DVD / CD-Rom drive will not read disks.

I don't know if it's a hardware problem or a software problem.

When I put a disc in, it runs for 1-2 seconds, stops, turns for 1-2 seconds, stops, turns for like 1-2 seconds, stops (model repeats 3 times at once) and then silence.

After trying several times to put in and taking the disc, it runs at full speed and I knew that it is a success that it's reading the disc to replay the video. But why it fails then back working again constantly. Solution?

Also, when my computer is in "sleep" and I wake up, disk she could read his way 'sleep' cannot be detected anymore. Solution?

The drive model is HP DVD Ram UJ8A2.

I tried all the solutions software. None of them worked. I have actually used a piece of tissue paper to gently clean the DVD / CD lens a few times and now it works fine. I think the lens must attend a gentle cleaning. Resolved issues.

My CD drive was working fine, then suddenly the door opens, and when I inserted a disc manually (on the computer has read very well just a few hours earlier), I got a message saying that there no disc.

If the door does not open and must be opened means that one cable to connect the drive to the motherboard or power has failed, or that the drive itself does not.

    Hello, tyINtrouble

The device is listed as a DVD player?

You can check by clicking on start, click computer, and to check the label of the hard drive, he may mention DVD or DVD - RW etc.

You can also check your connections are secure.

If possible, you can try to test the drive in another machine, or another drive in your computer to see if it works properly.

If your hard drive and DVD/CD player are on the same parallel cable connection, it can cause problems as well.

We can't wait to hear back on your part.

  • Combo CDR/DVD SDR2102 drive will not read CDs or DVDs

    Hello

    I have a mobile Ergo Elite 4.
The hard drive crashed and I bought a new one.
I have loaded windows XP by using a boot disk but cannot get the Toshiba SDR2102 CDR/DVD combo drive to work. I had to load windows on via USB
    using a USB port.

I can see the drive in windows Explorer, but it will not read the CD or DVD.
I looked in the Device Manager, and it came with no warning mark.
I tried deleteting, re-startup and he's back in the Device Manager.

I'm trying to find a better driver, but it says that I use the best driver.
I tried various Web sites using sand everywhere tells me that I do not need a driver for this drive.
What I do, it seems as if the Combo driver is recognized but it will not be read whatever it is inserted, he said only: insert the disc.

Does anyone know what I can try? or know where I can get drivers for it or software to test the drive?

any help would be appreciated. :-(
    Some.

    Hello

You n t need a special driver for the CD/DVD drive.
CD/DVD players use the current Microsoft drivers already contained in the Windows operating system.

In my opinion, you should first test different types of media. Please note that not all CD or DVD s are compatible. Distribute readers can't handle bad quality mediums.

But we shouldn't t rule out a risk of hardware malfunction.
Disk failure and you may wish to contact your dealer for a replacement.

  • Optical drive will not read anything else professional films

So, I am owner of a 2012 MacBook Pro 13 ". The computer comes with Intel Core i7 processor and has the maximum of 8 GB of Ram. The problem is that the optical drive that is built into the computer will read nothing else done professionally movies. It can read disks of movies like the Lord of the rings and Wargames, to name a few, I tested, but it will not read any DVD-R disc or to a CD. I tried the CDs as Metallica music... And Justice for all after try in another computer and a radio and get good results when it just won't play on my Mac.

I have had this problem in the past , but at the time the optical drive not read anything at all. This occurred in early December and I fixed it on 20 December. To solve the problem, I went to the Apple Store and they can Reset the P - RAM. The Apple guy he told me to make sure to disable every night. I did this because it's what I did in the past. After that, I was able to play any CD or DVD and burn them. I also tested it every two weeks by playing a DVD in there to check that it still works. But I discovered that it was broken again when tried to insert a DVD-R to burn things on it and the computer only it spun and then ejected it. I've known this current problem since around mid-April.

I did some research on it and what I have read I believe that I must buy a cleaning disc and run it in my optical drive to clean the lens of the eye out, but I don't understand how I am able to read some disks and not others if that is the problem.

Can I take it again in the Apple Store and get it looked like or should I buy a cleaning disc and run it through my optical drive, and then decide what to do next? I'm in no hurry to get this problem fixed because my guarantee does not expire until the end of July this year.

I don't know why you want to put some words in BOLD and a few words in normal font. Frankly I find it a bit annoying when someone does something like that, but oh well... what you could do is to try a cleaning disc (the one with little brushes this topic) or a good breath of air compressed. In addition, some brands of DVD - R Virgin do not work as well as others. I found verbatim to be good, maybe maxell or Taiyo Yuden. Your mileage may vary...

If this still does not work, feel free to zap the pram x 2-3) and do an smc reset. Shut down the computer, plug power adapter, hold down the left shift, control, option, and button works / stop for about 45 seconds, let go of all of them, then press the power button to restart. If none of this works, then by all means to make a genius bar appointment and bring it in to your local Apple store. Hey, if you have an extended warranty, might as well use it, right?

    Good luck

  • Re: Satellite A210-12U: Mat * a DVD - RAM UJ-8505 will not read discs - error Code 39

    Hello.

I've had my A210-12U for about five months now, and recently for the past few months I had some problems with the dvd player.

The thing is that the player will not play all discs, the drive will detect that a disc has been inserted, but it will not read. It happened for about a month but its only recently I really know whats been wrong with it.

The drive I currently use is a CARPET * A DVD - RAM UJ-8505 ATA

I scanned the disk for problems with the support toshiba but utility that came with something so I decided to check the drivers.

Windows Vista gave this Message: Windows cannot load the driver for this hardware device. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

I uninstalled the drivers and drivers on there and installed new ones that I downloaded here on the toshiba site.

What I really want to know is: is this a problem with the drivers? is it a case that the operating system does not detect the hardware? or is this a situation where I should have the disk fixed on its guarantee?

Hi, can someone help (first timer) I have two cd/dvd drives will read / write to disk get them all is a window pops up asking me to insert the disc. all my drivers are up to date, my Device Manager shows two active drives and works correctly, I use service pack 2 and I have installed a new software/hardware. my computer is a dell XPS 420 that is now three years old and this is the first time that I had any problem that I have not been able to solve. Help!

    Hello

Its not unusual for the same problem have an impact on both drives, in fact its very common.

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
    below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    Hello

Used speed, the actual brand of discs, burning and if file Live or mastered all come into play.

You have disk problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD burning and)
Playback of CD and DVD). So it is not unusual for parts from 1 or 2 to not work so that others do
    correctly.

Burning at low speed, or by using the master could help. A CD/DVD cleaner might help.

CD/DVDs have a tolerance + - and your can read/write on the edge outside these discs
tolerances. They may be delivered, but it is generally more economical to replace the disk.
