  Pictures needs the original image file. This is to show you a preview in the browser, but to edit or export the photo of the original, file full resolution must be found.

  I imported about 50 photos from my SD card. iPhoto said that the import is complete. I deleted some pictures from my SD card. IPhoto then said that my photos were unreadable. Placeholders with the exclamation point will appear in my most recent import tab. They appear sometimes for a while and then disappear (see photo below).

  What should I do? I already repaired and rebuild my photo database. The problem persists.

  Is there a way to recover the photos from my SD card? I did take pictures since.

  You run a library "Managed" or "referenced"?

  

  If it "referenced" then Photos looking for the images on the memory card, which is no longer available sources.

  You can recover photos from memory card with applications like MediaRECOVER, CardRescue, EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard or PhotoRecovery.

  If you use a library "managed" the exclamation point is an indication that the link between the thumbnail and the original file has been broken. In this case, try the following:

  1 - Launch iPhoto with the command and Option keys to open the window of first aid. Don't forget to follow the recommendation circle in the screenshot.

  

  2 - Apply the Option #4, rebuild the database.

  Restore the photos removed from the album "recently deleted".

  The key combination command + delete ⌘⌫ will actually delete the photos from your library, not only to remove it from the album.  If you want to remove photos from albums, only the delete key, not use command-DELETE.
