  Hello Twinkie3, I suggest making the game to restore HP Recovery disks.  Even if you have the recovery restore D: hard disk partition, it may be damaged or if the hard drive fails and needs to be replaced, you would not be able to access the recovery partition.

  If you have to replace the hard drive, you can only insert disc 1 of the the recovery set and put the system back as it was when shipped. Without these records, you would need to try to acquire at HP for a cost to you, and after a while, they are not available.

  The set of recovery disks cannot be done once and only be used to restore your particular system.

  Normally, it takes 3 DVD discs but can take longer depending on the size of the restore partition.

  The HP advisor don't constantly remind important you to these disk since it's a step in maintaining your system over time.

  I ordered the HP recovery discs as F11 will not work. I got 4 disks with one separated from the others. He said "use this first!   When I tried on the original disk, the utility did not have an option to choose a partition for OS; everything has been cleaned and only a logical partition defined on the disc, which is certainly very annoying.
  Is it possible to put the recovery utility CD, keep the old partitioning as it was? I have 70 GB of data on a disk and I don't want to lose and recording of CD 70 seems paranoid.
  The c: partition is 10 GB and is intended for Windows XP, the D: partition contains data and I would keep it as it was.

  You do not get a choice; you reinstall that came with it.

  You should not have formatted the hard drive. you have likely wiped the Partition recovery during this process.

  Press F11 on startup to see if you can re - install, or not.

  Or try these methods.

  You can contact HP and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

  They should do this for a small fee.

  Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

  If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

  You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

• Damn backup Rescue & Recovery remove system - steps to manually delete the reg entries?

  After a 3 hour wait, I am convinced that this piece of crap called Rescue and Recovery is the worst of Lenovo systems.   I had 4 backups using 43 GB.  I wanted to delete all, because I need the space.  So I went to the R & R through Lenovo (T410) of the cutting-edge tools and it shows 4 backups (1 for each month spent).  I thought that I should start with the oldest backup.   So I hit the button remove next to the oldest date I saw there, and it has been running for 3 hours and there is no end to this, I think, even if the hard drive shows activity.   I wanted to post here to see if the process ends the 43 GB of compensation from one day to the next.  I am ready to leave my PC to work from one day to the next, if others have noticed that it is a slow process, beyond imagination.   But, if I kill this process in the middle and remove the C:\RRbackups manually in the file system, which will mess up other parties (such as the registry).  So I wanted to see if anyone knows the necessary manual procedure (after the murder of this process) to a clean deletion beyond file system.  I sat with this shit called Rescue and Recovery for most of today, and it makes me think that this software is too crappy than DELL.    Frustrated...

  I can't answer why it takes so long to just perform a deletion, but I'd let it run the course as long as you see the disk activity.

  I know that if you uninstall Rescue and Recovery, then wipe the previous backups and your backup disk, reinstall Rescue and Recovery and start over just too.

I started to reformat the C drive to load XP, then remember "Oh no, it's a Vista machine!," I did not take the last step and load XP on drive C. I managed to get to the prompt of the drive D, where I can see what I think are the original Vista recovery files, but I don't know how what to do to make them run. F8 and F11 do not work. I'm not afraid to enter commands BACK of D, I don't know what to enter. Help, please.

• Pavilion G6-2123us: recovery of System Image of WD My Passport Ultra

  On my Pavilion G6 Notebook, I created a Windows 7 System Image and stored on an external USB WD My Passport Ultra.  When I boot my drive to repair (with the connected USB drive) and asks him to restore a System Image it says that it manages.  Because it's there (my Windows 8 machine can see the images on the USB drive), I guess that the G6 can not see My Passport USB drive.  I've updated the BIOS and other software recommended on the G6 as well as update the firmware on My Passport but no luck.   The G6 are able to see the key USB when I started upward in repair disk mode?   I give myself the option to load drivers for my external hard drive, but I don't know what that way with a USB connected any device.  If the G6 should be able to see the USB key, what should be my next step?

  I'll call this resovled.  The answer is that the native Windows tools to manage the system image in Windows 7 are really quite poor and you're better off using another product.  But whatever happens, to start on the ERD and see the USB you have to plug the USB on the right side (mouse) USB port.

  You can press the F9 key at startup to the top to go to the only time where Start menu or press ESC, then go frm here or you can go to BIOS (F10 at startup) and change the boot order any should allow you to boot from an external DVD drive.

• Recovery XP system with new hardware

  Hello.  I have problems with a virus on my HP Media Center m1070n and I think to do a system recovery to get rid of him.  It has been really stubborn and nothing I've tried has been able to kill him.  I would go ahead and do the system recovery, but after reading the instructions on the HP site, it is said to remove any new hardware that did not come into the PC.  The only new material I have is a new video card and more RAM (the old RAM is still there, I just added 2 more sticks).  I could get out of the RAM, but the video card is another story.  I don't have the original map (it was flat when the computer has a problem of overheating a few years ago).

  Is that going to cause a problem if I do a system restore?  Do I have other options?

  There is no car for this motherboard video. The video card will work fine. When you are recovering make sure you select this option to perform a DESTRUCTIVE RESTORE or the virus will remain.
