DMA2200 and NAS200

Hello

I bought the DMA2200, and after a long struggle, I got it to connect to my laptop Vista Home Premium, on the laptop I added the folders I want than the media center to search in, including those on my NAS200 HDD. now on the DMA2200, I can't find these folders, all I can see are the photos I have on the laptop. There is no either appearing on the DMA2200 and I can't see the NAS200 folders. can someone help me with this please?

PS, when I opened the tasks on the DMA are all I can find the folder which can be found on the laptop HARD drive, and even though I have a lot of videos on this laptop still none of them appears on the DMA Library

Tarek

The DMA2200 does not support the DivX codec, you need to use the FourCC Changer utility to change the coding of the DivX video file to 'xvid' that the DMA2200 can play the files. Therefore, when you run the FourCC changer just select your video files and replace DIVX xvid and click on apply.

See you soon.

    Hi all

I just bought one of these and already have problems WMC - which suggests a glance through this forum is not uncommon!

In any case, I hope someone has the answer to my problem, which has the same symptoms that others have reported, but none of the answers seem to match my case.

I spent last night trying to implement, without success.

I can't all files imported into the movie or video libraries - I get the error "there are no files...". ».

    (1) the lib of music is very good, is not connecting to my NAS, confirmed by point 3 below.

    (2) power switch used. Reset to default values and start run the wizard configuration for the DMA22000 again and again; configure new WMC; Reinstall the Extender a UI or both the PC or DMA200; and updates, does not help.

(BTW, I've set up WMC on several PCs, that work and I can get a box of WD to work - OK, it's not WMC but it suggests that I'm not completely hopeless at that sort of thing).

    (3) Finally, I can find and read files via the 'share' in the video library on the DMA2200, isn't a missing codec or divx/xvid question. But that gives me a list of 1500 files all called VTS..., so no help.

How can I get the movie lib works as it is supposed to?

The PC is fully patched, 64 bit, Win7 pro, if that matters.

Thanks a lot in the hope of a solution (which is not involved to recode all 1500 files, or buy 3rd party software, please!)

    Hai,

I have install 2 DMA2200 with Win7, works like charm.

Music of DVB - T, movies, etc.

To play movies, I use MyMovies. A movie database plugin that kind of al kan transcode movies.

There are also some other stuff to let Win7 play movies on the Extender.

But it will still be only the main movie without menu

    See thegreenbutton.com or the australianmcecomunity.

A lot of info, tips on tools

  • DMA2200 and Windows 7, problem to connect

    Hello

I used the DMA 2200 per year + with Vista 32-bit, version of PH, with no problems (major...).

Now I have a new install of Windows 7 64 bit, also Home Premium edition.

It seams like there is a connectivity issue between the DMA and PC.

PC detects the DMA and I start configuring the Extender, it works fine until the Extender needs to connect to the PC (according to the user interface, get a warning and error in the log events for the Media Center, have not found a page to decode, but I think it's a timeout).

Someone at - it had the same problem and found a solution or have any idea what to do.

Now I have to move my old Disc (via BIOS) Vista (recorded the Disc boot... * beep * chance) and between the new disc of Windows 7.

    Finally managed to do work.

I guess that something wnet wrong in the initial configuration.

Noticed that when you run > netstat - a

port 3390 was not included in the list.

Removed the user from the Extender, changed the name of the computer, etc. etc. (do not know what solves the problem), but suddenly the port 3390 was in the list (I think it's the port where Extender tries to connect to the PC).

Now the Extender installed smothly and * beep *, now the Extender works really well, faster then with Vista, this is how it was supposed to work initially, when the extension has been put on the market. Unfortunately I think that extenders have a difficult time in the market.

In any case, I am very satisfied with the Win7 - performance of the Extender.

  • Vista Ultimate on a SBS 2008 domain, Linksys DMA2200 - managed to do work and why

I could get my Linksys DMA2200 to connect to a Vista Ultimate computer joined to a domain on the first try!

Well, let's be realistic. On my 200th test or almost, but the first test after I came across an idea.

Let me turn away from strategies area, firewalls and all the rest.  It really has nothing to do with him apparently, except to the extent where you may not have done something stupid to put in place certain exclusions.

I have not really decided if I'll put it immediately in the public domain or if so, when.

Just to tell you that the support Linksys said, it couldn't be done, but it can.

Check out my blog for updates on the publication of this information, or on my website.

Well, I had a bit of a missed out on the first DMA2200 and just got a replacement.  I have everything working fine now (with the exception that after 2-3 minutes, the box freezes if it is connected to the Media Center, just play a DVD or waiting on parameters).

Here's how to work with a computer joined to the domain, at least one running VIsta Ultimate Edition and SBS 2008, but I think it will work in general.

    1. On the field, create a user as follows:

      1. User name is Mcx1.  Note that this is the same as the local user created on the computer of MC.
      2. The password does not appear to matter.
      3. Make the members of the following groups:
        1. Directors
        2. Domain users
        3. Remote Desktop users
    2. On the Vista Ultimate computer, make sure that this domain account is configured for the computer and displays these groups.
    3. Disable user account control.  If it is enabled, the Extender to connect but then unplug immediately. An error event 107 will be published in newspapers of Media Center files.  It is the dialogue of the authorization request which causes this error and disconnects from the Extender.

That's all.  At some point during my reading/struggle to make it work, I got the Mcx1 local account as a member of administrators and users to the remote desktop, but when I did the re-install, it is no longer the case and it works fine.

For info, I have an ATI-wonder tuner attached to the VIsta box with a cable card, and the image on the HD and encrypted channels is great with just the connections component and 1080i.  Works exactly as you think it should.

Now if I can only operate for longer than 2-3 minutes without having to restart...

Hope Linksys pays attention when they said it was impossible.

    Best, Larry

If anyone has any ideas on the gel in question, let me know.

  • Cannot write in NAS200

    Under Windows XP.

I try to write on my drive NAS200 - cannot do.

I CAN write for USB attached to the back of the NAS200.

What this has to do with FAT32 on PC and NAS200 drives to NTFS?

Problem is - I'm a total newbie and understand only 1/2 of what I read.

Is there a software that will allow me to write to my pc NAS200? If I can put my photos and music, etc. out there?

    Thank you

  • DMA2200 downgrade from vista win7

Somebody has experiences using a DMA2200 with Vista32 after using it with Windows 7 32 bit?  I just got Windows 7 last month, so I installed it on my HTPC as a trial of 30 days at first, just to see what he could do.  This machine had worked OEM Vista Home Premium, works perfectly with the DMA2200.  Two days ago my 30 day trial went upward, so I went back to Vista32.  When I set up the Extender, it indicates the PC should be updated and I go to the www.microsoft.com/extender/update, which does not exist.  I took the last updated firmware on the DMA2200 and applied several Ko I have picked on the other threads in this forum, connection error but the PC hangs just to connect, and the DMA said only: updated the PC.

    Thanks in advance

Problem solved, it was the SP1.  I thought two days had passed, and all the critical updates came through the pipe.  I was WRONG, apparently Vista takes his sweet time.  It took this morning from SP1 and SP2 this afternoon.  Neither has been also critical, until sometimes today, and then they just rolled through another.  It not is never occurred to me I was on before SP2 I "upgraded" to W7 to test...

    Thanks for the tips!

  • Installer of DMA2200 - Center support looking for driver (new installation)

I just came home with my new DMA2200 and I get through most of the media center install but when it installs and checking the items off it hits "Configuration of the extension settings" and a dialog box saying Windows new hardware found opens and asks me to locate the driver.  There is no driver on the CD and nothing in windows.

If I skip this section of hardware installation does not finish the installation

    Help!

OK, I got than that, for some reason any even thought the "Search subfolders" box has been checked, the found new hardware wizard was not performing the System32 folder.  I did there and bingo, all work.  I wonder if it was something to do with indexed locations?

However, it would have been much easier if Linksys put the drivers on their website

  • Problems of vertical hold DMA2200

I bought a brand-new DMA2200 and tried with two CRT TV using the composite options, component and S-video.

There is not no taken vertical.  that is the screen scrolls like the good ' ol days.

I met previously when sending a PAL signal to NTSC TV.  A I get sold a European model?

    Anthony

I fixed it by managing to rummage through the menu on the screen led on the device (because there is no way to track the screen).   Any guideance from the manual even let me know he had the ability to switch from PAL to NTSC, and even less how to fall from the LED menu.  I'm lucky.  But I'm always grumpy on this subject.

  • DMA2200 not will impact configuration and reports a configuration error

I used the DMA2200 successfully until recently when he lost contact with my Windows 7 PC. The PC can see the DMA2200 on the network, but after 8-digit code, I always get a configuration error and a new user (Mcx1). I use AVG 9.0.819. This does not have a firewall, so I use the built in Windows 7 firewall. This deactivation makes no difference. My PC has been upgraded to Vista successfully little after that Windows 7 is out. I used the DMA2200 since then OK but maybe never implemented since the upgrade of the operating system. I checked for DMA2200 updated firmware, but it signals that I am up to date. My connection is an administrator. I keep everything where I can.

The Windows logs I get (see below).

    Can anyone help here please?

    Kind regards

Solved! The problem was a software the Bank invites you to install. It's report. It has never given any other issue. I've uninstalled it during my investigations and the Extender (DMA2200) has finally set up OK. After you have reinstalled the report still seems to work OK.

    I hope this helps someone!

  • NAS200 shows "No fromatted" and the use of disk on MAC?

Hi, I just bought NAS200 it was a bargain for $109 at the Frys.com. I want to do wireless backup with backup large 2-3 to SATA drive. So I bought 1 x 1.5 TB and 1 x 1 TB Seagate barracuda SATA drive. Some how I am so confused to use it with MAC I did different things to operate including firmware update. I case Thermaltake SATA 2 bays and I made the disk of 1 TB in MAC format using disk utility but NAS200 is not recognize it.

My goal of buying the NAS200 has storage wireless and it is fast and I want to store the files in the way I'm storing in USB drive with journaled MAC OS X file system and do not use FAT or NTFS etc.

How to access these drives in MAC is also an important issue for me and I did a lot of research on Google and finally came here to better understand things.

I've read a few articles on the configuration of SMB that is made, but because the disk is not formatted, it has does not work properly.

    Please help me.

I think that NAS200 support FAT32, NTFS and EXT. If you have formatted your drive using MAC OS, then I think he should have formatted your drive's format of HSF. Now, you must delete the partition HSF type and connect the drive directly to the NAS200 without formatting, then the format of the player using the NAS200.

Once you configure all the settings on your NAS200 and set the disk, then you must map the drive on your MAC computer using smb.

  • Question on NAS200 and large amount of data to him.

    Hi all

I have a Linksys NAS 200 on my home LAN.  It is connected via a 1.1 WRT300N wireless router.  I have my computer connected to the router via a cable (not wireless).  I am running windows XP Media center SP3 on a HP duel core processor computer.

My problem is that I'm trying to move a large number of media to a failed drive on my computer to a drive on the NAS 200.  There are about 1.3 TB of info and when I try to copy in windows Explorer it takes forever and consumes a lot of time my computer CPU.

Are other than copying small amounts of these data over time as 3-5 gb each night there other options?  Maybe a program that works like a web browser download manager?  I'm not too good with FTP solutions, but maybe it would work, but I don't know how to set up.  Could this be something with how I set up my router?  I use my router as my firewall and my computer does not have a firewall.  It has spyware doctor and Ad-Aware of protection running.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you

    Steve

Robocopy has an option to limit the bandwidth network, this will also limit the CPU usage (both on your Windows machine and the NAS).

For others, try Googling "windows copy bandwidth limit" or "copy windows limit UC" (without the quotes).

  • Is there a way to make the NAS200 act as a drive in my computer

Not sure if this has been discussed here yet.

I have a NAS200 connected to my router and I can access through my web browser without problem.

I was wondering if there is a way to make it act as a player that is in my computer. It is to say give it a drive letter and do appear in "my computer".

I'm under win 8 pro desktop hard wired to the router with the nas200 connected. Is there a way to "climb" the nas200 as drive on the computer.

    Thank you

Yes, you just need to map the drive on your computer. You must ensure that the network drive is detected in the first network. You can click on the following link to find out how to map the drive:
