and downloaded the bar he spits. I then installed the sdk from here

http://developer.BlackBerry.com/native/download/

selected tab playbook of course and went in all installation process it

then installed the playbook Simulator in vmware using the link below the download link of the sdk

Now, I can't for the life of figure me out how to load the bar on the Simulator, I tried many things but had zero chance. I have the Simulator operational and all simply cannot get the application to load no matter what I try. A have a step by step on it, it would be greatly appreciated.

Nevermind discovered how after a bit more research wish I could delete this sorry

If you are connected to a VPN, it can cause connection problems to the Simulator.

Could you try reboot the Simulator in bridged mode?  You can change this under the network option in the settings of your virtual machine.  If you do not have to go through NAT, which could cause you problems, this will put the Simulator on your physical network card.

Also are you able to telnet/ftp to the Simulator?  You can identify yourself as devuser/devuser.

Why not just try? Which will give you an answer more reliable than to go really what anyone else. As I said, I thought the Simulator had previously worked with VirtualBox, but I am not certain about it.

The application works on the new 2.0 PlayBook Simulator very well, but when I go to install on the current device, it installs, but will not start.

I tried without success (all these I tried both USB and WiFi connection) the following:

    • Restart the PlayBook after the 2.0 update (several times)
    • Signature of the bar and the deployment using command-line tools
    • Do not sign the bar and deployment via command line tools (after configuring Debug token)
    • Deployment by using the new eclipse plugin - is to expire, I have even increased the time-out value of 60 seconds and much more), it gets stuck on "Launch BlackBerry Android Runtime."... ", then a message that says" failed to connect ├a 192.168.1.139 to BAD! »

  • How can I reduce the size of the .bar file created by QT to Blackberry Playbook?

I am doing an application UI for Blackberry Playbook, and that's why try to use QT Creator. But then I have create and deploy a new project: Blackberry Qt Gui Application with only two field (a Text Edit field and another field of push button), the .bar file installed in my playbook is too large (about 80 MB).

The problem is, it's taking too long to deploy. Although I am new to this platform, I can't solve this problem. Someone can give me a solution, how can I reduce this large size?

  • Configure the playbook Simulator

    Hello

I just downloaded the playbook Simulator and I see it's a vmx file. I have to pay for a license of VMWare?

    Thank you.

    JB

You'll need VMWare Fusion on Mac. It requires the license.
VMWare Player is free for a personal use but Windows only.

  • PlayBook Simulator included in the SDK WebWorks for Mac does not start

Hi, I downloaded and installed the WebWorks BlackBerry SDK for Tablet OS for Mac from http://us.blackberry.com/developers/tablet/webworks.jsp . I have VMWare Fusion installed 3.1.2. I used the beta3 .iso Installer to create a virtual machine, and it worked very well. Open the bbwp/blackberry-tablet-sdk/BlackBerryPlayBookSimulator-1.0.1/BlackBerryPlayBookSimulator.vmx file load VMWare Fusion and adds a virtual machine named "BlackBerry PlayBook Simulator" in my VM library. When I try to 'turned on' virtual machine, nothing happens. The power seems to be on for two seconds and turns off the virtual machine. I can't find all the lines from log in Console.app. the 'Virtual Machine'-> 'Force Start Up' menu is no help either. I download the stand-alone "BlackBerry PlayBook Simulator for Mac", that is also marked v1.0.1 but I am not optimistic if it is delivered as a set of folders VMware. Please do not make me run the PlayBook Simulator in a virtual Windows XP machine!

    Hi jaschroe,

Try to manually copy the folder BlackBerryPlayBookSimulator - 1.0.1 to another location on your Mac and then try to open this copy of the VMX file in VMware Fusion. (No need to re - install).

  • Sencha Touch not displaying icons only not the Playbook Simulator

I see this weird problem. I wrote a simple Webworks app using Sencha Touch. It works fine on the desktop browser. However, on the Playbook Simulator, I see a few flaws. For example the standard icons not displayed. See the pictures attached to the difference:

    On the Playbook Simulator:

    On the desktop browser:

I know that's not a consolation, but when I tried the latest version of PlayBook on the physical hardware toolbar buttons work fine.

I ran through the example of the kitchen sink and everything is made perfect!

So know that your problem will be solved in the official v1.0 RTM software version and Simulator.

  • PlayBook Simulator not able to access the internet

    Hello

I'm trying to get the Playbook Simulator running to repackage an app, but I'm unable to get the Simulator to connect to the internet.  The browser refuses to connect and just displays a message indicating:

    Error
    A network error has occurred.
    Please try again later.

I tried some things, like change network card settings in VMware default (NAT) to Bridged and then restarting the virtual machine, but that did nothing. I tried to remove the virtual computer's network card, and then by adding a new.  I disabled the Norton Internet Security firewall and intrusion prevention.  I have disabled the Windows Firewall.  None of this solves the problem.

I use a Windows 7 laptop connected to a wireless network.  No VPN or proxy is in use.  Windows 7 network adapters screen shows two cards VMware, vmnet1 and vmnet8, both connected to an 'unidentified network'.  I tried to fill these my PC wireless cards, but the VMware adapter did not allow that and threw an error.

    Any suggestions?

Some basics: Verify there is an IP address on vmnet8. Verify that you can ping your host operating system.

If it still does not work, cut the developer mode (on-> them security), then try again the browser. Yes, I know it sounds counterintuitive, but it worked for me.

You can re - switch to developer mode, once you have turned it off and it seems fine. You don't quite know why this is happening, but it might be useful to take a VM snapshot once you've cracked.

    Good luck!

  • How buggy is the Playbook Simulator?

It seems most of the things I write are causing problems with the Playbook Simulator.

I tend to write most of the content of the page HTML from JQuery

The simplest things can cause the Simulator to die

    An example...

If (Debug) $("#debuglog").append ("attempt to display " "+ sp +")
    ");

Here, I'm just writing for a div called debuglog so I can see what is happening - sp is a page that I just shot locally via Ajax - must write errors, it's the only way to debug a page.

Answer to myself for the benefit of third parties

Buried in the forums, you will find a thread on the Playbook having problems with JQuery 1.5.1

The solution is simple - downgrade to 1.5.0 or 1.5.2 upgrade when it comes out

It took me a week to find out what was wrong. All my applications now work simply by changing to 1.5.0

While the browsers work very well with 1.5.1 the Playbook Simulator is not

I hope this helps those of you who are also frustrated that I was

  • Network in the blackberry playbook Simulator error

    Hello

I installed all the tools of development needed for the Blackberry playbook.

I use Adobe Flash Builder 4 to develop applications.

I installed playbook Simulator version 0.9.3 in Vmware player 3.1.2

The browser in the Simulator can't load pages. Every time I try, I get a message

    Error:

    A network error has occurred

    Please try again later.

I updated the network settings on the card in the reader of the VM NAT.

Should I do all the network settings to browse web pages?

    Looking forward for your help.

You are on a virtual private network? If so make sure you get off it.

Are you on Windows or Mac?

You can try instead of NAT network bridge and see if VMWare gets you an IP as your host computer, which should have access to the internet.

  • deploy the application on the Simulator console

    Hello

I want to deploy my application on the BB Simulator without going through Eclipse. In more detail:

-from the emulator in debug mode (with the correct settings)

-deploy the application in the emulator

-redirect all output to the console for debugging.

Could someone illustrate how to perform this procedure in my console windows?

    Thank you

You can deploy an application for the BlackBerry Smartphone Simulator by copying the file of cod to the directory of the Simulator.  The Simulator does not support redirection of its debug output to an arbitrary location, however you can use the tool, JDWP included with JDE BlackBerry and BlackBerry JDE component Package to view this output outside Eclipse or the JDE.

Download the BlackBerry JDE or BlackBerry JDE component Package

I have already answered something for PlayBook in the other thread you ask before. Everything you need is in your console output where he says:

[echo] This tool will not open the simulator for you

This means that you must start the trainer before you run the command line script to create and deploy. You will also need to implement all the things for PlayBook in the file 'project.properties' to get startet.

The FileNotFoundException thrown when you run the command line, it seems to face a problem with your application. Can you tell us what is in your PlayBook.xml file at line 88 and in build.xml line 50 to debug little bit more.

  • C++ on Playbook Simulator programs?

    Hello world!

However, simple apps using Adobe Flash Builder 4.5 on Playbook Simulator ran successfully, now I am interesting in more complicated things that save and run native C++ programs on Playbook Simulator. This folder should I place my apps and that set up the operations that I do to see my apps on the main screen of the Simulator? How can I get the root privileges to set libs (installation), requiring the my apps?

You can't get root access, and you don't need either.

Native applications are developed using the native SDK (NDK) which is currently in closed beta. It should soon be to achieve an open beta, or a published form, how he must have all the tools you need to allow you to build your apps, package and deploy them in the Simulator or a real tablet.

Note that native apps are "not different" since an AIR application in the sense that they install .bar files and are limited in the same way. For example, they run in the same kind of app 'sandbox', preventing (if AIR, WebWorks or native) apps to access the files on the other, and so on.
