Deleting a replica

Hi all

I can't delete a replica for a reason any, as it is grayed out.

I connected to the host and removed from there, but now it shows in vCenter as orphans

Is there another way to remove that?

Thank you

James

Replicas are removed in View write when there are more clones depends on the use of this replica.    From time to time they won't get deleted properly and when it happens there is a KB KB VMware: conclusion and removing unused virtual machines replica in the Horizon of VMware View, which can help in eliminating appropriate replica.

  • VDI on VSAN: disconnected Replica (bow down)

    Hi all

I hope that someone can help me with this one because I don't see a way around this other than the manual way.

We have a cluster of 16 knots VDI, running 6.0 U1 and view 6.2.1.

We had a host fails and he is currently down for maintenance due to the replacement of material. It took some of our linked clone VM (not a problem) and also it has disconnected one of our replica VM that this host was where it was registered to.

    http://imgur.com/z0EBopz

Now, luckily for us this replica is linked to a pool that is used to test and not our 500 + office pool. If it was, I'm pretty confident that our provisioning actions would begin to fail. The manual fix, I would have to do would be to remove this object from the replica of the inventory and it add to browse the data store.

Anyone had this before? What is I think correct? Finally this behavior can ruin?

    I appreciate any input!

This should not be a problem honestly. If a start-up operation starts it should just clone a new replica. Delete the replica and a new host record are not the right answer. Do you a lot... a lot of problems. If the host will never come back you can manually remove the replica of the DB and vCenter. The whole idea behind the replica VM is that it can be destroyed at will, because your base image is somewhere else.

Can you give us more details about your host, storage and pool configurations? Have you tried to update one of the clones in the pool just to see what happens?

  • Cleaning of the inaccessible disks Replica

So I just browsing my data warehouses through everything to ensure that everything is fine when I came across three disks inaccessible marked replica.

I did some research and was unable to find much on this. All of our related clones are working properly and all systems are running. My questions is there a way to tell if this is actually used or can I delete it? I have attached a ss of what I found.

  • Initial seed

    Hello

How are they managing initial data priming guys?

    Our situation is as follows:

We have our main SAN and ESXi infrastructure to the A. also site to the site, we have a spare SAN. We want exemplary (seeds) all virtual machines important to spare SAN and dream lead to site B for continuous replication.

My question is, how can we get the initial starting on the simplest SAN spare data? I tried to copy, but which requires the source VMs to be turned off, which is a no-go. If I do a clone, I have to manually delete the extra copy (clone) of the perfect Server (but do not remove data) and even then, I don't know a clone keeps the same UUID disk.

It seems to me however I do it, it involves a lot of manual work. Can anyone think of a better way? The manual is not clear on this subject.

    Thank you

    Rasmus

    Hello

    You can:

    1 configure replication vSphere on-site.

    2. wait for the initial synchronization to complete.

3 perform the failover using the latest available data (without turning off the VMs source) and without on/off virtual machines recovered.

4 be cancelled in vCenter Server VMs recovered, but keeps the files on disc.

5 undo the configuration of replication (already recovered - VRM will not attempt to delete the replica hard).

6 bring the SAN on the other site.

7 Configure replication to the new site and use initial copies in the form of seeds.

  • Is there an easy way to delete the original files replicated by iTunes game downloads?

I have a library of great music stored on my Mac. When I subscribed to iTunes game, most of my songs appear in iTunes with the icon 'cloud' indicating that I was able to download the track, even if the files were stored locally in my iTunes music library.

For various reasons, I wanted iTunes to recognize the local mapping to all my music files, so I selected my entire music library in iTunes, right click and choose 'download '. Now, it seems that all the files are uploaded to iTunes as a high quality files, which is great, but if I look in the folder for each album in my iTunes music library, I see now two copies of each song - the original file and the new higher quality file.

In iTunes, I see only an entry for each track, so it's good, but the additional files are eating plenty of disk space unnecessarily. I don't want to go into every single album folder and delete old files to original, so I hope there is an easier way to remove.

  • Two (or more) mp3 files for a song? can I delete one of them?

    Hello world

I use iTunes 12.4.3.1 on iMac with OS X El Capitan.

I recently created a "parallel" to the MP3 playlist for a playlist with about 100 titles, because I need to burn it to CD. So far so good.  No doubt, I made some kind of mistake, and now I've discovered that, for each mp3 track have have two or more files.  They do NOT appear as duplicates.  Duplicates show two versions of the song, such as AAC and the other in mp3 format.  As in the following screenshot.

But if I select the song mp3 (the one with 160 Kbps) and click on 'Show in finder' I get the following THREE files:

The "right" one is that with time later and the '1' in the name, I know using the option "information" on the song.

    so now the questions are:

    (a) how it happened?

    (b) is it possible to find ALL these duplicates and delete them?

    (c) in the case, can I delete them manually without risk to my music library?

I am relatively new to Apple, I will be grateful for all the advice

    Best regards

    Claudio

    (a) you can know with certainty, but my guess is that you have made a conversion like this before, and then deleted the new songs in the library after use, without deleting the corresponding files in the press kit at the same time. When iTunes tries to make a new copy by using the standard file naming scheme there is already a file it if it adds etc. '1' or '2' that required such file until it can make a new file name. (In some scenarios, it starts with "2" but I can't remember which).

    (b) use file > add to library, and select the iTunes Media folder. Anything not currently connected to iTunes is added to the library. Use file > library > show duplicate items > same Album to an exact replica of the list. Sort on Date added. Remove duplicates added only today. Send messages deleted to the trash.

    (c) see b). Manual removal is usually difficult and prone to error. You must be sure that the file you are deleting is not that the library is connected to. It may not always be apparent from the date or name.

There are a set of circumstances in which multiple entries of the library can be connected to a single file. If there is a risk that this then some extra to take when removing care needs, but this is not a problem in the scenario described and the given solution addresses only the physical dupes who are in the media folder and are not currently connected to iTunes.

  • Firefox F - Droid on Replicant Android does not not to launch

Even after uninstalling and reinstalling, Firefox for Android of F-Droid on Replicant on Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 do not work. At launch, it gives a message box "Firefox is not responding. You want to close? [Pending] [OK] "so I can not even change any settings or go to any URL, even a subject: URL. He has already worked on this device and the version of Replicant. I wonder if I need to manually delete the files that may remain after the uninstall and the problem? Any help much appreciated!

I found the answer, which is specific to Replicant Android:

  • Firefox seems to have created a duplicate Inbox folder - so now there are two. I can't delete one or the other.

The 'Inbox' folder double originally was a replica of the original, even if both have the same name, so I couldn't tell which was the original and which was the double. New mail has been only appear in one of them, so I have deleted all the mail in the other. Things seem to work fine, but I have still two folders named "Inbox". One of them is empty, but it can always be removed.

You can delete the Inbox folder that does not receive messages more in the file system.

First, find the folder in your profile.

AppMenu button - help - troubleshooting - profile directory - Open Directory information

Your profile directory opens in Windows Explorer.

    Close Thunderbird.

Find the account and directory with the two files from the Inbox in the file system, generally below "Mail" or ImapMail', depending on your account type.

Must be multiple files with the box in his name. Messaging files are those without file extension, so you can ignore *.msf files.

Determine what is your current Inbox file, for example based on date and/or the content. Messaging files are text files that can be opened with a text editor.

Delete the one that you want to get rid of and restart Thunderbird.

It's probably a good idea to create a full profile backup before you start playing with it.

  • Portage Z30-A-13W connected to the high speed Port Replicator III - USB problems

    Hi all.

We recently bought a new Portage Z30-A-13W and Hi-Speed Port Replicator III.
Setting network and graphics work correctly with port replicator, but the USB ports don't work at all.

I tried the port replicator USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 and I can't seem to work with a keyboard, mouse, USB key or a mobile phone.

In the case of mobile phones, it is also no output power of the ports that the mobile does not start to load.

At any one another experianced this problem and what was the resolution.

    Thank you very much

    Jonathan Davies

    Hello

As far as I know additional drivers are not really needed to use the USB ports.
This is why I m wondering why don t USB ports work.

It might be possible that ports high speed Port Replicator III USB are faulty, but to be honest, I can't imagine that all 6 USB ports may bad work at the same time.

So maybe it s a software problem.
First of all, I would recommend the default BIOS and check the USB legacy support for keyboard and mouse could be activated.
After access to the Device Manager and remove / delete the USB hubs and controllers in the list of devices.

Keep high speed Port Replicator III connected to the computer and restart the device.
Usually, the system should recognize automatically deleted USB ports and must update the drivers of USB ports.

I hope that the USB ports don't work after this short workaround solution.
    Keep your fingers crossed.

  • WARNING: iCloud library deletes the original photos on Mac

Recently, I turned on the library to iCloud in the Photos app preferences. I chose the option "Download this Mac originals," not "optimize Mac memory" so all my original full quality photos will remain on my Mac and probably be safe. After uploading to the cloud ended (took a while), I made a backup of my Mac using Retrospect. I noticed that a lot (almost all by the number of GB) photos were being backed up, what happens if the file or its attributes modified. I was wondering why to send photos to the cloud would change my photo files. I decided to review individual cases to see if there were differences from the original versions. (Luckily, I had a clone of my HD last week, which had all my photos some before iCloud photo library has been activated.) So I could compare the originals on the clone for the pictures changed on my Mac's hard drive.)

To find files modified more easy, I used sync Pro, which gives me a list of files that it thinks are different. I discovered that more than 150 of my 9500 photos have been deleted after turning on iCloud photo library! It was shocking, but it is good news.

I have carefully reviewed the photos maybe a decade or two that had been deleted. If they had any duplicates which were not deleted. In other words, apparently Photos, trying to send photos to iCloud, reviewed my photos and remove duplicates from my hard drive. By comparing these duplicates, I have found not all were an exact replica, as follows.

    • Several photos appear to be identical files with the same size and file modification dates. Actually duplicates, thus eliminating one is without real loss, although I don't like deletions of software that Apple all of my original photos at first.
    • Some 'duplicates' had different size files. It's relative. In all these cases, examine photos of GraphicConverter revealed that Photos had deleted the photo of lower quality, depending on the quality of compression ratio or %. (The photo of lower quality is not always a smaller file size.)
    • Some "double" had same file sizes but different modification dates. I think that, in these cases, pictures kept the old file, which would probably be the original.
    • Some have had different file size and date to change different.  In these cases the Photos deleted the photo of lower quality.

Based on examination of a small percentage of the total number of deleted duplicates, Photos seem to be taken of intelligent decisions on how to remove duplicate.

What I don't know, is how or why most photo changed during the download process to iCloud, such files as revealed by Retrospect. But looking at my photos, I did not notice any obvious problems.

Implementation of Apple to iCloud library caused similar problems when I tried first. He changed most of my files of songs (according to retrospective). When this happened, I have restored the original files of the song from a backup and off the musical library to iCloud. I gave Apple several months for bugs and the week last tried railway. This time, it seems to go smoothly and none of my songs files have been changed. Now I'm enjoyimg music Apple and the possibility to add streaming music to my playlists.

I like to be able to view my pictures on all my Apple devices, and when the next tvOS comes out soon, I'll be able to view my library on my Apple TV iCloud too. So I won't restore all my photos from a backup, then off iCloud photo library. Here's hoping that I find out later that one of my favorite photos are definitely missing or altered.

    El Capitan 10.11.3

    1.3 photos

    iMac (24 inch, early 2009)

Based on examination of a small percentage of the total number of deleted duplicates, Photos seem to be taken of intelligent decisions on how to remove duplicate.

I noticed similar symptoms.  When I import a picture that is a duplicate of one already in my library of Photos, both copies will share the same original image file in the folder of masters. Photos allows you to import duplicates, but will store only one version. This makes it almost impossible to replace JPEG corrupted by the restored versions of a backup.

You can watch iCloud checking for duplicates while you download new photos. Launch the Console.app and look for the process 'photomodell '. You will see many entries like this:

  • USB device not recognized when connected to Toshiba Port Replicator II

I recently bought the Replicator above, loaded the software, restarted my computer and only then connected the device according to the instructions.

I get the error message "unrecognized usb device".
When I go in my gear and check for driver for this device 'unknown' told me that no drivers have been shipped for her

    So my Replicator does not.
I deleted the software and reloaded with the same result

I have a laptop Tecra A8 running Windows XP Service Pack 2
Any help or suggestion would be appreciated

As much I know PortReplicator II only is not supported for Tecra A8. According to the sustained specification is Port Replicator III + only.

If you try to use the option not supported, it is not easy to give any help.

  • Why not delete pictures double in bulk from my Mac and iphone

Whey can't I look at and then delete photos duplicate on my Mac, iPhone and iPad. I am disappointed by Apple

Photos is checking for duplicates when you import photos. So avoid the photos in your photo library duplicate. It is a tool for the screen duplicates library probably wh Apple omitted.

You can use third-party tools to pary to find duplicates however. These applications are compatible with the Photos:

If you have duplicates of a different pixel size in your library as well, then consider Photo Sweeper. We can compare the histograms or bitmaps from photos, so you can detect duplicates as well edited.  In addition, you can set up rules assigned to photos to keep and which to dispose, for example to give preference to more recent photos, photos with the largest size of pixel or photos with metadata.

PowerPhotos is a great tool to have, when you work in Photos for navigation of several libraries of Photos at once and to see the photos annotated with metadata. It can move photos between libraries and help you merge libraries. But the duplicate detection is not as versatile as in Photo Sweeper. It can detect mainly exact replica.

I don't know much Duplicate Annihilator, so I can't say how it will compare to the other two.
