Displacement of the image mask.

I have just moved from CS3 to CS6. Previously, when you work on a layer mask I could make the active image by command - ~. It does not work now - is there an another keyboard shortcut for this? I can't find any references to this anywhere. I use a Mac, OS 10.7.4.

From CS4, you must "Option + click" on the layer mask to reveal the toggles between the image and the mask.

However, there is an option that CS6 is for experienced users inherited, like you!

Photoshop > Edition > keyboard shortcuts.

Activate the check mark on the reading highlighted area in the image - use Legacy shortcuts channel. You will be able to revive the existing shortcuts for channels / layers.

Note that CS6 has many improvements in orders of shortcut to the other layer / channel options and tools within the PS you will be sacrificing these if you choose to use channel Legacy shortcuts.

However, the trust that helps

  • beyond the image mask color

I often have people mask images to put them in an architectural setting. I so everything first open the image with a person, to convert the bottom of layer 0, add a layer mask and paint around the person with the black.

When I drag this layer to another then (enlargement), the mask around the person is black only as much as the original image size image of this person. around him he is white. When the scaling this image + mask, a thin frame appears sometimes, while the outer edge of pixel is interpolated and not completely black more. This must be retouched every time.

now, by chance, I did it 'right', in the sense that when you drag the image of the little person, the mask was completely black around the person. so there must be a way to make things right from the beginning. I tried to find what I have done in history, but the last 20 acts were brushing.

Anyone know how I can put the entire area of a layer beyond the borders of the image mask to black? I tried, but did not work:

activate the layer mask, select all, reverse, fill it with black (cmd + backspace when bg color is black).

I found a solution that works, but it's more complicated than the contours of the new layout of the image-editing.

    Thank you.

I know exactly what you talk about and very glad you posted this.

What works is if you start with a new layer with no mask. Then draw a rough selection lasso around your object, then click adding a layer mask icon.

What also works is hold the option key before clicking on the Add layer mask button. Your mask is filled with black, then paint to keep the areas with a white brush.

What causes the problem is if you click on add a layer mask button and then start to use the brush to paint the areas.

It has to do with, if you helped photoshop know what color the mask is filled beyond your exisitng Web.

  • Release the Images masked - and - unable to separate what had been hidden

Sometimes, when I hide a picture - or hide in fact - a group of several complex images, when I have communicated the mask, it is impossible to separate the images. Is it possible to make hidden groups but then not having that happen? Thank you very much. BTW CS5.

You can post a screenshot of one of the files before and in the end the mask was released, showing the layers panel and the appearance Panel. I t would be a good thing if the layers Panel has been expanded so that we can see if there's anything unusual about the art.

The appearance Panel woud be good as well.

Anyone having problems with black and white squares, launch Bridge and go in Camera Raw preferences and at the bottom of the window make sure 'use graphics processor' is DISABLED.

This is a temporary work around, but it's going to at least squares disappear.

  • What is the shortcut to display the image and a mask?

    Dear pixelbenders,

There is a shortcut to display the image below with a screen and a mask; It is q and involves the backslash.

    Can't remember what it was.

When you have a situation like this, go to the help with shortcuts and search page

I thought about it. That's all just stupid on my part and a bit of frustration because photoshop is my sworn enemy of then adobe added in. Thanks tho!

  • Why when I cut my selection of the quick mask in Photoshop it is suddenly just a cup a smaller version of the opacity of the image?

Element selected and informed quick mask as usual:

    Screen Shot 2015-09-18 at 10.55.39 AM.png

I'll CUT the selection and it cuts just a transparent layer off the coast of the image:

    Screen Shot 2015-09-18 at 10.56.38 AM.png

And when I try to PASTE cuts the selection to the new document is just a transparent version like this:

I never changed anything, so I don't know what happened or how to fix it! Help, please.

you suggest to reset the Photoshop preferences and then try again.

  • Help to fluidity: image of the red mask

When I open any image in the Photoshop CC of fluid filter (2015), the entire image is covered by a red gel - mask.  It does not meet the Cancel button mask or thawing tool. How to unfreeze all of the image, so I can use the tools in the Liquify Filter?

the only thing I can think is now reinstall PS and maybe using the cleaning after uninstall:

  • Gum changing from white to black on the layer mask, leaving the image transparent.

I used the following method in CS5 to erase parts of a layer/bring these pieces back again if necessary. It works in the same way after that I upgraded to CS6 (not sure if the version difference plays a role or not.)

What I'm doing here is blend two layers that overlap in one of the other

    1. create the layer to the top layer mask

    2. Select pure white in the color selection window

3 select the Eraser tool, set the opacity to 30%, 50%, flow 100% hardness

    4. Select hide, erasing the edges of the image where there is overlap to eliminate hard edges and merge the images into another

    5. when I need to highlight an area of the image at the top (one mixed), I pass the color pure black opacity set to 100%, hardness 100% and paint over the areas that I want to "undo" my deletion.

-Sometimes happens a lot after my initial deletion, so a simple cancellation or who goes back in history is not a possible solution at this moment here.

-Another note: I have to move over the other layers to align as much as possible, make the story do not brush useful in this case.

Previously, this would simply restore the image to where it was originally for this place, by removing completely all masking. Now, when I do this procedure, the area that I'm trying to "undo" is however, as if the opacity is set to a level lower than 100%. This poses problems because I want to have the completely opaque image at this stage.

Some other notes I hope to answer some questions that may arise in advance:

I haven't settled the opacity of one of my layer masks

I tried to do the same operation by using the Brush tool (with 100% opacity and hardness, using the opposite colors), with the same result

As we have earlier I don't know another effective way to achieve the same goal. I'd be happy to do it differently but if necessary.

All the layers in these documents are dynamic objects

    Thank you!

I'm sorry it's so confusing. I guess the only reason why I use the Eraser tool is a vestige of when I was actually erase the image - and also I get the brush and Eraser different opacity value to quickly switch between them.

@Theresa actually, I didn't watch only the mask. Of course the mask was gray in the areas that I was talking about. But that lead me to realize that while the color picker looked purely black and white, I was working with a grayscale image, and it was in fact color and converted to looked at pure Grayscale black and white. I need to set the color of the brush at a certain point, when working in RGB (which I rarely do) and not realised.

Sorry for posting something with such a trivial response, but you all help me to understand thank you!

  • masking-> part of the image is not

    Screen Shot 2015-03-17 at 21.47.01.png

As you can see: a part of the image is wrong with masking.

    Any ideas?

Do not apply the mask to the cropping effect. Remove the effect of cropping and apply the mask to the opacity.

  • With the help of fluidity, while using the gel mask, suddenly the whole image became red.  Now, can not cancel to be able to work with it.  Help, please.

I must have pressed something that does that.  The whole image is now covered in red like a gel mask.  I don't know how to cancel it.  If I cancel and try to reboot, when I load the Liquify Filter again, it takes me to the same red image.

Try to use only a small part of the image when moving to fluidity rather than the entire document.

Using the marquee tool, select a part of the whole image you want to edit in the fluidity.

It is much easier for the graphics driver and the OS to process and sort of the recommended method for improved workflows.

If you have an image open in Photoshop 80 MB, and then you open fluidity, this set 80 MB opens in fluidity.

If you marked a small piece of the complete picture, let's say 1/8th of it, then only 10 MB gets opened in fluidity.   Computers as it is smaller.

  • Image mask Error Message When the reduction in size of the PDF

With my Mac, I include jpg images in Microsoft Word documents, save them as pdf files and reduce them. Reduced size often fails with the error message "The PDF content document image masks which were not sous-échantillonnées".  JPEGs don't have masks, so I have no idea how to solve this problem, and a thorough search of google was no help.

Use PNG images instead use an application like converter of graphics, Fireworks to convert .png to .jpg.

Will be much better images that degrade not every time that they are open and more often they end up being of same size as jpeg format

JPEG unless you save it as a special type is a lossy format, and each time is open (and unzipped) and closed (and then compressed) details of losses

Just open and enlarge an image jpeg after its been open 5 - 20 times you notice one out of the halo update similar looking for water discharged on paper wil pen ink on this subject. And it get worse gradually. PNG however is not fixed and if the original is saved as png never degrade even when reduced in size or or expand within reasonable limits in size.  I have in dealing with photos screenshots, pictures and others for years. Despite what others may say on this list can say if you want a picture with little bad for years of service save in png.
