  I updated Firefox to v. 10.0. Since then, my Norton toolbar is disabled. I relays on Norton Identity Safe to browse the web and protect my password. Now, unless I can get it working again, I stop using Firefox and come back to "the other browser. I updated Norton repeatedly. I spent 3 hours with the help of Norton a couple of days only to find out that there is no solution for Firefox 10.0. This must be corrected via Firefox, unless there is a solution that we are not aware of. Do you know of any?

  It is not a Windows problem.  It is a problem with your monitor.

  Your screen has a maximum resolution... maybe note 1280 x 960 with a 60 Hz refresh.  When you start mode without fail, the resolution of the video card is forced into a mode that will support virtually any monitor (640 x 480)?.  This is done to allow recovery in case you accidentally set your screen resolution to something that is not supported and you end up with a white screen.  When your monitor detects this less-than-optimal resolution from your computer, he takes it upon himself to post a notice on the screen informing you that you will get a better screen if you adjust the display resolution on your computer to match your monitor.  Maybe it's not possible in Mode without failure, then look at your manual of the monitor and the settings to see if there is a way to disable the warning message.

  I have a PC running XP Pro SP3 spare of second hand. I need to take via Safe Mode, but the Admin account will accept not empty and all the other possible passwords are not known, as I did not put everything.

  How to get the stored password (?) and how it is adjustable back empty, as it should.

  My Admin user account does not have a password, so initialize by normal means is not a problem.

  Due to the amount of data on this pc I don't want to reinstall, and as I do not have the original CD, I can't do a repair.

• long time to open programs & executed safe start not

  We have a laptop Dell Studio 1555 with windows vista for about 2 years now.
  Lately, he has taken a lot of time to connect and not all programs opens.
  He got about 5 times the BSOD with error F4 and when I boot in safe mode, it gets stuck on the cycdisk.sys.
  I looked on other forums and they said that it could be a virus but I have Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 and did a scan a few days before it all started, and no viruses were found.
  Also I tried to do a system restore, but he said that there is no system restore point.
  I don't really want to reload Vista back on it, because I have pictures on the PC I want to keep.

  3. A uac prompt should appear select ok
  4. in the command line type Echo Y | chkdsk C: /f
  5. Hit enter and restart the pc, the chkdsk should run at startup

  It's an idea to run a chkdsk whenever windows is shut down inproperly.

  Uninstall unnecessary programs

  over the years a bunch of useless stuff to install on our PC, many programs start with windows and can slow down the pc.  Remove them using Add Remove programs in Control Panel.

  A word about antivirus software:

  you have no antivirus software to protect your computer, but you want a single running antivirus software.  make sure that this is the case on your pc.  You say that you have installed a Kasperky.  You must make sure that windows defender is stopped. Also, make sure you don't have other antivirus installed or running.  If kasperky features of a firewall firewall windows must be turned off as well.

  If the application works in Safe Mode, then you can assume that the problem is not with the application, but with the operating system, drivers of devices or other applications that load at startup that are in conflict with the application.

  I suggest you try to install the updates to the clean boot. Clean boot helps eliminate conflicts of software that occur when you install a program or an update or when you run a program in Windows.
