  • DevCon unrecognized

I recently installed devcon.exe in the following folder: C:\Windows\System32 and it works fine for me when using the command prompt (cmd.exe). However, when I try to use it with labview through the 'Exec.vi system', I get the following error:

"devcon" is not recognized as an internal or external command
    operable program or batch file.

It seems impossible to find the devcon.exe by Labview. I tried to locate the devcon.exe in the same folder as the VI that was underway but nothing helped. I enclose the code. Any help appreciated.

Problem solved. The working directory should be left blank and it works then.

  • DevCon unable to enable/disable devices in windows 7

My initial problem is that at the start, the my device is activated by non-functional. If I disable then enable it in Device Manager, it works again. My camera's USB RF remote (remote control, Firefly). I am running Windows 7 (x 64) Home Premium with an i5 processor.

To work around the original problem, I want to run a script using devcon. After getting the correct version of the latest Windows DDK devcon.exe, I can query the device but I can't turn it. I tried a lot of things, but I must be missing something with the use of devcon. Here is the output of devcon...

Does anyone know why devcon does not work? Or do you know another way to toggle the Device Manager devices?

  • Pavilion DV4-1199es problem with sound

    Hello

I have a Pavilion DV4-1199es, I did a downgrade to Windows XP, and I did it works ok, but when restart the laptop, the sound does not work.

If I install MS patch KB888111xpsp2 or KB835221 immediately again works the sound, but when restart works again.

    Someone knows how to solve?

    Thank you

    Founded by Mariza solution:

If you found that the sound was not working after reboot, follow the steps below

    1. download the devcon command-line utility, here

    2. extract and copy the file to c:\windows\devcon\i386\devcon.exe

    3. do the command line to restart MS - UAA automatically or just download this file

    Command line: C:\windows\devcon\i386\devcon.exe restart 'PCI\VEN_8086 & DEV_293E & SUBSYS_3607103C & REV_03 '.

    Notes:

    1. the location of devcon.exe is c:\windows\devcon\i386\devcon.exe that if change you it, you must change idt.bat

    2. "PCI\VEN_8086 & DEV_293E & SUBSYS_3607103C & REV_03' are for MS - UAA hardware ID, if you found in another name change it.

    3. place idt.bat in c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Menu Menu\Programs\Startup

    4. the sound will restore within 6 to 10 seconds, because is NOT startup sound XP

  • HP wireless keyboard from 2.4 GHz on the HP Pavilion Elite 083 Volume controls does not not in Windows 8

I have a HP 2.4 GHz wireless keyboard on a desktop HP Pavilion Elite 083 UK:

    Model KG-08510 rev 1.1

    Product #ABU KZ256AA number

    Part number 505143-031

.. Since the upgrade to Windows 8 Pro to Windows 7 Home Premium, I have problems with getting control of Volume +, - and disable keys on the keyboard to work reliably in Windows 8 Pro.

In summary, the symptom is that when I start the PC from a start-up to cold which is a full power down of the State of the volume on the keyboard controls do not work.

However, if I unplug and re - plug the USB wireless receiver that came the keyboard on the PC then on the keyboard volume controls begin to work again.

I tried the following things to try to solve this problem:

-Made a lot of new installation of Windows 8 i.e. reformatting the hard drive (no recovery) and fresh install Windows 8 on a blank hard drive.

-Installation of Microsoft Windows all the updates available for the machine.

-Manually install drivers wireless keyboard on the site of HP driver for my computer HP Pavilion Elite 083uk (this allows the screen display on to CapsLock and numlock which works reliably every time that I start).

-Disable 'fast start up' in Windows 8 power settings

-Using different USB ports on the back of the machine

This question is re-producable each time and the keyboard volume buttons work fine even from boot cold when I was running Windows 7.

I think that I have now found a solution / workaround to solve this case no matter who is interested.

    1. download and install the Microsoft "DevCon" tool that provides an interface to command line for Device Manager.

Download and installation instructions are here:

    http://social.technet.Microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/182.how-to-obtain-the-current-version-of-device-console-utility-DevCon-exe.aspx

    2. create a Windows scheduled task with "highest privileges" that works on logon that issues the following command:

    DevCon restart 'HID\VID_03F0 & PID_0862 & REV_0105 & MI_01 & Col02'

This restarts "HID-compliant consumer control device" that is listed in my device manager which is middle for the proper functioning of the volume control and mute buttons on the keyboard (keyboard functionality is via a separate driver which is not affected).

NB. you need to replace ""HID\VID_03F0 & PID_0862 & REV_0105 & MI_01 & Col02"with whatever hardware ID is listed in the device for that Manager.»

    3. If the above does not work, then you must create a scheduled task to run a batch file with the following:

    DevCon disable 'HID\VID_03F0 & PID_0862 & REV_0105 & MI_01 & Col02'

    DevCon enable 'HID\VID_03F0 & PID_0862 & REV_0105 & MI_01 & Col02'

    Regars

Use of the vi in the zip file.

  • Uninstall the Microsoft IPMI driver (IPMIdrv.sys) on Server 2008 R2

    Hello
Several sources mention that the driver IPMI from Microsoft and Intel IPMI driver should not be loaded at the same time. If the two drivers are installed, the resource contention problems cause unreliable operation.
I want to use the Intel driver and tried to uninstall the Microsoft IPMI driver (IPMIdrv.sys), but all my efforts have failed so far.
Obvious way seems to be to start device, go to "System devices" Manager, "Microsoft generic compatible peripheral IPMI" right-click, select Properties, and on the driver tab, click on "Uninstall". When I do that, I don't get an error message, but when the reboot of the machine, "Microsoft generic compatible peripheral IPMI" reappears.
I've also tried using DevCon.exe, but I got the same result as before. I also tried a few 'dirty' things, but they don't work as well.
I am aware that I can choose to stop (disable through Device Manager) the Microsoft IPMI driver, but I really wish to uninstall completely (the evidence being IPMIdrv.sys should not appear when driverquery command is executed).
Also, I can see in the Device Manager, Microsoft Generic IPMI compatible device properties -> resources -> list of the conflicting devices:
    Range of input/output, CA 0, 2 - 0CA 2 used by:
    Motherboard resources
    Range of input/output, CA 0, 3 - 0CA 3 used by:
    Motherboard resources
    Does have a meaning?
Intel has published a document entitled the IPMI driver conflicts resolution in Windows Server 2003 R2, but as its name suggests, it is intended to Server 2003 R2, and the mentioned techniques do not work for Server 2008 R2.
The pointers will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you

  • Map of appeals on deleted RAS - cannot install

My English is not good - and maybe I won't be able to clarify this medication in this issue.

    Windows XP / Lenovo laptop
He had problems with VPN to the corporate network.
To fix this, all NICs have been uninstalled including all the "WAN Miniport".
It was first used regedit to remove all keys in HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\ {4D36E972-E325...})
And that it was possible to delete all devices in Device Manager/network adapters (Show hidden devices)
That all device drivers have been installed at new includding hidden WAN Miniports (Miniport network EXTENDED (IP), WAN Miniport (PPTP), etc.).
And after ethernet and wireless in this laptop adapters, this drug is good with the VPN and conectivity

But there is a 3G modem and it is not possible now to make a mobile connection to the local GSM operator. I compared the configuration with another XP machine and I see it, there is not a "RAS async card" in Device Manager ECS (Show hidden devices) - I missed to install when I recovered the devices it

And now I am trying to install this "Asynchronous RAS card" without success.
    I tried with
    .. > devcon.exe install c:\windows\system32\netrasa.inf SW\ {eeab7790-c514-11d1-b42b-00805fc1270e}
and 'RAS asynchronous card' has been raised in
Device Manager/network adapters (Show hidden devices)
but it is with a yellow circle with black exclamation point.

All my efforts to fix this yellow exclamation point failed.

    What Miss me?
Is there some kind of standard (unknown to me) to fix?

    ---------------------------------
I did a test XP machine and I found the answer. It took me six hours, so I will describe to you to gain time to other people with the same "problem".

It was a totally false action to try manually add "card Asynchronous RAS." On the test computer, I see the default Win XP adds this card after the first attempt of outgoing calls. You can add modems, dial-out connections, but there is no 'Card Asynchronous RAS' in Device Manager/Network Adapters (Show hidden devices). This adapter there arises after the first real attenpt to dial-out.

So, on the cell phone issue, I deleted all modems, dial-out connections and also removed the "RAS async adapter" with exclamation point and yellow circle.
I then added a simple standard modem and a simple dial-out connection. And after the first attempt of outgoing calls, the "RAS async adapter" arises without yellow exclamation point.

I wand to greater access to a standard user to enable or disable devices in Device Manager also start stop service permission.

You must do this through an agent as follows: create a scheduled task that is running under the account system once every five minutes. If the task detects a semaphore file (which is created by the standard user), and then it run devcon.exe (to toggle a device) or sc.exe (to start/stop a service). To do this successfully requires skills in scripting.

  • With WAN Miniport problem when you configure the VPN in Windows 7 server

I tried to make my computer a VPN server by establishing a "new incoming connection" under connections in the network and sharing Center. Originally, she she started but showed no WAN Miniport connections. I could not connect to this VPN with my other computer.

    What I've done so far:

    • I have 'upgrade' all WAN Miniports in 'MAC Bridge miniport driver' Device Manager (since I couldn't uninstall them as they were) and then uninstall all WAN miniports. I restarted my computer and then I tried the device drivers to install automatically, but only a few installed successfully.
    • Then, I downloaded the latest WDK (8.1) and tried to reinstall all Miniports WAN via devcon.exe with the command "devcon.exe install c:\windows\inf\netrasa.inf MS_PptpMiniport. He says that the node has been created, but it could not install the drivers. I restarted my computer, but some of these minis ports appeared as 'Unknown' in Device Manager, while others appeared with their names but with numbers attached because I tried a few times, Ex: "Miniport network EXTENDED (IP) #3".»

from my understanding, I need at least WAN Miniport pptp to work for VPN to work. I don't know what to do at this point. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  • TAP-Windows Driver installs

Recently, I have set up a VPN with OpenVPN to my house to increase my safety, but I get an error that prevents me to connect to the server that works correctly. The only problem (I think), when installing, I get an error that says something similar to:

The TAP-Windows driver installation error. Even when I run the installer as administrator, it fails. In the installer, the explanation of this is "devcon.exe failed. I can try to implement an OpenVPN server, but I believe devcon and TAP are developed by Microsoft. The server and client are running Windows 7 Professional.

I installed OpenVPN on another computer I own without problem, but I need to work on my computer.  In addition, if this is in the wrong section, please forgive me.

    Help is greatly appreciated.
