Disk partition question
Hi, I have a laptop CQ60-422DX. I went to disk management via the search box on the start menu. When I looked at my scores, I saw that I have the standard C drive and the recovery partition. However, I have seen an additional partition listed. There is no drive letter or name, but its size is 199 MB and it is supposed to be a primary partition. Does anyone else have this additional blow? Help, please.
Well Yes, it is the volume/partition windows system... it contains files that are needed for starting Windows...

I just bought this computer two days ago. I noticed after I put everything in place that the hard drive has been split in two. How can I send all the space of the D: drive on the C: drive? I tried to extend the volume, but it won't let me.

Thanks for the help!
Yes, on the data partition. It will then turn black, which means the unallocated space. You will be able to extend the partition to the OS after that.

Satellite P300 - question about HARD Disk Partition
Hello.
I just bought a P300-1 Satellite has very nice portable 8. Everything has been restored to the original state. The thing is, I'm sure someone has resized the partition of HARD drive on the disk "D". It has a 160 GB hard drive, but the "D" drive is showing only 54 GB. I would like to reduce the size to give me maximum space on the 'C' drive but worried that it might affect the "HDD Recovery" folder that exists on this subject.
Any help asap would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you very much
Create recovery DVDs using Toshiba Recovery creator tool. After doing this, you can do with disk partitions you want.
One day, if you want to reinstall Vista and have the factory settings, you can use this created DVD facilities. Please note: before installation of Vista drive HARD whole lance and ancient structure of the partitions is deleted. Data back up are required.

Logical disk partition not recognized in the New Installation of Windows
Hello. I would appreciate someone to give me any advice. I don't know if the problem I encounter is an oversight on my part, but it was not something that I anticipated.
To give a bit of background, until last week, I was running a Windows 7 system on my computer which included three hard drives (4 TB, 2 TB, and a smaller disk). The 4 TB drive included my boot drive with Windows on a partition of 2 TB and then the unallocated space has been transformed into a new partition in disk management, received the drive letter G and was used for long term backup of data.
Since then, I built a new computer and installed a new version of Windows 7 on a small SSD. During this process, I have not all disks connected to the machine (except the DVD player) so that there is no possibility of installation of Windows, do something for these readers I didn't (I got burned by this time long ago when you reinstall Windows 95, which makes me just feel old). After the whole installation process was performed and the new version of Windows has been working well, I opened the machine and plugged the drive 4 TB and 2 TB, assuming that Windows did not recognize them when I started.
When I started in Windows, Windows does indeed recognize the two drives and assign drive letters. But in the case of the car of 4 TB, he acknowledges that the partition containing my old boot drive. No drive letter is assigned to the secondary partition. When I go to disk management, it shows all of the remaining spaces as unallocated space, but seems not yet quite recognize space completely in the way he would if I'd created directly. For example, if I right click in that box, I don't get the normal options to create a new Simple Volume. Everything on this menu is grayed out except properties and help.
So I guess I have two questions. (Leaving aside the possibility of a hardware problem), was I wrong to assume that a hard drive divided into two partitions could be transferred from a Windows machine to another? I honestly thought that no matter where no matter what Windows 7 machine would recognize the two drives, but maybe I'm missing something fundamental.
Two and more important still, there advice for access to the data on this drive?
Hello
A problem that could happen is that the disk partition has security setting so that the profile of the user that created it would be able to access it, and seeing that you are trying to access from a new profile may not not allow you to access
To access these files, you can try to boot from the old hard drive manually to change the setting of the partition or simply manually move the files and delete the partition.
To start from the old disk hard restart have the hard drive is plugged in, restart the computer and while it is booting F12 key to select the boot device, after that, select the old hard disk and access them normally.
hope this has helped.

Original title: TPG Server petition.
I wanted to know if I di not actually have access to the disk partition hard base would impact on the installation of a complete operating system of Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit? Instead of having a computer with a complete installation of windows mine came with versions of WinPE OEM, NT and MCE. The GPT partition server that I can see is protected. Partial operating systems seem to be installed on network disk Volumes. I think that what I have to do down the disk hard real all delete and start again but I'm having a problem to see what is all about the drive through programs and remove what I find. He also seems to have a certain type of script hidden BIOS more wrinkles to retail and canceling all decisions on versions of the oem .cfg files. She configures and installs the server instead of windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit server software. The installation gives the highest administrative authority to the network administrators who I don't know and have never met and to manage my personal laptop. It creates a serious problem when I want to use my computer for one purpose and that some people I don't know and have never met want me to use my computer for something else.

Failed to get the disk partition information when you add the new data store
Hello
Update my ESX to version 4 Update 1 (4.0.0, 256968). Now, I'm trying to add a new data store to a cluster in vCenter and receive the following error message when I will review the current structure of the disc "error when configuring the host: failed to get the disk partition information. When I click back, then next, there's no error message but in the formatting window, I get the error "Object reference" not set to an instance of an object.
I see this question has been asked before, but I can't seem to find an appropriate response. Anyone? The interface using CLI instead of vCenter isn't an option (alignment VMFS, workload and so on)
I use Dell R900 with an EMC Symmetrix VMax SAN
The size of the LUN I want to add is 741 GB
Concerning
Marius Aulie
If you have a virtual machine for Windows test, you could do the following, to ensure that the logic unit number has a clean partition table:
-set the LUN as a GROSS physical to virtual machine device
-Run diskpart, select the drive and run the CLEAN command
-detach the LUN to the virtual machine
-try to create the data on the LUN VMFS store
The size of the block of the data store where the VM test can be a problem with the above. Due to the size of the LUN, the size of the block of the data store must be at least 4 MB. Attach the LUN to a physical test system could be an alternative.

ESXi SCSI 5 to "cannot get disk partition information.
Off I must first say that I have tried to follow the guides as much as I could find to solve this problem, but nothing has worked.
We have a server with a single 130 GB drive that ESXi 4.0 resides on and another disk SCSI 5 to that we wanted to use as a VMFS partitioned drive, with a big VMDK, who accesses our Server VM file.
ESXi installation went well, however, when we arrived to add the second drive as another data store, we got an error message: "error during the configuration of the host: could not get disk partition information. From there on, we tried several solution, manually formatting the drive with the tools of command line vmkfs, Re-partitioning for ext2 with GParted Live, erasing information from partition with dd, deleting all partitions, all without success.
We are posting our problem here as a last resort, I can confirm that vSphere displays the total capacity of the car, but not the partition information. It seems also a gap between the capacity of disk fdisk reports and esxcfg-scsidevs - l capacity.
Here are a few out of order, it was after the partitions have been deleted on 5 TB disk (the one that ends with "67"):

I had heard he had some problems with the help of 2 TB disks in ESXi, however I was not sure if it was directly relevant to this problem. I am open to using Raw Device Mappings, I think I've seen a few guides on the methods not supported for adding THAT RDM on a local drive - all advice on this would be welcome.
Currently, we hold a store of data from 5 to and VMDK join one of our virtual machines. I guess my question is: How can I get the 5 TB drive work in ESXi?
Hello and welcome to the forums.
ESX (i) can be used to the maximum 2 TB - 512 bytes to the size of the LUN. It is documented in KB 3371739. You can just cut up this 5 TB drive into partitions smaller than 2 TB - 512 bytes each.
Good luck!

Creating DAS or SAN Disk Partitions for ASM
Oracle® database Installation Guide 11 g Release 2 (11.2) for Linux (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/install.112/e24321/oraclerestart.htm#CHDBJGEB)
* 3.6.3 step 2: * creating DAS or SAN Disk Partitions for Oracle Automatic Storage Management
In order to use Oracle ASM a DAS or SAN disk, the disk should have a partition table. Oracle recommends to create a single partition for each drive.
My question: why Oracle is recommended to create a single partition for each disc? For a disk to use on Suse Linux, I normally need at least 3 partitions, i.e., boot, swap and root.
ScottThese scores are for your operating system. Partitioning of a data disc is not very conducive to the continuation of the salary plan. Redundancy function what sense does make having 2 mirrors on 2 partitions on the same drive... When the disc goes down, you're toast. How you run your last command "Edit CV update s/n"
As for the score, he should start cylinder 2 through
. Crush the first 1 M drive will overwrite the table to partition and in the case of Solaris, the VTOC. (Virtual table) Without the VTOC table or partition, your device becomes a useless brick. If you have only a single disc, then ASM is not a storage solution that I would sue. You need a device for performance benefits.

I don't know if HP tools is not necessary for the recovery disk and I find that the system disk are important information which are using System.
Can I save disk tools on CD and computer HP will still work? Or is the best backup idea recovery disk? Information on the internet are different. Single site Web HP tools remove the other says delete system. But there are other sizes of this disc I have. My HP tools partition have 2.4 GB and 300 MB system.

HP_Tools partition has the Diagnostics
Recovery partition has the recovery that are accessible with a key F11 to restart Manager.
System partition is required by the operating system
C partition contains the operating system and is also where you store everything and run programs.
If you have created a recovery from USB or disk set with the HP retrieve creator of media already, then you can safely remove the recovery partition. Be aware that you will lose the built in functionality to have the Recovery Manager. F11 won't do anything.

Satellite Pro A210 1AZ Disk Partitions
Hello
Hope someone can explain to me. We have two Satellite Pro A210 1AZ identical machines, Windows Vista Home, 120 GB of disk. They have two partitions on the disk in the computer. C: Vista is 56.2 GB and data E: is 54.0 GB. I guess there are other accounts hidden for the missing 10 GB partition and I guess that is the recovery partition.
My problem is the following. Everything written in C:, programs, Documents etc., and it is more or less complete. The E: is not used. Why is there an E: partition? Why not a single 110GB C:?
I know that I can copy files on the E: partition but trying I find annoying. My wife doesn't understand anything on the partitions, folders and files and just wants everything to be where you expect it to be - in Documents or photos. Seems reasonable.
What can I do to get rid of the E: thing and have just a large C:?
NB - I have no interest is messing around with the PC, I want to just use it and forget about it.
Thank you
Fred
Hello Fred
I don't know how much experience you have with the PC, but it is usual to divide the hard driver to two or more partitions. each partition can have a different name and you can save specific data on the specific partition.
For example, I have three partitions:
C for the operating system
Private D for stuff like photos, movies and mp3 files and
E for Business stuffAnyway, if you want to have a (the ability of the entire HARD disk) partition, you can delete second partition and expand the C partition to use any HARD drive capacity.
Open Control Panel > administrative tools > computer management. In the left pane, under storage category, click on disk management
Now select and right mouse button click on the partition that you want to change.
In the context menu, you will see options to extend, reduce or remove the partition. Select the option you want.
If your 2nd partition is empty, you can remove the 2nd partition, and then expand the 1st partition to use the freed up space. So to learn more about the bits and bytes please http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/OPT7301UY001JR01.htm
Bye and good luck!

On my Satellite L650/OE8 new disk partition
I just booted my OE8/new Satellite L650, as Windows 7 Home Premium. During the installation, was asked on the partitioning of the hard drive. I wanted to be able to keep the OS, applications and program files in a small partition, leaving the majority of the space in a second partition (disk space 640Go Total) for free music, documents, videos, etc.
So I said yes, do the first 100 GB partition. Now, the computer is running, I see my drive C has a capacity of 100 GB, but the rest of my available disk space is invisible, I seem to have lost it! Can someone tell me please how to recover the situation?
BIMA
Hello
It is not visible to Windows Explorer. You must activate or create this second partition.
Follow it please:
Open Control Panel > administrative tools > computer management choose disk on the left side and you will see the structure of HARD disk partition.
There must be some free space / unallocated marked with black color.
Click with the right button of the mouse and choose the option create new logical drive.More info on what you can read under http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/2674-partition-volume-create-new-18.html
