difference in size of disk

and al.,.

Host: Windows 8 Pro x 64

Client: Windows 7 Ultimate x 86 {30 GB used space, maximum 200 GB HD.  8 GB of ram}

Question:

on the host, the vmdk reported a 101 GB in size. Despite the fact that in the VM, the guest operating system reports only 30 GB of usage.

I cleaned the hd guest operating system. I have defraged inside the guest os. I ran vssadmin get rid of any shadow copy. Yet just 30 GB inside the guest os.

I did the same thing on the host computer.

Can't understand why the vmdk on the host is so great!

Anyone got any ideas?

Thank you!

Snapshots have consumed more host disk space. Also running a defragmentation program within the guest to use a lot more host actually cause disk space. Take a look on: Clean Up a virtual hard drive on the Windows host

Why is the disk different? could you please clarify what happened?

Thank you for all your help

I agree that the 4.1 disc is now provisioned end 8GB has been put into service. The column size is the actual storage size of the disc.

It's a KB on thin item in service.

  • VSphere ESXi4.0 - need help upgrade and increase the size of disk to the server

    Hello

I have the free version of the VSphere ESXi4.0, I'm looking to do 2 things:

    (1) Upgarde to the last free version of Vsphere. Can you point me to the upgrade of the software and the path correct upgarde?

    (2) I have 2 servers running in the machine. One is a Windows 2008 R2. I need to increase the size of disk for this server. Currently, it is 144 GB. I need to increase it up to 260 GB. How can I do this? I tried to simply increase the size by increasing the C of this server disk Edition by the 40 to 80 GB VSphere client and D ranging from 100 GB and 200 GB drive [I'm running out of space]. But the Vsphere shows again that the orginial 140 assignment or not the new 280 Gb.

    Help, please. Thanks in advance

You must go into Windows on the virtual machine and use the disk management tools to extend the volume. It is a two stage process where you first set the VM, then the second step is to adjust the windows.

  • Difference in size between the 2 forms...

    Good day all.

This may seem like a strange question, and somehow, I guess it is. But now.

    Difference in size form?

I've drawn 2 forms that have all the same fields. The only difference between the 2 forms is 1 is English and the other is French.

The French form is 1.4 MB and English are 2.1 MB.

I had a quick glance and it doesn't seem to be something different between the 2 forms except as I said the language.

The area using this form asked whether it would be possible to reduce the size of the shape as yours to send multiple copies (20 this time) and is limited to the total MB in an email.

I use version 8.05.2073 of the life cycle of the designer

    Thank you all

You can désincorporer fonts? If you do not need, also disable accessibility. Everything in file > form > Save Options.

    Hello

Faster a car runs faster, it can access the files. Of course, there may be other differences
that affect speed such as the cache size, number or heads and others.

Check the transfer rate DTR (Data) - slower disks are usually cheaper.

  • Good size of disk RAID 1 for Time Machine

I have a Mac Mini with a Fusion 1 TB drive. What is the recommended size for a backup drive in a RAID 1 using Time Machine configuration?

The general consensus is that player TM (or readers in your case) should be twice the size of Mac disk.

    Take a look on > http://pondini.org/TM/1.html

and then for Intel RAID > http://pondini.org/TM/2.html

I use a mixed bag of backups, relying more on several clones CarbonCopyCloner as Time Machine for two reasons.

    1. If you have no problem with boot drive, you can start a CCC clone and continue working.

    2. it is faster and easier to restore from a clone of the CCC, rather than re - install OS X and then restore data from TM.

  • T420 sizes of disk Physics Max (SSD/HDD)

My venus T420 with a 320 GB Seagate HDD (6mm high) who was quickly put on a 160 GB Intel X-25 (height 7.5 mm). Recently, I needed more space and tried an another upgrade to a 256 GB OCZ Vertex 4 (9mm height). The OCZ is uncomfortably tight and I'm afraid to damage the laptop, so I'm holding off trying to find an SSD of 7mm. What SSD others use to upgrade their T420 to 256 GB and more?

An alternative is to buy and connect a drive 256 GB mSATA and put back the old 320 HARD drive in the drive tray. But this raises the question of the limits of size of HARD drive. Most (all?) 1 TB drives are double tray and too big for the T420. So my second question is what is the largest capacity HARD drive that would fit in the T420 drive tray?

The mSATA option seems more elegant and offers a lot of total storage space. What I forget?

Gentlemen, first of all thanks for all these information on physical disk sizes and on the other hand, I thank you for the direction of me in the right direction. When I got my calipers out, I assumed the problem was of height of the disc. But your contribution suggested that my 9.06 mm high disk should work perfectly.

The culprit turned out to be the widthof the car. I used screws with heights of head high to mount the drive in the caddy. After the damper rubber on the screws, the set was too broad.

More small screw and life is perfect. Now cloning!

  • T520 sizes of disk Physics Max (SSD/HDD)

What is the largest mSATA of ability that can go in the mSATA slot in a T520 (April 2011)?

    Thank you!

There is no limit of BIOS known on the size of the disk that you can install, so 1 TB should work.

    Good luck.

  • I have a 16 GB USB Firebird and the size on disk is only 14.9 GB

    Hi all

When I format my usb drive, all I can get is 14.9 GB. Is this normal?

and one more thing. I tried to format it like a chrome OS boot disk and made a big mess. Finally I managed to return to a single partition. This thing with the chrome operating system changed the default settings of the drive so I want to know what is the default allocation unit size (when formatting)? I think it's 4 096 bytes before I ate with it, now its default 8192. I don't know what was the default allocation size, so I need a number for an answer.

    Thank you very much!

  • Difference in size camera & Camera leader Open Stock

I came across a beautiful camera application that is also open source called Camera open. Beautiful free app. It also has the possibility to choose the video quality FULL HD (1080 p), HD (720 P) etc...

When I got a wink of two camera of the application of the open camera app file size was smaller 2 MB compared to the camera app stock without any sign of deterioration in the quality of the photo. Both applications have been set at the same settings (16:9 with the same resolution).

However when I take a full HD video the size of the file of the two applications is the same.

If you take lots of photos, then overall storage consumed by photos taken using open camera would be much smaller.

Anyone can throw some light on this...

    Thank you

Probably the code used for jpg compression and settings bike taken against the other application. My guess is that, in good conditions, you will notice a difference between the applications. It might be by zooming in on the image of the processsed, or perhaps different lighting.

More large recorded images are usually better in the long term. You can't go back and resume most of the images, and if you want to crop you have additional data.

  • Size of disk display Confusion

    Hello

I am completely confused about what watch vSphere vs what PowerCLI tells me. For starters, PowerCLI shows what I expect for the size of the disk of a guest (~ 180):

    poweclidisksize.png

But, vCenter, I use about 310G says:

    vcenterviewofvmguestdisk.jpg

    How can this be?

    T

    I take an occasional NAP

I agree with rtunisi, thin isn't a bad idea, don't forget that there are extra points to pay attention to.

Make sure you check the overcommitment and how much free space is left on a regular basis.

But scheduling and distributing such a report are pretty easy with PowerCLI.

  • Difference in size of the Parent unit and linked clone

    Hi team,

I do view Vsphere 5.2 implementation Horizon. Implementation goes smoothly, but I saw a c disk space difference of Parent and Linked clone.

Windows 7 with Service pack 1 built with optimization script to disable unwanted services. Free space on the drive c image parent is 3.90 Go. When I put in service a clone related in this snapshot of parent picture I found free space in linked clone vdi is about 6.5 GB.

Please specify if anyone face the same or it is normal in the linked clone.

    Thank you

    Ravindra.

You use a disposable disc? When you use a disk file page flies on this disc which may explain the difference in free space.
