Dell PowerEdge C2100 FS12-TY unknown Expander, PERC 6i/r - error (?) dDm

We have a couple C2100s Bay 12, we recently acquired. Unfortunately we are unable to make it work right. When we try to access the raid configuration utility it says "dDm" and then hangs, you gotta pull the plug to reset. We tried it on all of them. We passed on the PERC 6i/r with another and then it gives us an error "direct drive mapping". The firmware on the PERC 6i/r pre-installed does not exist anywhere.

We have never seen the "dDm" message before, so we do not know what to do with him.

I actually thought about it. Flash the latest firmware perc6i on the perc6i with that he came. Use the megafl.exe commands, not the update.bat.

    Hello Arjan

Yes, you can use SSDS in RAID 1.

The controller supports the TRIM and cancel orders mapping. SSD MLC are grade consumer SSD which will not have the life expectancy of SLC.

  • DELL PowerEdge R710 and PERC H700 RAID driver for WIn 2008 Std

    Hi all

    I have a DELL PowerEdge R710 with a controller RAID PERC H700.

I try to install Windows 2008 Std 64 bit, but I can't find the driver. Even for the site web at support.dell.com. Can someone help me.

    THX in advance

Even if you use a driver of 2008, it should at least recognize it, then you must be using the wrong driver or something wrong :)

If you are installing 2008 R2, make sure that you use this file:

If you install 2008 x 64, make sure that you use this file:

With one, you must first unlock the .exe (right click on the .exe, properties, unlock), unzip / extract the files (run it and make a note of the default location), and then copy the 4 files on a CD, USB, etc., then when Windows tells you that he is not all hard disks, click on the link drivers load below to load the drivers from the media you have chosen.

You cannot mix SAS and SATA drives in a RAID array.

  • Dell PowerEdge T320 PERC H710P Upgrade

Dear support, I have a Dell PowerEdge T320 server that was purchased with a software RAID controller in S100.  I just bought a PERC H710P controller and hoped to help on the installation.  Do I need anything else to install the card as a set of cables?  I have a 8 x 3.5 "hot swappable backplane already installed with a pair of cables SAS that connect to the motherboard.  What else do I need to do this work?  I'm also not sure where the PERC H710P controller must be installed?  I can't find pictures or drawings on the Internet.

    Thank you

    Joe

    Jpmigliozzi,

You should also order the cable (part # DJXF7) as well. This is the cable that connects the 710 in the bottom of the basket 8 x 3.5. Look at the picture below and let me know if those are the cables you already have.

    Let me know.

  • Change a failing drive - RAID Dell Poweredge H310 - RAID 1

    Hi guys,.

Thank you for everything that support you in these forums. I'm new here.

We have a Dell PowerEdge T320 server on my new place of work. It is Dell Poweredge H310 RAID controller on it. It is configured in RAID-1, with 2 discs.

Now my question is: in the event that one of the drives breaks down:

1 - I should insert the new drive into the slot where the failed disk has been inserted, or in the following location?

2 - will be the new drive automatically "copied" with the healthy disk data or it will need some work?

I read the manual and chapter 'Replacement year Online physical disk', says the following, but I don't know the answer to these questions:

    1. in the management of virtual disks window, select Virtual Disk # and press the arrow key down until the physical disks is highlighted.

    2. press arrow right key to expand the list of physical disks that are members of the virtual disk.

    3. press the down arrow and select the desired physical disk that you want to replace. Press to view the list of operations permitted on the disc.

    4. Select Replace and then start.

    5. tap on the down arrow to select a replacement disk and then press the SPACEBAR to select the disk.

    6. click OK to start the replacement.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Kind regards.

    Videoclocknet,

You must remove the failed disk and replace it with another similar drive on the same niche. When you choose the following location, be sure to follow the steps in the virtual disk management screen (VD) as you have indicated.

The failed drive will be replaced and the replacement drive will be one on the following location. Either way is perfectly fine. You can then monitor status of the VD and the reconstruction process using OpenManage Server Administrator (OMSA).

2 disks configured in RAID 1 act as a reflection of the other. Failure of 1 drive ensures that the same data are available on the other. When you replace the failed disk, the rebuilding process begins, and the same data gets automatically copied.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

  • ESXi and Dell Poweredge T410 install issues...

Hello, we just bought a spanking new beand Dell Poweredge T410 with S300 raid Card... useless day, Esxi 4.0 or 4.1 will not install on it... We get an error message during the installation:

"Could not find a data device to decompress the image for.

This server was prchased Feb 2011... can someone tell me how I can get installed on esxi?

The S300 controller isn't a device supported for ESXi. You must add a supported RAID controller. There are many other RAID controllers available for this server. The Perc 5 and 6 controllers are also good choices and are available on sites like e - bay, etc.

  • Install.VGZ fails in ESXi 4.1 install on a Dell Poweredge R710

I have a cluster of ESXi 4.1 six-host running on Dell Poweredge R710.  They start from a USB key connected to an internal USB port.  I did at least 12-20 installs on the same hardware without problem.

When I try to re - install on the single ISO ESXi 4.1 host via the iDRAC, the installation fails when loading install.vgz with the error message: "Booting: MBI = 0x000100c0, enter = 0x0040024a.

I studied the two codes and the only suggestion that I get, it's that my hardware is not supported (specifically that my 32-bit processor is not supported).  I do not have a 32-bit processor, so I know that I can surrender.  I downloaded the CPU VMware ISO (file:///C:/Users/pguarco/Downloads/VMware-CPU-Compatibility-e.x.p-160658.zip) compatibility, and my CPU meets all requirements.  Previous installation of ESXi host crashed for unknown reasons, where the re - install.  It is possible, that there is a hardware problem.  Any ideas on how to limit this problem?

you are doing the right thing. only thing I could thing is bad ISO, (Please make sure that the checksum is correct). and the worst case material PE firmware update.

  • Adding additional disk to ESXi 4.1 Datastore on Dell PowerEdge R710

    Greetings,

We currently have a Dell PowerEdge R710 with 6 SAS das drives configured in a RAID-1/RAID-5 configuration. A drive is configured as a global hot spare. I would add this spare drive in the RAID-5 table, where some virtual machines live, to recover additional space. Has someone managed to do this? Is the only way via the PERC BIOS management utility?

    Thank you!

I'm not part "raid-1/raid-5.  But assuming that the table is raid-5, then yes it is possible and yes the BIOS utility is necessary.  The hot spare is currently set should be removed from this role, then added to the existing Bay raid-5, but without the ability to select increase.  This will create free space on the raid-5 array on which then a new logical volume can be created, which will be then seen by ESX as a new drive and therefore another data store can be added to this (or it can be added to the first as a measure).  HTH

  • Dell PowerEdge 2900 RAID and drive down

I have a Dell PowerEdge 2900 server. The primary transmission table has three drives and RAID 5. The system came this way, and it has been humming for quite a long time. Recently, one of the disks has deteriorated and the light on the drive flashes green and light amber. The light amber, I figured, it means that there is a problem with the drive and must be replaced. Then, I found a replacement on Amazon.com drive and installed (the drive is hot, but my cold started to be sure). I installed the drive, but keeps flashing green and amber light.

I didn't know that I shouldn't have to replace the drive in this way, so I will now try to figure out what to do next. I hoped to reallocate the foreign disk so that I can use it, but my server always shows the reader, not having even if the new replacement drive is in the slot, now.

    I'm running PERC 5 / I integrated utility of Configuration Bios 1.04 - 019 a

I started the server and you press CTRL-R. I've highlighted the controller and press the F2 key, what is operations. When the operations window opens, there are three menu items:

    Create new VD
    Zero Config reset
    Foreign config

The only thing that I am allowed to do in this menu is to reset the configuration. I can't move my cursor upwards or downwards for one of the other choice of two menu.

Scroll when the virtual disk and he discovers, it still shows the first two discs and a lack.

When I press CTRL + N to display the next screen, I see a player listed as failed.

How can I rebuild my RAID with this new drive? If I can't do it, what is the best way to remove the RAID and start over? If I delete the RAID and do it again (and if my replacement drive is indeed well), how can I make sure that my server not to see it, not having so that I can start using it?

Alternating flashing green/orange means that the disc is in a status of predictive failure. What OS is running system? If you hotswap drive next failure they may possibly other issues table because the drive was online and participating in the table with errors on the disk. The adequate alternative method is to use our software Openmanage Server Administrator to run a consistency check on the table and then the drive offline. Once this has been done you can then swap the drive. It seems that in your case, that the new drive had bad data copied on it and it made a predictive failure as well. We want to do is run our hard drive diagnostics and test drives in the system.
