Dimension 4550 DVD-ROM and DVD-RAM will not read disks

My daughter has a Dimension 4550. The engraver has recently left working, so we replaced it with a Lite-On DH-20A4P-08 DVD - RAM drive. We played a couple of moview and a CD on the new drive. Today the old DVD-ROM new DVD-RAM both refuse to recognize that a disc is in the disc (DVD or CD); He says: no disc in the drive. We have checked the cable connections and updated the driver for the new drive with no luck. We also tried the Dell store without success.

Any other ideas?

How to run diagnostics on these discs?

The computer simply will not play anything - no CD-ROM, dvd or cd. Instead, the drive blinks several times and does nothing.

However, the computer not only recognizes the drive, but if I hit eject. The disk opens. Once I put a cd/dvd/CD, the computer always says "Please insert a disk into drive D:".

Help, please. And I thank you in advance.

  • DVD / CD-Rom drive will not read disks.

    I don't know if it's a hardware problem or a software problem.

When I put a disc in, it runs for 1-2 seconds, stops, turns for 1-2 seconds, stops, turns for like 1-2 seconds, stops (model repeats 3 times at once) and then silence.

After trying several times to put in and taking the disc, it runs at full speed and I knew that it is a success that it's reading the disc to replay the video. But why it fails then back working again constantly. Solution?

Also, when my computer is in "sleep" and I wake up, disk she could read his way 'sleep' cannot be detected anymore. Solution?

The drive model is HP DVD Ram UJ8A2.

I tried all the solutions software. None of them worked. I have actually used a piece of tissue paper to gently clean the DVD / CD lens a few times and now it works fine. I think the lens must attend a gentle cleaning. Resolved issues.

  • DVD writer will not burn disks in XP Pro...

I'm having a problem with a recently re-installed Windows XP Pro (in fact, Media Center Edition 2005, updated with SP3). I can not burn DVD at all; I've tried three different readers of verified and made a 'repair installation' to the BONE, but no dice.

In 'My computer', the drive (SATA, Samsung SH-S223C drive) presents itself as "DVD - RAM Drive (E :) ', but when I insert a blank DVD-R media, the name changes to 'CD Drive (e)' and pushes me, as usual, to open an accessible folder writable.). If I open the drive in the Solution Explorer, controls do not show that it can be "written". The same thing happens with two other known readers, who are all two PATA interfaces.

In the "Properties" for the reader, "Enable CD writing for this drive" is checked. In Computer Services, "IMAPI CD burning... '. ' is running.

I tried various checked drives and different brands of media (known to be good on the other PC), so the problem must be in the OS somewhere. I can't run the "Fixit" tool, because it invites me to .NET Framework 2.0 or later version, and I've got .NET Framework 4 already installed (what is yet another problem?).

    Any help would be appreciated.

Windows XP does not work (not never, will likely not ever) natively write on DVDs.  CD, Yes, he has limited there.  DVD - need a third party application.  You are using.

    Hello

Used speed, the actual brand of discs, burning and if file Live or mastered all come into play.

You have disk problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD burning and)
Playback of CD and DVD). So it is not unusual for parts from 1 or 2 to not work so that others do
    correctly.

Burning at low speed, or by using the master could help. A CD/DVD cleaner might help.

CD/DVDs have a tolerance + - and your can read/write on the edge outside these discs
tolerances. They may be delivered, but it is generally more economical to replace the disk.

  • DVD player will not read is no longer drives

Recently, I went for 2 weeks - when I left my computer was working and my dvd drive could read all my disks (mainly games)

My return however (and after the installation of 18 updates last night) the bed DVD player is no longer just about any type of media disc (having already be able to read all). • Toshiba cd/dvd drive will not read or eject or anything like that!

Cd/dvd driver for my Toshiba laptop will not work. It lasted about a year, then he became gradually sporadic to read/write or ejection and by last winter, he stopped all together. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers for it, and in Device Manager, it says that the device is functioning normally; every once in a blue moon it will suddenly eject, but then if you put something in nothing happens, even not with the original disks. With the repair utility, it says something like unreadable media, at best. I'm a little confused as to what is happening here, so, what steps should I take to verify if it is indeed the drive disc or something in the software?

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
Burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational so that other parts
    do it right.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are
the entries in registry that the troubleshooter does not solve and those who "might" be the cause.

Check with your Maker system and a device for the two possible firmware updates and
the correct registry entries for your car.

Here are the keys that I of course are those in question - for the subkeys of the CD/DVD drive
as there will be other subkeys in these keys. Do not forget to ask specific keys involved as well as
    the parameters.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\IDE

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Hardware Profiles\0001\System\CurrentControlSet\Enum\IDE

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

You can probably find more info here and maybe even the exact registry for your CD/DVD settings
drive from someone with the same model.

Use DevManView to locate the CD/DVD in the registry (be careful and do a prior Restore Point)
nothing change) - find the DevManView device and then make a right click on it free in RegEdit.

DevManView - free - an alternative to the standard Windows Device Manager, which displays all the
devices and their properties in flat table, instead of the tree viewer

  • Satellite Pro A100: DVD UJ850 of disk I/O error - will not read disks

I got a glance at other posts on the site of the people who have had a similar problem and I'm starting to think that my drive is defekt!

The defective hard drives after extracting audio from a CD to store on my MP3 player. I arrived at almost the end of the CD and the drive started to jump so I took out the cd.
After that, he would not read the discs and returned the device IO error that others have had.

First thing I did was install the driver and cleaned the lens. No luck. Then I removed the device in Device Manager and reinstalled windows, still no luck. Then I tried the registery fix. I even removed the drive and put it back in, my same experience if this can sometimes fix things. Still no joy.
As a last resort, I tried to find the firmware for the drive a Matsu * UJ850, but could ony find another OEM manufacturing of the firmware.

Firmware is for the toshiba Variant? I have really no idea why he left after the extraction of a CD. He had a very light use and is more than 1 year. If there is a way to repair rather than shell out on a new, one I would welcome suggestions.

I saw you first posted thread here in the forum on the problems of drive CD/DVD device.

You solve it? It of the same problem?

The problem described here sounds a bit like a hardware malfunction. Especially the drive cannot read or write CD or DVD due to the lens of the drive failure.
But maybe you are a lucky guy and the material is ok

I noticed that the Sonic software could be responsible or IO errors.
Remove the software Sonic add it & remove programs, reboot the laptop and clean the registry with CCleaner software recheck player features.

the same thing with music, tried I don't know how many discs, same result... help me please!

Have you ever tried this method?

Go to Device Manager and remove the drive from the list of devices CD/DVD.

Then start the registry (regedit) and delete the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters completely from the following registry key values:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Then restart your laptop, and after that windows installs it again. Perhaps this may solve your problem.
