Deleting a dimension

Unwittingly, I added a dimension to my database. How can I remove it?

There is no route taken in charge to remove a dimension, the safest way is to return to the backup, start hacking tables as your own risk.

    Hello

Once you have created a planning application so you can't delete the dimension. It is possible, but not advisable to delete the dimension using SQL on the planning tables, if it is no longer aimed at a typical scheduling application I don't know how this would work using this method against an application of EPMA.

  • Remove Dimension is grayed out when you try to delete a dimension of EPMA (Shared Library) - 11.1.2.3.500

    Hello

We use the 11.1.2.3.500 EMP and we created our sides using shared library (EPMA) and all our dimensions are shared across the different planning Application.  Now we want to remove any of the dimension of Shared Library and right-click on the dimension in the shared library, the delete option is greyed out.

Can someone let me know how I can remove the size of the shared library.

How can we delete the dimensions in a planing application, I know we have need to remove them from the repository but hwo do we do that actually, the repository is oracle?

I'm not a fan of going and deleting dimensions unless you fully understand the implications.
Others just seem like taking the risk and give the SQL for example remove the dimension of the planning application
If it's a prototype, then I can understand that you may need to do, an application of production so good luck and the risk is with you.

  • Deletion of a particular dimension in a planning application

    Hi all

Can you get it someone pls. Let me know, how can we remove a dimension from a planning application. Thanks in advance

    Kind regards

    Hello

Please follow the steps below to delete a dimension of planning an application. I hope it helps

MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE A BACKUP OF YOUR APPLICATIONBEFORE TO TRY THIS PROCEDURE.
You need to remove all the children first, then the dimension.
If you have the dimension of forms, you may need to also (after step 5) go in the hsp_formobj_def_mbr table and remove the allreferences of this ID of the object. Then delete the low id in the thehsp_form_layout table. Recycle planning services.
    Procedure:
If you create a dimension in planning and you want to delete, here's how you can manually remove SQL. We recommend that only someone familiar with relational databases attemptthis.
The following assumptions are made on thedimension:
    * No form were all references to thedimension.
    * Any attribute dimensions have beenremoved of the dimension.
    * All members have been removed from the thedimension.
    * All access security has been removed fromdimension.
    * Any aliases associated with the dimension has been deleted.
In this example, we created a dimension called DummyDimension.
    1. Open Enterprise Manager for SQL server
    2. open the database with your planning application
    3. open the HSP_OBJECT table
    4. you need to find the line that carries the name of dimension, that you want to remove
    5. take note of the OBJECT_ID
    6. open the HSP_MEMBER table
7 find and remove all lines that have an equal MEMBER_ID to the OBJECT_ID of step 5
    8. close the Table HSP_MEMBER
    9. open the HSP_MRU_MEMBERS table
    10. find and delete all the lines that have an equal DIM_ID to the OBJECT_ID of step 5
    11 close the HSP_MRU_MEMBERS table
    12. open the HSP_DIMENSION table
    13. find and remove all lines that have an equal DIM_ID to the OBJECT_ID of step 5.
    14. close the HSP_DIMENSION table
    15. also delete it is the reference to the HSP_UNIQUE_NAMES table.
16 remove the line in the HSP_OBJECT table that you found in step 4.
    17 close the HSP_OBJECT table.
18 open ASA for the application and remove the size of the necessary Essbase outline.
    19. restart the application of Planning Server.
Now when you open the application in the planning dimension is removed.
The next step is to perform a refresh to do of course planning and Essbase are synchronized.

  • deleting a dminesion in the rules file.

    Hello

We have an obligation to delete the dimensions before bulding metadata (for a cube of BSo), so can someone help me how to remove the rules hroguh dimensiont file.

    Thanks in advacne

You cannot delete a dimension via a rules file.  Do you mean you want to delete all members before you rebuild the same dimension or actually delete the dimension altogether?

The only way to remove a side is to have a 'model' or 'stub' expose without the dimension, and then copy it to your real contour (probably after erasure of all data).  If what you really want is to rebuild the dimension that contains only members in your source, then the build dimension 'Remove' unspecified setting can be used.

Hi, in fact you can not.
Some methods of doing what you want here:

First is a standard, and the second is not supported by Oracle.

How can I remove this because the dimension to remove option is disabled.

    Hello

By default, we cannot delete the dimension once it has been created. There is a work around for this issue, using sql tables, we can delete the dimension, but you must very careful before making this attempt. Pls take backups past and other things before you continue.

If please try to query the HSP_Dimension table and find the name of the specified dimension and the id and try to remove the same using the Dimension ID and the correct name.

  • Very Urgent - that everything should be deleted from the database of planning

    Hello

Can someone please guide me if I want to delete a dimension of a deployed application, then what are things where I need to remove this dimension, because after you delete it epma and essabse it is always on display error so could be dimension is always there in the planning of database. What table I have to see and remove .this dimension data is generic and I use 11.1.2.1

    Thank you

And remember if you're going to mess with the planning of the relational tables in the applications, it only is not supported so if you want to take the risk that some codes SQL which is posted on a forum that own you.

  • Delete the planning Member error

I am trying to delete the dimension of planning, but get the error message "the deletion of the 'Account' failed because the Member is used in a data form or the validation of data associated with a data form.

Is it possible to delete them without touching the data forms? How can I remove parent members?
    Please guide me

    Thank you

If none of the members are referenced on objects such as front end, planning forms, you cannot remove those without removing the object reference. In this case, you go to the Member and click on use of see the dimension property page. This will show you list of web forms, this member is used in. Then, you will need to go to the online form and to remove the Member from the list of the members of the form. However, you still need to know if the Member is used in Calc/business rules and make the necessary adjustments.

If you try to delete the parent location = dimension, it is not possible in planning. When I say is not possible, it is not possible to interface but an expert user can play with tables to understand this. In this case too, a lot of changes are required to function objects such as forms and Calc. If you just want to remove the account dimension members, but in fact keep the dimension, you can simply remove children under the node in the foreground.

However, because the account is one of the default dimensions created by planning, I actually never tried to remove/delete the dimension. I don't know if its even possible to remove its default dimensions of planning creates.

  • Removal of size caused the member formulas not do not work

I deleted a dimension that was no longer necessary. I deleted in the tables using the below. After that I used edited lcm xml files to import Web Forms. However when I shoot webforms I don't see my some of my changing member formulas. I thought webforms were the question so I pulled upward in smartview and nothing is calculated. Please advice.

    Thank you.

In the planning web, first remove all members of the dimension that you want to delete (if there is)

If the dimension is secure, uncheck this option in the properties of dimension

Refresh the application of planning to Essbase

    Stop the planning service

Change the relational database to the relevant planning application

Find the dimension to remove from the table HSP_OBJECT by performing a SQL query:

    SELECT * FROM HSP_OBJECT WHERE (OBJECT_NAME = "NameOfTheDimension");

Note the OBJECT_ID of the dimension number. Do not delete the record in the HSP_OBJECT table at the moment.

Delete the record with OBJECT_ID of the size of the HSP_UNIQUE_NAMES table

Make sure that this record has been deleted from the table.

Then delete the OBJECT_ID of the dimension line in the tables below, if it is present:

HSP_MEMBER (both MEMBER_ID and DIM_ID must correspond to the OJBECT_ID)

HSP_MRU_MEMBERS (must match DIM_ID, this table is present in the system 9)

    HSP_DIMENSION (DIM_ID must match)

HSP_OBJECT (remove the line you previously retrieved when checking the OBJECT_ID)

    HSP_PENDING_XACTS (usually empty, but check)

    Restart the schedule service

Do a refresh of the planning application to Essbase

Login to the application on the web of planning and confirm you can no longer see the dimension and get no errors. Note You can initially see errors because of pages cached in your browser, then refresh the page and browse around to see if the error persists.

Connect to EAS and remove the dimension in the Essbase outline. Save the change to the outline, when asked.

Make an another refresh of the planning application to confirm that no errors occur

I understand what was wrong: I used the above to remove the tables, but I changed the xml files in order to import the webforms.

Here are the steps that I took and it fixed the issue:

1 restored the backup of the table from when they worked

    2. She refreshed to Essbase

    3 stopped all services

4 remove the size of the tables above and HSP_FORMOBJ_DEF_MBR.

Create a new application and import has been a problem because I'm importing the application in the same environment and also I need to change all the xml files that has been a long time and had many errors.

In any case, thanks for your help.

  • Problem EPMA - request for Essbase BSO - UDA

    Hello
We have a shared in EPMA hierarchy that we use to maintain the Dimensions in applications.
Among the sizes that I need in the Essbase BSO application - two of them have specific UDAs assigned to them. (two for each Member in these dimensions - UDAs can be shared between dimensions)

    Dimension_A
    -Member_A1 (UDAx, UDAy)
    -Member_A2 (UDAp, UDAq)

    Dimension_B
    -Member_B1 (UDAx, UDAy)
    -Member_B2 (UDAp, UDAq)

    UDA
    -UDAx
    UDAy-
    -UDAp
    -UDAq

But when I deploy the app, I see only a UDA update in the Essbase outline (checked via EAS)
    Dimension_A
    -Member_A1 (UDAx)
    -Member_A2 (UDAp)

    Dimension_B
    -Member_B1 (UDAx)
    -Member_B2 (UDAp)

I don't know why it isn't updated outline properly - can anyone suggest what could be the problem?
I tried redeploying several times / deleting the dimensions by adding still / even rolled out a new app from scratch - no luck.

    Concerning
    Ankur

When you add more than 1 UDA. You need to perform a redeployment after the addition of a new UDA.

Add a new UDA Member-> remove the OLD.
    Deploy.
Back to EPMA-> add the OLD to the new UDA
    Deploy again.

Do this for the first of the dimension hierarchy

    Ex:

    DIM [Dimension]
    --Also [parent]
    -A1 [child /Lvl0]
    -A2 [child /Lvl0]
    ------B
    -------------B1
    -------------B2

Do the changes described above for A, A1 and A2. Once done, the changes should be reflected at B, B1 and B2 and others, as appropriate

The changes should now be seen in Essbase.

  • Orphaned member

    Hi all

    Explain what "Orphaned members" HFM.

    Thank you

    Hi nkumars,

Orphaned members are members who are not attached to the parents.
The two ways most popular member can become orphaned is:
(1.) to change to existing metadata, such as rename, will force the children become orphans. HFM was designed this way. He treats the members newly appointed as a piece of "new" metadata
(2.) to change to existing metadata, such as the removal of the Member in the hierarchy (in which case the Member does exist nowhere in the hierarchy), but not actually delete the dimension all together.

    For example:
To view the account orphans members in metadata (classic) Manager.
1.) metadata in the metadata Manager
    2.) open the accounts Dimension
3.) on the side right of the metadata Manager, click list members
    4.), click Show orphaned members

You will notice that there are system accounts in the list of orphaned members. This is because these accounts don't rollup or have relatives. Other than the system of accounts, you should have no orphan members.

    I hope this helps.

Send me a note if you have any questions about this post.

    -David
