Dell Optiplex 755 hard drive upgrade

I wanted to update my dell optiplex 755 (a second) by adding a new hard drive, it will suit the original (80 GB) and another to add, what type of hard drive I need to purchase, would need additional cables.

You get an APRICORN DRIVE WIRE and clone the old to the new, if it's a new empty hard drive.

You F12 boot the CD supplied with the kit and clone the old to the new drive.

The software is delivered with the drive from Apricorn wire works fine until windows 7.  The latest version of the software works with windows 8.

Norton Ghost works up to 7 also.  The latest version of acronis claims to work with windows 8.  I love the thread in the car because you get a bootable CD and you do not have to install anything.

  • Dell Optiplex 755 USFF E8400 upgrade?

    Greetings!

I have a Dell Optiplex USFF 755 I want to upgrade. According to some techspecs I found on the Dell site, this particular flavor of 755 can support up to an E6850 (65nm). I would use the E8400 Wolfdale (his ' 45nm counterpart with the same clock and fsb, but more cache) because in my opinion, it will also run more fresh in the lower limits of the ULTRA-COMPACT housing. Although not officially supported on the techspec list I found, I see that on the Site of Financial Services Dell and Dell's auction Site this same configuration is available in several units with installed E8400. Can I take this as a confirmation that it would be OK to upgrade to the E8400 to the Opti 755 USFF? Thank you!

PS I have the E8400 in another mobo is not a question of which get only on the question of whether I can use the E8400 in the 755 USFF. If I can't use the E8400 so I'll just keep the current cpu in place, but I really want to upgrade by using the E8400 if possible. The mobo currently has Bios of the A11.

The E8400 is supported by the chipset Q35 on the 755, which isn't always enough alone to make it work, but with the facts that 1) the E8400 was launched about 6 months after the processors on Teleworkers 'supported' list, and probably after this doc has been published, and 2) systems are set up there with this CPU would lead me to say that the E8400 will work in the 755.

    www.Dell.com/.../opti_755_techspecs.pdf

The latest version of BIOS is A21, and while none of A12 - A21 mention anything about CPU support... If you have any problems, it would be the first thing to look at, as undocumented support was added.

  • Dell OptiPlex 755 SFF rear disc HARD fan Press F1 CORRECTED an error!

EDIT: Fix for F1 error is on the #2 post. Try only if you know what you are doing and don't mind not having is not a HDD stupid fan. I now only use a SSD and it needs no power noisy fan to waste.

    ORIGINAL MESSAGE:

I removed the fan hard drive dying on the Dell Optiplex 755 SFF (fan is built in a hdd cage) and modded the side of the case to include a Yate Loon 120 mm fan. I removed the hard drive in its entirety and then used cage the where the floppy drive has been to place my SSD 256 GB of free space. The system is much more pleasant that way, and now he has place for 120mm fan (already modded).

However, at startup, there is a rear fan error and it asks you to press F1 to continue. It disappears when I connect the old dying noisy fan (has more room for it). Because I don't want the hard drive cage (or his fan also) and I can not put the fan back in, I want to use the connector and the son of the old fan dead and hang it in my nice new Yate Loon, which is the ideal solution for cooling (used as a suction fan).

    The color codes are:

    Yate Loon (D12SL-12): Red = 12v, black = mass, yellow = Tach (I think)

Dell drive HARD fan (STROKE BN06015B12H): Red = 12v, black = mass, yellow? Blue? (PWM or tachometer)

What are the blue and yellow for the Dell HARD drive fan? Can I just plug the Red of Dells Yates red and black wire on black? This should give me a 12v fan work, however I wonder if the loons Yate flying over red wire could be used for the sensor.

Any help would be great. Really sad that Dell did not include a fan setting ignore in the bios.

    Thank you!

    SkOrPn

EDIT: Ok, Yate Loon do not light up when it is connected to the fan header. What is missing? The old fan of Dell is rated 12v A 0.36 and the YL is 12v 0.30 A, less than the old fan so the fan header would seem like the logical place to get needed power as it provides much. When the old fan is plugged it provides 12v, but does not provide power when Miss the blue and yellow wires?

Edit2: Ok, understood as the Yate Loon uses the Red wire as the 12v fan (somehow, I thought it was yellow). Now, I think that the yellow must be a son of tachometer for rpm. Now I'm wondering if the Dell system can monitor the number of TOWERS to connect the yellow wire without prejudice to the system without the connected blue. In fact, I wonder if the controller monitors just RPM to warn of the fan failure. If so, maybe I can connect the yellow and get rid of this error from the BIOS at startup screen.

    Hello

I've linked yellow pine of wire of the connector of the fan HARD drive on yellow pine of the CPU fan connector and no fan of F1 more at startup error -correction

I have no need for my SSD disk drive hard noisy fan.

  • Instructions for the installation of Windows 10 on Dell Optiplex 755 with running Windows 7

I need instructions on how to install Windows 7 to 10 Windows on a Dell Optiplex 755.

    Task of pre-required

When you make significant changes to your computer for example updated operating system, you must always back up. See the links to resources on the backup by clicking the link for each version of Windows you are using: Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1

    then

    then

    • Turn off (preferably uninstall) your Antivirus utility before you perform the upgrade.
    • Reboot several times, and then try again.
    • Disable the general USB peripherals (for example - smart card reader).
    • If you are using a SCSI drive, make sure you have the drivers available for your storage on a thumdrive device and it is connected. During the installation of Windows 10, click on the advanced custom Option and use the command load driver to load the driver for the SCSI drive. If this does not work and the installer still fails, consider switching to an IDE based hard drive.
    • Perform a clean boot, restart, and then try again.
    • If you upgrade to the. ISO file, disconnect from the Internet during the installation, if you are connected in LAN (Ethernet) or wireless, disable both, then try to install.
    • If you are updated through Windows Update, when download reaches 100% disconnect from the LAN (Ethernet) Internet or Wi - Fi, then proceed with the installation.
    • If this does not work, try using the. ISO file to upgrade if possible.
    • If you are connected to a domain, go to a local account.
    • If you have an external equipment, attached to the machine, unplug them (example, game controllers, USB sticks, external hard drive, printers, peripherals not essential).

  • Problem with the Dell Optiplex 755.

Have a refurbished Dell Optiplex 755 with windows 7, only a few months ago.  Sometimes the screen rises all yellow and you can't get out.  Sometimes screen goes all black but if you click anywhere on the screen with the mouse will go up all that is behind the screen where you clicked, but you must do it all over the screen to see what is there.  Now the last week or so whenever you leave the computer and return windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown down.  Can someone tell me what could happen?

This behavior indicates a video problem.

A cable loose or damaged video from your computer to the screen.

    A failed video monitor.

This computer has a separate video card?  If the cable connected to the back of the PC is vertical, the answer is probably no.  If it's a separate video card, you need to open the PC and remove, then reinsert the video card - its called re-seats of the Board of Directors.

How old is follow you and what type is - LED or CRT.  Is - this really really heavy?

Remove and check the end of the thread and examine the tiny pins in the connector, none of them are bent?

The judgment is not likely related to changing the color on your screen.  A number of things that cause, but you need to check your hard drive and check the temperature inside the box.

Turn off the power.  Hold the button for 7 seconds.  Open the case and see if there is a lot of dust.  Have one of those cans of compressed air.  Blow off the dust from the case.  Pay special attention to the fan on the processor with the fins of the radiator aluminum under him.  Make sure that it is free as well as fans of dust.

You should test the hard drive to ensure that it is not a failure.  If you tell us the manufacturer of the drive, we can tell you where to find the appropriate software.  In the text box above the globe on the left lower part of peripheral type.  Type of device.  Click on Device Manager.  In the window that appears, click the small arrow to the left of the disc.  Send us the model number, you can see it.

Can I place a Dell OptiPlex 755 with Intel Core 2 Duo in Windows 8 Pro to Windows Pro 8.1? I tried several times. I wonder if my computer does not meet the requirements for upgrade. How can I?

    Hello Andrew,.

Thanks for posting your query on the Microsoft community Forums.

According to the description, you want to upgrade to windows 8 for windows 8.1 on your system.

As you already use windows 8 on your system, you can try to upgrade to windows 8.1. However, there are some system requirements that are needed to run windows 8.1 correctly on your system. Please see the link below for the topic of system requirements.

    Reference:

    The system configuration required

Outside the system requirements, you will also need the windows 8.1-compatible drivers. There is a possibility that some devices may not work if the compatible drivers for windows 8.1 are not installed on your system. Driver are manufactured by the manufacturer of the system. It seems that Dell has not made drivers for windows 8.1.

Refer to the link checking the available drivers for your system.

  • Second choice HD for a Dell Optiplex 755

    Hi all

I just bought a Dell Optiplex 755 to replace the Zino HD 400, which eventually gave the soul. My question is: can I use the hard disk of 1 TB of the ZINO as second player for the 755 and can I buy a plug adapter for the second span Prewired in the 755 that would fit the Zino HD?

Thanks for any help you can give.

    Will be

Looks like the Zino has a SATA 2 HARD drive, so you shouldn't have any problems in the 755, unless you have the screenshot form factor that supports only a SATA hard drive, and you may have to remove the floppy drive the other models of form factor, if installed, to make room for a second HDD.

You will probably be able to use the same data the Zino SATA cable the 755. Read the Manual for more information on the installation of a second HDD in your specific form factor.

  • Satellite A50-111 - HARD drive upgrade

    Hello!

I need to upgrade hard drive of my laptop because it is very slow. However, I know it's a 60 GB to factory-installed 4200 RPM.
I'm ready to be upgraded to a fast 7200 RPM, if possible, with a decent capacity, but I'm not sure of the supported hard drive type (IDE?, 2.5?) is a model of 5 years. In my view, there are incompatibilities with the laptops today, hard drive formats, so I really need help.
Thank you very much for your help!

These are the specs on the site
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/innovation/JSP/SUPPORTSECTION/discontinuedProductPage.do?service=EU&com.broadvis ion.session.new = Yes & PRODUCT_ID = 97598

    Hey Buddy,

In my opinion the HARD drive upgrade will not increase performance well then you should try the other options first as reinstalling Windows, or upgrade the RAM.

Anyway, Satellite A50 use IDE interface, so you can use hard disks of 120 GB of disk space.
Of course, you can take a model at 7200 RPM, but they need more energy and produce more noise.
    I recommend a 120 GB 5400 RPM model. That s pretty fast!
