Disorders after trying to upgrade to windows 10
So my daughter has tried to upgrade to windows on its x 51 alienware r2 10. Subsequently, the computer would not initialize and would have 6 beeps. I tried another monitor, I get the splash screen for alienware on the post, and then the screen goes black and it will not start on toward the top in windows. I created a usb 10 recovery / windows startup, but all attempts to use it to recover or repair failed.
you will have to plug a hdmi for your gpu intell cable, go to Device Manager and disable the disconecet of gpu.then integrated hdmi and plug back in your amd or nvidia gpu and activate your amd or nvidia gpu and then install the driver from nvidia to experience if you do not have this program google it.then install update driver

TRY TO UPGRADE TO WINDOWS 7 BUT C: DRIVE FULL DESPITE THE REMOVAL OF ALL UNNECESSARY PROGRAMS
I'm trying to upgrade to windows 7 Vista but not like the 40 GB c: partition has only 3 GB free. Removed all unnecessary programs, etc. If you only really have Vista on C: drive but still showing 37GB used. Any ideas how I can release another 6 GB of free space.
Tahnks a lotI hate to say it, but it would be a great time for a bigger hard drive. While 40 GB meets at least for installation you really need more for in-place-upgrading a system using 37 GB. Setup needs space for temporary files, its own temporary relocation, etc.

I want to upgrade a Compaq Presario 17XL360 Windows ME to Windows XP Professional, but no other solution I tried other forums worked to resolve the error message about missing file i386\WIN9XUPG\W95UPG. DLL. I don't have Roxio Easy CD Creator installed (a possible cause) and I tried end task on all except Windows Explorer and Systray (another recommended solution). I read that can be installed with 64 MB of RAM, I have, so I want to try to solve this problem without having to install more RAM, as I am trying to upgrade this computer at a lower cost to make a donation to a member of the family abroad.
Thanks for your suggestion! You will see above, I tried but I didn't have the Roxio Easy CD Creator software in my computer. However, I found the solution. My mistake was trying to install Windows XP Professional as an upgrade, which did not.
So I finally found a suggestion online that does not work.
(1) I rebooted and selected "Press any key to boot from the CD" (something like that!) and installed Windows XP Pro as a new program.
(2) I followed the instructions in the readme file, and when I got to the question of the partitions, I deleted the two existing partitions (one was where the old Windows ME operating system, and the other was a program 'system'.
(3) after the removal of two partitions, I created a new one, following the instructions written in the installer and install Windows XP without problem.
(4) Note: when trying to install XP as an upgrade and get the error above concerning the missing file and the cancellation, the computer still gave me the option to click "install". I tried a few times and each time, he told me that my product key is not valid. However, when I installed it as a new program, all installed easily and he accepted my product key invalid. So people, don't believe the message 'invalid' immediately, you can also have a valid product key.BUT I'll have to give in and buy more RAM, because I had only 64 MB and I need 256. Evidence? My first installation of the Norton Antivirus software, and then it was slowing my computer to a crawl. I'm trying to uninstall it now, and it takes a long time. Tomorrow I'll determine exactly what to buy and install.
I hope this helps others solve this error - the support person level 2 Tech I contacted HP support earlier told me that they have the expertise to solve the problem. You can do it!

Code error 80072EFE trying to upgrade to Windows 10
Original title: Fred Dimmick
I have 2 PC and a laptop all running Windows 7. I am currently undergoing upgrade to Windows 10 pop-up windows. Whenever I'm trying to do that, I get failure, on each machine.
Error code 80072EFE appears about a third of the way through the download, data download costs are not negligible and I am really annoyed with Billy Gates heirs and successors.
My ISP is Xplornet satellite, download speed vary from time to time on sitting so if it's an insurmountable problem I would like to either find a way to make the upgrade to stop GOLD all ads to harass.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Hi Fred, you can try the steps in Milot in the thread below?

Error recovery mode after standby. Upgrade to Windows 7?
I have a laptop Sony Vaio with Vista. It was freezing upward during the recovery (I close the lid between uses that puts the PC in standby mode) making me do a hard reboot. I took it to the GeekSquad because I have a svc contract and think it could be material. They said material was beautiful, but I had spyware (I use Norton anti virus and it is up-to-date and running weekly) causing problems. Also said they were concerned that I had 9 dropouts of kernel in the log file. They suggested a complete wipe and reload. I was wondering that if an upgrade to Windows 7 would be a way less invasive for updating the kernel, there is a lot of work to clean and recharge! Another symptom is Internet Explorer seems unstable and often says he has encountered an error and stops it self.
When Windows does not work right, upgrading the operating system probably will not help and could fail or make things worse. Boulder computer Maven

8.1 Windows Update in the store disappeared after trying to upgrade to 8.1 Windows

My Vista system has crashed into two different time after I was told to put in Vista Service Pack 1 level. The system tells me to do Service Pack 1 before I can run Windows 7 64.
Backup of personal data (which none should be considered 100% reliable at this point) then do a format and clean install of Vista 64-bit. Please note that a repair installation (upgrade AKA on-site) won't fix this!
Once installed the clean, you will have the equivalent of a "new computer" in order to take care of everything on the next page before connecting the machine to the internet or a network otherwise and before using a USB key that is not brand new, or has not been freshly formatted:
5 steps to help protect your new computer before going online
http://www.Microsoft.com/protect/computer/advanced/XPPC.mspxAfter taking care of all the foregoing, Windows Update will eventually offer several SP1 prerequisite updates (e.g., http://support.microsoft.com/kb/955430;) ( http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821) and then SP1 itself. After that you got SP1 installed, you will be able to run Win7 64-bit.
If these procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, good reputation and independent computer (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA) repair facility.
Good luck!

All the sudden, iTunes has stopped responding. I click top and nothing. I spent over an hour with a Senior Engineer at Apple's Support, which does not give me a ticket number so now Apple can't even find the person I talked to. This person had to remember and it's been 2 weeks. I called Apple back Support and since they can't find a ticket number they told me that I have to wait until this person reminds me. This engineer had me remove and reinstall iTunes with all the other components that go with it, I run it as administrator, pretty much did all the troubleshooting I had done on my own. I have now to sit and wait, hoping that this senior engineer at Apple called me back. It's poor and poor support for iTunes. If anyone has any advice, please share.
Thank you
These can be things that you've already tried. Despite this, it might be interesting to try again. As another poster has said recently, though for another problem, "20th try was the charm.
For general advice, see troubleshooting problems with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps described in the second case are a guide to remove everything related to iTunes and then rebuild what is often a good starting point, unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach.
Review the other boxes and other support documents list to the bottom of the page, in case one of them applies.
More information area has direct links with the current and recent buildings if you have problems to download, must revert to an older version or want to try the version of iTunes for Windows (64-bit-for old video cards) as a workaround for problems with installation or operation, or compatibility with QuickTime software or a third party.
Backups of your library and device should be affected by these measures but there are links to backup and recovery advice there.
