Dimension 5000 HDD speed

I currently have a 250 GB HDD SATA I. (1.5 Gbit / s)

OK, here's what I want to do. I want to accelerate the speed of access/write on the HARD disk:

* Dimension 5000 motherboard is able to use the SATA II 3 Gbps speed?

* If I plug a second HDD, can I use it in RAID 0 with my existing HARD drive?

(Note: I just updated the bios and I'm still not a table option, just normal/mixed.)

  • Upgrade of dimension 5000 with 1 GB of video

I have an old Dimension 5000 here which was a Euro version 5100/5150/E510... series date back to the time. It still does a life more decent job running Windows 10 for anything games, so internet, office light etc...

Here's the question: it was once upgraded with a 512 MB GeForce MSI slot PCI-E x 16 without problem. Trying to run a 1 GB card but turns out to be a problem.  Tested both until this new Geforce GT 710 - a passive MSI and a PNY with cooler fan - would cause the machine to Rev up the fan on the CPU for a few seconds before posting the "alert!" PCI Express card works in X 1 mode"message when starting. After hitting the F1, everything is normal. They are still rising 'usable memory' under Windows/System, which was one of the goals of this upgrade.

Re-seating cards several times into the slot has not made a difference. The machine has the latest BIOS v07 and has been improved with a peak of 350W/400W PSU.

The theories here? I do not understand why there is a compatibility issue with the 1 GB cards.  I noticed minor differences in the provisions of the PIN between the 3 cards, but they are all designed for any compatible mobo PCI-E with a x 16 slot.

    TIA

Several versions XFX have heat sinks that are TOO LONG and TOO FAT to physically enter the case.

Asus units adapt to all dells except USFF which has no slots.

  • Dell Dimension 5000 replacement PSU

I have a Dell Dimension 5000 bought in 2005, still under Windows XP.

After being off for a week, I recently tried it lights up, but got only a flashing orange power button. After reading this thread I tried to jump the power supply to the power connector motherboard from green to black as suggested, and nothing lit. So I guess that the PSU is dead and must be replaced.

I also read this thread a person with a similar problem.  My power supply model number is L305P-00 and reference number 5032 (CN - 0d 5032-71615-513-06BE), exit 305 w, and it has a connector ATX 24, 2 SATA connectors, etc..

I'm hoping to replace the PC soon, so don't want to spend too much on the power supply. Corsair were recommended as a good brand, but they are quite expensive, so I was wondering if this PSU Novatech would be suitable? I think they're a renowned brand. They sell as well others and I don't know what the difference between each one, apart from the power and the fact that some are not modular, other semi or fully modular.

The Novatech £19.99 would be good enough to get my PC up and running again, or that others would recommend?

Dimension 5000 does not use a power supply owner Dell, most of the blocks of ATX power supply with a 24 pins, power connector 4-pin main card mother 20 + or with, or can be used without the power switch, a power supply with two SATA and molex power two connectors 4 pin is necessary.

You should be able to buy a replacement power in a store of the local computer or online.

The Novatech 500W ATX Power Supply, as shown in your link should work...

  • Replacement of power SUPPLY Dell Dimension 5000 block

Hi - I have a Dell Dimension 5000 (around 2005) with a duff ATX PSU.

Dell p/n is CN-OC5201-17972-51R-1CNV and the model # is N305P-00

I looked on this forum and the recommended not only equivalent Dell PSU (Antec TRUEPOWERII IPTI-430 430W ATX12V 2.01 Power Supply) does not seem to be available (UK).

Does anyone know of a compatible brand/model power supply that I can replace my diet duff with or where I can get a direct replacement from DELL for a reasonable price?

I think my power supply DELL has these connectors:

P1 - power of card mother ATX 24-pin
    P2 - 4 motherboard power PIN
    P3 - 4 SATA connector
    P5 - Ditto
    P7 - connector floppy 4pin
    P8 - 4 Molex power connector pin
    P9 - Ditto

    Any help would be appreciated...

    Thank you

Corsair is an excellent brand of food, with a good warranty

The Corsair CX 400W ATX2.2 Power Supply, would be compatible with the Dimension 5000.

  • Dimension 5000 graphics card update.

    Hi, thanks for reading.

I have the map of X300SE graphics by default for the Dell Dimension 5000 but want to update the map.
As you may know, the PSU has 305 w and isn't a thing of connector 6 pin.

I am currently interested in the Sapphire HD 4670 Ultimate Edition but I was wondering if it is compatible.

    Thank you very much.

    Nodame.

PS - I understand that this is not the right place to post, but I have one last question on the installation of a second hard drive.
I wonder if the Dimension 5000 is compatible with SATA-II hard drives? It requires no jumpers or is it just plug/install and format and go?

    Thank you very much.

Hi Nodame. Your manual is HERE. Cards that would take yoiur system are the 9500GT, 9600GT and the map of your after, the ATI 4670. Manufactors overstate the power for their cards a dell underestimate the power in their PSU. With respect to the hard disk, yes a SATA - he's will work in this system, everything that you have to buy is the SATA data cable. An additional power connector should already be in your system. Here is a link to the 4600 series ati.

  • Add the Second controller IDE for Dell Dimension 5000

We have a Dell Dimension 5000 that has proved to be a very capable workhorse.

Since buying it we have replaced the DVD burner with a more quick/tough, added an IDE hard drive and added a second SATA hard drive.

We would now like to add an another DVD burner or another hard drive IDE - anyway we need more IDE connections.

Can we just add an another IDE controller in one of the free PCI slots?

Will any make/model or someone at - it recommendations?

  • Dimension 5000 - DVD

    Hello

I'm a learner when it comes to my computer so please 'talk' to me in terms real simple.

I bought my Dell Dimension 5000 in February 2005.  I have been download my digital photos and did some backup with CD RW.  However, there are far too many pictures and that it would take about 40 CDs all of them downloaded then someone suggested that I have burn on a DVD.

When I returned to the United Kingdom (am living in the Dom Rep) I bought a DVD-RW and the guy asked if my system used 'positive' or 'negative' DVD - this flumoxed me!  I guessed "positive", whatever that means.  I tried to burn my pictures on the DVD, but it does not work (I can watch DVDs and can burn CDs without problem).

I bought the wrong DVD, do I need to install something on my computer to burn DVDs? Please help this dimwit... :(

    Thank you

  • Qosmio F10 - HDD speed

I plan to buy the Qosmio F10 with 100 GB hd... does anyone have experience with the speed of the hard drive, it's a 100 GB HD or a 60 and a 40. ??

    HI Rood,

I have no experience with the new HDD 100 GB but foud, I had some practical information.

The Qosmio f10-122 (sold in Italy) built in a 100 GB HARD drive at 5400 RPM.

Theoretical, a 100 GB HARD drive is a little slower than a 60 or 80 GB HDD at 5400 RPM.

    Hop this helps you.

    Goodbye Tom

  • Satellite L100-122 - burst HDD speed is low

    Hello

I test my disc drive (Toshiba L100-122, HARD drive MK6034GSX) HARD with HD Tach and I see that the burst speed is approximately 35 - 40 MB/s. Each disc HARD anothers (but no Toshiba HDD) burst speed around 80 - 90 MB/s. Why Toshiba has this low burst speed and is this important parameter for efficiency? I asked a Polish Service Toshiba first but they are not able to answer me.

    Kind regards
    ZS

This is not true. Not every HARD disk has a higher burst speed.
The burst speed tests the efficacy of the cache memory subsystem and measures speed of drive interface, and the controller hard.
The burst speed depends on different factors.
As said, the hard drive, but also the control interface is important. HARD drive runs at 5400 RPM. There is a max value. It runs slowly if the cache is fully charged. Currently IDE Ultra DMA/66 drives can reach 66 MB/s but this is not a fixed value.
I don't know how test you it, but perhaps some 3rd party applications accessed the HARD drive during the tests.

PS: The L100 supports an interface serial ata 1. 0a.

  • ATI 8800 vs Quadro 4000 / 5000 rendering speed

    Fellow Forum members,

I will build a system to run Premiere Pro at its optimum level.  However, the conflict I meet concerns Quad Monitor Support.  Each CUDA card offered by Nvidia (i.e., GTX 580, Quadro 4000, 5000, 6000) appear to offer only taken supported dual monitor.  The third mini HDMI port is worthless since it does not work with two DVI ports.  Not happy with Nvidia on this decision.

I build a 64-bit Windows 7 system and it is my understanding that if I want to run first Pro CS5 using the Mercury engine to speed up rendering, then the only game in town is a Nvidia Quadro graphics card.  I wouldn't have a problem with that if Nvidia would provide that a video card with Quad Monitor support like ATI did with 8800 card that they sell.

So my question is, "Premiere Pro return at the same speed on an ATI card 8800 vs a Quadro 4000/5000?"  If the answer is Yes, then I'll buy the 8800 ATI since this card supports 4 monitors.  If the answer is that the 8800, ATI is slightly slower with rendering, then I buy always a 8800 ATI since a slight difference in the rendering does not matter that much to me.   However, if the answer is that Premiere Pro on an ATI 8800 serioiusly disabled.  Then, I have a problem, because I really want to support four monitors and Premiere Pro to render quickly.

I hope hear from Premiere Pro users who have used Premiere Pro on platforms equipped with 8800 ATI or Nvidia 4000 or 5000.  Have you noticed any performance change between ATI 8800 and Quadros? Thanks in advance.

    > "Premiere Pro return at the same speed on an ATI card 8800 vs a Quadro 4000/5000?"

Mentioned Nvidia cards offer features of CUDA processing a lot of things one - part of a lot of speed.

See this thread for more details on the treatment of CUDA.

    Hello

You can use compatible hard drives as you like. I would recommend an ssd instead of a 7200 RPM hard drive in the system. Then a hdd to 500 GB for data. Go to the website of drivers and software HP for laptop and are looking for a maintenance and care guide in the manuals. It has listed all the compatible components, including hard drive sizes and rpm. You can also see what cart should be used (part number) and to find it on ebay worldwide...

    Hi all

does anyone know of a tool to check my HARD drive? Or did someone knows if we can read the S.M.A.R.T. information off the HARD drive firmware? I heard that the S.M.A.R.T. information can indicate if the HARD drive is faulty?

Advice on diagnostic tool would be great to have!

  • Dell Dimension 2350 HDD Upgrade

    Hi people,

First post here, so go easy on me!

My machine, as indicated above, has the original 60 GB hard disk (delivered in January 2003), and everything is OK.  However, one of my friends bought a Hitachi 7K 160 160 GB 3.5 sister "PATA hard drive internal to his pc, which is longer needed.  This corresponds to the element.  Can I use it on my D2350?  Updates only that I did to my machine are a RAM (1 GB) and of course XP to SP3.

I have the disks of resettlement came with the pc and reinstall XP drive is SP1.

I read that the 2350's origin comes with 120 GB of disks hard max?  As my BIOS has not been upgraded since, it would be able to handle a capacity of 160 GB?

I'd appreciate it really all advice offered.

Yes, this disc will work in your 2350. You will need support to keep the player, which can be easily found by searching online.

  • 7B BSOD error, 8400 and not able to boot from the disc...

Hey, I'm workin on a dimension 8400 friends, and his pc yesterday gave a bsod Unmountable_boot_volume for the first time. now, for some reason any, that he was not able to load up on disk xp on his pc, it would just freeze, so I took the hard drive and it brought to my Dimension 5000 and did a CHKDSK Fixboot on it, and it loads perfectly fine on my pc (although none of my drivers are installed (, as well so that I can use any hardware...)

in any case, I brought back th hdd in its 8400, put it in and got a new BSOD, 7B, which is right after u see a glow of the XP loading screen.

Now I tried to put in the xp disk, but its hard drives are not recognized by the pc and won't boot anything. I'm not really sure what to do...

At my disposal, I have a SATS 3.5 external connector, I can do anything to fix it on usb should be...

    If the ideas please?
