default window cmd.exe opening position is under the taskbar

On a PC with 64-bit Windows 7, when I use the Start button and type cmd into the search bar to open the Windows command window, the window opens in the right place on my desk. However, when I use a shortcut I created with a combination of keys to open this window, it opens up on the desktop so that the top of the window is almost completely under the taskbar, I placed on top of my desk instead of on the bottom as it is by default. It is annoying and makes it necessary for me to replace it every time it is opened using the menu system and the keyboard, because I can't reach under the taskbar with the mouse cursor to get to the title bar to reposition. Is - this avoidable? If so, how?  Thank you.

Look at the Layout tab, in the properties of the shortcut.

  • Taskbar at the top, high Windows to hide under the taskbar when opened

I had this problem with all versions of windows that I can remember since I've been putting the taskbar to the top of the screen.  Why Windows was never designed to properly use this configuration is beyond me.  In fact, it's a way far more productive things with the taskbar at the top.
Anyway, I fixed this 'error' every time, but I do not remember how it was done before.

Usually, to fix it I have temporarily move the taskbar, move the window in question down and bring back the taskbar. It is not very productive.  Most programs should remember their position when closed, but apparently are not remembered.  There should be a way to force windows to open on top of the taskbar.  I know I could auto hide the taskbar, but I don't want to do that.

    I use Windows 7.

    Thank you

BTW, I did a search but have not found anything like that, but maybe it is expressed in a way very strange lol.

There is a custom here solution: http://www.sevenforums.com/customization/44913-disabletaskbarontop-disable-taskbar-always-top-9.html but for all practicial reasons, this is a "by design" feature in Windows 7.

  • Error message "Windows can't open add printer." The local print spooler service is not running. Please restat the spooler or restart the machine. "while trying to add printers in Windows 7

Original title: my laptop has lost all printers and windows & no longer recognizes them. Help! I can't print anything

I use my laptop computer in a docking station.  I took it out to take for a trip and when I got home I plugged it back (as I always do).  Just before the trip, I have upgraded to Windows 7 and all my printers were working very well.  When I got home and pluged again, Windows does not recognize one of my printers.  When I try to add printers a say8ing error message "Windows can't open add printer."  The local print spooler service is not running.  Please restat the spooler or restart the machine. "I tried to restart and turn off the printer, etc.  Can someone help me?

    Hi RobynGP,

This may occur if the print spooler requires other services, and these services are not running. To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

    1. in Services, right-click on print spooler and then click Properties.

    2. click the Dependencies tab. The first box list all system services that must work for the print spooler start. These are dependencies.

3 make a note of each service, click OK, and restart each service on which the print spooler is dependent, if the service is not already started. If a service is not started, right-click, click Properties, and then make sure that the startup type is automatic.

  • Showing reconnect to the clone of windows 7, windows get shrunk at ~ 480 height less the taskbar height and position change window

Is there a way to prevent this dynamic adjustment of the windows height and position.

We use Realtime Soft UltraMon. It adds a button to title bar of litle to move windows between monitors and duplicates the taskbar and Start Menu to other monitors. Many other features.

The readjustment of the window was of ultramon. To fix it, we created a disconnect on and reconnect to the script.

Direct orders are not running the reason for this policy setting. While echo test > c:\temp\test.txt does not, cmd /c echo test > done c:\temp\test.txt. However, cmd /c dir > c:\temp\dir.txt does not work. And environment variables are unable to expand.

Another approach was to activate only signed powershell scripts and import my certificate to the computer Trusted Publishers store on the statue of gold of code signing. Disconnect then the commands to run and re - connect were:

    cmd /c powershell.exe - folder c:\temp\CloseUltraMon.ps1

    and

    cmd /c powershell.exe - folder c:\temp\OpenUltraMon.ps1

    CloseUltraMon.ps1:

    get-process"ultramon" - ea SilentlyContinue | Out-file "c:\temp\ultramon.status."

    & / Stop "c:\program files\ultramon\ultramon.exe".

  • A url in an e-mail message opens in the firefox window and then open a new (replacing the original window.

Using Safari, when I click on a url in an e-mail message, it opens in a new window. Using Firefox, clicking on a url in an email replces the firefox window opened by a new one. I want that they open both.

Is the email in Firefox and this page is accessing the linked page, or is the e-mail message in a separate program, and it launches the URL in the last active window of Firefox?

If the problem is an external link, you can check your settings for the following preference:

    (1) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press ENTER. Click on the button promising to be careful.

    (2) in the filter box, type or paste link.open and make a pause so that the list is filtered. Then look for that and if its value is not 2, change it to 2.

    Browser.Link.open_newwindow.override.external

-1 = open_newwindow applies to external links (default)

3 = open external links in a new tab

2 = open external links in a new window

1 = open external links in the active tab

Edit: Probably a good idea to check this one, too, and set it to 2 or 3, as you prefer.

    Browser.Link.open_newwindow

3 = divert new window into a new tab (by default) (checked *)

2 = allow the link to open a new window (uncontrolled *)

1 = new power window in the same tab

    * First check box in the Options > tabs (on Mac, preferences > tabs)

How can I replace a block if no information bar?

When I click on links HTTP in a Windows Mail message opens a Word document. Windows Mail help seems to indicate that the link is blocked because it may be phishing and that the solution is to click on the link and type unlock in the InfoBar. I don't see an information bar. It started recently, so I think that I have installed a phishing filter updated. Can I remove the offending filter or?

IE9 is blocking the information bar if you want to see it, and then open the message in a separate window and it will appear again or uninstall IE9.  As for opening Word instead of IE, go to the control panel. Default programs | Associate a file type or Protocol with a program, press page down to the HTTP and HTTPS protocols, and set IE as default.

  • How can I make Windows 7 Explorer open my folder on the desktop instead of libraries?

I can find solutions that have me enter the GUID (Globally Unique Identifiers) for My Documents/computer etc, but I want Windows Explorer to start on my office if possible.  Can someone explain how to do this?

    Three ways:

    1

1.1. open Windows Explorer, select theyourusername file C:\Users\

1.2 your desktop folder will appear in the right pane.

1.3 with the right button on the desktop folder and select Create shortcut.

1.4 you can now use this shortcut to open Windows Explorer on the desktop.

    - - - - - -

    2

2.1 while on your desktop, right-click, select new, select shortcut.

2.2 in the dialog box that appears, find the location with C:\Users\yourusername\Desktop tab, and then click Next

2.3 and enter any convenient name for the shortcut.

    - - - - -

3 [is perhaps the most convenient because it can be pinned to the start menu or the taskbar]

3.1 while on your desktop, right-click, select new, select shortcut.

3.2 in the dialog box that appears, find the location with C:\Windows\explorer.exe and then a space & then C:\Users\yourusername\Desktop tab, and then click Next

3.3 then enter any convenient name for the shortcut.

This type of shortcut can be pinned to the taskbar or the Start Menu.

I am running Vista 32 bit with all updates and IE8 with all the updates.

When I click on a link on a web page with IE8, the window that opens is tiny. I then have to click maximize on this small window to make it larger.

How to make a window from a link of IE8 it is enlarged?

    Hi Arkayem,

    Please follow the steps below:

    1. open Internet Explorer 8, in your FIRST window and click a link that opens in a new window of a SECOND.

    2. close the FIRST window, leaving your window open.

    3. slide the SECOND window to what size you want. The key word there is DRAG.

    4. you can drag windows by placing the mouse cursor on the edges of the window, click button straight on and then dragging.

    5. now close the SECOND window.

6 reopen Internet Explorer 8 from a shortcut on your desktop or in the quick launch of the taskbar section and check by opening other links as well.
