Dell Optiplex 9020 fan slow speed

Hello

I'm pointing out the CPU of my Dell Optiplex 9020 and I noticed that the temprature rises and and the fan speed remains the same.

I used a software monitoring temp to know what is the problem and you can see the main CPU temperature remains low, while the rest of them is much higher.

Also, the fan speed remains the same...

Is this normal?

i5 / 16GB / 500 GB/W10 with all the latest news from drivers/BIOS using Dell order Update

The fan speed when it hit 74ºC?

The fan speed has increased during the diagnostics, which should have?

You can go on the Intel site to check what are the temporary specifications for your specific CPU, if that will make feel you better. But same 74ºC seems not very hot.

  • PXI-8360 (MXI-Express) PCI-8361 + Dell OptiPlex 9020 = "device cannot start." (Code 10) »

    Hello

I have a chassis PXI-1050, conencted to a Dell OptiPlex 9020 via a PXI-8360 and a PCI-8361 (identified as 199392B - 01L). It is Windows 7 64-bit. I can't start Windows very well, but MAX can't see all my PXI hardware. The Device Manager has also 2 inputs "PCI standard PCI to PCI bridge" with exclamation points.

I placed an old FireWire PCI card in the same dwelling and recognized PC. Thus, the slot went very well.

I transferred the PCI-8361 to an old PC that contains older drivers, and he acknowledged all my PXI hardware. For example, PXI gear works fine.

What could be the problem? Here's a screenshot of my software OR installed. I think I installed all the drivers I need. I checked NI Update Service; There is no update of Critcal, and only updates and Service Packs listed are 2013 LabVIEW and TestStand 2013.

    JKSH,

I look in that little bit more and think that I now know enough to be dangerous.

The BIOS allows the PCI Express native control mode in Windows.  PCIe natively do not like some of the architecture when you use the PCI card version, so it disables the bridges on the PXI card.  I can tell that your OS is PCIe natively because it lists one of the ports as "PCI standard PCI Express to PCI/PCI-X bridge" Device Manager like you posted.

I found that you can disable PCIe native mode, if you want to try it (but in general using the card PCIe is a better option).  Here are the steps:

-Open the start menu and type "cmd" in the search box; Right click on "cmd.exe" and run as administrator.

-In the command window, type "bcdedit/set pciexpress forcedisable.

    -Reboot.

I don't think it would break anything (it doesn't have on a system I've tried).  If you want to reverse the trend, the command is ' bcdedit/set pciexpress by default'

  • Dell Optiplex 990 - Very slow RESPONSE

    Hello

I'm new to this forum & don't know exactly where poster... then excuse me, if I posted in the wrong forum...

Well I need help to know about upgrading a system Optiplex 990 because I feel his slow work I need to increase the speed, here's the question I need help for:

    Current configuration:

    * Processor: Intel core i7 - 2600 processor 3,4 Ghz (4cpu)

    * Ram: 8 GB ddr3 - 1333 mhz frequency - (dimm1 = 2 GB, 2 GB, 4 GB dimm3 = dimm2)

    * Graphics: Nvidia Geforce 210-1 GB

    * OS: Win 7 Professional - 32-bit

    * HDD: 500 gb Sata.

    QTS:

    * Is it compatible to install win 7 Professional - 64-bit.

    * What is the maximum Ram capacity that the motherboard will manage the frequency n.

    * I have install an SSD instead of a standard HARD drive, if yes what is the maximum nerve for SSD.

    Waiting for answers

What form factor 990 you: Tower, office, small or ultra compact?

You have 8 GB of RAM installed but only a 32 bit OS which can only use ~3.2-3.5 GB of RAM.  How is what would have happened?

How useless junk is running in the background?

RAM max for small office, Tower, is 16 GB, DDR3-1600

Max RAM for ultra-small is 8 GB DDR3-1600

This system should be compatible with 64-bit Windows 7 and Dell offers drivers for Win 7/64-bit.

According to you what form factor Crucial.com offers a 1 t SSD, but it's expensive.

The first thing to do would be to install Win 7/64-bit, because who can use all the RAM that is currently installed and see if this improves performance before anything else...

  • Dell Optiplex 9020 with horrible sound

I installed Windows 8.1 (clean install of Microsoft ISO) on this new 9020 Optiplex and installed all updates from microsoft and then installed all Dell updates (using the web page support and my dell). Part of that is to install the audio driver Realtek Dell HD package.

After installation, the headphone/speaker output before jack product really terrible audio or no audio when connecting headphones (which worked beautifully with my previous Vostro 200 machine). The Dell software opens a popup to ask really strange questions about what I plugged (skullcandy headphones, earphones, speakers dell or right speakers). No matter what I choose the audio is either distorted and often missing voices or other sounds important or it is completely absent. Windows sound system is very good. So I know that the plug and the headset works very well, it's something to do with the dell software that causes the output this horribly distorted or filtered audio.

I don't want any "enhanced" or some audio special software tries to do, no movie mode, music mode or whatever it is. Just the normal sound as it is recorded.

It's so bad, that I'll have to consider buying a sound card, or dig my old USB audio device to have a decent audio output.

Rear audio output also has software problems unless I have install audio drivers from Dell. The rear output is failing to be a kind of treble only filtered out (no bass or midrange sounds) if I do not use the Dell software.

This really should not be difficult. A simple output DAC audio as it was recorded. That's all.

OK... after the call of support and to have a run around for more than 2 hours on the listed company as the owner of the computer, I diverted without help.

I spent another 3 hours fiddling with everything I could think of until I went back to the basics and did what I should have done from the beginning: tried different headphone directly connected to the machine before taking.

I actually tried 2 different pairs of headphones right when I first found the problem. Both have the same problem so I assumed that it had to be the machine because it is what has changed. And as the behavior seemed different in different applications, I thought it must be a software problem.

The fix was actually related to the material. I use an extension the monster headphone cable (yes I know, it's really cheap on Amazon) so that I can wear my helmet while I move my office and job fair in my office. Unfortunately, it seems that the male connector at one end of the cable is a bit small compared to most of the catch of helmet.

And they say that the size is not serious...

In any case, I use a combination of 2 extensions (a monster and one that came with my headphones), so I just swapped their so one that came with my headset is connected to the computer and everything works fine. I think that the short connector must have been filled should not have things or something like that.

  • Dell Optiplex 9020 Windows XP 32 bit drivers

Thanks, sorry for the necro, I however find working drivers for the NIC Intel-I217-LM here:

He finds by browsing this thread

  • Release date for OptiPlex 9020

    Hello

No one knows what will be the release date for the OptiPlex 9020 to the United States?

Seems to be already available on the Dell French site: http://www.dell.com/fr/entreprise/p/optiplex-9020-desktop/pd

I talked to my Dell Rep today and he told me that they will be not available in the United States until mid-September with a global presence and the company > employees 300 because Intel imposes limits on the new chip Haswell.  Just try to get another opinion.

  • RAID 1 on Optiplex 9020 and Ubuntu Desktop 14.04

Hi, first sorry for my English

I am trying to configure raid 1 with a dell optiplex 9020 minitower, but at the moment it does'nt work. I have configured raid 1 on the bios and installing ubuntu start but then fail.

Possible that the od raid controller PC is not compatible with Ubuntu Desktop 14.04?

Hardware RAID requires a controller. You then boot BIOS and Partition and INITIALIZE the container.

You start live linux and to partition and to format and install.  You can't do that on the fly during installation.

The container must be initialized as a single disc BEFORE any os turns.  The container must be initialized as a reader unique regardless of which operating system you want to install.

  • Dell OptiPlex 755 SFF rear disc HARD fan Press F1 CORRECTED an error!

EDIT: Fix for F1 error is on the #2 post. Try only if you know what you are doing and don't mind not having is not a HDD stupid fan. I now only use a SSD and it needs no power noisy fan to waste.

    ORIGINAL MESSAGE:

I removed the fan hard drive dying on the Dell Optiplex 755 SFF (fan is built in a hdd cage) and modded the side of the case to include a Yate Loon 120 mm fan. I removed the hard drive in its entirety and then used cage the where the floppy drive has been to place my SSD 256 GB of free space. The system is much more pleasant that way, and now he has place for 120mm fan (already modded).

However, at startup, there is a rear fan error and it asks you to press F1 to continue. It disappears when I connect the old dying noisy fan (has more room for it). Because I don't want the hard drive cage (or his fan also) and I can not put the fan back in, I want to use the connector and the son of the old fan dead and hang it in my nice new Yate Loon, which is the ideal solution for cooling (used as a suction fan).

    The color codes are:

    Yate Loon (D12SL-12): Red = 12v, black = mass, yellow = Tach (I think)

Dell drive HARD fan (STROKE BN06015B12H): Red = 12v, black = mass, yellow? Blue? (PWM or tachometer)

What are the blue and yellow for the Dell HARD drive fan? Can I just plug the Red of Dells Yates red and black wire on black? This should give me a 12v fan work, however I wonder if the loons Yate flying over red wire could be used for the sensor.

Any help would be great. Really sad that Dell did not include a fan setting ignore in the bios.

    Thank you!

    SkOrPn

EDIT: Ok, Yate Loon do not light up when it is connected to the fan header. What is missing? The old fan of Dell is rated 12v A 0.36 and the YL is 12v 0.30 A, less than the old fan so the fan header would seem like the logical place to get needed power as it provides much. When the old fan is plugged it provides 12v, but does not provide power when Miss the blue and yellow wires?

Edit2: Ok, understood as the Yate Loon uses the Red wire as the 12v fan (somehow, I thought it was yellow). Now, I think that the yellow must be a son of tachometer for rpm. Now I'm wondering if the Dell system can monitor the number of TOWERS to connect the yellow wire without prejudice to the system without the connected blue. In fact, I wonder if the controller monitors just RPM to warn of the fan failure. If so, maybe I can connect the yellow and get rid of this error from the BIOS at startup screen.

    Hello

I've linked yellow pine of wire of the connector of the fan HARD drive on yellow pine of the CPU fan connector and no fan of F1 more at startup error -correction

I have no need for my SSD disk drive hard noisy fan.

  • Slow startup on dell optiplex

I went on my Dell Optiplex and for some reason is now take ridiculously long to load up, and when it loads up the screen is black, all you see is the mouse cursor. Finally, it load windows 7, but is very insensitive and takes a long time for the simplest commands. I loaded my pc in safe mode with network and it works very well, I was using the same pc last night and worked very well. The only thing I installed recently is updated from the Microsoft window.

When I was in SafeMode I used recovery option to take back me to another date, but the problem still occurs.

Please help me solve this problem, will be eternally grateful.

Download and run Data Lifeguard (2nd in the list)

Report a SMART test result.  Want to see a green check mark

Right-click on your drive and choose executer run diagnostics, then choose quick.

You can run the extended too test, but it will take several hours to run.

This test will tell you if your hard drive is failed.  If this isn't the case, then you would have ruled out a possible major problem.  If the State FAIL, then your next action will be a new replacement hard drive.

IF all tests pass, your next step is to perform an analysis of the data recorded on the disc.  This test can take several hours.  To do this:

    1. Click on Start globe
    2. Point to all programs and wait
    3. Click on accessories
    4. Right-click on command prompt, select run as administrator
    5. In the black box type chkdsk c:/r

  • Dell Optiplex 7010 USB 3.0

Hello, I recently bought a Dell Optiplex 7010, i7 with Windows 7.  When I tried to copy on a 250 GB of data on a USB 3.0 external drive, it get a slow speed of 18 MB/s.  It would start at about 22 MB/s but then fall to about 18 MB/s.  I had checked the speed of the hard drive as some people recommended and I shows that I have 7200 rpm on all my hard drives, checked the connections to make sure that I use the blue ports 3.0 and have the latest software updates.

Can anyone tell if I can get better performance?

  • Satellite C850 - fan slows down videos + agitated

    Hello

I'm here to this post on my fan for laptop, my laptop is a Toshiba Satellite C850 and there an i3 processor

I know that's not good for games
the only games I play is war Thunder, minecraft, and things such as no major games for PC speck albums but its all I can get at the moment

I also do YouTube and when I'm trying to play and record I notice that my fan upward speed was normal frames then all of a sudden my fan slows to 20% and I get 5 images and very choppy videos

If someone could help me that would be very nice.
    Thanks :)

    Hello

From my point of view of a few notebook slow downs due to CPU Overload and temperature internal.
Due to the high amount of processes that are running at the same time, the CPU and the GPU to go up to the limit. The result is a high heat generated by the CPU and the GPU, and it's why modules and the cooling fan run faster.

After that will decrease the performance of the GPU/CPU to reduce the heat. This process slow down the fan and, of course, this affects video performance.

I think first of all you must check if the vents are free of dust. The CPU and the GPU require proper cooling and therefore cooling grids as well as turbine must be free of dust and debris.

I recommend also to check the window power management settings advanced.
There you can change the mode of cooling as well as the performance of the CPU and GPU.

Last but not the lower installation of a clean system could also be useful. Why?
Because the system might be overloaded by different background processes that slow down the system and lock the CPU

  • fan slow 5750g Windows 8

    Hello

I'm having a problem with my Acer Aspire 5750 G. I'm not usually a gamer, but under use heavy, the fan does not go to high speed, so he ends up overheating and shutdown of the laptop.

This problem is present on the Windows 8 operating system. The laptop stops, I immediately start the laptop, the fan is 100%, and as soon as I load Windows 8, it goes somewhere to 50% maximum. In ubuntu, the fan remains at 100%.

It seems that only the speed of the fan is affected, if the laptop is cool, the fan slows down.

Welcome aboard, you two. In both cases, it looks like a software problem, and in both cases, it's because you upgraded the operating system. Your platform has a powerful processor and plenty of RAM, but to keep the price too low that you paid, the monitor is not designed for high end games. When you try to play high end games, your platform can not handle.

It is difficult to find top Linux games of range, so if your fan runs at 100% Linux, you have a software problem (although it will probably not be hurt anything). When you upgraded to Vista or 7 (depending on where your machine was manufactured) you lost your drivers. All the new drivers that download you are not designed for your equipment.

There are some things you can do:

    (1) simply to raise the two upper corners will lower your temperature around 10F.

    (2) use compressed air to blow carefully into the exit event.

    (3) it will not cost much to have a repair shop to install a more powerful fan.
