Display thumbnails of PDF documents

I am a researcher and I have a very large collection of documents and journals in PDF format. These were previously held in "My pictures" of Windows Media and Fax Viewer on my old XP computer. I am dismayed to find where these PDF files are displayed in Windows Media Center in Windows 7, only the Adobe PDF logo will appear. The thumbnail of the first page is missing. Without these miniature Visual cues for files individual identidy my work will be harder unnessarily. Is there a way to get Windows media center to display a thumbnail of each PDF file in "my pictures"? Otherwise, Windows Media Fax Viewer can be imported to and run on the Windows 7 operating system?

Great :)

I have a Windows 7 Home Premium computer

I read all the suggestions and I tried to download several versions of Adobe Reader for Windows 7 and Vista http://get.adobe.com/reader/otherversions/.

Before you download each version, I would delete the current version with uninstalling programs for the control panel.

After each new installation I shut down the computer and restart the computer.

I tried to download the versions with and without going through my antivirus (CA Total defense) running.

After downloading, I thought that the version downloaded successfully.

I have read the help of Acrobat http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/troubleshoot-reader-installation-windows.html and followed the instructions.

    None of the above helped.

The problem is that any version of Adobe Reader, download, I can't open a PDF file and read it. Or the drive itself will remain open.

    1. If I try to open the drive from the desktop link or real program menu, the Player opens for 5 seconds and then closes spontaneously. If I try to click on the Player menu (File, Edit, View, window, help, tools), then an alarm will sound and the menu does not open. Soon after, the reader is closed.

    2. If I try to open the drive by double clicking on a PDF file then the Player opens but the document is not displayed (only the grey player screen PDF is specified), then the drive closes after 5 seconds on its own.

The desktop shortcut shows like 'red icon Adobe Reader'. But the real program menu icon shows as empty a folder icon.  All documents in PDF format displayed as Adobe PDF icon.

I tested several PDF files and none will open on this computer, but they will open on other computers.

I created a word document and saved as a PDF file. It looked as if it had record properly (a the appropriate icon) but when I try to open it according to point 2 above the document is not displayed and then then the drive closes after 5 seconds on its own.

Anyone have any ideas on what is happening and how can I fix?

Could you please respond in this forum and send me an email at [deleted]

    I'm so confused and frustrated.

I would try Windows Explorer, navigate to C:\Program Files (x 86) \Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader, and then double-click Eula.exe and accept the license agreement

I have a Mac OSX (10.7.5) and use Safari.

    1. launch Adobe Reader (Acrobat Reader is not).

  • Display thumbnails of "spreads" instead of Pages of InDesign Documents

    Hello

I am looking to have produced miniatures

Thumbnails embedded in the Indesign documents are integrated in the form of individual pages, the amount of included pages can be set on a document level.

Someone asked on the forum script ID if it would be possible to view thumbnails bridge "spreads" instead of pages.

To this one might have IDS to include thumbnails of the spreads, BUT it would be really very difficult and involves a difficult plugin c ++ that would take a lot of time because the api does not include the necessary methods.

The other option would be bridge script to display thumbnails of page integrated side by side instead of one at a time.

A problem is that the bridge would detect if thumbnails are coming from the same thread.  Perhaps, which could be achieved by incorporating some metadata in the document of identity.

I rigged this screenshot with fireworks by mistake I did on a pdf instead of an ID of a doc, but the idea is the same.

    Screen Shot 2015-08-03 at 00.45.png

Did someone knows if it is doable?

    Thank you

    Trevor

I doubt it very much. But if you can extract the pages as jpg you should be able to stack them.

  • Why not my PDF documents display correctly on Firefox?

I run a web site. Recently, I've upgraded to Adobe Acrobat 11. My version of Firefox is also the most recent. Since my upgrade Adobe, Firefox will not display my PDF documents correctly. There are gaps in the text box (i.e. a few sentences here, but many are missing) this isn't a problem with explore, Chrome, Opera or Safari, so I think it's a Firefox problem. A fix is coming?

It may take a while for changes in pdf.js to upgrade to a version of Firefox.

This preset are you using to create your PDF documents? If you have time to experiment, you could see if using one of the predefined/formats backward compatible settings plus allows you to get the desired result with greater compatibility for the moment. https://helpx.Adobe.com/Acrobat/using/PDF-conversion-settings.html

  • Don't want to page Red logo to display in pdf documents

Whenever I have display a pdf document a red page with logo, comes first.  It remains a few seconds and is very annoying.  In my previous Acrobat, it never happened.  Thank you.

He is the icon of Windows player, not Adobe Reader. You must associate your PDFs with Adobe Reader, if you want to open with him.

Right click on a PDF file and choose open with - select the default program. Then select Adobe Reader in the list.

I'm filling out a form that is available on a site. When I click on the option to fill out and submit the form 'online' a pdf document is displayed in chrome with the following text

«To display all of the content of this document, you need a later version the viewer PDF.» You can upgrade to the latest version of Adobe Reader from www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html for further support, go to www.adobe.com/support/products/acrreader.html"

Needless to day, I installed the latest version. I even reinstalled using the link in the message, but nothing helped. Whenever I click on the link to go forward, I get the same message. Question: (i) is it my PC/software (Vista), (ii) is the site where I'm trying to submit the form, or (iii) is it the software acrobat reader. Note that I used successfully the last version to fill out and sign forms.

It is none of them. It's Chrome, which is ignoring Adobe Reader and showing the message.

Solution: just save the document (with the message) to your desktop. Then open it in Adobe Reader. The 'real' should then display.

  • How to extract non-consecutive pages of a pdf document. I can highlight in thumbnails but only extract consecutive.

How to extract non-consecutive pages of a pdf document?

I see its easy to do with the consecutive pages highlighting the thumbnails can "extract", but this does not allow for non-consecutive pages.

    Thank you

After you select the pages, you can drag and drop them somewhere,

as on the desktop, and a new file will be created with only the pages.

Highlighting the pages if not achievable, or too complicated to do, then a

script can be used where you specify which pages from script

extract them to a new file.

Since two or three weeks, whenever we try to open a PDF file, we get the following message:

Before display PDF documents in the browser, you must launch Adobe Reader and accept the end user license agreement, and then quit and relaunch the browser.  There is no link in this post, and I can't find where to launch Adobe Reader to accept this agreement.  I do not understand why we started having problems all of a sudden, but it is extremely frustrating!

    We have a Mac OS X v. 10.7 Safari v. 6.0

    Thank you very much!

If you have installed the Adobe Reader software to the deafult location you will see in your hard drive / Applications folder.

    Try this:

    1. Quit Safari

    2. from Finder > go > go to folder... > type in the path: /Applications/ and click 'Go '.

    3. run "Adobe Reader"

    4. accept the end user license

    5. open a PDF file in Safari.

  • How to get the Panel to display thumbnails of the boundaries of the layer instead of document of toentire relative size?

There is an option for this, but it only partially works... and I was wondering if there is something else I'm supposed to know about to make the feature work as described...?

I can activate the option to display thumbnails... transmission in works for the bitmap stuff.  None of my vector masks are shown in the size of their layer.  (Note - I layer in the form of transparency disabled - which means that the layer is shaped by the vector mask and not any content.)  It is verifiable by checking the option to display the boundaries of the layer).

Yet, when I do this, it's obvious on the biggest screen (if the boundaries of the layer are displayed), than the vector contains the complete layerBut in the thumbnail, I often can't even the shape of all , not very useful.

So what don't understand me?  How can I get thumbnails of vector to display the size of their layer?

    Thank you!

I think it is supposed to work this way - vector layers are basically always full document size and the path determines only the pixelation and the visibility of the content based on the rule of filling in the path box. Don't say that there could be no way to determine the bounding box on the fly and use it for the thumbnails does not, but I do not know there is a certain reasoning / logic for this behavior. I guess it is also a matter of preference - in Illustrator, it's like that and it makes me crazy, because we never see where the substance is compared to the artboard.

  • Creating a PDF document with visible bookmarks

    Hello.

I use VB to create a PDF document with bookmarks. I have no problem with that part.

What I want to do, however, is to program the document so that the Bookmarks pane is visible when I open the document.

    Any ideas?

    All the best,

    Ethan

I found the answer to the Communication monitor QAnywhere:

Dim SetPageMode as Boolean = PDDoc.SetPageMode (nPageMode),

where nPageMode is the possible values:

0: leave the display mode is

1: display without bookmarks or thumbnails

    2: display using thumbnails

    3: display using bookmarks
