrame";

    Link the two frames using the nextTextFrame property.

    myLeftTextFrame.nextTextFrame = myRightTextFrame;

    The substitution of Master Page points and adds text

    var myTextFrame = myDocument.masterSpreads.item (0).pages.item (1).textFrames.item (0) .override (myDocument.pag es.item (0));

    Add text by setting the contents of the insertion of a string.

    In JavaScript, "\r" is a return character.

    .silence myTextFrame.insertionPoints.item (0) = "dok\r";

    Adding and applying a paragraph Style

    var myParagraphStyle = myDocument.paragraphStyles.item ("title 1");

    try {}

    var myName = myParagraphStyle.name;

    }

    {} catch (MonErreur)

    //The style of paragraph don't have not exist, so create it.

    myParagraphStyle = myDocument.paragraphStyles.add ({name: 'Title 1'});

    }

    We need to create a color. Check if the color already exists.

    myColor var = myDocument.colors.item ("Green");

    try {}

    myName = myColor.name;

    }

    {} catch (MonErreur)

    //The color have not exist, so create it.

    myColor = myDocument.colors.add ({name: 'Green', model: ColorModel.process, colorValue:[100,0,100,0]});})

    }

    Now set the formatting of the paragraph style.

    myParagraphStyle.appliedFont = "Arial";

    myParagraphStyle.fontStyle = "Bold";

    myParagraphStyle.pointSize = 24;

    myParagraphStyle.spaceAfter = 24;

    myParagraphStyle.spaceBefore = 24;

    myParagraphStyle.fillColor = myDocument.colors.item ("Green");

    Apply the style to the paragraph.

    myDocument.pages.item (0).textFrames.item (0).paragraphs.item (0) .applyParagraphStyle (myParag raphStyle, true);

    You can also use:

    myDocument.pages.item (0).textFrames.item (0).paragraphs.item (0) .appliedParagraphStyle = //myParagraphStyle;

    Import a text file

    Display a standard dialog box open the file to select a text file.

    var monFichierTexte is File.openDialog ("choose a text file");.

    If you selected a text file, and if you didn't press Cancel,

    Place the file of text on the first insertion point after the title.

    If ((monFichierTexte! = "") & & (monFichierTexte!) (= null)) {}

    myTextFrame.insertionPoints.item(-1).place (myTextFile);

    }

    Place a graphic

    Display a standard dialog box open the file to select a graphic file.

    var myGraphicFile is File.openDialog ("choose a graphic file");.

    If you have selected a graphics file, and if you didn't press Cancel,

    Place the graphic file on the page.

    If ((myGraphicFile! = "") & & (myGraphicFile!) (= null)) {}

    //The frame containing the graphic is the parent of the graphic.

    myFrame var = myGraphic.parent;

    myFrame.applyObjectStyle (myObjectStyle, true);

    //Resize the frame to a specific size.

    myFrame.geometricBounds = [0,0,600,600];

    myFrame.fit (FitOptions.proportionally);

    / / Next, mount the frame to the resized image.

    myFrame.fit (FitOptions.frameToContent);

    //Move the graphic frame.

    var myPageWidth = myDocument.documentPreferences.pageWidth;

    var myTopMargin = myDocument.pages.item (0).marginPreferences.top;

    myFrame.move ([myPageWidth-myGraphicWidth, myTopMargin]);

    //Apply a wrap to the graphic frame.

    myFrame.textWrapPreferences.textWrapType = TextWrapTypes.boundingBoxTextWrap;

    myFrame.textWrapPreferences.textWrapOffset = [12, 24, 12, 24].

    }

    I hope someone can point me in the right direction.
    Thanks in advance.
    Ron

    Hey, Ron.

    The problem has nothing to do with your script. You can see if you attempt to place the file from indesign tagged text by hand.

    Your instinct for divide and conquer for debugging is a good - have a short text file to work with is very useful - of course this is also true for the script.

    During the validation of the scripts on the forum, please do not use the syntax insert > feature Java which lies behind the > arrow in the toolbar. Otherwise, cut and paste your script are difficult requiring manual corrections.

    Anyway, your problem is that each paragraph can have only a single paragraph style, and it's the last one that you define.

    So in your IDTT file, you set the heading 1 paragraph style, enter the content of the paragraph and then set the style of paragraph votes to zero.

    If you have included a line break before setting the style of paragraph votes to zero, you must set the None style for the following paragraph. But since you have not, it resets just the style to the current paragraph.

    In short: success back before .

  • Object styles cannot be deleted

    I use 8 Captivate and there is some object styles I want to remove the file that I can't. Does anyone know a workaround for this?

    3333.png

    These styles with brackets around them are default object styles.  You will not be able to remove them.  It seems that the project has been created using a German version of Captivate?  Is this likely?

  • Object style

    Stupid question: I created an object style that works well for more, but the object is still a chart and I want to be a text. I can't find the way to tell this object to be always the text exactly.

    What the object starts as depends on what tool you use to create the framework initially.

    If you use the Rectangle Frame (F) tool, you get a graphic image (the one with X showing).

    If you use the Rectangle (M), then you get an unassigned frame (one will detect an X and not a block of text).

    If you use the text tool (T), then you get an empty text block.

    Assuming you have set your default object style, the last two of the three tools above should create a framework usign the style of the requested object. For the graphic frame, it is defaulted to no style.

    This is the behavior I have with CS4.

  • Can I add indesign object styles to my creative cloud library?

    I have an object style that I use on the screenshots in my InDesign documents to give them a shadow and rounded striped black mount.

    I normally keep this style in my template, but once from time to time I like to use in another document which is not based on this model, so I usually have open, copy and paste the screenshot with the object in my new document style and then reapply the style of the object (which is imported) for the desired screenshot.

    I was wondering, with the integration of libraries CC in InDesign, I could save the style of the object directly to the library?
    I noticed that if I drag the screenshot in my CC library, he adds, in the form of a graph (bringing the object style), so basically, all I have to do is to capture the screenshot of my library, place it on the page, delete it and then use the style of the any object that is left behind on my screenshot desired.

    I was just wondering if directly add JUST THE STYLE of OBJECT (like you do with character or paragraph styles) is feasible now. It doesn't seem so, but maybe in future releases?

    Thank you

    Object styles are not moveable in CC libraries. Do not forget, that the function is cross-application (also works with Illustrator CC, CC of Photoshop and other applications). Libraries of InDesign objects are necessarily InDesign only.

    But you have found the best solution: when you drag an InDesign object, it copies an extract file (which contains all styles) and a PDF file in the CC library. An application like Illustrator or Photoshop can set the PDF file, the extract is used when copying to InDesign. It will add the Style to the object if you move it to another InDesign file.

  • New Document window are missing when you open the new document, along with other menu items: object style, the effect controls panel, etc.

    Miss me a lot of items, it seems that in my InDesign program.  How can this be?  I'm taking a class at the local college (inDesign CS6), and when you go through the book and steps, I keep noticing that I'm missing things.  For example: when I open a new Document - No new window does not appear on my screen, and there is no way to change the page size, etc. that appears. (2.) there is no object Styles Panel - window > Styles > Styles object - but the option object Styles does not exist.  3.) there are no available effects Panel, either. As I continue the race, things keep getting showing like that.  What is going on?  I do not have something wrong; My instructor verified that indeed these things seem to be missing.  I bought the Adobe Creative Suite 6 Design & Web Premium disc for Windows operating system.  Help, please!

    I had problems to install the drive, but thanks to someone in the forum, I have put everything on the desktop and installed in this way.  What why what is happening?

    In fact, you must return to the extensions Manager in all cases and make sure that all of the Adobe extensions are checked on.

  • Create "Object Style" by script

    Hello

    My 'Library.indl' file has the "Box1", "Box2". I need to create the object style (with dummy properties) based on library file names.

    If the library has BOX1, BOX2, I need to check my Indesign file has a Style of object with the same name (BOX1, BOX2).

    If an object style is not presented in this particular name (BOX1, BOX2) in Indesign, I create the dummy object style. (The "style object name must match with BOX1, BOX2).
