Digitization of slides

Via eBay, I bought a HP device to scan 35 mm slides. I thought I was getting the whole device, but it is only an attachment. I can't able to find it on the HP site. I can find the numbers on the device, but HP does not recognize one of them. The numbers are: Q3121A enbedded in the plastic, the regulatory model: GRLYB-0311 and [personal information deleted]
. I know that it is an attachment to an HP printer or scanner. She can tell the model numbers that this accessory could work with maybe if I can find a used one that works?

Larry

Hello and welcome to the Forums of HP Larry, I hope you enjoy your experience!

I see yu are trying to find what scanners are compatible with the accessory that you purchased.  The attachment is designed to work with the HP Scanjet 4600 and the HP Scanjet 4700.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.  Thanks for posting on the HP Forums.

Have new Dell desktop running Windows 8.1, 64.  Old scanner photo HP Scanjet 4850, already used with Windows XP Media Edition, still works on the prints photo, but cannot scan 35 mm slides.  You are considering buying Scanner Photo HP Scanjet G4050 but first need to know if it is completely compatible with Windows 8.1 and so will scan my slides.

    Hello

I would first try a 3rd party application like VueScan analysis he Joanie support the digitization of slides and can provide you with a current workaround for your Scanjet 4850 solution, you can install a free trial first and check if this might do the trick for you:

Other than that, the G4050 support the digitization of slides and fully supported on Windows 8.1 with full feature software below:

  • Digitization of slides or positive film

I have a Canon MX720 multifunction printer that has a support film/slides on the plate. How he used to scan film or slide film? It does not appear as one of the functions possible; It can scan photos, documents, etc, but the movie does not appear as an option. Yet, the carrier film is an integral part of this multifunction printer.  Or I have to download additional software? Or is it because I use it wireless, but if I connect via the USB port it will allow me to scan a film?

I feel really stupid. I realize that what I thought was a support on the plates for negative film or slides is actually a part of the automatic documents feeder!  So my question is quite poiintless! My apologies to those of you who read my ad and were left scratching their heads.

But it leaves me with another question. I have thousands of slides 35 mm I want to scan and digitize. Which Canon product that is compatible Mac can do, without having to take each sliding oif his support plastic me?

  • In Photos, I changed the date, title and information on the location of the images of a slide digitizing company.  I want to preserve the custom metadata and the original resolution of 2500 dpi in a file backup, but when I export it loses my metadata chan

Using version 1.3 of Photos, I edited the metadata about the images, I received a business of digitization of slides to insert the first day of the slide, the location, a title and a keyword.  I want to archive these images with the original resolution of 2500 dpi, but when I export original unmodified, it does not preserve information.  When I export by choosing export as XMP IPTC, I can't read the XMP file to see if there are my revisions.

When I export using the 'Export # photo (s)' choice, I can use the previews/tools/Inspector/iptc and see my changes.  But this photo has only 72 dpi.

Is there a way to preserve this modification of metadata information in the original not modified?  Alternatively, this file has XMP I exported the info?  If so, how can I read it?  And that would mean I need to export both the original unmodified and the XMP file to my files from archive?

Don't know what you want - well there is a CIO field in the EXIF fields it is meaningless as DPI is not a setting but the result of a math problem third grade - points by (divided by) inches until you add inches per impression you have no IPR - and when you add inches the DPI for printing are determined by calculating not by any setting

    For more information, see http://www.rideau-info.com/photos/mythdpi.html

A 1200 x 1800 pixels picture printed as a 4'x 6' printing is 300 DPI bit matter what setting the EXIF says

    Hello martinw56,

Thank you for using the Microsoft Windows Vista Forums.

Sorry, you have a problem with that!  Have you tried the steps below with respect to the scanning of a picture with Windows Photo Gallery?  Do you have in the past been able to scan pictures with your current scanner and upload pictures to the photo gallery?

Please let us know status.  Thank you!

Before you begin, make sure that you have installed the scanner to the computer and the scanner is powered.

    1.

Windows Photo Gallery by clicking on the button Start , allprograms, and then clicking Windows Photo Gallery.

    2.

Click fileand then click import from device scanner or photo.

    3.

In the window import pictures and videos , click the scanner that you want to use, and then click import.

    4.

In the new scan dialog box, click the list of profiles , and then click the picture. The default settings to scan an image appear automatically.

    5.

If you're using a scanner with a document feeder, click the paper size list, and then click the size of the image that you have placed on the scanner or click on the size that is similar to the image.

    6.

Click the color format list, and then click the color format that you want the scanned file to display.

    7.

Click the type of file list, and then click the file type that you want to use to save the scanned file.

    8.

Click the list Resolution (DPI) , and then click the resolution, in dots per inch, that you want to use.

    9.

Adjust the settings for brightness and contrast, or type the values that you want to use.

    10.

To see how the image will appear when it is scanned, click Preview. If necessary, change the scan settings, and then preview the image again. Repeat these steps until you are satisfied with the results of the overview. Some scanners may require that place you the image in the charger whenever you are scanning.

    11.

Click on scan. When the scan is complete, Windows Photo Gallery invites you to mark the image so that it is easier to organize or find later.

    12.

In the list tag these pictures (optional) , type a tag name, and then click import. Windows Photo Gallery displays the picture, so you can view, difficulty or organize.

  • CanoScan 5000F will not work with Windows 7

Will there be patches for Canoscan 5000F anytime? He's older, but still works very well for the scanning of slides that I do. I'm in the middle of a project of digitization of slides to scan, so if there is a way to make it work I would appreciate a lot of 30 years. Right now, I can't afford to buy another scanner.

  • Using scanjet G4050 HP scanning 35mm slide

A week ago, I bought a HP scanjet G4050. I bought to digitize old 35mm slides, I chose this model because it was written, I could scan 16 slides at the same time, but I can't find a software that can do!

    Please help me!

My operating system is Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks.

Sorry for my bad English, I write from the Italy.

Thank you very much in advance for your answer!

Sorry for my bad English but I'm Italian and my English is not very good!

I solved my problem, I "reset" my mac, so I downloaded this driver

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?OS=4159 & LC = IT & CC = IT & DLC = IT & sw_lang = & Product = 3236377 #n177

and I bought vuescan standard edition (because with the free, it did not work) and now I can scan slide 16 in order!

I save in 1200 dpi and for all slides 16 it takes more or less 50 minutes, sometimes, it seems that the scanner is stuck, but I think the problem is that my mac is not powerful enough to image realignment process takes a lot of time.

  • My Photosmart 3210: when scanning slides 35 mm, the scan results in a single image

    Photosmart 3210 all-in-one

    Mac OS 10.6.8

    HP software: HP_Installer_Photosmart_Full_Group12_10.3.dmg

This is my 1st attempt to digitize old 35mm color slides. At the first trial, the scanner produces four good images. On the next sweep attempts, it produces only a single image containing four slides and a message in the printer says "no scan options".

I tried your troubleshooting ideas: unpluggng the printer, uninstall/reinstall the software HP & pilot.

All other functions of the word OK printer. Any ideas?

    macintod

Thank you, Sean.   Scanning is now the induvidual pictures production. But I had todo several other procedures.

I have reset the printer according to your instructions, but it had the same negative results.

I then unplugged the power from the printer and the signal cables, and then reconnected them and restarted the printer. I then reset the printer by you instructions.  I restarted my iMac's "HP Scan", selected slides in the HP scan profiles and pressed 'Scan '.  The result was four individual images.

    Thank you very much.   macintod

  • Scan slides to a hp photosmart mac 7510?

    I don't think there's a way to digitize slides to a mac at a photosmart hp 7510?

No, not really.  To scan transparencies and negatives on the scanner needs a backlight behind the media to project the image on the scanner.  The scanner on your printer has only a white sheet behind the scanned images, so this won't work.

There are several manufacturers that offer scans of slides or negatives for less than $200.

  • Can't digitizer Zire 31

I rebooted my palm after let it drain too.  Now I can't seem to do anything but point to the target again and again and again (at least 50 times).  What else can I try to go beyond that?  I tried the soft reset in the back button, but brings just up the scanner again.

This seems to indicate that you have a defective scanner unit. You can try this solution before a repair or replacement; remove the protection screen, take a card and take the angle and insert it between the screen and the frame around the screen, slide the card completely around the frame of the screen. You try to dislodge any dirt that could be taken between the frame and the screen. Reset the device again, and then see if that solves the target chasing the issue. If this does not work, you will need a digitizer for repair or replacement. Palm offers is no longer on this device due to age.

You may be able to get a replacement of Directfix.com digitizer. They also provide videos on how to install the replacement part.
