direct compression in FCPX?

I have an old video of SD 640 x 480 I need to annotate and index with chapter markers. It's easy to do with FXPX, but I need some advice on the best way to export the finished product. Ideally, I would like to save it by using a compression option 'passthrough' like the one available in QT7 Pro, passing the video source through without recompression. FCPX does not offer this option and do not offer any direct control over recompression as QT7 Pro did. It seems to offer only the following limited range of fixed re-compression options, named according to the scheduled display device:

'computer' that produces a file mp4 with about 4 MB/sec

'web', which produces a file mov with around 2 MB/sec

"AppleDevice," which produces a file m4v to approximately 1 Mbps

My source material is H.264 with 1.63 MB/sec, so the 'web' option may be my best bet. "AppleDevice" would be more to compress the video, while that "computer" would blow upwards the size significantly. I wonder, though, if the Mbit/sec 4 compression would do much better reproduce the existing video as compression of 2 Mbit/s will be?

What I hope really, because, I suppose, is that FCPX offers a non-obvious to exercise more control over the compression settings of output that it seems to offer, or if not, how to add chapters and export the result with a minimal of re-compression degradation.

Sorry, but there is no non-obvious way.  Final Cut is not an option of "pass-through". The project is recompressed when exporting. You are right in your assumption that higher the nit, the higher will be the quality. If you go to recompress the file exported, I suggest to choose Audio and video to the Format and Pro Res 422 or LT as a codec. Otherwise, the other Format settings are probably OK.

  • GoPro on a Workflow FCPX

Hello - I found a lot of conflicting answers about this so was hoping I could get this confirmed: is imported directly from GoPro FCPX is going to give you the same quality as in GoPro studio first, import export until. MOV and then use it in FCPX?

Some answers that I say because of the conversion will be GoPro Studio will result in a higher quality file but other answers I've seen suggest import images directly from GoPro and selecting "Optimized" is just as good.

I would be interested to know what everyone uses to achieve the best video quality GoPro and FCPX.

    Thank you

ITI will be the same. There is a huge amount of outdated information on the web, much of it without no date stamp.

  • I can blur a picture directly in FCPX edges?

I know that I can do in Photoshop and then load the photo in FCPX, but I was wondering if there is a way to do it directly in FCPX (in the sense that it can blur the edges of the dark background image)

The answer is definitely yes--but if or not it's better to do it in Photoshop depends a lot on your workflow.

You'll probably need to use two instances of the photo, on the other:

You can, for example, apply Gaussian blur of the picture from the bottom and apply it to a shape or draw the mask to the top, and control feathering

the mask to get a nice smooth transition from the Center targeted to the fuzzy edges:

  • Can I burn an AVCHD Disc in fcpX with a bluray burner

I'm having trouble sharing a 3 or 24 minutes of video on a BluRay disc and then insert a DVD-R in the bluray burner to burn an AVCHD Disc. fcpX shot of it and said "of the media in the drive cannot be used. " Please insert another disc. ». And Cancel burning is the only option.

I deleted all the files of rendering and a new rendering, rebooted etc.. I think remember me burning AVCHD discs directly from fcpX before, maybe a year ago. Are updates screwed up, or we cannot burn AVCHD discs in fcpx?

Then, with TOAST 10.0.09, when I create a master file as. FcpX h264 and then import to TOAST and burn BluRay disc with a DVD-R in it, TOAST now move to it also, saying there is a problem with the source material, 18771 error.

Fortunately the bluray discs are much cheaper now, right now for purposes of test/video editing, I have to go to the full monty and burn a disc bluray each time to avoid the relentless crash in the process.

Yes. But the PCF expects the output of a reader optics red laser (DVD writer), not a blue laser drive. Try using a regular DVD burner for AVCHD.

  • How to compress videos easily in Photos?

Is there a way to compress easily videos directly in the Photos, for example, by using a plugin or script Automator?

I think I know how to do it the long way (video, compress in Quicktime 7, or a similar tool, as the re - import), but it's too heavy for me, I have dozens of videos. (Yes, I really don't need them in quality, in that the iPhone has taken the videos.)

I already looked on the app store, does not.

    Advice will be appreciated.

    Best regards

    Gabriel.

As far as my knowledge goes, it's not plugin or script Automator to compress the videos directly. You need to download a video compression software and then compress it manually, without which you would not be able to do.

If I have such information in this regard, it will update it.

    Thank you.

  • Incorporating images of dvd FCPX

    Hello

A friend had some films she had done years ago, scanned by a process that makes DVD. I want to bring them into FCPX, export, and post on YouTube for her.

    What is my process?

BTW, someone said it was easy to do with iMovie. True? If so, looks like it could easily be done in FCPX.

    The best

    Elmer

This may be a stupid answer, but have you thought uplaoding directly to YouTube or is he editing as you can in Final Cut Pro. Because there is a new youtube editor which allows you to merge all of the videos. I know that's not the answer you are looking for but I have not used DVDs over the years and can not help.

  • NAS work with FCPX and external drives?

I use a Mac Pro 2013, 3.7 Ghz Quad Core, 16 mHz Ram with 512 GB of internal storage, AMD over-pants D500. My employer also purchased a Synology DS415 + as my storage with 12 TB of HARD drive space.

Now, I try to install FCPX and Motion 5 as my zero external because the machine has only 512 GB internal. But the problems lies in that the Synology's NAS still FCPX he sees not as my drive to zero. The NAS is connected to the network and I can access it via the NAS software but it does not appear on my desktop as an external drive even if I directly connected via USB 3.0 (A - A). I read on the website that if I connect it to the Mac via USB 3.0, it will appear as an external drive on my desk, but that does not happen. USB port on both units are USB - A (male?)

And so my question: someone has their 2013 Pro Mac connected to a NAS for mounting on FCPX? And how do I set up mine to do what I hope? I searched the web HI & lo, nothing helped, and I have a feeling that I won't like the answer.

Thank you in advance. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

External drives no longer appear on the default desktop.

Finder > Preferences, select the option to display on the desktop under the general tab.

I do not know if that will solve your problem in FCP X, but it could explain why he is not on the desktop.

I think that FCPX will be unhappy if you try to use a disk on the network, he really needs a fast connection, USB3 should work, but I think that ethernet can be slow because it is a shared environment.

  • Burn a BluRay FCPX disorders

    10.2.3 FCPX

    OS X El Capitan 10.11.5

I am trying to burn on the bluray directly from FCPX. It is 66% and then stops. See create disk on my toolbar, but it turns into "not responding" immediately after. I tried some of the troubleshooting techniques (FCPX restart, restart the computer to burn a different project to make all of the media, to add a logo and remove in the settings, etc.) but it will not cross the 66% and create disc stalls. Normally, he finally launched through after having tried one of the myriad of random options but I'm on my 20th burn and no luck.

I don't have a compressor, I'm hoping to find someone who has a vision a little on how they corrected it at their end.

Thanks for your time and your help.

The background image can be a problem.

Make sure that the dimensions are the same or smaller than the size of the export.

    Ditto for the other fields.

Also, try to make a disk rather than directly on Bluray disc image.

  • When FCPX will accept the M2Tfiles?

When will he be able to accept FCPX M2T files. I'm sure Im not the only one who ask this.

I have to go to a third party to transfer an acceptable file and then import into FCPX.

I'm actually using FCP7 on another Mac and transfer my files here bringing them to FCPX. Ugh!

Please consider adding this to FCPX. El Capitan 10.11.4 operating system

    Thank you

. M2T can be many things. It is a MPEG-2 transport stream file. It is not designed for production, originally for the delivery only and now used for the acquisition, not for production. Don't know what format and codec you are talking about, but most of the formats common acquisition, such as those used by Sony, when handled properly from the medium of origin or one archive media will import directly into FCP when a Sony plugin is installed. No external third-party conversion software is required if properly taken into account.

  • FCPX 'turns' MP4-XAVC-S in. MOV on import

    Hello

I tried to import some media (recorded on a Sony a6000) XAVC-S in the final cut when I noticed something odd.

If I import media directly from the map, FCPX "turns" the media in. MOV files. If, on the other hand, I move MP4 XAVC-S (only the.) MP4 and not the. XML files) then it is important as long as not MOV and MP4. Anyone know what is happening and what is recommend it import method (for better quality)?

In both cases I chose "copy to library" and has not chosen any transcoding, analyzes the keywords or audio/video.

    I'm working on FCPX 10.2.3.

This is the correct behavior. When you import from the map, or better out of an archive of the camera, the media are re-tensioned for QuickTime. That's what you need to do. Do not use the MPEG-4 files.

  • FCPX - captured live from a remote camera?

Experience scientific, a little dangerous.  I have a Sony FS700 camera trained on experience.  I want to be able to run a USB cable from the camera to a control booth closed about 20 feet.  I want to be able to control the camera from a Macbook Pro.  I also wonder if there is a way to capture data that is ensuites directly into the computer (on an external hard drive) using the may output HDMI Cable? ... I remember that old Final Cut get live data from a camera.

    FCPX do something like that?

Or maybe someone has a suggestion how it could be done?

    All ears,

    Ben

FCP X cannot capture alive from a camera via USB. In fact, USB does not have the live video from the camera anyway, so no software can't.

You can take the output of the camera, but you would need a HDMI input device. The HDMI on the MBP is for * output *, do not input.

If you get a device like BlackMagic UltraStudio MiniRecorder, then you can use the BlackMagic software save and then import the resulting in FCP X film.

PS: Really you run 10.6.8? What model is your MBP?

  • Idle smoothly in FCPX with GoPro

I am trying to import 60 p (59,98 fps) images of the GoPro in FCPX.  I want my project to 24 p.  But it's just not good - it is super nervous to research.  Here is what I tried:

1 import directly from the camera.

    2 create a 24 p timeline.

3 drag and drop the images.

4 speed automatic (goes to 40%).

    5 images seems hectic.

    6. apply rate Conform and tried all the options.

I also did the above, but exported GoPro studio first.  Exactly the same result.

How do I leave my GoPro smooth slow motion?

    Thank you

    Johnny

You make? You see this on FCP X chronology or also on the exported sequence?
