Defective Pavillion dv2000

HP has sold thousands of faulty laptops and instead of doing the right thing and fixing the defective machines through a callback, HP concocted a warranty service enhancement that limits their liability to repair the defective product.  Good for business but bad for customers... maybe even unethical?

I had difficulties with my Pavilion dv2000 on the first day, but I discovered why last month.  I always thought the problem was that the operating system has been a big eater of memory and caused my machine to run hot resulting in symptoms documented on your website:

http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c01087277#

When I finally decided to upgrade the operating system to try to solve the overheating problem, I discovered by searching for a non-existent video driver that my laptop contains a defective NVIDIA chip. I called thinking surely they will correct the problem that is caused by defective parts, but NO!  Because my computer was beyond the 24-month warranty extension period, I just have to accept the fact that the life expectancy of my laptop is 30 months.

This is quite unacceptable.  My last HP laptop lasted 5 years.

HP customer service was HORRIBLE! They gave me the runaround, as soon as they responded.  They said there was nothing they could do and that the symptoms that I had not yet finished describing them were not the good covered by the 'warranty service improvement' told me that I could talk to the Manager, but he couldn't do anything for me. (Why bother? Right?)

Finally, I wrote some e-mails heated the Board of HP, which was planned and directed to a service called me back, I was put on hold and finally had the nerve to try to sell me a repair reduced package. SERIOUSLY? YOU WANT ME DO PAY $500 OR MORE TO FIX THE PROBLEM THAT YOU CREATED? Amazing!

It's my personal machine, but my experience as an individual customer influences a lot on my business decisions.  I am a fantastic customer if your service and products are good, but when you sell defective products to me and then give me the runaround, you lose.  A company took I sucked is worth bothering with, and it cost them more than 1 million dollars in the company because I had the power to cancel the contract and hire another seller who has not taken our business for granted.  I am very good at getting rid of bad contracts and replacing them with superior ones.

I'm a loyal customer of HP for years, but that ends now!  I have a laptop that died after 2 1/2 years and all I get are poor excuses when I ask HP to fix a simple piece of hardware that probably costs a male 35.

I will do all in my 20 years in the business class to recommend against buying products and services, HP stop using HP products and will replace the product with the best and most reliable.

In addition, if you decide to do the right thing and replace the defective that you sold me, it's a notebook Pavilion dv2000. Send me a replacement machine, and I will gladly ship the defective machine to you.

  • Dv2000 CTO and Windows 7 update

    Hello

    I have a HP Pavillion dv2000 CTO, bought Dec2006, with 1.8 Ghz AMD Turion 64 X 2, 2 GB of RAM.

    Currently WinXP.

MS Windows7 compatibility program seems to indicate that it must be extensible, except

caution was the 800 Mhz processor (run could slow down), quick launch button is not compatible.

It's funny how it is said that 800 Mhz when it's a 1.8Ghz AMD.

Has anyone else been able to upgrade with Windows 7 32 bit?

    If it works?

    Thank you.

    Mark

    Success!

I happy to announce that the upgrade via clean install went OK.

I upgraded the hard drive from 80G to 160G, as part of this update and also used Acronis backup

    software for the transition.

It seems that the quick launch keys are working properly.

Installs and patches of Windows7 went well.

    Display, wireless, Ethernet, works fine.

Start to close, now work place.

The battery charge and supervision seem to work correctly.  Battery drain appears

normal, based on a single day of observation.

I think the key to this successful installation used advice from several people,

  • Let go of the mouse button? (Left softkey) Laptop HP Pavilion dv2000

Hello world. I have a small problem here.

    I have a HP Pavillion dv2000 laptop.

(Here's a photo of him) Just today, I noticed that my left mouse key was loose. It's sometimes a little as the 'Crack' of noise when I push a certain way. It still works and everything, but it's kind of spell. just the front, the rear part is correct. It's not that much of a big deal, but it's getting kind of annoying. (I don't want it to become completely loose and stop working in the future)

I was wondering if there was a way to fix it? I did some research and discovered that replace the top cover will help? I don't think I'll be able to do it myself, so I'm wondering if it will be a good idea to take it to a repair shop? or like the Geek Squad? Only thing that worries me, it's price and know if it will still be possible. If someone saw, or something similar has happened, if you could propose it please, will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you all!

You don't need to replace the hood - just the trackpad Assembly. I have a dv2 so (a dv2915nr) and the part number for my trackpad is 451341-001http://h20141.www2.HP.com/hpparts/Search_Results.aspx?mscssid=EB24CF0D562D4D34826CED55FF5A6B46&SearchIn=product

The part should be the same for all the dv2s, but you can find parts specific to your model here: http://h20141.www2.hp.com/hpparts/default.aspx?mscssid=EB24CF0D562D4D34826CED55FF5A6B46

Of course, you place your order via the HP Web site can be expensive ($ 50 for a trackpad!) so I'd recommend looking for the part through ebay or something.

As for actually replace yourself - it's a bit complicated and I would recommend you just go to a repair shop and let them do, but if you really want to do it yourself by a nice little guide on how to disassemble your computer:

    http://Forum.NotebookReview.com/HP-Pavilion-notebooks/228268-how-clean-heatsink-fan-Assembly-dv2xxx.html

It is intended for cleaning of the whole fan and heatsink of heat on your motherboard, but just follow steps 1-3 to get your hood.

  • Downgraded to XP: now cannot read DVDs (not installed dvd decoder) for dv2000 CTO

I just installed a new hard drive and Windows XP Professional 64-bit. My computer is a laptop Pavillion dv2000 CTO. Product # is RU769UA. After installing the new OS (it was originally installed with vista home), I found that my sound does not work. I tried to install all or most of the drivers for my model, some who have been for vista has failed. AFAIK, the drivers that worked was installing (sound)... but I'm not entirely sure. I am empty and could really use some help with this. It's my last problem with this computer. >.

Edit: And I just realized that I can't play DVDs without having this error message - "Windows media player cannot play this DVD because no compatible DVD decoder is not installed on your computer.

Edit2: I have finally the wireless connection works! Now, I just need to understand the sound. It does not record the sound devices!

    Thanks its working now!

But I still have problems with DVD playback... I am out of the dvd decoder and can not find the download for just a dvd decoder. I downloaded a few media players but all still not allow me to read the actual DVD disc. I've already spent too much money on this computer and I really can't afford to buy any additional software. Is it possible for me to find the decoder correct drivers/dvd for free?

  • Media Player11 will not play video (DVD disc). The sound is fine and a DVD decoder was installed.

Where to start... After you download the necessary drivers and also I was able to get my sound work. Then, I bought and downloaded the dvd decoder, InterVideo DVD XPack. When I put a DVD in the drive, Media Player appears and I press play and I hear the sound but I do not see any video!

I tried to download and use other video players, but none have worked so far. Everyone give me reasons why they can not read/play the disc or separate errors. Some have suggested that I change my screen resolution or color quality. I have and nothing makes a difference. Only, I can choose between 800 x 600 or 1024 x 768 (16-bit or 32-bit).

    Product # RUA769UA

    Pavillion dv2000 CTO notebook

    OS: XP Home SP2 64-bit

    Any help would be appreciated!

The fixed! I downloaded the graphics driver and everything works well so far.

  • A CURSOR JUMP LETTER!

When you search the database, I found that my problem has been around for the past 6 years!, but none of the answers seem to solve the problem.
The problem is only on my laptop, and when I try to send an email (Hotmail) or type anything the cursor moves on the page, usually dating back to a letter already typed, either at the front of the sentence you just typed. I touch type and faster I type, more the cursor jumps all over the page. After I typed and look at the text, it has no meaning at all, and I have to start all over again. If I type really slowly, it may or may not happen. It's happening now and get really frustrating! It took a while to type CRAZY. Help!
I have not downloaded anything new lately and the problem appeared about 8 months ago.
    Any suggestions please?

    Hi there Cardmaker,

Thanks for the comments and sorry, I've been so long in a response. I was going on the Microsoft answers forum and today only looked at my 'son' and found your answer, sorry for the delay!

I have HP Pavillion dv2000 laptop without mouse attachment or software for a mouse.

As you, I typed for a few years and I believe that hovering too close to the key was my mistake. I lounge in front of the TV and my wrists are released rather than stand in the position ' ", LOL! So, I started to sit down and lift my writsts, who works for me! and like you I can now deal with it in a calm way, but before that he drove me nuts!

Thanks for the help, it has really helped, as I think to buy a mouse then now, will get a Logitech and use. I also have a connection high speed. I found that it happens to a lot of people too. I'm still waiting for the microsoft forum find a solution... Well!

    Thanks again.

  • Pavillion 15n-236tu: SMART Check FAILED-hp Pavilion Notebook

    I have a pavillion model 236tu-15n

    Hello

ID information of failure "GOUSA73-0007N9-MFPV6J-60FJ03" which indicates that the hard drive has failed and that needs to be replaced to solve the problem

This problem could be due to an Application or a driver conflict, virus issues, corruptions of files due to incompatible applications, incorrect judgments, update failures due to conflicts, mounted sudden power so portable, sudden falls etc...

HP will offer a replacement HDD if the laptop warranty is Active, otherwise you can buy a SATA hard drive in a nearby retail store

Please make sure that you get at least equal as long as the original one in order to use recovery disks. If you need you can buy a bigger, but not smaller hard drive capacity. For example, if you have a 500 GB hard drive you can improve it to 750 GB hard drive, but not 320 GB hard drive

Please try the troubleshooting below indicated once the steps:

Step 01. Remove the battery and unplug the power adapter AC.

Step 02. Press and hold the power button for more than 30 seconds

Step 03. Plug the AC power adapter / (leave the battery for now)

Step 04. Press the power button and check if the unit is operating normally

If the steps listed above is not enough, then you can try reinstalling the hard disk on your laptop

If the problem persists again please Contact HP if your HP laptop is under warranty, HP could replace the hard drive and provide recovery media to restore the operating system to factory after the replacement (if you have not yet created recovery disks/USB support)

Note: Back up any personal data on an external drive if possible. Otherwise, you can connect the HDD defective via SATA USB adapter with another PC or a PC even after replacing the HARD drive & put in place of the operating system and try to copy / retrieve files. • That means the apparent defects?

My iphone 6s knows chipping aluminium and he said be a disfigurement. So I would like to know what is really considered as aesthetic damage?

The apparent defects are damage that does not affect the functionality of a device, although the definition of Apple this can differ from the user. Because it does not affect the functionality of a measuring device, cosmetic damage not covered by the warranty. In the case of chipping aluminium, it does not the less functional phone, it seems less desirable.

  • My EarPods are defective and interrupt my phone

II had my EarPods less than a year and they have been treat with care, have not been dropped or wet etc.. They observed a break and play music randomly, Siri activation and fast forward music and skip songs etc. It is annoying, I'm a student and can't afford to pay £20 + for more earpods when an apple product should last more than 8 months. Y at - it everywhere they can contact to receive a free replacement?

    Hello

EarPods are covered by a one year limited Apple against material and manufacturing defects warranty.

Contact Apple support (mail service may be available) or make a booking Genius Bar to arrange for them to be verified by Apple and, if it is eligible, repaired or replaced under warranty:

I'm afraid that no one here can tell you what that decide to Apple (he is a user-based community).

  • Is my rMBP defective 2015 or does have a glitch or bug?

Hi all! Can anyone tell me if these symptoms are acceptable? 2 days ago, I bought a new MacBook Pro retina 2015 (entry level) model 15 ". It's actually a replacement/upgrade of a rMBP defective 13 "which was a lemon. I'll try my best to explain this. What happens is when I'm playing video on QuickTime my control functions (play, pause, fast forward, rewind, stop, and esc. desire does not.) This happens regularly and doesn't happen that after I pinch to minimize or maximize and only after I have the same pinch action twice. I know it sounds silly, but it's true. I mean, it's controls stops working after that I have pinch to optimize two times in a row and when I pinch to reduce at least twice in a row. The only way for the controls start the new operation is to pinch the reverse of what the screen. So, if its in full screen I'm having to pinch two times on the screen to minimize and vice versa and then it will work. Can someone please explain this? Someone of you have heard of, or been there before? Seriously, I think using the return policy of 14 days of Apple and swapping out for a different MBP. Thanks in advance for any tips and advice! See you soon,.

    Greg

Make an appointment with the Apple Genius Bar for the service. If you need a Apple Store - find a store - Apple. The machine is in warranty and within 14 days from the date of purchase grace period.

-If Yes, when is this corrected?

PS - I'll send you a print/copy of my computer screen to your Web page of "Feedback" feature, but I could not submit it here. You can add this feature in the feature?

I have just returned to the scene to capture a screenshot of the Message Security and it is no longer present. I guess that Mozilla or greener pastures solved the problem.

  • I Pod Nano defective

I have an I Pod Nano 7th generation is probably 8 or 9 years old.  It's worked perfectly without any problems.  I used it yesterday and put it on the charger, last night.  I got it this morning and it wouldn't turn on so I plugged it to my computer and I get a message that the USB device I plugged defective and so my computer does not recognize it.  Is it toast or is it some sort of reboot that I can do?  The computer that is running Windows 10.  Did not have download problems or the synchronization of songs with Windows 10.

Do not take account of the question, I was able to hold down the sleep/wake button and the power button and managed to do start.  To turn on and off several times so I think I'm fine.
