Update Vista 64 Bit SP 2 remove icons from the taskbar for the power and sound.
When I installed the update to Vista SP2, my power and Volume icons disappeared from the taskbar. When I went to set the display for the Menu Taskbar properties, the option to do so is grayed out. Go to the control panel to change the power options, it's annoying, but I can live with that because I do not often change. But having to go through the control panel to adjust the volume is a container of the slow cooker. How to view again?
Hi old giza,.
Thank you for using answers Forum.
I suggest you to re - install the driver for your sound card, this should restore function.
You can also consult the Web site of the manufacturer for an updated Vista driver.

How can I permanently delete an icon from the notification area?
Whenever I start an icon composed of the white black '9' in a field number appears in the Notification area of my desktop tool bar.
Whenever I start, I have 'customize' on the toolbar and "hide" icon. It always comes back.
Apparently, it has no function. Make a right click on it, in the hope of finding an option 'discard', produces no response.
How can I delete the icon?
My OS is Windows Vista 64 bit Home Premium edition.

After the 4.0.1 update, Windows now creates a new icon in the taskbar instead of activate one who is already pinned there. This does not happen on other computers I've used.
Hi, a bit of googling solved the problem, this article eplains,

Microsoft Security Essentials icon, absent from the taskbar after restarting Windows XP
original title: lack of Windows XP icons after restartAfter that I restarted my antivirus, Microsoft Security Essentials icon is missing from the taskbar. It also happened when I have ESET NOD32 installed. When I disable the SSDP Discovery Service, in the section of the Admin, it will appear. But when I go back and set it to automatic, it will still be absent.
For all that is you probably not need to have running SSDP Discovery Service, for security reasons almost always disable this service on any system that I put in place.

Hello!
I am running windows xp sp3, the volume icon disappears from the taskbar on each reboot or shutdown/startup.kindly, help with any permanent solution known.i should go to the control panel and to recover it again whenever I turn my on.kindly advice, someone machine me a solution permanently this problem.i want to stay always on the taskbar the volume icon.
the honest answer is expected... Thank you!Hello
Try this:
Control Panel - device - sounds Manager - note manufacturer device name and info on the graduating model.
Double click and get the date and version of the driver (if 06 are dates, you use the default windows driver). Now
Click the DRIVER UPDATE (this can not find anything because MS is far behind the certification of drivers). Now LAW
CLICK above and UNINSTALL - REBOOT - it will refresh the driver stack. Now, go to the manufacturer of the system and recover the last pilot audio/Hi-Fi as a fall.
Download it - SAVE - go to where you put it - RIGHT CLICK top - RUN AS ADMIN - REBOOT
Now do the same for the manufacturer of the device (the one that made the device - if you were using the default windows
you might need to look in the Device Manager - his new driver).Often, you will need to run the sound card drivers several times to get the latest version installed and will appear in
Manager - Sound. This is because they make back the drivers one at a time and then finally install the
most recent. Look in the Device Manager to be sure that you have installed the version of the driver is the one showing, if not
run the driver again (reset each time) until the shows a correct.Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.
