  • VMTools fails to run for the virtual machine Windows 2000

    My first post.

Just installed VMWare Workstation 8.0 on a Windows 7 64 bit computer and I'm trying to create a virtual machine to Windows 2000 Professional from a CD of Installation. I'm trying to resurrect an old machine from the grave of cyber.

I created a disk image ISO of the installation CD Windows 2000 Pro original and then used the new computer Virtual Assistant to create a new virtual machine from it. Everything was fine, the new virtual machine started using the video driver by default since the installation media. Therefore I could not make any changes to the screen. VM Workstation suggested I have install VMTools.

But when I installed VMTools, installation fails just before she completed displays a dialog box stating "Setup failed to upgrade Windows Installer.

So I have reproduced the same process on a copy of VMWorkstaion 6.5.2 running on a Windows XP-based computer by using a copy of the same ISO image. I installed VMTools and completed the installation successfully. Then I cloned the machine and copied to the first machine. The new virtual machine booted up and I was able to make changes to the screen. However, VMWorkstation 8.0 informed the VMTools was outdated and run it again. When I did, it has exactly the same way as it did before.

Although the new virtual machine created the 6.5.2 VMWorkstation works better, I prefer to have a recent version of VMTools install correctly on this virtual machine.

Does anyone have any ideas or solutions?

I think Win2000 needs to be patched to Service Pack 4 to the latest version of VMware and the VMware tools.

  • Tecra M2 mapping of the keyboard in Windows 2000

    Hi all

I have a Tecra M2 on which the WinXP was removed and replaced by a new installation of Windows 2000 SP4 (I prefer not to go into detail as to why this took place).

My problem is that the keyboard mapping is not correct under Win2000, for example if I press shift + 2 I get a @ and not a '. '. The problem exists with almost all the characters of Maj (' |,-,', ~,', ', @, #, etc..).

Note that I don't use any software that remaps the keyboard.

Does anyone know how this bee fixed?

    Thank you very much

    Hello

I have the same problem on my laptop, but I don't have time to look at the problem until I saw this ad...

Here is the answer for Windows XP, I guess it's the same for Windows 2000, because the systems are similar.

Under start/setting/control panel, you will find the icon "regional and Language Options". Double click it and you get a new window. Select the folder "Language" then "Details". A new Windows pop up and from there you can select 'Add' services 'install '. Select your language to enter the menu drop-down, then click on 'OK '. Ensure that the value "default input language" is correct, then click 'OK' and click on 'OK '.

Normally, the operating system needs to restart to set the hardware!

Your keyboard should work correctly after the next system startup.

Let me know if it works for you

  • The upgrade from Windows 2000 to Vista

Yes, I'm trying to determine if I have to install windows vista after using Windows 2000 for the past eight years.  When XP came out I could see no reason to change because XP couldn't do anything more than Windows 2000.  Now, vista is out and everything ever written on this subject, it can do nothing more than Windows 2000.  Even if the voice activation has been fully successful since 1995, I heard that vista does not come with it.  Even if software video free DVD for many years, vista does not come with it.  Although windows 2000 integrates the easier menu system ever created, vista does not support the menu of windows 2000 System.  Windows 2000 starts, opens all programs instantly, works with internet and who manages all programs perfectly right now, in 2008, they made another OS.  Why did do XP and vista?

So, why anyone would take another version of an OS after that the first works perfectly?  I've never understood this.  Help, please.

Peter, there are several good reasons to upgrade to Vista. Depending on what you mainly use your PC for some may be more appealing then others. The following link will help you to discover who has the largest retail dealer and the will you more information about how to upgrade:

  • Unable to display the log file in windows 7

    Hi all

for all of you who are familiar with the text game, I use customer gMUD a certain game. gMUD is able to record activity as a document that is readable by microsoft Notepad.
so, one evening I played and connected my activity where the customer is located, for example c:\program files (x 86) \gmud
After the recording session, when I went in this directory, the journal was gone! in fact, there were 2 newspapers, lets call them document1.log and document2.log
    I did some troubleshooting for:
    1. When you are prompted for a location to save a log, when I choose my office, the journal appears and I can read it just fine using Notepad. This means that there is nothing wrong with the ability of the client to write and record newspapers.
    2. When you are prompted for a location to save a log, when I choose the directory where is located, my client of mud and give a name, say document3, I see that document1 and document2 are there. I can now logging document3. but as for the previous 2 logs, when I open the directory in windows Explorer, it is simply not there. This means that the issue is consistent and I can reproduce it. and also that the logs are there, but I can't visually see it.
3 tried setting the options files of the control panel to show all hidden files, but the documents don't show still in windows Explorer.
4 tried to open the document via prompt back but the documents cannot be found.
    5. I tried running Notepad and navigate this particular directory but there is no .log files or .txt files.
    some other info:
    running windows 7
    used AVG at the time
my last hint is that the writing of the flies in a "program files" folder is somewhat limited (not hidden) and there should be a way to document1, document2, document3 access. can someone please show me how?

  • Windows 8 order summary still displays the log information is incorrect

  • Windows Vista is not displayed the photos. (Windows 7 is not do it either)

I have several computers... recently one with windows 7.
Now, I had YEARS of problems with Vista. A simple problem is the fact that he was NEVER able to use the thumbnail view is worth a _____.

I recently bought another computer with Windows 7... SAME problem.

I studied this during more than a year, and the responses of primariy are 'files migh be corrupt'... is not... or "go to organize, search of the view tab, make sure that the box to ALWAYS DISPLAY the ICONS, NEVER of MINIATURES is not verified...". UH Yes, ok Microsoft is not... not working anymore... or you not listen thousnads who share this same problem.

    My question is simple...

    This can be corrected?

Microsoft took over 2 years to fix this simple function (worked like a Swiss clock with XP), and it seems that they just brought with windows 7.

I have to laugh at the new Microsoft commercial, they say that people wanted just "something simple." I would like to just something to work properly. Please tell me that's not too ask.

It may be too much trouble to this instance.

The solution that you listed is the only solution that I don't know about this problem (and it apparently does not for you if it worked for others).  I have 32 bit Vista Business SP2 and do not have this problem (or if I've never had this problem with Vista) - maybe I got lucky.  I did nothing to "fix" - it worked fine since installation (so completely, it is not a bug of Vista because it works sometimes).

Given that the problem also exists in Windows 7 (I think that they have copied the code), I suggest that repost you this question in the Forum Windows7: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/category/windows7 where they may have found a solution that will apply to both Vista and Windows7 (but I doubt it).

  • How to display the version of windows as a watermark on desktop (beta of windows 7 is way)

I scoured the internet for a while now (since the beta version of Windows 7 released) because I love how the OS version is displayed in the lower right corner of the screen, it is clear and precise, and I wanted to do this with all the operating systems on my computer, so I turned to google for help and all that I could find was to know how with XP When appreciated (I already knew tweak UI) did not help with VISTA that seems impervious to be highlighted, I want some people to see which version of vista that I use because I never had any problem that are not my fault.

I really really want not just add text to each wallpaper I'll never use, not to mention the text in images tends to hurt to scale.

  • Display satellite P30 with Windows 2000 issues

I can't find a driver for Satellite P30 I'm running on Windows 2000. Windows 2000 is the only operating system, I am able to turn it on now. If someone was able to get a P30 works with Windows 2000? Help, please.

    Hello

This laptop model has been tested only with the Windows XP operating system and it is not supported with Windows 2000. Sorry, but you won't find any display driver for this device on the Toshiba site. The only way is to try to find a driver on the site of the producer graphic CAD.

I'm not sure but I think that your unit has "ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9700" graphics card.
