DVD writer will not burn disks in XP Pro...
I'm having a problem with a recently re-installed Windows XP Pro (in fact, Media Center Edition 2005, updated with SP3). I can not burn DVD at all; I've tried three different readers of verified and made a 'repair installation' to the BONE, but no dice.
In 'My computer', the drive (SATA, Samsung SH-S223C drive) presents itself as "DVD - RAM Drive (E :) ', but when I insert a blank DVD-R media, the name changes to 'CD Drive (e)' and pushes me, as usual, to open an accessible folder writable.). If I open the drive in the Solution Explorer, controls do not show that it can be "written". The same thing happens with two other known readers, who are all two PATA interfaces.
In the "Properties" for the reader, "Enable CD writing for this drive" is checked. In Computer Services, "IMAPI CD burning... '. ' is running.
I tried various checked drives and different brands of media (known to be good on the other PC), so the problem must be in the OS somewhere. I can't run the "Fixit" tool, because it invites me to .NET Framework 2.0 or later version, and I've got .NET Framework 4 already installed (what is yet another problem?).
Any help would be appreciated.

Dimension 4550 DVD-ROM and DVD-RAM will not read disks
My daughter has a Dimension 4550. The engraver has recently left working, so we replaced it with a Lite-On DH-20A4P-08 DVD - RAM drive. We played a couple of moview and a CD on the new drive. Today the old DVD-ROM new DVD-RAM both refuse to recognize that a disc is in the disc (DVD or CD); He says: no disc in the drive. We have checked the cable connections and updated the driver for the new drive with no luck. We also tried the Dell store without success.
Any other ideas?

Hello
What about different DVD media? Have you tested the media DVD-R or DVD + R common?
Have you tried different brands of DVD?
I can't give you a properly answer why the drive can't burn your DVD - RW, but to my knowledge not every media is supported by the player.
So I think you should check different DVDs. -

If your computer has a CD or DVD burner, you can copy files to a recordable disc. This process is called burning a disc. Windows Burns discs in the active file system format or in ISO image format, depending on which disc format you choose.

My HP Presario f 700 laptop does not recognize my CD/DVD drive and will not burn or play CDs or DVD movies.
I have a lightscribe, CD/DVD player, and I started having problems about a month ago... I tried to burn a lightsribe CD and my computer told me that I didn't have a CD Lightscribe drive (I!)... then when I just tried to burn the music on the CD, he didn't do it either... Finally a week ago, I tried to play a movie on my laptop, and that does not work either.
When I insert in the film or the cd, the drive lights up and I can hear the work, but it is as if she has no connection with my laptop and my laptop is not picking up the CD/DVD drive try to play a movie or a cd.
A friend suggested that I go to the HP website and am trying to download a driver, but I didn't know what to do once I got to this website, and I don't know if it will work.
If you know how to solve this problem, or if you have had a similar problem with your computer, please help, thank you.

TSST TS-L632 will not burn a DVD
TSST TS-L632 will load a DVD and DVD to show, but even after trying the new firmware it will not burn. Also I tried new DVDs and I tried Opti Drive Control and it does not create a test disc. ConvertXtoDVD goes through the process to the end, but does not burn the DVD. No error message appears.Hi DeputydD,
If Dell diagnostics failed, then you need to replace the DVD drive. They are fairly easy to find for your model laptop and pretty inexpensive ($25-40).

Help, please!
I bought a writer of CD/DVD Toshiba SD-R5372 a couple of months. I had it installed by a pc repair shop. When I gathered my computer that they don't give me not all discs pilot etc... for the product. They say now that they do not have the disks.
My problem is that I recently had to reformat my hard drive due to problems with viruses etc... Although windows argues that it recognizes my DVD burner and it plays DVDs fine, but it will not burn them. They tell me that it could be a driver problem and searched the site of Toshiba, in circles, but can't seem to find the drivers for my product.
Can someone please help?Thank you
Hello
As far as I know that it is not necessary to install a driver. The device should be recognized by the operating system. If there is a burning problem, I really put t think that this may be caused by wrong driver.
I put t know what media you can use with this camera, but please be careful about this. If you want to try to use Nero software of engraving. It is very easy to use and there is also a small tool called Nero info tool. You can use it to pick up all the info on your drive.Good bye

Windows Media Player will not burn my files!
Media Player from my window will not burn my files on my blank CD rom. I add what I want in the colum burn and then I click on button (start burning) and try to start burning but 10 seconds later, it ejects my blank CD songs and pop of the screen upward to say that... (Windows media player cannot burn the files. If the burner is busy, wait until the current task is complete. If necessary, check that the burner is connected properly and that you have installed the latest device driver.) Please help me and understand what to do! Thank you
Hey Tashina_Jean,
Here are a few things to try:
1. make sure that the disc is clean.
2. Select a recording speed (write) more slow for the CD burner (recorder).
3. try a different brand of blank discs.
4. stop all other programs that are running.
5 disable any programs that could activate themselves, while burning is in progress, such as screensavers or anti-virus programs.
6. defragment your hard drive.
Links: what please refer:
To reduce the burn speed:

I saw that there are many other positions on this, and although I found others who had descriptions which were similar to mine, the patch did not work.
My specs:
Windows 7 64-bit SP1
H8 HP desktop PC - 1360t
My optical drive: DH16ACSHR
My driver for the optical drive is the cdrom.sys, the version of the file: 6.1.7601.17514, date 21/06/2006 driver
When I bought my computer, I did a clean install of Windows 7 64-bit. A ran all updates at once and drive perfectly serious. A few weeks later, it will not burn. I use Windows to burn simply .pdf files, and it gets to the point where it says 'burn', but after I click on burn the dialog box disappears. The drive makes noise and rotates the disk and writes data to it, but the dialog box never pops up or check the disk. It shows no more burn % completeness. If I try to remove the disc, the drive does not open. If I open with a paper clip, because the disk rotates, it sure is beating sounds and jams. When I open the drive and the drive, the drive clearly has written data to, but it cannot be read by other readers. It just says: the disc is no longer a Virgin, but I cannot see what is on it.
I HAVE ALREADY TRIED:
Remove/uninstall the driver
Checking the registry entry for the upper and lower entrances, THERE ARE NONE
Being run/scannow - Windows comes up saying that it could not find any problems, all right.
Update driver - he says I have the latest driver
Roll back the driver - he says that there is no driver installed previously
I had a HP Office before a different model and exactly the same thing happened then. When I first came to this other, it burns very well, so I thought that maybe it was a problem with the previous machine... but then after a few weeks it started doing the same thing.
I'm confused because when I look at the release date for the driver, it's super old, and he says it's the latest version... but Microsoft lists 50 updates to it at least between then and now, some of them as recently as June. I can't seem to find a way to download this driver common windows by itself and install it this way or the other.
I refuse to do a complete reinstall because I do not think that it will solve the problem more than temporarily. Within the company, it is the fourth total office with what has happened, and whenever we do a clean install, it works at first but then goes back to the same problem again.
Hoping someone has an idea where I can get a newer than 2006 for this device driver.
