Dell Precision M6600 - two monitors

I have a laptop Dell Precision M6600.  I would like to connect up to two external monitors and do not use the laptop monitor (so the lid will be closed).  There is only a single VBA port at the back, so I can't connect two monitors to it directly.

I did research on the internet and find that it looks like this can be done by using a Port Replicator, but it seems that those who run more than $200, and I think I would have a hard time getting my company to approve that.  Is it possible that this can be done using a kind of dispatcher (VBA-> 2 x VGA Splitter, or using the HDMI port)?

I found some discussions about it on the internet, but some speak only to duplicate the single to multiple monitors output, which is not what I want.  Many of these items were laptop specific, so I don't know how that would apply to my specific model.  So I thought that the best place to ask would be the Dell support site.

Thank you

Hi JoeLBS,

Thanks for your question. DisplayPort is another standard to connect screens. Here's more about it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DisplayPort

A DisplayPort to VGA adapter will work for you that should a HDMI to VGA. Here is an example:

Would be happy to hear from you on the result of your choice.

  • Unpredictable behavior with Dell Ultrasharp U2415 two monitors

Since I created my two Dell U2415 monitor, I had sporadic problems with one or two of them are not recognized. I have a system Windows 10 T1700 Dell Precision with two monitors. This is the first time I've ever owned monitors that use Mini DisplayPort technology. The problems are:

    1. I would like to turn the monitor OFF the end of the day, because I don't like the brightness of the light emitted by the power buttons when not in service.  But it seems that turn off the monitors always brings problems when I return to the computer the next day. For example, if I turn off the monitors, the next time I turn everything back on, 1 single monitor is recognized. Sometimes, it's the one on the right, and sometimes it's the only one on the left. The other monitor has power, but no entry is recognized and it just says: "Entering Standby Mode" or something like that, and there is no display.  When this happens, there is no 2nd monitor when I go into the control panel display settings. It's as if the monitor is not plugged. I have to restart my PC again (this time, ensuring that both screens are turned on at the time where it restarts), who sometimes feel to come back on two monitors.

    2. on Monday, I'm alerted me to an update of the software Dell Display Manager, so I installed the update. At the end of the day, I've upgraded my PC sleep (leaving turned on monitor). When I came back in the morning, the PC wake acknowledging only 1 monitor. I had to go to the display settings for Windows 10 and extend to the 2nd monitor (why I am able to do it again)?

Why are these things so delicate?  Is there a specific order in which everything must be turned off and turn it back on so that both monitors will be recognized correctly? Should I wait until my PC is off to turn off the monitors? I turn on the PC BEFORE monitors (or vice versa)? I have to turn on the primary monitor BEFORE the secondary monitor (or vice versa)? There seems to be some magic to all this and I would like to understand exactly what is happening. I want to be able to turn off monitors whenever I like and feel confident that the two be recognized when I've turn them back on. At this point, I'm leaving the power to monitor all the time because of the many problems I had and because I simply do not trust them.

    Thank you

For the computer to identify a DP/CDM monitors, the monitors must be first, and then the computer graphic card reaches out to monitor DP/CDM opening handshake. Any changes to this order will disrupt the handshake. A computer hibernate or sleep modes tend to confuse the DP/CDM handshake. So I don't use them at all.

  • Dell Precision m6600 and Windows 10

Y at - there no confirmation of anyone who Windows 10 works on Precision Mobile Workstation M6600?

There is no drivers for Windows 8.1 and I never managed to make it work properly with Windows 8.1. VMWare Workstation would crash, blue screens, etc. This is because there is no drivers for this model of Dell for Windows 8.1 released.    But will it be the same story with Windows 10?

I can confirm that Windows 10 works on the M6600. I just upgraded my M6600 and Windows 10 in fact improved some drivers and improved my way of computer work.

From the moment I bought my Logitech H800 headset, I couldn't match directly with the laptop through Bluetooth. The USB receiver was still necessary. As soon as I have upgraded to Windows 10 my H800 has been recognized and immediately connected!

There are two small problems that scared me at first. WIFI or Bluetooth worked immediately after the upgrade to Windows 10. I don't know why this happened but I am simply gone network adapters and disabled, then reactivated each of them. After reactivated the WIFI started working with Bluetooth

  • Dell latitude and two monitors

Hi, I just bought a samsung syncmaster 245 b 24 "to have a work space more. The monitor works fine with my Dell Latitude D410 laptop, but the problem is that the display settings reset everytime I restart my computer. It is a pain because I have to reset everything whenever I turn on my computer...

Currently, I set my monitor to laptop as the extra and the 245ter as a primary monitor. If I restart, the monitors will reflect mutually and monitor of the laptop will be primary again. Is there a way solve this? I use ultramon, but it doesn't really seem to help.

  • If I want to use an external monitor of ranking on dell precision 5000 or Hp zbook (equipped both of usb3 and thunderbolt 3) this piece of harware would work with SG?

If I want to use an external monitor of ranking on dell precision 5000 or Hp zbook (equipped both of usb3 and thunderbolt 3) this piece of harware would work with SG? My monitor is a scientist of Flanders HDSDI LM-2460W. I know blackmagic has a few options but the last time I checked, he has not worked with SG. Anyone know?

I think Sg works more easily with an output of your video card... I run two monitors style DVI outputs, but he could use the HDMI connections too I think. The tab Setup (wrench) go you and activate a second monitor and... it's a unique method instead... use the lines where she asks location information to 'say' Sg where the upper-left pixel of your second monitor (program or viewing) is your monitor 'system '.

I had two 1920 x 1080 monitors, stacked vertically, OS/UI on the bottom, "programs" or reading on the upper monitor.

So, this upper-left pixel of my 2nd monitor is a negative number for 'up' and zero to indicate the two pixels top left "even".

It is-1080 for the "vertical" number... it's the height of my 2nd screen and it is negative, because it is above the main screen.

It is 0 for the horizontal number. Yes, they are stacked.

Now, if I had a monitor/program play to the left of my OS/UI screen, it would be...

    Vertical number 0, as relatively, they have the same 'height ';

Horizontal number of-1920, that reading is on the left.

Reading right... Vertical would be 0 and horizontal a positive number of 1920 (width of the primary monitor).

  • Dell XPS 8500 with 1 GB AMD Radeon HD 7570 - how to connect two monitors or?

Hi, I got my Dell XPS 8500 today with the 1 GB AMD Radeon HD 7570.

Before buying the office, I read online that the AMD Radeon HD 7570 supports Eyefinity.   Eyefinity is supposed to be capable of supporting 4 monitors using the HD 7570 map by the description here: http://www.amd.com/us/products/desktop/graphics/7000/7570/Pages/radeon-7570.aspx#2

When you look at the photos of the Dell XPS 8500 online I thought that Eyefinity support was to use a display in addition to the DVI port Port.   Specifically, I thought that a monitor has been supported by DVI monitors while 4 thru two supported using an active connection to the view port using a product like the DisplayPort Accell UltraAV K087B-005 / 3 x multi-monitor DVI - D single-link adapter.

To my surprise the graphics card came with an HDMI port, not a display port and I believe that HDMI port is a connection from one to the other, and not one of many display connection.   Maybe someone can correct me if I am wrong on this point.   But if I'm not wrong then, this would imply that, at most, the Dell XPS 8500 with the AMD Radeon HD card 7570 can support up to only 2 monitors (one DVI port) and the other HDMI port instead of 4 monitors as described on the above link.

Others would agree with this statement?

Note that the Dell XPS 8500 also has a VGA connector on it but I tested it using a monitor on VGA and a monitor on the DVI connection and the computer that reported as an invalid monitor config.   Probably because the VGA and DVI connections are originally the same video display as connect two monitors to display even has no logical sense.

I have not tested the HDMI port for the second monitor again mainly because I don't have a spare HDMI cable on site at the present time.   I'll probably buy one tomorrow unless I see the comments of my post, specifying that a second monitor can be moved through the HDMI port on the AMD Radeon HD 7570 map...   I'd be surprised if that were the case (1 monitor system would be quite restrictive), but it is difficult to say with certainty, because the VGA and DVI connections at the same time have been marked by the computer as an invalid configuration...

Any thoughts on the different ways to configure multiple monitors with the XPS 8500 and the 1 GB AMD Radeon HD 7500 is appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Doug

If the card is not a display port is not an eyefinity card and cannot stand 3 monitors... it will be 2 monitors, no problem... I couldn't find anywhere on the site of Dell, where he says that the card was eyefinity... If you want 3 assumption of monitors you can buy a video card that supports.

  • Video card GeForce GTX645 and two monitors Dell

Just place an order for a Dell XPS PC 8700 with a GeForce GTX645 video card. I'm trying to figure out how I'll be able to connect my two Dell monitors to the video card. My monitors are a Dell 2407WFP-HC 24 '' and a Dell IN2020M 20 ". I'm fairly certain that the 24 "monitor has a DVI - D connector, and I think (but I'm not sure) the 20" monitor also has DVI - D.

It appears by looking at the specs for the GeForce GTX645 there a port DVI - D and DVI - I port. If this is the case, how can I connect two monitors using DVI - D video card?

    -Larry

Yo is not an adapter to hook up 2 monitor DVI - D DVI - I and DVI - D + HDMI + [...] video card.

DVI - I mean it is a compatible port DVI - D AND you could plug an adapter DVI / VGA for use an old monitor (VGA d - Sub 15 pin)
    http://en.Wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Visual_Interface
    +

DVI - I simply means that the DVI connector has some extra pins (on the right, under the direction, my mistake) with the data (if necessary)

Can use something like this HERE, or HERE, but it would be better to put a map, where you will have a better choice of connectors. I that you intend to use the HDMI, then you will need a something similar to what I proposed to make it work.

This morning when I woke up, it was off, I let it run all the time so I knew that he was stopped again. I hit the power button, the power came a few seconds then turns off back. I tried several times with the same result. No beeps and I couldn't tell what were the diagnostic lights that you see in the video. I hit the power supply test button on the back and the LED is green indicating no power problem. I removed the RAM and just put 2 DIMM back in, tried a different video card. Removed the Firewire card. Removed the second CPU, swapped the second processor in place of the first. Reset the CMOS. I tried to unplug the hard drives, diskettes and optical. I monitor the temperatures of the last two days, inactive to 39 processors, but never greater than about 52C, the video card is idling to 36 c and will enter in the 1960s during the comparative analysis, but remains in the 1940s with regular use. Is it possible to run two monitors on a 8570w without a docking station. Connect a monitor to the VGA port and the other to display port.

I was able to get this to work. My 8570w has an Amd over-pants 7700, don't know if that matters. One is connected VGA other Displayport. The port monitor must have a custom resolution defined in the over-pants Control Panel. except that it works perfectly. More laptop screen no. Docking Station 2 24 inch Dell.

  • Use two monitors on Mac Mini end of 2012

    Hello

I am currently using only a single monitor (A Dell S2340M 23 "") with my Mac Mini end of 2012 (with these ports: Mac mini (end of 2012): external ports and connectors - Apple Support), and I am interested in adding a second monitor, something around the same size as my current. How to connect two monitors on my Mac? Thanks in advance.

The support for the Mac Mini shows article (end of 2012) and details which ports can do.

So you would probably need to get an adapter Thunderbolt using a second screen, seems.

See the items listed to connect to the Thunderbolt port in the link you posted. I have the same

link to my favorites for more than a year...

I have an i7 Mac Mini end of 2012, using only a screen Apple Cinema (aluminium).

Another option would also buy a bolt of lightning multiple port dock. Some allow others

products and ports in double. (Upward to 12 points, USB3.0, Thundebolt, etc) not cheap. A

A few screens can allow a Garland; Note looks like a bolt of lightning MiniDisplay port but can

not act like one. Adapters can allow minidisplay run Thunderbolt. See supported

Article and then see the page of the Apple store in graphics cards.

    http://eShop.MacSales.com/shop/Thunderbolt/

OWC has also an external optical drive with several ports integrated (with additional HARD disk).

    Good luck!

  • How to set up two monitors on Envy 700-210

    Greetings,

You want to set up two monitors on a stock like 700-210. A monitor will be a 27xi of HP with DVI and the other is a Dell with VGA.

    How it accomplishes this feat?

    Thank you!

    Hello

Please first try the following connection:

1 VGA monitor to the VGA port

    2. the other monitor to the DVI port

The video chip on your computer is not really good for both monitors. You may need to buy a better video card. Specifications:

  • Two monitors on a Pavilion a1730n?

I have an a1730n who began life running Vista. He is now running 8.1 update very happy and is used every day. He worked a HP using Nvidia monitor on board. Recently got a Dell monitor. Tried to run two monitors. Installed a Nvidia geforce in a PCI slot and plugged into the monitor. At the start, monitor and not seen a card. Main monitor restarted, changed in the PCI BIOS and the new card and monitor recognized and installed, however, old one was gone. A new bios modified for onboard as primary and old works, disappeared. Doesn't look like there are updates to the bios. Hope it works?

P.s., monitors market video outputs. The position of the monitor is not serious.

They must both be connected to the discrete video card, since you cannot use the integrated video port.  You will need to use an adapter (such as DVI/VGA) to connect the second monitor if they are all two VGA monitors.

Here's a guide that should help you connect two monitors.
