DeskJet 5940 - incompatible ink cartridge

All of a sudden my Deskjet 5940 says that I have a cartridge incompatible color in it.  I use a genuine HP 95 Tri Color that is rated cartridge.  It is in the printer for three months and works well.  All of a sudden it will not work and will not let me us the printer mode "black ink only".

Using Windows XP (Yes, I know, not my choice - a work computer).

I searched the database of RESUMES and can not find all the elements to help me here.  Any ideas?

If you remove the color cartridge the printer should automatically switch ink backup mode.

Regarding the color cartridge, clean the contacts of the cartridge as described in this document (under the section for "cartridge blinking") can solve the problem.

    Why not?  (FYI: use in the future something significant, 'cute', if you want to get answers)

    Some manufacturers have a chip in the cartridge that tells the printer that it is empty, for example the date "use before", even if there is ink left. I know specifically that this is the case with your printer, but it can be. Fill the chipped cartridges requires the reset chip. If it has been damaged it could produce volatile results.

    My printer has suddenly stopped working, of course, comes "incompatible cartridge". For the next two weeks, I tried everything I know and everything that I could find (even the Forum Support HP's. I received a response from you, but it was a response to a problem that I didn't ask) now I'm in the never never land. This is the third set of cartridges that I have tried.     I see that you have a problem with incompatible ink cartridges.

    Please click on the link following which treats a 'cartridge problem', "Incompatible cartridge" or "Cartridge missing or corrupted" Message is displayed on the computer or the printer control panel.

    I've just set up my new printer, but the light of attention and two ink cartridge lights continue to Flash.  I can't figure out how to remove the cartridges, so I try to reinstall them.  I did exactly what the instructions said to do, but obviously done something wrong.  Help, please...   • HP deskjet 2544: HP deskjet 2544 incompatible ink/flashing lights ink intermittently

    Despite the change of new cartridges, through aid and all operations includes the cleaning heads, cartridges with distilled water, coffee filters, the printer is still incompatible Advisor ink and the ink is not save.  I used the scan doctor and the State of the device is the only thing that does not pass.  I have flashing lights of ink intermittently and it still does not print.

    Your and the HP solutions did not work. Here's what I did: I have one installed my printer.  Return of the ink cartridges and received replacement cartridges.  Cartridges of entry.  align etc... Reinstalled my printer.  Everything works now.  My belief is that the cartridges were defective.

    No, the configuration cartridges are only for the initial Setup.  "Installing CONFIGURATION cartridges after the initialization of the product causes an error."

    Cartrdiges Setup are not available through normal retail channels since they are supplied with printers.  I don't know the history of the pieces you bought on ebay, but unfortunately they are not suitable for your printer.

  • Photosmart c4272 incompatible ink cartridge

    Replace ink cartridges recently (cartridge 350xl & 351 cartridge) and having been able to print about 50 pages, turn off the printer and back then a few days later and turning printer back on toprint more than articles, I now have a message on the printer and the laptop saying that the ink cartridges are incompatible. How can I rectify this?

    In the end, I decided to try the various hp ink cartridges and see if they worked. Turns out the color ink cartridge has been thewine decided that the printer was not compatible suddenly even if it was a genuine hp cartridge. The printer now works correctly.

  • DeskJet 6840 - replacement ink cartridge

    I can't replace the ink cartridge in the printer.  There is a vertical black plastic plate that prevents the cartridges from sliding forward.  This plastic plate has a sticker that has two images of what appears to be a start button - the one with an arrow pointing to it and the other with lines around her (indicating that it is switched on?).

    The diagrams in the instructions of ink cartridge do not show this plastic plate.  Can someone tell me how to get the old cartridges, if I can put the new cartridges?

    It seems that the Servicestaton block cartridges. Normally this should move the traffic when you open the door to changing cartridge. Here's the catches which sometimes most people forget, the unit needs to be started, if the device is not placed on the servicestation will remain in place and cartridges is not possible. I would like to know if that was the problem.

    I replaced a cartridge of ink three colors and recharge them the new black cartridge 75; after they are put in the printer, the incompatible cartridge message appears on the screen, I followed the instructions on youtube andgot to work. However whenever a printing will be done, I have to repeat the process for the printer to print again.

    Student thanks to honor jdm; I called the dealer who has filled the cartridge and he told me it was probably damage, perhaps because it has been used after the printer showed the message "low ink".

    I had without trouble for about 5 years, up to what this problem occurred recently in the blue.  I installed a new cartridge color #97 about 2 months ago and it worked fine for a few weeks until one day, he decided that I had an Incompatible cartridge.  I found info on the HP support pages and followed all these instructions.  The first time, I just pulled out of the cartridge & put again & it worked for a few prints then stopped.  So I did the cleaning with water distilled with great care.  He printed a test page, but then began to light flashing and same error message.  I took out the color cartridge to print everything in shades of gray and no ink comes out on paper. When I click on the printer, open the staus it says "finished printing" (or somethig to this effect).  IM using a mac mini & don't have not updated my OSX yet ~ 10.5.

    Can I return the cartridge to the store 2 months, but there is still a lot of ink insde.  Y at - it patches others? I'm really not more money for another cartridge flat and have this happen.  ISIT the time of a new printer?

    HI - you have definitely found the right document.  A couple of other things I recommend trying that I do not believe that the document covers.  First of all, off the printer with the power disconnected at the back of the printer, I would like to clean the contacts in the printer carriage.  Looks like the doc made reference to just clean the contacts of the cartridge.  I would also clean the cartridge contacts and transport black if you have not already.  If this does not resolve the problem, I highly recommend the back of the cartridge and try again.  If this does not resolve the problem, it's probably time for a new printer or get it repaired.

    I cleaned the cartridge yellow as indicated in the message. Everything is given carefully and completely. It turned on and everything works... the error is still there... new black cartridge installed.

    How to work around this message so I can print?
