Disk space room of Windows Vista (c) (why it is nearly full?)

I have Vista and my question is on my C drive. My local disk fills up really quick. I deleted almost all the files and I don't have a lot of programs.  The program, which takes the most space is iTunes. What could I do to know what takes up all my space?

Hello

System Restore will take up to 15% of the capacity of your hard disk by default.

This free program allows you to see what takes up space.

    Hello

    Here are the other ways to reinstall vista

    Contact the computer manufacturer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it

    they do it for a nominal cost of $

    also ask them if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive to get back to the way you bought

    you would normally press F10 or F11 or Alt + F10, 0 at startup to start the recovery process according to the manufacturer

    Ask them of the exact key sequence

    or borrow a microsoft dvd vista

    Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer

    they contain all versions of vista

  • If you have a valid Windows Vista license, why are there not support which includes downloads of the files we can need to overwrite your file should are corrupted due to a virus or malware?

    I am an unlucky recipient of a laptop with Windows Vista. It came preloaded with Vista... no backup disks or manuals, etc. The restore feature was not turned on, so a restore point has not been set. My WMP will not play wmv or any wmp files. I also have problems with my automatic updates in Windows. I have 10 updates that were not successful, but there are probably pages of the attempts of many times where the updates failed. My Trend Micro Titanium Internet tells me I have a problem in my directory root, which is probably due to an update of Windows that was supposed to protect me from a weakness in Vista, but again once with my updates failed to download successfully, its possible the fix I need is still sitting there... I think it's a shame that MicroSoft is allowed to 'SELL' a product without disk... just a license # and NO manuals. AND not a lot of support for your money... or the other. I spent hours and hours trying to fix myself... using all the resources I can find... look like a dummy, I'm sure, but if I had the software I probably would have deleted from my hard drive and more. It would certainly have saved me MONTHS of frustration. Trend Micro and real human support downloaded the plus version of their software for me and recent, plus a few extras to eradicate certain other pests. To get a human being to help you at MicroSoft? It will be $60, please... Sorry, if I look a little tired, but you guys are supposed to be the best and I feel fuzzy. I have been in sales for a long time. long time AND sold the BEST AMERICAN made cars... CADILLACS, but you know if I take care of my clients after the sale... they would have felt like I do, today... disappointed. If every time they came into the dealership I have loaded the $$ to take care of them, they don't come back to me when the NEW models came out... I made sure they got their cars back washed... and they sent their friends to buy from me. And ILS never thought to buy from anyone else, actually when I left the company, I had a nice little legacy of clients in order to let my protégé.

    Thanks (again) Darin - especially for such a detailed response.

    Looks like you're in the clear, Phyllis :)

  • Lost the disk for Installation of Windows Vista - can I use my friends with my product key?

    I am running Windows Vista on my computer at home, but I had this for a few years, and he began to have very slow, so I decided to completely erase the hard drive, now I know how to do this, but I need to re - install the OS when I'm done, but I've lost my Windows Vista installation CD , even though I still have my code/product key - it would be OK to use my drive of Windows Vista to friends with my product code?

    I tried this article: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/326246and he do not seem to answer my question - I'm trying to replace my copy, I just want to know if it is OK to use my friends?

    Yes.

    As long as it's a DVD from Microsoft and not a computer Manufacturer'e Recovery DVD.

    Read the information below.

    Vista recovery media obtain and/or use the Partition Recovery Vista on your computer to the factory settings .

    There is no Vista free download legal available.

    Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

    Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.
    See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.
    Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...
    Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Also ask them if it is possible to do the recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.

    They will tell you how to do this.

    Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
    A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
    The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.
    There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.
    If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
  • Motherboard fried; replaced, but the OEM disks don't reload Windows Vista
    How can I do or what number to call to get reloaded Vista.  I have two computers even.  HP Pavilion a6300f.  Both are about 2 years old and all original.  In November 2009, the motherboard on one of two computers went wrong.  In December, the other motherboard has gone bad.  I bought a new motherboard for the first and reloaded all the original hard disk, fan, CPU etc. etc.  Tried to use the OEM recovery disk, but he would not allow it.  I would like to be able to challenge the two machines, re - install windows vista and then move to W7 to correspond with my new computer... but I can't get Vista to recharge.
    Any ideas on who to call at Microsoft?  It seems to me that I should be able to reinstall Vista and then do what I want to do.
    It's nothing to do with Microsoft.
    You use HP recovery media.
    You will need to contact them about problems with their recovery media.
    You have changed the motherboard and their OEM recovery disks include drivers for the motherboard of origin for your model computers.
  • Running out of disk space with backup windows
    I tried to backup my C drive on my drive G (more than one terabyte available) and the backup fails saying it is running out of disk space.   Backup usually stops around 35% give or take advantage of 5%.  Backup size is 64.2 still 962 GB free.  I let windows determine settings.  I tried different setting adding and removing what is recorded.  Nothing fixes the problem.  He always says
  • Free disk space in the Windows Explorer status bar.
    In Windows 7, I wonder how to display disk space is free in the Windows Explorer. In XP, you could see how much space was free down in the status bar. He would say how objects and disk space that was free. How can I activate this in Windows 7?
    Return to the root that particular drive is annoying, when I should be able to see how much free space I have for any folder.
    Thank you.
    These 2 features have been removed from the latest version of windows and really help to speed up the use of every day:
    Display the amount of free space
    Display of the total size of the files in folders.
    How this two features can be added to the status bar?
  • "Low disk space" error in Windows 7.
    I always get the message "E:\ low disk space.  When I click on it, said that the problem was my trash.  However, the trash is empty and shows 0 bytes.  I checked the disk space on my E:\ (Tools) and it is completely filled.  How to remove or free up space on this drive?
    Hello
    The only file I see in the HP_TOOLS partition you want to delete is the one below.
    MedilID.bin 528 bytes
    Although the file size seems insignificant, it may be incorrectly reported, so remove it and restart the laptop.
    Also, make sure that Windows backup doesn't have the D or partitions E defined as a backup destination.
  • 127 GB of disk space required for Windows XP?
    I use the copy of XP comes with my computer 10 years ago.  I upgraded to SP 3.  XP is now 127 GB of my 142 GB disck drive.  I think it should be less than 70 GB.  How can I reduce the space occupied by Windows?
    Thank you!
    The brief flash was probably because you run msizap by double-clicking to open a command prompt window instead and it works there.
    This is probably the best at this time for you to take the computer to a local store.  I suggest does not go to a place geeksquad or type BigBoxStoreUSA, but you probably right that who take you to reinstall Windows.  Don't forget to tell them to back up your data files (photos, documents, music, etc.) first.
    Unless the Office was preinstalled on the computer when you bought it (and the store chooses to use the method of 'back to the conditions of the factory'), you must reinstall Office.  You also need to reinstall other applications that are now on the computer.  You need original installation media and product keys.  Ask the shop to extract the product keys for your various applications before reinstalling Windows.
    Good luck.
