Device = BlackBerry software? Blackberry JDE version?

Hey there everyone, I'm rather new in java programming on blackberry, and I feel like there is a mistake of very basic communication between me and my program.

I am writing a small program to my blackberry a short work for me, but I don't know if it'll work on my older curve blackberry.

I use Netbeans 6.8 and added the Blackberry JDE 6.0.0 as a custom Java ME platform.  So my question is:

How can I make sure that the classes and methods of the JDE 6.0.0 will work on my long-since-updated Blackberry 8330 m, which has a software system 4.5.0.186 (Platform 3.2.0.59).  Is there something in the classes and methods that would make me look out?  I should rather check all my imports and the method calls against http://www.blackberry.com/developers/docs/4.5.0api/index.html ?

Indeed, how can ensure me that I can use with BB, which are even older?

the JDE version must be equal to or lower than the version of the BB OS. If for example on a device running 4.5.0, you can use 4.5.0, JDE 4.3.0 4.2.1 etc., descendant of the version of the device

  • BlackBerry OS Smartphones Blackberry Bold 9900 software update from version 7.0.0 to version 7.1.0

    HELO everyone

    I tried to upgrade my device software Blackberry Bold 9900 version 7.0.0 to version 7.1.0 but with difficulties. I tried to use the Blackberry Desktop Manager, but there was no version 7.1.0 figure among the available updates. Even when I tried to do it directly through the official website of Blackberry, also Version 7.1.0 was not shown. Finally, I tried to do the update with my phone directly by going to: Options > device > software updates.

    It shows my Version 7.0.0 Bundle 2406 current and available in a version 7.1.0 Bundle 1149. But when I clicked Perform Update to download the new version, he has shown preparing to download but then displays an error message such as "Download cannot continue because your device cannot connect to the update server using the following methods: Wi - Fi.

    During this time, I did not upgrade with a Wi - Fi connection because I have an active blackberry data subscription of 2 GB of my mobile operator.

    Please I need help on how to perform the upgrade from version 7.0.0 to version 7.1.0 with the last packet.

    Thanks to you all I'm waiting for your helpful solution.

    Hello and welcome to the community!

    The easiest way is, on a PC (you can not do on MAC):

    (1) make sure that you have a current backup and your BB complete... you can find the instructions at the link in my auto-sig below.

    2) uninstall all the BB OS packages from your PC,

    (3) make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed

    (4) download and install on your computer, the BB OS package you want:

    • http://us.BlackBerry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
    • If all you want are the levels of BONE, it is first sorted by carrier - the carrier supports, your search will be fast. However, some carriers are much slower than others to release updates. To really get the package up-to-date OS for your BB, you need to dig through and find all businesses that support your specific model BB and then compare the BONE levels they support.

    5) remove all copies of the SELLER on your PC. XML... There will be at least one and maybe 2, and they will be located in the same way or to (it changes based on your version of Windows) these files:

    • C:\Program Files (x 86) \Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    • C:\Users\(your Windows username) \AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML

    6 (a) to change your level of BB OS installed (at level or lower), you can run the Desktop software and connect your BB... the software should offer the operating system package you have installed on your PC.

    6 (b) or, for recharging your BB OS level installed as well to change, work around the Desktop software and use the CHARGER. EXE directly, through step 2 in this process:

    If, during the process of 6a or 6 b, your BB has an error '507', simply unplug the USB of the BB cord and reinsert it. do nothing else... This should allow the installation to continue.

    If you are on a MAC, you are limited to only your sanctioned carriers OS packages... but can still use any level they currently have to sanction. See this procedure:

    Hello world!  Whenever I add/remove apps from my BB8310 using Desktop Manager ver4.7 He also wants to update the ver4.5.0 OS device that is already installed on my phone.  When firstly, he asks me if I want to upgrade to ver4.5.0 I say NO, but he's okay, he'll again throughout the process.  Am I doing something wrong or what?  Thanks for any help!

    For device software 4.5 there is minor as updates: 4.5.0.54, 4.5.0.76 etc.

    And seems that Desktop Manager wants to upgrade your device to the next minor version software.

    If you don't want to do this - turn off automatic updating in the Office Manager.

  • BlackBerry OS Version availability of the PhoneListener and the IPA PhoneLog

    My company has just heard of available developer program the API object are currently available in the Blackberry operating system / JDE / API for application, we would like to develop and online documentation indicates that they have been available since V operating system 4.0.0 / JDE / API. I am writing to verify that this is indeed the case that these APIs is available in other than V 5.0.0 and upward, the latest version of the software.

    I just want to check that these APIs is available, for example for all versions of OS and all versions of device Blackberry, without restriction, since V4.0.0, such that implies the message that I received from the developer program (one RIM named Mike Kirkup) over the weekend.

    For example, I think that we develop in the Office of a device Blackberry Curve running V4.3 or V4.4 OS; are these these APIs (PhoneListener and PhoneLog) available for this device and this version of the operating system?  Of course, we will expand the OS and devices supported for our application, but we must start somewhere and hoped someone could verify exactly what OS / SDE / versions of the API have these APIs specific to them, and if there are restrictions on device for them.

    Thanks in advance for your help.

    Bill Mertka

    Hello and welcome.

    If you heard of Mike Kirkup, you can believe it.  He is a good guy.

    And if, as you have seen, the docs say

    "Since x.x.x JDE.

    or

    "Since the BlackBerry API x.x.x"

    x.x.x then identifies the level that the feature was introduced.

    Moreover, there is no OS 4.4 and the 8300 curves initially provided with 4.2.2 and can be upgraded to 4.5, which later are equipped as standard.

    As a simple rule, all screen color BlackBerry devices are or can be upgraded 4.0 or higher.  All trackball devices have 4.2 or higher.  Thus, any application that is running with 4.0 can run on almost any device that's out there.  I say any device out there, but I'm sure someone will say they know of a very old BB always in service...

  • 10 blackBerry OS Version number

    BB link says that my Q5 running the latest version of the 10.2.1.3422 software. However, my Q5 indicates the version of the software used is 10.2.1.3062.

    How can I tell who is right?

    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

    Thank you! : )

    Hi veedub,.

    Link to blackBerry and the BlackBerry smartphone will show you the version OS device as well as the SR version. These versions may appear differently, but come in pairs (which is expected).

    In connection of BlackBerry, this version information is available on the main screen when your device is connected. On the BlackBerry smartphone, you can display OS/SR versions by going to settings > about and select 'OS' in the list menu drop-down category.

    Your device is running OS 10.2.1.3442, which has a version associated with SR 10.2.1.3062 (you can check it out on your device). It is the version matching for the software currently loaded on your device. Your device and the BlackBerry link display the correct version and the software, so an update should not be necessary.

    I hope this explanation helps!

    Get the response code is open the connection,

    Send the request and read HTTP response headers.

    The headers are stored until asked.

    RC = c.getResponseCode ();

    System.out.println ("response from the server" + rc);

    if (rc! = HttpsConnection.HTTP_OK) {

    throw new IOException ("HTTP response code:" + rc);

    }

    is = c.openInputStream ();

    Get the ContentType

    The string of type = c.getType ();

    The length and process data

    int len = (int) c.getLength ();

    if (len > 0) {

    int actual = 0;

    int BytesRead = 0;

    byte data = new byte[len]; while ((bytesread! = len) & (real! = - 1)) {

    real = is.read (data, bytesread, len - bytesread);

    bytesRead += real;

    }

    } else {}

    int ch;

    while ((ch = is.read (())! = - 1). {

    }

    }

    } catch (ClassCastException e) { throw new IllegalArgumentException ("not a HTTP URL");}

    }

    catch (IOException ioe) {}

    finally {

    Try

    {

    is. Close();

    if (c! = null)

    c.Close ();

    }

    catch (IOException ioe) {}

    }

    }

    }

    When I run this program in the Simulator, I can do nothing. Please correct me if I'm wrong in coding.

    As I am new to this blackberry JDE environment, ideas and suggestions on how to write and run the sample applications in the blackberry are more welcomed.

    Concerning

    Make sure that your MDS starts when the Simulator starts.  In the JDE will in Edition > Preferences > Simulator > General and click the checkbox "launch Mobile Data System connection with Simulator Service.

  • How to change the icon of the Application on Blackberry JDE 6

    Hi, do someone know how to change the icon of the application of the project, we have created in the JDE? I searched the forum, and suggestions should go to the project properties, go to the "resources" tab and add the icon file. I have also included the file icon (PNG 68x68pixel) to the project.
    But this does not seem to work for me.
    I also tried to build clean, remove files jad and others, always not when I tried the app Simulator or on real device. Any help will be appreciated.
    I use Blackberry JDE 6, test the application on the actual device (9800), Simulator (9700). And the app that I'm testing is just a pushscreen simple helloWorld app, not a lot of code here. Thank you.

    Here's how to put the icon in BlackBerry JDE.

    1. Add the image to your project.
    2. Right-click on the image and choose Properties.
    3. Check "use as icon for the Application.
    4. Rebuild the application.
  • Install the simulators BlackBerry JDE 7.0, Windows 7

    I've developed for BlackBerry for awhile.  I lived two computers and many JDE.  Not once have I could download and install a simulator that works with the BlackBerry JDE.  Now, I don't really have a choice and I need to install the 9850 Simulator.

    The simulators that I download install and run standalone, but not BlackBerry JDE.  They are not displayed and my attempts to create a new profile of BlackBerry JDE Simulator so far have failed.

    I don't see anything when I did a search, surely someone else has had this experience.

    Thank you!

    Hi James,

    I have the JDE and several simulators device that runs correctly under Windows 7 64-bit set. Of course, I remove UAC before performing facilities. The JDE must be able to update the files when a new Simulator is detected and UAC seems to stand in this action.

    Turn off UAC (at your discretion, of course), then re - install would be an option to test. The other would be trying to install in a directory that your user account has or is governed by the UAC differently than the directory "Program Files" (computer desk or C:\).

    Kind regards

  • Add a notification icon in the status bar in Blackberry JDE 4.5.0

    Hi all

    I write a java application in Blackberry JDE 4.5, which will begin to listen to some event during startup. I want to display a small icon in the status bar

    I know that his support in version 4.6.0 of the BlackBerry API set of classes ApplicationIcon, ApplicationIndicator and ApplicationIndicatorRegistry but what classes exist in the set of API BlackBerry JDE 4.5.0?

    I think that some support is there for 4.5.0 as I m using Blackberry Pearl 8100 with OS v4.5.0.81 which displays Notification icons in the toolbar State for incoming messages or calls.

    Hi shreyasb,

    I don't think that there is an API for this for 4.5 and below. Your Pearl 8100 with OS 4.5 can display the icon notification such as incoming messages and calls because they were developed using the internal API of RIM which are not exposed to third-party developers.

  • trouble setting up Blackberry JDE and the JDE plugin Eclipse

    Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong here? I just downloaded blackberry JDE, tried to launch an example helloworld app that came with the IDE, but it keeps displaying error in the building.

    Then I tried to use the blackberry with eclipse plug-in. I downloaded the eclipse IDE, installed the plugin on the same folder as the eclipse IDE, and then when I click the icon blackberry on the eclipse toolbar, it asks me a key sigature... of course there must be something I am doing wrong.

    No, don't worry about the "install key Signature...". "That will not matter until you want to run on a real device.  The "configure BlackBerry Workspace' is grayed out until you have a BlackBerry workspace to configure.  Yes, a bit strange, but that's the way it works.

    To do this, you will need to either import a file from workspace BB existing (.jdw) or a file existing project BB (.jdp), or to build a new BB project from scratch. You build a new project of BB with file-> New-> project, which opens a new project dialog box, and then select BlackBerry-> BlackBerry project and run the new project wizard.  But you probably just want to import the demonstration project you are trying to build.
