Different users see different elements via Web Client

Hello

I am new to 5.x (4.1 come) and I; m a bit confused by the web client.

I logged on as [email protected] and added a host and virtual machine (vCenter itself) under the host.  Then I added a local user to the SSO Administrators group and identified as this user.

After I logged in, I saw that I could see and do all the things normal admin (to validate that I was an admin), but none of the previously entered was visible.  No greeting, no VM vCenter on the host.  It looked like a brand-new installation vcenter with nothing else than the default values.

So, what of going on here?  Is there a delay from when you add a new user when the user can see the infrastructure?  Or is it some sort of barrier where I still have to add as many items for each admin user?

Addition of a user to the OSP is not enough, you must also assign the permissions/roles appropriate to the items in the inventory.

  • Why can't I see hosts/guests in my vCenter while I can see them in the Web Client vSphere?

    Hello

    IM new to VmWare\PowerCLI.  The goal is to get a list of VM guests in a vCenter via PowerCLI.  I can see 80 guests when I connect via the Web Client vSphere, but when I use the PowerCLI cmdlets, a Get-VMHost returns nothing.  I did the following:

    1 connect-VIServer the username-password IluvVmWare myserver.acme.com-acme\BigDog connects fine without error.

    2. $defaultviserver | Select * shows me the default connection properties.

    3 get-data center shows me 2 data centers; DC1 and DC2

    4 get-DataCenter DC1. Get-VMHost returns nothing

    5 get-VMHost returns nothing

    6 get-vmhost-Server myserver.acme.com returns nothing

    What I do wrong with PowerCLI so I can't get a dump of the hosts on the vCenter?  I can see them all in the vSphere Web Client, so permissions seem fine.

    It looks like that there.

    You must speak with the vCenter admin I guess.

    More simple would you give permissions to view read-only on the vCenter and let this authorization to spread.

    Out of curiosity, this shows the VMHostname?

    Get - VM | Select Name,@{N='VMHost'; E={$_. VMHost.Name}}

  • Unable to see vCO in vSphere Web Client

    I am currently using vRealize Orchestrator 6.0.0. I tried to add the name extension to my vSphere Web Client, but it still does not work.

    I have configured authentication SSO, the network, imported SINGLE authentication certificate. I ran the two workflows 'Add an instance of vCenter Server' and "Register as a Server extension vCenter Orchestrator vCetner" in "library / vCenter / Configuration.

    When I try to restart my vSphere Web service Client, I can see the vCO in it, but it goes away after a minute. And I can see, the error message.

    Cannot connect to one or more systems of vCenter server:

    https:// " {vCenterIP}: 443/sdk '

    unnamed.png

    It seems that this is not a combination of supported - vRO 6.0.0 (for customers of vRA 6.2 only) + VC 5.5.0. Also in general is not required to run the workflow extension registry. The extension must be registered automatically with the workflow add vCenter server. You could wait for vSphere 6.0.0 6.0.1and vRO and try with them.

  • See 5.2 Blast Web Client

    Hi all

    We make implementation and configure the web interface 5.2/explosion. Everything seems to work very well but have a concern. The configuration has forced us to open on our external firewall TCP 8443 port. So we have now two ports open for this service works. 443 & 8443. What we discovered before opening the port 8443, was web site connection running on port 443/HTTPS would be to redirect to a URL with the 8443 in what he's trying to run the office. Is it possible to do this configuration all ride on HTTPS/443, so we only have one port opened externally.

    Find someone else who asked this question, or perhaps I'm missing just totally documentation on this somewhere.

    Thank you

    -DS

    Hello, DS,.

    To use the Protocol of Blast, you must have the two open port 443 and 8443. Port 443 is used on the Portal Server notice to users to download the client and access to the connection of client of Blast. The 8443 port is the port used for traffic of breath by the Security Server or the server of connection on the desktop of the tunnel end. These various services and require different ports. Both connections are secured via SSL.

  • Widgets/Dashboard customized for vSphere Web Client?

    Hey all,.

    I have tested vCOPS 5.7 in the laboratory and have a question:

    Is it possible to create dashboards customized to the users that connect through the Web Client vSphere?

    Or is it only possible to create dashboards customized during connection of users through the personalized UI Portal?

    I have a few users who will record only by using the Web Client vSphere.  Although the predefined dashboards is nice, I want to know if any degree of customization is possible.

    Thank you

    Andrew

    It depends on what exactly you want to customize, but generally vSphere UI as a whole is much less customizable than the custom user interface. It depends on whether access you if via the vSphere Client or directly through the browser. The widgets in the dashboard of the user interface of vSphere are hard defined by object type. The customizable part of vSphere UI is tab analysis (Heatmap Gallery).

    Hope this helps,

    Alex D.

  • Local storage shows as inactive in the web client

    Hello

    So I have a strange problem. On two of my guests, local storage shows as inactive in vCenter. I can access it without problem and there seems to be problems, but it is a bit concerning to see the alert whenever I am connected.

    Capture.PNG

    However, when I checked in the thick client this error is not there. It is only in the web client for a reason any. I tried to restart the management agents, update storage adapters, and a new analysis of storage, but it has not changed.

    No idea what can be the cause and if it's something to worry about?

    Thank you!

    Please reboot the host and see again in the Web Client.

    BTW, what version of vSpehre for your environment?

  • Help, I changed the password of root ESXi via powerCli, now I can not connect with the web client or the console.

    Help, I've changed the root ESXi via powerCli password, now I can not connect with the web client or the console, but I can still connect to powerCli. The command I used was;

    SE connect-VIServer esxihostname-user root - password newpasswd

    This production network btw, I have connected to each host and run the above command, these ESXi hosts are not on a domain

    y at - it something I have left out. I really appreciate any assistance that you people can provide.

    Thank you, Joe

    It is probably a longshot, but a lot of things in the land of windows is not sensitive to capital letters as Unix is.  I wonder if your new password you put through powerCLI mixed uppercase in it and if the capitalization was abandoned by command windows powerCLI Analyzer, or he interpreted as all capitals or something.   If you can still get through the powerCLI you could try to reset the password again to something simple without capitalization mixed case and if your password on ESXi strategy requires a special character, try something different than a "$", like a "_" (I find that a '_' is less likely than some other special characters (, as a '-' or a ' / ' to cause problems with analyzers.).

    Edit:

    Another thing, you can try before playing with the password once again, is to create a different username ESXi using powerCLI and see if the password ends up what you think, it should be, and if you can get with the client vsphere using it.  In this way, you can find out if there are some problems with certain characters or Cap through command powerCLI Analyzer without losing your remaining root by powerCLI access.  After some tests, you can understand what went wrong with your initial password change and may be able to fix it with less risk of losing access.  I also assume that you can not create a new username on ESXi who is able to change the root password no matter what authority give you it, otherwise, you could create a new username with PowerCLI, then connect to the client vsphere with it and change the password to root from there.

  • How can I configure Outlook Express to receive messages to different mailboxes (via POP3) but to send messages and responses using a single SMTP account?

    How can I configure Outlook Express to receive messages to different mailboxes (via POP3) but to send messages and responses using only a single SMTP account?

    In other words, I need to download via POP3 messages sent to the * address email is removed from the privacy *, * address email is removed from the privacy *, * address email is removed from the privacy * but I want to send messages using Mar SMTP service associated to * address email is removed from the privacy *

    If I get a message like * address email is removed from the privacy * I want to answer as * address email is removed from the privacy *.

    Is this possible?

    How can I configure Outlook Express?

    Concerning

    Marius

    You can do this if the Server SMTP allows you to send from a location that you are not connected via their internet service.  So if you have this permission, go to tools | Accounts | Add mail.  Then under the account of property | You want to set the server for incoming mail to the POP3 account, and then the SMTP protocol for the other account that you use to send servers.  And then indicate whether or not the server requires authentication, and if yes, then you will need to put in the user name and password for the SMTP server it.  Under properties. Advanced to define appropriate ports that may be different from the default value according to e-mail accounts.  You can also check the "leave a copy of messages on the server" for accounts POP3, if you access messages from multiple computers.

    Once you have an account set up, then you can set others upward in the same way, but change the POP3 properties for each while leaving the SMTP ones the same.

    Once you have all that in place, you might want to backup things in case something goes wrong: www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#6

  • How to extract the selected ESXi host user name and the password in the web client of vSphere?

    Hi all.

    I'm developing a plug-in for the web client to vsphere. I want to communicate with the selected host of ESXi in my Java Service Layer and who needs the host user name and password.

    I don't know how to search the Flex user interface layer.

    ESXi credentials are not stored in the user interface layer, you must use the vSphere SDK Web Service on the coast of java.  See vim.host.ConnectInfo.

  • Update password user via Web Services

    Hello. I'm trying to update the password for a user via the web services of management of rights, https://{mydomain} / SOAP/services/RightsManagementService? wsdl & lc_version = 9.0.1, using .NET 4.0 (c#).

    Here's the function I wrote. When I run the code it always returns false. I have searched the documentation and the forumns but found nothing. Can anyone provide any ideas on how I can update a user password in LiveCycle via exposed web services?

    public bool UpdateUserPassword (string userName, string password)

    {

    Boolean result = false;

    WebServices.RightsManagement. user UserImpl = new WebServices.RightsManagement. UserImpl ();

    User.UserID = username;

    user.canonicalName = username;

    user.domainName = DefaultPolicySets. DefaultDomain;

    user.principalType = 'USER';

    User.local = true;

    User.Locked = false;

    User.Disabled = false;

    User.System = false;

    Console. WriteLine (this. rmSvc.resetExternalUserPassword (user, password));

    returns the results;

    }

    The answer to this question was to use another function exposed by Web services of management directory, {domain} / SOAP/services/DirectoryManagerService? WSDL & lc_version = 9.0.1.

    The function in question is called updateLocalUser().

    You can find more information here http://help.adobe.com/en_US/livecycle/9.0/programLC/javadoc/com/adobe/idp/um/api/Directory Manager.html#updateLocalUser%28com.adobe.idp.um.api.infomodel.User,%20java.lang.String%29.

  • Web client - System Configuration node displays 'Unknown' for the Uptime and the workload, no value for IP & Hostname

    When I connect on our vCenter 6 Update 1 device (embedded PSC) via the Web Client with integrated Active Directory ID, select "System Configuration", then select the node for vCenter, summary screen displays all the information IP or host name.  In addition, the status of availability and workload for storage/memory/swap/load of work view all 'unknown '.  See attached photo for reference.

    All values under management-> settings are also empty.

    When I login with [email protected], all the above values are displayed and I can change the settings of the device of vCenter as expected.  This made me suspect a permission problem exists, but I cannot know what SSO group to add our AD is less to enable management or control of the aircraft from vCenter for that it works as expected.

    Already tried to add our accounts to the following groups in SSO under the vsphere.local domain:

    DCAdmins

    SystemConfiguration.Administrators

    ComponentManager.Administrators

    Directors

    This information on the purpose of each group unfortunately did not help me understand which could apply:

    Groups in the field of vsphere.local

    Thank you very much for the help!

    I just did some digging on this myself (we deployed now U2 6.0) after I tried the same things (adding AD users in the SSO domain groups, etc. etc.) without success.

    What I have found is that it is simply a WELL-KNOWN PROBLEM with 6.0 U2 and maybe they'll fix with U3 6.0 when that comes out (later this summer)?  Maybe it'll be 6.5 at that time, with an announcement to the VMworld 2016 or something - who knows.

    The workaround is a joke--suggesting the deployment using only the SSO domain by default.  Well, which is never going to happen naturally, so he says as a workaround is, if you really need to get and display status, etc. from the web client, you simply connect with your [email protected] account that was created at the initial time of installation.

  • vRealize Orchestrator - cannot add to vSphere Web Client

    Hello

    I configured the device vRealize Orchestrator and added the vCenter Server to the server via the customer to vRO Orchestrator--> library and can successfully run workflows against objects in vCenter. Then vRO works.

    BUT

    The problem I have is that I can't seem to add the server vRO to vSphere Web Client. I do not see the plugin if and when I go to the Orchestrator plugin I see the vCenter Server in the "House of vCO' tab but"N/A"under"Managed by vCenter Orchestrator Server"." Under the "Lists" section it says "vCO servers: 0".» What Miss me?

    I tried to add the new server to vRO (device) by changing the vCenter object and enter the server IP new vRO. But "Test connection" fails every time.

    In addition, vCO has been installed with vCenter initially but never used and not yet used. But I don't think it would make a difference.

    I don't see the vCenter plugin tab in the left menu when connecting to vRO with the customer and com.vmware.vco isn't showing in /mob .

    Versions:

    vCenter: 5.5u2

    vRO: 6.0.3.0 build 3000579

    Thank you!

    Hello

    I'm a bit confused. It seems you are trying to use the two vCO 5.5.2 and vRO with VC 5.5.2 6.0.3, but plug-ins are different (they have different deployment mechanism, different extensions in MOB, etc.). I recommend you stick to the version of the vCO you got installed with VC - in this case, 5.5.2.

    Then, check the following:

    • Check that the vCO is configured with the SSO authentication, and it is the same instance used by VC/Web Client SSO
    • Check that this instance of vCenter is added as properly to vCO and there is an extension of 5.5.x - style into the CROWD. His name is com.vmware.orchestrator. [some-guid]
    • Check that the extension of the server property contains a record with URL property pointing to the server fine vCO - https:[vco-ip]:8281
    • Make sure that the user you are using to connect to the Web Client has a permission; for example. You should be able to connect to vCO Client Java with this user

    If the foregoing is valid, check the Web Client (vsphere_client_virgo.log) log file for any errors of loading of the vCO and connection at the vRO server plugin.
