    Hi Bob,

This behavior of user account control is by design, and you can change it by adjusting the parameters of the UAC.

User Account Control (UAC) can help prevent your computer from unauthorized changes. UAC notifies you when changes will be made to your computer that require administrator-level permissions. These types of changes can affect the security of your computer or can affect settings for other people who use the computer. We recommend that you leave UAC to help your computer course.

By default, UAC is set to warn you as soon as apps try to make changes to your PC, but you can change how often UAC notifies you.

I'm having a problem with the user account control.  It appears each time I run a program, even if my settings are different.  How can I fix?

    Hi Clukin,

Thanks for choosing Microsoft Community Forums.

According to the description, I understand that you have a problem with user account control in Windows 7.

To help better please answer these questions:

    1. do you use the administrator account?

    2. the problem occurs with specific program or the whole?

    3. what anti-virus program do you use?

4 did you do changes on the computer before the show?

I suggest you follow the method provided to fix the problem:

Method 1: You can not change the settings on Windows 7 (UAC) user account control

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/978591

Method 2: Turn off the antivirus software

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-GB/Windows7/disable-antivirus-software

Important note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

  • Why do some executable programs require Windows Vista user account control to start, while others do not?

For example, Iobit Advanced System Care 6 requires user account control to start, while none of the programs Microsoft Office requires user account control to start, but they are all executables (*.exe).  Why?

EXE files may have a small text file embedded in them that controls this behavior (and other). A file called programname.manifest in the same folder can do it too, but one stand-alone exe substitute manifests (vista and later).

Here is one that requires the Admin run and also uses 6 worm of the common controls.

    Hi hlsmlane,

Welcome to the Windows Vista Forums answers.

Some applications, such as applications to be internal or non-Microsoft products, require the full administrator access token to perform at least some of their functions or tasks, but have not been identified as applications administrator by the developer or Publisher. In this case, you can use the following procedure to mark an application so that the operating system always requires the use of a full administrator access token.

Important: you cannot mark an application to bypass the message user account control.

To perform the following procedure, you must be able to connect with or provide the credentials of a member of the local Administrators group.

To mark an application to always require a full administrator access token

1 right click on an application that is likely to require a full administrator access token, but has not been marked as such.

2 click Properties and then click the Compatibility tab.

    3. under privilege level, select run this program as an administrator check box, and then click OK.

Note: If the run this program as an administrator option is unavailable, it means that the application is blocked from always running with administrator credentials, the application does not require any administrator credentials to run, or you are not connected to the computer as an administrator.

    Hi JosephDoherty,

UAC (User Account Control) notifies you when changes will be made to your computer that require administrator-level permissions.

You can try to change UAC settings and see if it helps.

Note: You must restart your computer when you enable or disable UAC. Change levels of notification does not require that you restart your computer.

Important: Turn on UAC after you complete the steps.
