Deletion of specific account authorization AD ESXi host-help needed

Hi all

I would like to delete a specific AD to ESXi host account.

I tried to use the remove-vipermission command using the syntax

delete-vipermission-permission domain\accountname - confirm: $false

example: remove-vipermission-abc\user1 permission - confirm: $false

ABC-field

User1 - field user

But I get an error...

Can someone help me with the exact statement to remove this element using powercli...

You can try this

$permission = get-VIPermission-main abc\user1

Delete VIPermission authorization $permission - confirm: $false

  • Several ESXi hosts and need to share virtual machines

    I'm relatively new to ESXi (although a lot of vSphere, using iSCSI storage) and we are making a number of servers in remote site (with a proxy and utility VM to manage the file/print/dhcp) using ESXi. I have my VMs built on the first box and need to copy them off the coast to the other, but I have problems with the command ADD Storage... I can't seem to get the right information and I begin to think I'm missing something basic. Then...

    (1) can map you to the VMFS from another host esxi?

    (2) If you can, where do you find the location on the second machine information to set up the data store on the first machine?

    If it's important, we use Dell PE of the 1950s.

    Also, while I'm here...

    The size of a pain is to change the IP address or the name of the ESXi host area?

    Thanks in advance for any help!

    VMFS is not supported on USB drives.

    You can use FastSCP for example, http://www.veeam.com/vmware-esxi-fastscp.html

    And Yes, there are several devices that could share storage attached to the network locally, but I don't see them as a solution when you want to just copy existing virtual machines to another host ESXi.

    With the release of ESXi 5.1 it is possible to create an account on the ESXi host and assign them Full Admin privileged but there are a lot of admins of loggin in each ESXi host and user account creation.

    I would like suggestions to add the ESXi to AD and add the authorization based on domain accounts.

  • Zoning properly esxi host

    Hello

    I'm new to CF. I have an esxi host, I need to create a zone for on my FC switch. When I look in vSphere, I see two addresses for my QLogic HBA. It shows 20:00:00:26: ff: xx:xx:22:01 21:00:00:26: ff: xx:xx:22:01.

    I go to my FC switch to create an alias. Then, I add the wwn as a member. If I expand WWN and one from above, there a sign next to him, if I ignore + the + and add it like this, as well the added 21:00 and 20:00. However, if I develop the + and forest down in it and then add him, only one of these addresses gets added.

    No idea what is good?

    It is not really specific to vmware, as each server I have shows the same thing, I just found this community more useful

    Zoning, you would typically use the WWPN (World Wide Port name) that is assigned to a single port. With a single HBA port you have a WWN/WWNN (World Wide Node name) and a single WWPN, and for multi-port cards, you'll always have a unique WWN/WWNN but several WWPN, which can be used for different areas. (maybe World Wide Port name - Wikipedia help)

  • Backup of ESXi host configurations

    When you use the host profiles, what is the best way to save specific ESXi hosts?  Your host profile standardizes the host configuration, but if you need to restore your ESXi host for a reason, even after the application of the host profile must be configured to the specific IP, hostname, etc of the host.

    Assume that you have an installation of VMware enterprise with 50 + guests.  Is there a good way to automate the backup and restoration of specific configurations of different ESXi hosts?  RCLI scripts? VMware Assistant management scripts? Some 3rd party management software tools?  Your ideas / popular experiences. (In this environment Auto-déployer has been dismissed as a management option)

    Thank you

    Yep, answer files are a feature of the host profile and do not depend on deploy Auto.

    Automatic deployment takes just left this feature also.

  • I want my standard account work and delete the Admin account.

    When I got to the computer a portable windows 7 I did the daughter of a user name maxewell my keyboard got wet and I had it repaired my password was Danielle livick when I got my laptop back I added Danielle 28 and it of a standard user and deleted maxewell daughter well, in the search bar it shows up , but not in the control panel to remove it, so I don't know why it's there and how to remove and also I made an account administer Danielle 29 and every time I do something on my computer a thing with Danielle 29 and he asks me a password then when I did the admin account , I didn't put a password I tried to remove it and it won't let me all I want my standard account 28 Danielle and delete the admin account, but I can't help me please

    Original title: Hi I have a windows 7

    You must be at least one account Admin on the PC.  It's just the way that Windows 7 works.

    The account that you used to make the new Admin account must also be an administrator full - account only administrators can make new accounts.

    Of running Windows 7, it is recommended to use a user account Standard for all daily activities.  In addition to that, make two password protected administrator accounts & write passwords.  Make a password reset disk for each account on the PC.

    On the removal of Maxewell girl - the account is deleted [this is possible by an Admin]

    1. go to the daughter of C:\Users\Maxewell's and copy all the files of this user that you want to continue

    2 using Control Panel, user accounts, manage another account.

    3 you can then remove the entire Panel Contorl system, advanced system, Advanced tab settings user profile, select user account profiles - settings button - then click on the button Delete

    4. go on girl C:\Users\Maxewell's and verify that the files are deleted

    Hi all

    If someone can help me with a powercli script to create a new account a local administrator on all ESX and ESXi hosts in the vcenter, create a role called admin and give all access except the root. This shoulb be past by a virtual centre.

    Very much appreciated to help him.

    Kind regards

    I suspect that you posted your question to the wrong thread

    This requires only a minor change to the script above actually.

    Something like that

    $groupName = "group"$accountName = "user"$accountPswd = "password"$accountDescription = "A user"

    $esxlist = Get-VMHostforeach($esx in $esxlist){    Connect-VIServer -Server $esx -User root -Password "password"

        Try {      Get-VMHostAccount -Id $groupName -Group -ErrorAction Stop | Out-Null    }    Catch {      New-VMHostAccount -Id $groupName -GroupAccount | Out-Null    }

        $rootFolder = Get-Folder -Name ha-folder-root    Try{        $account = Get-VMHostAccount -Id $accountName -ErrorAction Stop |        Set-VMHostAccount -Password $accountPswd -Description $accountDescription -AssignGroups $groupName    }    Catch{        $account = New-VMHostAccount -Id $accountName -Password $accountPswd -Description $accountDescription -UserAccount -GrantShellAccess -AssignGroups $groupName    }

        $rootFolder = Get-Folder -Name ha-folder-root    New-VIPermission -Entity $rootFolder -Principal $account -Role admin

        Disconnect-VIServer -Confirm:$false}

  • Mobile 5.1 ESXi host in vCenter unpublished 6 - license?

    Hi all -

    If I take an ESXi host 5.1, previously managed (under license) via a given vCenter (also v5.1) and its key in the inventory management, then I disconnect/remove this host from the vCenter 5.1 and connect it to a completely new vCenter, what happens to the host of license?

    It disappear and become a 60-day eval, or his license key moves WITH the host in the new vCenter?  (The new vCenter in this scenario would have absolutely zero license keys from host ESXi that apply to guests of ESXi 5.1 existing installs below)

    I was wondering what 'happens' in this scenario I have the document our so-called steps for migration.  Yes, I know that this could / should all be tested "in the lab" but don't get started me on that.  Thanks for any comments on what I can expect.

    My best guess is that the host will LOSE its license now, it becomes a 'standalone' ESXi host when disconnected and removed from the old vCenter (via the "Delete" command).  I want to just make sure that it is also fully functional, if she has run VMs on it at the time or not (although Yes, I'll put it in maintenance mode before removing the old VirtualCenter and join a new).

    And Yes, of course I have old games of the existing environment 5.1 ESXi license keys.  I'm just trying to set expectations as to what is happening in licenses-wise once I move the host from the old to the new vCenter.  I have all pretty well understood technical pieces, including AVS and DVS network considerations.  Thank you.

    See this thread to another: Re: moving hosts to new vCenter and retaining current licences of host

  • How to restart annex 5.1 ESXi host?

    Hello

    Any method of restart ESXi host 5.1 on the calendar? Thank you.

    Kind regards

    YMIM

    You can schedule the reboot of the ESXi host using PowerCLI.

    Install the PowerShell and PowerCLI module on any Windows System.

    PowerCLI start programs

    or, you can run the commands below on PowerCLI prompt to test.

    Then save it the script to run as the specific annex filename.ps1 and Windows Task Scheduler.

    SE connect-VIServer vlab-esxi2 - root username - password "password".

    $vms = get - vm | where {$_.} PowerState - eq "Receptor"}

    foreach ($vm in $vms) {Shutdown-VMGuest - VM $vm - confirm: $false}

    sleep 60

    Restart-VMHost-Force - confirm: $false

    See this post to know how to program a PowerCLI script.

    What you need is to run a command on vSphere ESXi host to retrieve blocks removed on LUNs provisioned thin, take a look: VMware KB: use esxcli in vSphere 5.5 and 6.0 to retrieve the deleted VMFS blocks on LUNs provisioned thin

  • Remove data for a downgraded ESXi host syslog collector?

    Hello

    We already put out of service an ESXi 5 host in the cluster.

    However, network Syslog Collector, the host still appears with the hostname / IP address and the size of the log (about 18 MB).

    We would like to seek your advice on how to remove this entry to ESXi host Syslog collector Page.  Should I restart the service "VMware vSphere Syslog Collector" on vCenter Server?

    Thank you

    Post edited by: TonyJK

    If the server esxi already downgraded in judgment of sate, then you can delete the syslog file (in vcenter) to as esxi. If the underwater ESXI still running, you can disable forewall port for syslog (even if you can remove the host name of the syslog setting advanced collector.)
