  I have a HP Probook 6550 b and just downloaded/installed the latest version of HP Hotkey support on Windows 7 Enterprise (64-bit) to allow my keyboard shortcuts work correctly.

  I noticed there is a pop up on the screen every time num/caps/ScrollLock lights, how can I disable this?

  It is very annoying because I travel often in and out of the machine virtual windows and the OSD keeps popping up in the corner of my eye all the time.

  Thank you.  I'll do it and change my Windows Update settings.  BUT, FYI, in an act even more incredible, the same night I posted my question here, my computer was said upload, and I was still in place at 03:00 (when Windows is set to d/l and install updates).  I went to the kitchen for a bit and returned to my computer to find a countdown - he downloaded updates and "will re-start in 7 minutes" or so and counting down...   o click Start, type "Device Manager" and press enter
  o developing the "Mice and other pointing devices" and "Keyboards" sections
  o a click with the right button on Synaptics PS/2 Port TouchPad
  o selected Update driver Software

  Fix has been found and downloaded.
  Restarted

  o - material and audio selected control panel - mouse
  o there is now a "TouchPad settings" tab
  o click on TouchPad settings (tab)
  o select settings of TouchPad - Tapping is (should be) not controlled

  -Problem solved.

  I had the same problem with XPS 17 my wife.    I needed to restore basic functionality so that disabling the touch screen was acceptable.     However, unlike samie (but like you) I didn't "Use your finger as input" option in the control panel.

  I tried to disable the device N-Trig driver in Device Manager, but the pilot did not appear to have be properly installed (after the upgrade from win7)

  I went on the N-Trig (http://www.n-trig.com/Content.aspx?Page=Downloads_Drivers) driver download site and download the new drivers for windows 8 (I have the feeling that they weren't here last week).

  I then when options "Device Manager" on the "Hardware and Sound" page of the control panel.

  In the Device Manager screen, I saw a node N-trig DuoSense digitizers with several below subnode (before dev driver install it there was only one).
