deleted files are hidden

Hello

It is a strange thing, I deleted several mp3 files (at least 70 titles) of my Sansa Clip (I used my Mac), but the files are still somewhere on the player. I tried a search with all the tools I could find (including some software to find names of files starting with a dot, they are deleted), I tried my Windows PC (Win7)... nothing has worked. I always get the information, that there is some hidden files on the disk, but not where they are and how I could find them.

What can I do?

Thank you very much

Edda

Thank you very much for your answer, I handed my Sansa on and empty my trash, but nothing has changed. I might have to try reformatting...?

Someone else posted this same scenario a few days ago. If you empty your trash before you pull the plug, I think that you miss your chance and cannot re - connect to. So yes, re-formatting the drive, it's what I would try. You can do this from the player settings > settings menu system, without having to connect to your Mac to do.

Thank you very much; my mac does not recognize the drive when the MSC mode. Is this a problem?

Yep, of course. MSC mode is mode only you can use it with a Mac, because PSG is a Windows only and for synchronization via Windows Media Player mode.

Fitness, as suggested above will be hopefully solve this problem as well. Don't forget to check out your USB setting after formatting, though, as he sometimes returns the default player, Auto Vice affecting. Manually select the MSC before trying to connect to your Mac.

It sounds as if there is an incorrect boot entry in the Windows registry.

Sometimes the problem is a simple "characters in a path name where it should be two.  See http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=170086

It can also be caused (especially on Dell computers) by a boot for his SB Audigy 2 card entry, although it is a very old problem that I expected to have been fixed now.  Remove the space before the value /L:ENG.  Or you can remove all of the SB Audigy 2 key - but it will be re-created the next time that you run the SB Audigy 2 application.

The places in the registry to check are

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run

If you do not want to messing around in the Windows registry (as well be), follow these steps:

    • Click on start and then run.  In the box 'Opens', type msinfo32, and then click OK.
    • In the system information window, click on the + next to "Software Environment".
    • Then click on "startup programs".
    • Click on edit, then click on "select all."
    • Click on edit, then click on "copy".
    • Paste the content in your response here and I'll see if I can spot the problem

  • Deleted files are located in the search

I deleted files of documents to a certain location on my computer. Well, after a few days, I find the file deleted by name, and I have seen a miracle, the files are exist in my pc but I can't open those. who are only image. How can I delete a file or folder without images or shortcuts?

This is probably because deleted files are still in the search Index - this is how it works under Vista.  Try to rebuild the search Index: http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/2103/vista_rebuilding_the_search_index/.  Wait until she finishes (it may take a while) and then try the search for files deleted - they will show no doubt is no longer.

    I hope this helps.

    Hello

You did it changes on the computer before the problem started?

By default, the folders in the library (images, music, documents and videos) are displayed and you cannot hide.

Follow these steps and check if it solves the problem:

Step 1: Resetting folder view settings.
    a. click on tools in the menu bar of Windows Explorer window and choose Folder Options.
    b. in the Folder Options window, select the view tab and click on the button Reset records.
    c. you will be asked to confirm if we reset all folders of this type to the default view configuration, click Yes.

Step 2: download and run the tool fixit from the link below:
Diagnose and repair Windows files and folders problems automatically

Step 3: perform a system restore to restore the computer to an earlier point in time before the problem started.

  • Deleted files are still too much space on my hard drive, how to make their deleted permanently?

I deleted a large file containing about 60 gigs of my hard drive by sending to the trash and empty the collector, because the car was full.  All files were gone, my computer does not recognize free space and won't let me not defragment the hard drive or save any new data on the hard drive, saying that he is too full.  What should I do?

Either you have an application that saves you from yourself (Norton used to have what we call the "Norton Protected Recycle Bin" which has given a second chance to restore files) or if you have something else take place.

Did you restart after having emptied the Recycle Bin?

Have you run Disk Cleanup (start > run > cleanmgr > OK)

Assuming that the answers to the two questions above is Yes and you are still weak on the disk, download and run JDiskReport, space that will graphically show you what files are taking up space on your hard drive.  For more advice, post back with the identification of the culprits.

If you do not have enough space to install JDiskReport (about 2 MB), here are some ways to save space:

    • Turn off System Restore (right-click on desktop > properties > system restore > check the 'Disable the the system restore on all drives' > OK)
    • Disable Hibernation (Control Panel > Power Options > Hibernate > uncheck > OK)
    • Disable the Indexing Service (instructions here)

When you turn the system restore, make sure that only your system (usually C:\) partition is monitored and then click the settings button in the System Restore tab and adjust the amount of space used by restoring the system to 1 GB.

  • Recycle bin is not store deleted files. Deleted files are just disappearing.

I want to restore a deleted file, but when I went in the bin the bin was empty.  I have deleted many files and none of them are in the sandbox.  I checked the 'properties' and the trash is configured to accept files deleted with a specified maximum size and the "see the confirmation dialog" checked.

What happens here? I use Windows 7 pro.

I've never had a problem like this with Windows XP.

    ID245,

What types of files you delete? Some destruction of bypass the trash as files stored on removable disks, network drives, deleted from the command prompt, files or compressed (zipped files).

  • Bridge says files are hidden?

I try to use the bridge to navigate through a bunch of files in a folder. They are a mixture of files jpg, eps, pdf and tiff. Many are the same files in several formats. None of the files are marked as hidden objects and I can not find something strange when I "get info" on any of them. Bridge said, however, that the folder that contains the items was 314 hidden items and displays only 36 of them. Clues?

  • How can I make sure deleted files are permantly removed from my system and non-recoverable?

I have files that I deleted, then emptied my Recycle Bin, but I understand that these are still recoverable. They have not been sent, published or shared. How can I make sure that they are permantently deleted and not accessible from my computer. I have Windows 7 on a HP DM4 if that helps. I need simple answers because I'm a girl who is not all that computer savy. I appreciate the answers, thank you.

It all depends on how hard you want the person you are looking for the file to work.  What you did until the preserved most of other casual users to recover files.

If you take the hard drive to a data recovery company, they would probably still recover (unsecured) files.  You can use programs that write too much data time and time again - but even in this case, it might be salvageable.
Government and businesses know that the only way to ensure that the files have disappeared is to destroy the drive - by crushing or it chop into pieces with a machine to grind.
  • deleted files are not going in the trash

When I delete a file, it is removed immediately after a warning message. Deleting the file just put it in the trash. I reinstalled the OS X El Capitan, but which is not fixed. I cannot find any setting that would cause this to happen. Any ideas?

    Hi Holly:

Try to open finder > finder Preferences > Advanced Tag and make sure "Show warning before emptying the trash" is checked.
