Discs E130 / mSATA

Hello

I would like to know if the ThinkPad Edge E130 supports mSATA disks or not? Model number is 3358 - 37G.

Thanks in advance.

If they can use mSATA, then there is no limitation, Lenovo has only specific mSATA, which is only available as a cache.

    Hello, everyone!
I'm living in Russia. Some time ago I bought the thinkpad edge e130 with core i3 3227U and 500 GB hard drive.
This laptop has port vacuum mSATA. I know I can install ssd as a cache.
But I want to use 128 GB ssd drive and install windows 7 pro 64 bit on it (and leave 500 GB hard drive to keep the files it contains).
    How can I do this?

Hi I install a disc hard msata in my hp elitebook 2570p.

You can not. There is no slot for a storage mSATA device. There is a WWAN slot next to the WLAN slot that resembles an mSATA slot, but is not on this laptop:

  • problem of installing a drive mSata

    Hello

just recently bought a X220tablet and very happy with it. Did not work much on it because I was planning to install a player mSata with windows 8 on it and then really start using it.

So, I bought a disc crucial msata and made the instalation of psycical in the cell, which went well. It was not difficult.

But now the software. What I've done so far:

-makes a backup of the HARD drive (with windows 7 on it) and make it bootable on USB HDD

    -removed HARD drive

-start the laptop and started the rescue and recovery program.

-tried to restore the system, but this one went with difficulties: the show told me that the backup has been big for the size of the SSD. She had an abortion.

-Now, when I try to start the laptop, I get the windows Boot Manager screen. He told me to get windows 7 cd, and performing.

This is how it is now. Put the HARD return drive, does not. I think that the SSDS was simply not installed right and now gives this problem.

I wonder what to do now. Note that I don't have an external DVD drive.

Should I buy one? Buy windows 8 cd, run that and everything will be fine? Or are there other ways to solve my problem?

thnx in advance for any toughts.

    Hi timpel,.

While I don't know if it's directly (or even indirectly) cause you have to go, there are a number of reports that the latest firmware in the m4 mSATA can cause the drive not to be recognized by the BIOS, including several users with ThinkPads.

    http://forums.crucial.com/T5/solid-state-drives-SSD/crucial-M4-MSata-01MG-firmware-issues/m-p/110572...

I recently bought a Crucial m4 mSATA and tried to install Windows 8 for her on my x220T. He was initially successful, recognized and installed, and stopped then recognized by the BIOS, with the warning "2101: Drive error detection on hdd2 (SATA mini).

You can check the firmware of your player by clicking Start > computer > right-click on the SSD drive, choose Properties > Hardware tab > in the list of all disk drives, select your SSD and click Properties > Details tab > in the title drop-down list, select the material ID. If you see ' 01 MG "to the right of the entry for your mSATA, you are on the latest firmware where problems may arise.

There were no announcements of new packages of Crucial yet... If you are within RMA for your mSATA, you might want to consider this option.

  • Update 24GB flash Cache hard drive for some other SSD acceleration

    Hello Experts,

    I plan to buy-

HP ENVY 15 t-j100 Quad Edition Notebook PC (ENERGY STAR)

    -With

    • 1 TB 5400 RPM hard drive
    • 24GB flash acceleration Cache hard drive

What can I upgrade (/replace) 24GB flash Cache acceleration of the drive with some other SSD whose greater storage size on the line after a few days? for example 240GB Crucial SSD?

    Thank you.

It's different. Any other animal. It looks like a wireless card. See below. What you could do with a standard 2.5-inch SSD is to replace the original main drive. If you could total of 240 concerts that would be OK. You will need to remove the disc from mSATA (aka WSSD) as it is useless in a WSSD Accelerator reader when you have a main SSD drive. I guess that I encourage you to wait and see how you like the stock configuration. The WSSD throttle control is very effective and can make even a 5400 RPM hard drive mechanics work almost as fast as an SSD.

  • Boot order does not

    Hello

I recently bought my first Acer laptop, the 572 R7.

I have a question about the order of starting Windows for Acer R7 572 with Msata disc and the original HD 1 TB at the same time.

I used successfully the method of retrieval USB key to install windows 8.1 a Samsung Evo 250 GB Msata disc (with 1 TB WD HD) removed.

I have re inserted HD 1 TB and could now use the boot (via ) menu to start either disk 250 GB Msata,.
or the original HD 1 TB and saw the two disks of Windows 8.1.

The problem I have is that by default (without using the start menu), the laptop still start on the original
    1 TB HD.

Is it possible to configure the laptop so it will start always from MSata disk with Windows 8.1 still installed

on the original HD 1 TB?

I was reading the various posts, and it seems that, in order to always start from the msata drive, I have to
format the hard disk of 1 TB to the original address. Can someone please confirm this and also please advise if there is
things to watch for when the HD 1 TB reformatting.

I prefer to keep the 8.1 Windows hard disk of 1 TB, but would be ready to format it if it is the only
way to have the drive msata as the main boot drive.

    Thank you

Just a note that I solved the problem for the benefits of others.

I used start to boot from the disc Msata menu and formatted the D drive (it's actually one of the partitions on the disk of 1 TB). When I started the laptop, he went to drive recovery.

I've rebooted using Boot disc menu Msata. After some research, I used the diskpart utility to remove all 4 partitions on the 1 TB hd: (Disk0 is 1 TB of hard disk, disk 1 is MSata)
    DiskPart

    Select disk 0

Select partition x (x = partition no, for each of the listed partitions)
    Delete partition override

After you delete all partitions, computer management shows a 1 TB hard drive to the adjacent address. I formatted the drive and then restarted the laptop. Now, my laptop stops on the Msata drive automatically, and I have a HD 1 TB of storage.

  • DV6-1362nr: dv6-1362nr w / MZ-M5E250BW

After you have installed Windows 10 Pro on my laptop, I decided to get a new battery, max out the RAM and get an mSATA SSD. After inserting the mSATA SSD and start the system, I was surprised that it has not been detected in Windows. Then I checked the BIOS and there no see here as well. I turned off the system, removed the HARD drive then only let the mSATA device. It still does not detect it. Is there a way to make this unit to work with the laptop? Thank you.

The dv6-1000 series is not an mSATA slot. I suspect that you have inserted a disc hard mSATA in a tuner TV or WWAN slot.

    Here is the Manual:

    Dv6t-1000 manual

See page 66. Is that where you put it? The chipset of this computer model predates anything that can use a player of the WSSD by a generations coupld. I think that the first models who could use a 2d or third generation models were Intel Core.

The best you can do is install a standard 2.5-inch SATA SSD in place and place of the hard drive.

  • HP Envy 14 Sleekbook 14-k106la: do not start after installing mSATA disc

    Hello

I bought a Crucial mSATA disc to install in my laptop Envy, initially to upgrad SSD real of this laptop, in my Ultrabook feel like I did and was very helpful, I just changed the original SSD and put the new, so I have a + 500 GB SSD and the standard + 500 GB disk.

After removing the cover plastic that laptop I couldn't find the SSD drive, I could only find an empty slot with the same configuration of pin code for my new drive mSATA, same size, etc.. So, I thought that the small SSD of this laptop is not removable, but I would directly install the new SSD and I did, I just put the plastic cover in the slot, and tried again to start.

Now, laptop does not turn on, when I push feed is directed the button lights (also wifi key, orange) and a few seconds later (approx. 3 sec) they turn again. The screen is blank, I get no message or any sound signal.

To resolve this problem, I tried several times:

-Remove the mSATA this location and try again without the mSATA installed, as the original configuration, and anyway, it did not work.

-Remove the battery, memory and standard HD, button pushed for 15, 20 and 60 seconds (without adapter), and then I plugged everything again and anyway it did not work.

-J' I pushed the power button / stop for 5, 15, 20 and 60 seconds without the adapter, then push again with the adapter, it didn't work.

-J' I Pushed power button 5, 15, 20 and 60 seconds without the adapter, then push the adapter again with, haven't worked.

I double checked that the standard hard drive (H) and other cables are the plastic cover, correctly connected that it is correctly positioned, etc. etc. and anyway I can't do possible starting from laptop, I only make possible the power LED button and WiFi key lights up (orange) for a few seconds and again it turns off no error message or beeps are received.

Thanks in advance for your help.

In fact, you might have more luck than you think if you live in a Mexican town a decent size. But you can easily find someone to do in San Antonio. The problem is your motherboard includes the processor and has enough high-quality video, so it's not going to be cheap. You're not under warranty are you? Thought I would ask. It is the part:

For use only with the numbers 14-k100-14-k199 model equipped with the Intel i5-4200U and operating system Windows 8 Standard 744758-501

It is the best laptop on eBay parts selling. I buy from them regularly. Can't say I've never had anything bad but never had a problem not solved with them.

    http://www.eBay.com/ITM/HP-envy-TouchSmart-Ultrabook-14T-Intel-integrated-1-6GHz-laptop-motherboard-/291618917878?hash=item43e5d78df6:i:291618917878

If you are looking at $289 for the Board of Directors and a technician will charge you $150 for labor. The replacement of the motherboard is actually not as bad as some models as you can remove the cover and put the right to work.

I would like to know if there are other assistance I can provide.

No, you can't, a second facility would be like installing on a second computer, you will need to purchase a second license.

  • X 220 mSATA recovery disc install hangup...

Hey all. First off - I am ZIM Black Crow, this is my first time on the boards of Lenovo, because before tonight, I had never owned a Lenovo. But I must say that this community seems incredibly impressive in every way and you guys have been a MAJOR asset to decide what laptop to buy and how, well, best.

I am the proud mother of a X 220 new-to-me, factory refurbished with an i7 2.7 Ghz, 320 GB 7200 RPM HDD, 6 GB RAM (now 16 GB of RAM, because Yes), IPS, the works display. Even came with an unexpected bonus to the webcam, fingerprint reader AND the dock (no for which Lenovo is mentioned in the list... sweeeeeet). So, being a handyman, I swapped to 16 GB of RAM (started very well, win7 it recognized), made the recovery discs, out the HARD drive, installed an mSATA Nocti OCZ 120 GB drive, started the system. The BIOS recognizes the drive but, since then, it's a new drive, no OS. Dropped the recovery disk bootable in the DVD drive of the oh-so-handy dock, product ThinkVantage recovery starts right. Asked me for the first data disk, which I happily obliged with, and it is now

... sitting. Laugh at me. In silent mode.

Specifically, he seems stuck on "current progress: prepare the hard drive" (caps/nocaps Lenovo, not me). It has been sitting like that for 40 minutes. No flashing lights, no progress on the progress bar, no change at all to tell me if it works (and since it's a SSD without spin player to listen to). The only reason why I haven't restarted and tried again is that the Trackpoint function still works, so I know that he has not yet locked.

But the kuestion (excuse typos typing certain keys are torn on this laptop - where the replacement), it's how long let this sit in this way? I don't know if he does something. It is 4-15 AM and I'm afraid that if I go to bed he will magically move forward and ask for things, like the next disc. If I sit here, it will never do anything, but to make fun of my conscience.

It seems that people are generally in success with X220s and mSATA readers... What am I doing wrong here?

Thank you and you're seriously awesome and I would not even be this far without you.

    ~ MizBlackCrow

.. .then OMFG I am a fool. Not two minutes after the announcement of this kuestion (keyboard problems, no W-but-left-one key), I've solved my own stupid, stupid problem.

What happened - I had put a popup asking for the 1st disk of data. I held. I've heard the spin of DVD player when I put the popup went without me by clicking on the OK"" button. Because, with the sensitive touchpad, I clicked on the largest window of recovery of product. That hide the popup. Who has dropped out of my progress.

I discovered this by "tests to ensure that the trackpoint worked" by moving the window of recovery of product autour, discovering the shortcut menu, and then click OK. The recovery is going smoothly. * HEADDESK *.

This is why I shouldn't be allowed to operate on any computer at 4 in the morning...

  • 3rd party option WSSD of ENVY 15 t-j000 or disc MSATA options

Someone at - he found the options for MSDD or MSATA readers for use with laptops Envy 15 t-j000 series. I'm like something bigger that the 24 GB HP offers and then still no HARD drive as an option for the data.

Looking for models that would work?

As I said above, the BIOS are configured so that the WSSD cannot be the boot drive, if there is also a regular SATA installed hard drive. It is hard wired to use as an accelerator cache the MSSD. Many of us would do what you want to do, and at this point, cannot.

I think that perhaps the EasyBCD software might work so that the system starts the main player but points the main road to the WSSD of full boot. It will be a little slower than the start if you can start directly from the WSSD. I've never tried the EasyBCD software have so no basis to comment, but in theory it could work.

  • XPS 8500 mSATA unrecognized disc

I just installed an Intel SSD 525 series 120 GB drive on the card connector mother mSATA on my XPS 8500.  After the computer starts, the new drive is not recognized by Windows.  It does not appear in the disk manager at all.  Is there any setting/configuration which shuts the mSATA/connection to the port (for example, in the BIOS, etc) which would explain it to be invisible?  Or, it is probably just a faulty SSD?  Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you.

    Hi DoctorDED,

Here a thread (among many others), which explains how to set up. Good luck!

  • I would use mSATA 32 GB SSD in 14z 5423 as data disc normal

I have a new Inspiration 14z 5423 and it comes with 500 GB HARD drive and an mSATA SSD 32 GB for acceleration. I intend to replace the HDD with a SSD, so I have more acceleration.

But I don't know how to disable acceleration and use the SSD of 32 GB of normal data storage.

    Any help in appreciated.

I've been successfully disabled iSRT. But in a slightly different procedure that has been described above. At the time, I received 14z, trie GUI has not been installed. And I went to Dell.com and downloaded iSRT driver installed. Main player has already been associated with the mSATA for accelerated reader.

If I'm above procedure to disable sorts them in the BIOS, I won't be able to separate the main drive of the mSATA drive. So, here is the procedure I followed.

-Leave the BIOS for SATA operation setting as it is for the trie.

-Disable 'Technology Intel Quick Start' in the BIOS because it uses 8 GB mSATA

(Note that I'm really confused of sorts and iRST, I think Intel should really change)

    -Windows startup

    -Launch GUI TSRI

-Click on 'Accelerate' tab and click 'disable acceleration.

-Click mSATA drive icon, and then click 'reset to available.

-Restart Windows and the mSATA 32 GB is now available as normal storage
