Dell Inspiron 11 3162 Memory Upgrade

Bought a 3162 11 February 2016, only has 2 GB of RAM, my bad, bought a 4 GB of Dell card. Remove the cover and battery, can't see any remotely close to what they sent me. Any suggestions?

There are two different versions of this model - it comes with a hard drive and has a support memory that will take up to a 4G soDIMM.

Yours is the 2G version which comes with a built-in solid state (MEM) drive - one comes with 2G of RAM and has no support from the memory (memory is soldered to the motherboard and there is no way to upgrade).

One who recommended the memory module that you have bought or didn't know that none of the details of your system, but one way or the other you are stuck with 2G.

Dell Inspiron 660 has a slot of bad memory. It has two slots 4 GB in each slot, 8GB total. Only 4 GB show. I removed the ram and switched around and tried one in each location. My side slot on the left does not. Is this a common problem? It is expensive to replace the mother board? All the other fixes for this? I can put a 8 GB in a slot should I buy one?

Thanks for all the answers to my questions frustrated! Debra

II BIOS sees only 4 GB and any crack each RAM module is in it, then it looks like a motherboard failure.

According to the specifications, 660 modules only supports 2 and 4 GB of RAM with a max of 8 GB total installed. So none is not a module of 8 GB.

Several Inspiron 660 cards mothers available here and on the next pages of this site. And I guess there is always the eBay group own Dell spare parts.

Only you can decide how much you want to spend fixing it. And always ask if a replacement motherboard is new, used, refurbished and warranty.

  • Dell Inspiron and XPS or upgrade?

I need a new computer soon... currently I still an Inspiron 530 I kept passing over the years... 3rd video card, improved power supply and a case fan is what I've done for her, and I can still play games on it!

Not for long, I'm afraid... Fallout 4 is calling my name.

    My question:

I buy an another Inspiron with the I7 and just spend another 200 on a PSU and graphics card.

WHERE can I buy the XPS? They would be about the same price.

Someone at - it an idea?

    corbanova

The XPS 8900 with the i7 processor, games would be the best buy.

Note: Some of the newer systems Inspiron from Dell, have motherboards BGA, who owns the processor built into the motherboard.

  • Inspiron 15R 5520 Memory Upgrade problem

I have upgraded my laptop from 4GB to 12GB (4+8). After the upgrade, the laptop boots and runs very very slowly. My laptop came with 4GB ram 1600 single stick. I upgraded the RAM by adding another stick of 8GB same bus and same manufacturer. The BIOS shows the total memory as 2288MB instead of 12288MB. Windows detects total RAM of 12GB but boots and runs very slowly.

I have updated the BIOS from A06 to A07 trying to resolve the problem but with no luck.

When installing each RAM stick alone (4gb or 8gb), everything works fine, but the issue comes back again when both sticks are mounted together even when switching the places on the sockets.

    Looking for your kind support!

The problem is solved after that last update A11 BIOS

  • Upgrade a Dell Inspiron 531 to something with more memory and faster?

Hello, I have a Dell Inspiron 531, 32-bit operating system, and the 3G memory in it but is Vista. I tried to upgrade to Windows 7, but after many attempts, could not go without having to clear everything and start over. So I'd do it if I have to do I was wondering if I could make the machine that is more memory better and faster, without having to buy a new computer say a Dell XPS 8300 (that I'll have to run a lot of photographic software in the future and I understand that this could be a good computer for that?) In any case, it is possible to 'upgrade' the computer something like this please, or I have to save my pennies for a new? Thank in advance for your advice.)

    Hello

If you upgraded to 4GBs off RAM you won't get many benefits

Here is an article on what is happening with 4GBs of RAM:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929605

"If a computer has many features implemented, the available memory can be reduced to 3 GB or less." However, the maximum memory available in 32-bit versions of Windows Vista is typically 3.12 GB. »

and you should also consult the Dell manual for your model desktop computer see what amount of RAM your motherboard would answer anyway

    http://support.Dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/my_systems_info/manuals?c=us&l=en&s=Gen& ~ CK = anavml

and here is the reason why you can not upgrade to Windows 7

There are no Windows 7 drivers written for her by Dell

  • Dell inspiron 15R Memory Upgrade N5110

    Hello

I have a dell inspiron N5110, and I plan on upgrading the RAM modules, which are estimated at 1333hz. I would like to know if the motherboard can support modules of RAM at higher frequencies, if so, how much of a gain of performance can I expect.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

Fastest modules may work but will not increase the speed - 1333 MHz is the speed of memory limit in this model.

  • Upgrade memory for DELL INSPIRON 14 N4050

    Hello

I plan to upgrade RAM to my laptop DELL INSPIRON 14 N4050 & the current configurations are:

    1 213-14765: 2nd generation processor Intel (r) Core (T M) i5 - 2450 M (2.50 GHz with Turbo Boost up to 3 GHz.10 2.0)

    2. 370-18553: 2 GB (1 x 2 GB) DDR3 1333 Mhz DIMM 1

    My question is:

    1. the capacity of the RAM is supported?

    2. what happens if I use the 1600 Mhz instead of 1333 Mhz module?

    Thank you.

    1. 8 G in total, 2 x 4 max.

    2. the memory running at 1 066 MHz max - you need a CPU to run 1333 i7;  the system cannot run faster even if 1600 1333 memory is installed.

  • Dell Inspiron 5521 | Upgrade RAM | Memory module

I have a laptop Dell Inspiron 5521 have 4 GB of RAM. I intend to add 8 GB of additional RAM.

    Thus, the total RAM would be 4 + 8 = 12 GB.

I found the following information in the Dell Specifications User Guide:

    Memory

    Connectors:

Inspiron 5521 two accessible DDR3 SODIMM connectors internally

Inspiron 5537 two accessible DDR3L SODIMM connectors internally

    Capacity up to 16 GB

    Type:

    Inspiron 5521 dual channel DDR3

    Inspiron 5537 channel DDR3L

    Speed up to 1600 MHz

Supported configurations 2 GB, 4 GB, 6 GB, 8 GB and 16 GB

I found the following information of the memory by running the command on my laptop:

    Total Width: 64 bits

    Data Width: 64 bits

    Size: 4096 MB

    Form Factor: SODIMM

    Set: None

    Locator: JDIMM2

    Bank Locator: Not Specified

    Type: DDR3

    Type Detail: Synchronous

    Speed: 1600 MHz

Question 1: is - it possible to add 4 + 8 = 12 GB configuration in this laptop?

Question 2: I have to use DDR3 instead of DDR3L RAM in this laptop?

Question 3: What RAM is better supported with this laptop, Kingston or CORSAIR Vengeance?

Note: I use Ubuntu on this Machine.

    1. Yes, but at a loss of performance.  It is designed for a pair of corresponding modules.

    2. or will work by itself.  Do not mix DDR3 and DDR3L though - if you have DDR3, use that; If L, use that if you add a module.

    3. critical is hard to beat, especially given its guarantee of compatibility when buying through their memory Configurator.  Anything else - ask the supplier on guarantees of compatibility (or make sure that you understand the possible of the restocking fee if a return is necessary).

Hello, this is my first post on the Dell forums. I have a Dell Inspiron 530 with these specs: Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 2.20 GHz, 4 GB of memory at 800 MHz and a GeForce GT 610. It's the mid 2007 530 model. I have an extra CPU laying around, Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600. I wonder if I can use in this office. Also, what is the maximum amount of memory that I can install in it? You should check what version of motherboard.

The Inspiron 530 has two variants of motherboards, made by Foxconn and based on the G33M series.

The G33M02 supports up to processors Core 2 Duo and the DG33M03 that supports the processors Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Quad.

Inspiron 530 systems sold with Pentium Dual-Core or Core 2 Duo processors cannot be upgraded to Core 2 Quad processors without adding at least a 350W power supply and swap the motherboards to the DG33M03 version.

The G33M02 does not support processors Core 2 Quad is because he has 6 ICs, the DG33M03 voltage regulator has 11.

Note: Before upgrading the processor, make sure you have BIOS Version 1.0.15 or a more recent version, when support for the new Intel processor has been added.

The Foxconn G33m02 [Dell P/N ORY007] motherboard, supports a maximum of 4 GB of RAM DDR2, 530 Mini Tower with a Foxconn G33m03 motherboard systems can support 8 gb (4 x 2 GB modules).

530 s Dell 'Slimline' systems have a Foxconn G33m02 motherboard which only supports a maximum of 4 GB [either4 x modules of 1 GB or 2 x 2 GB modules].

Note also for Windows to recognize 4 GB more memory, you must have a 64-bit operating system installed.

  • RAM Dell Inspiron 530 (initially 3 GB of RAM with Vista 32-bit), can be upgraded to more than 4 GB, Windows 7 64-bit?

I have a Dell Inspiron 530 with 3 GB of RAM, bought 4 years ago, with Windows Vista 32-bit.

Since then, I've updated for Windows 7 64 bit PC and want to upgrade the RAM to 4 or 6 GB.

Site Web of Dell indicates that memory on the Inspiron 530 is limited to 4 GB.  Is this true with Windows 64-bit?

I thought that with 64-bit Windows, you could spend as long as could be installed in the 4 memory locations, well more than 4 GB of RAM.

    Can someone clarify the situation?

    Panzano

Yes, it's the same motherboard, just a revised reference number.

Better to open the case and check the label on the motherboard.

Here is a list of the different revisions of the same motherboard part numbers

  • DELL Inspiron 11 3147 2-in-1 upgrades

Nice day. I wanted to share my experience with the DELL Inspiron 11 3147 2 in 1 with Intel N3540. I bought the DELL decision-making. Receipt in very good condition. Slight marks pry where the bottom cover had been removed. I liked the form factor, the convertible function, the choice of the processor and suggested the battery life.

    I added,

    SAMSUNG SSD 850 EVO 250GB,

Kingston HyperX 1600 MHz CL9 SODIMM 1.35v DDR3L Impact computer laptop memory HX316LS9IB/8 GB Black and

    Intel 7265NGW Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 802.11ac, Dual Band, 2 x 2 Wi - Fi + Bluetooth 4.0.

    The tools,

    small Phillips screwdriver,

nylon spudger levers, to promote the elimination of the lower pane l to facilitate the removal and installation of the 3 elements mentioned.

Adapter USB 3.0 to 2.5 "SATA III hard drive cable w / UASP - SATA to USB 3.0 Converter for SSD/HDD - hard drive adapter cable

    or

Case disk 2.5 "SATA 6 GB/brightness with USB cable

Cloning software (Samsung included migration and optimization of the software). You can download from the Samsung website, or drive transfer included, you will need an external optical drive.

Samsung software at this point 20/08/2015 can support Windows 10 who I had updated. The migration software would not recognize the Samsung SSD as I tried to clone the SSD drive. I called Samsung Customer Service and the other suggestion is that among the updates of Microsoft or DELL, can hide the USB connection. I used the recovery software to get back the Inspiron 11 3147 to original state of Windows 8.1, (no update) and the software of Samsung acknowledged the SSD. I installed the SSD and the recognized system. I am now in the process of updating Windows.

I had installed memory, 8GB, and the system has recognized and acknowledged the 8GB.

I had installed the WiFi card and the system has recognized and acknowledged the new card. The Intel 7265 is slightly wider than the original 1707 of DELL, which is a single channel card and he returned without modification.

There are other options of brand for replaced parts.

The main idea is to take your time, the background suppression is not complicated, the pry bar helps not to damage the case which is plastic. Parts of Austin, Texas people have a video on You Tube to remove the back to facilitate the removal and insertion of the HDD/SSD. The battery and the HARD drive screws must be removed to perform the Exchange.

I will update with new information regarding the replaced elements.

    Hello

I've updated the 3147 11 for Windows 8.1, all updates, you are prompted for on 21/08/2015. Windows 10 was not an option at the moment. I re-recorded through the icon of the window that appears on the notification at the bottom bar to the right. I added no additional software other than Bitdefender Free Anti Virus and CCleaner. I removed McAfee Livesafe, using the remove McAfee software before I cloned the Samsung SSD.

    Notes on hardware upgrades:

SAMSUNG 850 EVO 250GB SSD; The Samsung magician software news. Used space shows 40GB (Windows 8.1) 191GB of free space. Total capacity in the new storage 232.89 GB drive. The SSD is set for maximum Performance. Performance tests show sequential read 283 MB/sec, sequential write 271 MB/s, 27292IOPS and 18419IOPS to write random shuffle.

The Samsung SSD 850 EVO has the ability to preform better. The Dell system does not support a port SATA 6 GB/s (SATA3). The Samsung said that the SSD is connected to a SATA 3 GB/s (SATA2) port. I ran across this info on the net. Samsung software seems to be in accordance with that.

At this point, I accepted the results. I don't game or running demanding software that read/write of the highest scores would be beneficial for me. The advantage of using an SSD vs HDD. The SSD has no moving parts that I have to worry that I hold or move the 3147 11. The beginning, opening closing of the application software/is faster than the 5400 RPM HARD disk provided with the 3147 11.

The memory of 8 GB of Kingston: The Microsoft System info shows GB 8.00 (7.89 GB usable).

The Intel Dual Band wireless AC 7265: I have not used any test method to determine the actual changes compared to the Reference Dell 1707. It connects and maintains the connection. I use TWC combo phone/TV/internet by modem. The 7260 Intel and wifi 7265 cards were and are used in other DELL products.

3147 11 Device Manager shows all connections, no problems. I mentioned that when I had updated for Windows 10 with the HDD, I see a problem a device not connected and no driver available. I will look when 10 Windows is installed.

    Terry, thanks for your question.

  • Dell Inspiron 1721 Win 7 ultimate upgrade on Vista ultimate. ATI Raid driver problems.

I install Win 7 Ultimate on Windows Vista Ultimate Edition for my sister.  Although I am appalled by his duty to pay 200 more of the money it has paid to buy Vista Ultimate (for which she won Bitlocker and the possibility to join the areas, I have the following problem: she has a lot to gain a little and there are still problems in the installation of the OS.)  It would be good, at least, since it paid the price to have copies of the disks him were sent and more download (which I work with)

I am trying to install the upgrade from 32-bit to Windows 7 on my laptop Dell Inspiron 1721 and I get an error that says I need to update my ATI AHCI Compatible RAID Driver. I went into the device drivers update as described in the instructions and tried to update the driver but it says I have the latest version of the driver for it. So I tried to restart my laptop and represented the upgrade installation and received the same error message.
