  You highlight the files to delete (Ctrl-click to select) and simply press the delete key. You get a dialog box with a check box to specify whether you want also deleted from the disk.

  Which version of reader you actually have installed ?  10.1.14 X drive is the latest version for Vista.

  Can you open Reader by itself?  If so, try to disable the Protected Mode [Edit |] Preferences | (Improved) security].

  I came here with this question a year or two ago, but it seems to be unknown. However, it keeps happening to me.

  I LR4, and the problem is that sometimes when launching it, a box if poster letting me know there is an update available, and I want to download it. Before that I can even answer, that past to every_single_time when this box appears that my current LR catalog is wound up, only showing pictures of the last import. Then, when I go to 'file', 'open recent' in an attempt to revive the previous, all catalog what existed in the past were these images since the last import. This time however - it is not even that. Also in occurrences, past I was able to revive at least my most recent backup catalog. However, this time, when I go to "open the catalog" and try to do it, I get an error message that says "Lightroom does not start with this catalogue. It is on a network volume or a volume on which LR cannot save the changes.

  It seems that you save your backups LR in subfolders nested under backup files earlier. What caused the "file path" to become very long:

  C:\Users\Mary\Pictures\Lightroom\2013-09-03 0637\Backups\2014-07-08 0805\Backups\2014-09-01 2214\Backups\2014-11-26 2300\Backups\2015-03-14 1516\Lightroom Catalog.lrcat 4

  It is in the Windows file and the limits of folders, but LR may have additional restrictions regarding the access path of the LR catalog. When you install a LR update appears the current LR catalog file can not be found because of the long drive. Ditto when you try to use a backup of the catalog file.

  

  I suspect you may have a similar problem with your current work LR catalog. The file catalog LR and previews must be stored directly in the Lightroom subfolder and not in subfolders beneath it.

  Here is the location:

  \Pictures\Lightroom\ name of C:\Users\[user]

  Here is what should be in the Lightroom more top folder with LR is closed:

  4 of Lightroom Catalog.lrcat file

  Previews.lrdata folder for Lightroom 4 catalog

  Please close LR and move your file Lightroom Catalog.lrcat 4 more and Lightroom 4 catalog Previews.lrdata folder at the above address and never move or rename in the future. Then open LR, and go to the menu file > catalog and select the 4 Lightroom Catalog.lrcat file to the location above.

  As suggested by Jim LR catalog backups must be stored on another drive identical to your image file backup copies. A software backup application should be used to keep the current backup with the new files, modified files and deleted files. During a new LR Catalog backup cannot create a subfolder. Use the same destination folder (Lighroom backups) on the external hard drive and LR will create its own subfolder with the Lightroom Catalog.lrcat 4 file.

  You keep a copy of your old folder from catalog PSE10 somewhere?   I never used Creative Cloud storage and probably never will be. I have no files in the folder, and it is therefore irrelevant.

  I deleted the favorite and the folder, but the next day, when I turned on my laptop, both were appeared again.

  Same thing again today.

  Is there a way to permanently delete the folder, or at least stop the favorite shortcut to reappear?

  The simple solution was presented above by Oskari Oksanen, just change the location of the file of CC users files / your name to another folder.

  It is not the perfect solution, but it's fast and easy.

  My drive C crashed recently so I replaced it with a new drive and I'm trying to reinstall all my software. My photos were all on my drive D (which is not affected). I managed to get my old C drive, works again and I installed it as a slave (now K) drive.

  I then clicked file > catalog > location custom and traveled to the new location for my catalog. However, when I click on open, it waits a few seconds then the dialog box disappears and returns to the main photowell (empty): "no items match this combination of filters...» "(The filters are all checked..)

  As any of my photos have moved and I still have the orginal catalog file, I was hoping that I could just point the PE9 instal new to the catalog and everything would look as if nothing had happened... Is there something obvious I'm doing wrong? I've been watching the forum posts all day and not found anything quite like my situation or solutions that help.

  Search your entire computer *.pse9db and point the largest room Organizer.

  Unless you're 'home sharing', which he does not seem like you are, two libraries (macbook and iMac) are distinct, so a change does not affect the other.  Best way to test would be to remove a few songs you can download easily and see if it changes.  But I don't think it will be a problem.

  What password? You can change a password for the account, but if you do not know the FileVault password, you are in a bind. You need to call Apple directly if you their sent an emergency password when configuring the FV.

  Try to provide the exact text of the message you see. "size will end or something" identifies not enough information for anyone to be able to solve the problems.
